[dev]MIUI PatchROM -- BUILD YOUR OWN MIUI ROM

Hallo guys, I found link to miui patcher -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1483332 what you think?
"3. Only HDPI devices are supported!"
^^ that should make things a bit more interesting.
might be a good/fun(?) starting point for someone to build MIUI for our smaller screens.
It's proabably also Arm v7 only

Pardon my noobness here,
Over in the HTC Hero thread (now in legacy/low-activity) there was development on an mdpi port of MIUI for the Hero, but if I'm not mistaken they got the images resized, and... that's it. Maybe we could look into using that in conjunction with the patcher somehow?
There's a Sony MDPI/ ARMv6 phone with a working MIUI port. You'll have to look it up, I was having problems getting it to boot.

I'm gonna look into it. I'm good at getting crap to boot, but after that I'm worthless xD
Its a no go right now...

In which way should this thread be helpful to me? This is just a theme.

I'd like you to port the ICS soft keys to Gingerbread also. I didn't even bother looking past the comment from Sahibunlimited referring to compiling because has much more knowledge regarding android than I. I did note however that the author of the article states that he backported it, and the blogspot is German, and your location is in Germany so perhaps you could email and ask him if he could share a flashable for the ICS soft buttons. In the meantime I am attaching an apk of an older free version of Syndicate Apps ICS launcher that you can try out. It's kind of slow compared to the newest version but I just don't like to be without the soft buttons. Hopefully CM9 for X10 will have a Camera and Theme Chooser soon and we can move on with soft buttons enabled.

Should I be updating my launcher?

Sorry if it's a stupid question, I'm new here. I'm running Mimicry on my Desire Z and it uses Aroma to install Nova Launcher (as chosen) onto my phone. However, the version is 1.2.2 and 1.3.1 is out. Should I update my launcher myself? Does it matter?
Backup the copy you have with titanium backup and then upgrade. Every now and them upgrade will break stuff, hence the backup, but in general there is no reason not to upgrade your launcher. Feel free to try other launchers as well, many great options in Android

a backup can be useful if the most recent update is having some bugs on your device.

Not only backup the current launcher using TB, but be sure to backup the settings of Nova in (of course) Nova settings. It saves the layout of your widgets and icons.
as the nova 1.3 is build on the sources of the current JellyBean Launcher which includes the Project Butter for more smothness i would recommend the update!

[Discussion] which launcher should i use for my phone, and which rom should i install

Hey guys, i'm bored with my tab and want to put a new launcher and a new custom rom. please recommend some mainly i want roms you can skip the launchers if you want. But i will be grateful if you provide both my tab is currently running 4.0.3
As far as roms, you'll have to search the forums for one for your tab. For launchers I like ADW or apex

Try launcher 8
Gives Windows 8 style
Personaly I prefer miui launcher and miui roms
They're easier and have a lot of goodies especially inbuilt task cleaner
