PX3 downgrade from 7.1.2 - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Hi,
I'm running malaysk's 7.1.2 ROM currently and just wondered if it's possible to downgrade to anything lower? It works great mostly but the Bluetooth is having issues so thought I'd try a different ROM
Cheers,
Adam

Yes, but youd have to contact @Hal9k_ and ask him to make a copy of Lollipop for your SoM.

MTCD unit, a question about which ROM's I can use.

I have a MTCD unit from Erisin, info in attached pic.
I see threads like this one Factory firmware for RK3188 MTCD
with links to firmware, can I use these?
How do I identify which firmwares I can use.
What do the letters after the MTCD mean in the MCU version, my letters are "LM"
kind regards
You can flash any LM update

I was told you can flash any mtcd firmware, just don't flash the MCU if it's not for your version. But I haven't dare try it yet.

MCU and PX3/5 are two different systems. You can only use MX MCU with the MCU, but you can flash the PX3 board with any ROM you like provided it's for your resolution and you have enough RAM, especially for ROMs based on Android 7/8. As far as I'm aware only upgrade to Android 7 if your PX3 has 2GB of RAM and Android 8 is only for PX5 units.
Plenty of custom ROMs for PX3 such as the Hal9k and Malaysk. Or you can always flash a PX3 ROM from another manufacturer, results may vary though.

Well. the model is PX3 meaning if I'm correct 4 cors, PX5 has 8? Sth like that. And the MCU version is MTCD_MX_xxxx. So From what U wrote, I can safely update that MX which came from PX5 modles?
Another one - If I use any custom ROM, does it also updates the MCU version? Or that is separate stuff?
Thanks for help!

PX3 is 4 core, PX5 is 8 core.
PX3 comes with either 1GB or 2GB of RAM. 5.1.1 runs fine with only 1GB of RAM. 7.1 should have at least 2GB of RAM.
PX5 comes with either 2GB or 4GB of RAM. They have been only 6.0 but 8.0 is now out for them, 2GB of RAM should be enough for 8.0.
MCU is a separate update file to the ROM. The ROM contains Android and the UI you see. The MCU is specific to the board in your radio and requires the correct file such as KGL, GS, MX. Some are interchangeable but it is strongly advised against using other MCUs unless you already have an issue with your current one that isn't resolved by the latest version.

downgrade Android

Hey guys,
I would like to downgrade my MTCD 5.1.1 to android 4.something. This because a lot of people say it is smoother and just works better.
Is this possible and are there any setbacks or good things about it?
Any help?

Although the MTCB can be upgraded to 5.1.1, unfortunately the MTCD cannot be downgraded to 4.4.4 and there are no roms for that.

From a technical point if view do you know what is impeding this, e.g. different kernel or drivers?
Sent from my mako using XDA Labs
Different hardware, it will not work unfortunally.

I want to downgrade from nougat to marshmallow, is it possible just with flashing marshmallow, CM13 to be concrete from TWRP? Or are these downgrades not possible and I should take some more steps to prevent bricking my phone?
Thx for all your replies.

How is the performance? I find Nougat to be really slow, and I am considering going back.

So far it feels to run better, I had also problems with Lineage OS Nougat nightlies on my peregrine, but could be just because of the clean install I can provide more info in the coming weeks.

Did you already tried it?
If a Joying Rom would work, I don't know. If it comes from a MTCD/MTCE Headunit it could work.
I have a KGL Headunit and I am on the latest Dasaita HA Rom from 11.06.2018 and I must say that this Rom is the best for me.
I want to try Xtrons next but I think it will not happen because I am very happy with the HA Rom.

I have a xtrons but i want the video out optioneel like joying. Of Amy other rom with the option to show YouTube on the headrests
Is that working on the rom you use?
Johan
I never tried.
For me was important a good Sound, a good working GPS and a stable dashcam.
I tried the following roms:
Malaysk Android 6
Stock KGL Android 6
Malaysk Oreo
Stock KGL Oreo
Stock HA Oreo and that fits all I need
did you do this in the end?
I have MTCE_LM_2.88.
I have already upgraded MCU to MTCE_HA_2.99 seems to have fixed Reverse Camera problem.
I want to know if it is safe to use the Stock HA OTA rom from 12/18 to replace stock LM 07/18
Is it simply, just put update.zip in?

Touch failure when updating

Hi.
I would like to know if someone has had the following problem.
I have a J7 2016 (j710mn Exynos 7870) and when I update it to an android higher than 6.0.1 it stops working the touch screen. It does not matter if it's custom rom or stock rom I've already tried with Lineage 8.0, RR 8.0, etc. My question is: Has anyone had this problem and I can solve it?
The first time I stopped working was with an original system update.
I am in 6.0.1 and I can not update in any way.
From already thank you very much.
