Ineractive control in accessibility setting - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions & Answers

My daughter likes to watch Curious George on the phone and of course finger mash the screen. I use touchlock to disable the touchscreen and physical buttons so she can watch without issues. I just found out that in /settings/accessibilty/dexterity & interactions/interaction control, you can hold power and up volume to do the same thing. That sounds great and all and most likely that setting is used for the exact reason that I use touchlock..................but everytime you enable it while watching a video, you have to choose which portions of the screen will be disabled or click full screen. The problem is when you do enable it and select what you want, the videos pause and then you can't use the touchscreen. My question is whats the point of this if you can't press play after its enabled?

That sounds crazy. But I think is one of those features they didn't think it through.

Listening to MP3 with locking buttons or screen, possible?

Hello,
I would like to listen to my WM(mp3 player) while my device is in my pocket with some type of screen lock or buttons lock. If I play music and turn the device off the music stops.
Is there anyway I can get around this?
many thanks
PocketPlayer does this...
Great software!
you can set the wmp so that you can toggle off the screen when playing mp3z...some helpful chap had a post on how to do this...or you can use apps like nodisplay or screenoff which allows you to switch off the screen and still play the wmp.
To answer my question.
What I did was used that togged screen fuction which turns off the screen and made all buttons set to play, which means pushing any button while listen to music would just keep playing it with having the screen lock on.
I have a wmp 9 and it has settings/buttons - > "un-map buttons during background play" but I could not find an option to turn the screen off, where did you find this option?
I suggesest GSPlayer!
It is an MP3/OGG player with veriy good sound quality.

This does not mean what you think it means.
The button settings you set in wmp are only active while wmp is running. If you set "unmap buttons during background play" the button settings you set are only active while wmp is in the foreground, e.g if you go to the today screen you will not be able to change to the next track using mapped buttons.
The option to switch the screen off is called "screen toggle". If mapped to a button, this will switch the screen on or off when you press on it.
I see many people not understanding these wordings, which is a shame, as with the screen off you can get similar play times to an ipod. With the screen on its likely you can only get 3-4 hours
Surur
FOR one button to lock and unlock , you can use software"displayoff".
FOR two button to lock and unlock , you can use software"screenlock", i recommand this one
both software just lock the screen, the Ops still process.

[Q] 3D Button expanded functionality mod request

Not allowed to post in the developer section yet or I would've requested it to be added to the CameraMOD 3D posted by ErosizeD.
My biggest problem with the O3D is that the screen constantly switches off, your in the middle of doing something, or even just answer a call and instead of the in-call screen it will just swich off disabling the capacitive buttons. The only way to get it to come back on is to fiddle around trying to find the lock/on/off key....
I've requested this in the LG forum but doubt they listen to their customers. Hence, it would be great if one of the developers on xda could do a mod for the 3D button, making it smarter by incorporating the following functionality:
1. With the screen off, a single press of the button switches the screen on.
2. With the screen locked and on or off, keeping the button depressed for 3 to 4 seconds unlocks the screen and also switches it on if it was already off.
3. With the screen on and unlocked, it functions as it does now, as in launching the ‘3D Space’ app and if pressed whilst viewing 3D pictures, it switches between 2D and 3D view.
4. If the button is pressed whilst watching a video it works the same way as the Samsung i8910 whereby keeping the video playing with the screen ON but disabling the capacitive icons and the touch screen sensors/input (very useful for children). Holding the button down again would re-enable the touch screen.
5. If the button is pressed whilst the camera is on, it acts as the capture button to take pictures or start/stop video recording.
It does not need it to lock and switch off the screen as the current on/off button is fine for that purpose. It would also be very useful if pressing either of the volume buttons when the screen is OFF, simply switches the screen on!
Hope this is possible and thanks for reading this request.
If anyone else would like to have similar functionality added to the 3D button please feel free to add any suggestions/changes.
Thanks.

Just wanted to say...
I only agree about #5 on your list. The 3D key is indeed in the perfect position for taking pictures.
However, I don't agree with the other 4 points on your list.
#1, pressing the 3D button to unlock the phone is actually a much worse idea than the lock/unlock button. I don't know how you hold your phone, but I've just tried it out. With the way you normally hold your phone, the lock/unlock button is in a very nice place to lock the phone. A better place would be the volume up button. The 3D button... well unless you use phone on left hand a lot and press with pinky or you press with your palm on right hand, its a very bad place to put an unlock button.
#2 I have no idea what you are talking about. What do you mean holding it for 3 or 4 seconds and then it'll unlock screen and turn it on? If you unlock the screen the phone is already on. If your phone is off, then the screen can't unlock.
#3 I don't have anything to say about this becuase this is exactly how the 3D button works right now.
#4 I believe this is a useless attempt to stuff too much into one button. Just know that to make this feature work, you dont' make any changes to the button rather you got to make changes to the video player. And it'll only work for that video player. For example, we mod the stock Video Player, it works perfectly.. the way you suggested. Then you download a flv video and it won't play. You download MoboPlayer and it plays perfectly. You hold down the 3D button and it launches 3D space. Personally, I would suggest just downloading MoboPlayer because if you're watching something, you can press Settings button to disable all inputs.
5. Like I said, I would appreciate if the 3D button became a Camera button during camera apps. But this would only be for the stock camera app, which would mean modding the camera app to make this work. Personally, I would prefer pressing anywhere on the screen to take a picture as opposed to using the 3D button as a shutter button, but then...that's just my preference.
I don't know, but I want to wake up my screen with any of buttons like MENU/HOME/BACK/SEARCH
i would LOVE the 3d button to also be the shutter button.
the fact that it's not by default is pretty idiotic if you ask me.
so there is a way to make photo with the 3d button on Optimus 3d?!?!?
Plssss is so important for me....

if those mod can be applied (pls for someone here to make it real...), just gonna make this HH way much better....
I could think of creating something that does those features. But like other ppl said, everyone doesn't want all of those features, that's why we'll need an app that could let ppl choose the exact actions they want for the 3D button because seriously, how unimportant isn't the button really? A button that says "3D" is completely wasted and that's why something should be done, letting ppl choose the actions for their buttons, lol.
I'm new to LG Development but it's definitely not impossible by just an app, would required root though. I'll look further in too it when I got some spare time.

I for one would definitely love such an app! But the one function I really care about, that's switching the screen on with another button, different from the power key. I would even go for switching the screen on with the volume rocker if that idea isn't too bad! Hope you can really do something about it
1&2 - I don't really see the point in 3d camera screen on. Its not as if the power button is hard to press (Compared to other smart phones at least)
3 - I would prefer if the 3d button launched the Camera. There's pretty much no point in opening 3d space, besides showing off. Editing the \system\usr\keylayout\omap-keypad.kl from
Code:
key 249 3D_MODE
to
Code:
key 249 CAMERA
disables all other functions of the button, such as taking photos, 3d switching etc.
4 - This would be somewhat useful, but probably difficult as it would have to be coded into the stock video player, which i don't use since it seems to lag while playing some video formats.
5.The 3d button already takes photos with Stock GB ROMs.
what do u want this one button to do everything... Get over it long press = 3d menu and in camera mode on 2.3.3 it takes pics i say that is more then enough... I don't want it to turn my screen on etc.. I have other perfectly working buttons to do that...
I'm using ThiaZO3D on my LG Thrill with v18a baseband and the 3D button is great! pressing it now won't immediately launch the 3D launcher, you must hold it down. While in the camera app, you can press the 3D button to take a picture or start recording a video. You may even press and hold to keep the focus, then let go to take the picture. I've found that if you're in the middle of focusing it and you don't want to take a picture you can tap the screen twice or just hit the back button.
With this rom, it's perfect, no need for it to be anything else. Haven't tested with binding the 3D button as a key in N64oid or any other emulator yet, I assume it works fine as long as you don't hold the button too long.
have you try "No Lock " App? it 's work great if you dont' want the power button to be press while the screen off.

Galaxy S6 Buttons

Hi,
I have a Galaxy S6 and I am new to android. I find the phone to be really interesting but one thing that keeps catching me out is the 2 buttons on the bottom of the phone, the back button and the “stack” button which loads all open apps. I am always pressing these by accident and would love to disable them, is this possible?
Not unless you want to root and modify things you don't yet know about as an Android newcomer. I'd suggest you stay away from that for now and just get used to being careful about the location of the capacitative buttons. :good:
It's just a matter of getting used to them, I'm afraid. However, if you want to avoid accidental hits at specific times such as when watching movies or playing games, they can actually be disabled without root. All you need to do is enable a feature called Interaction control under Accessibility settings. Once that's done, simply hold Home and Volume down and tap "Done" and you will see the buttons don't work anymore. Hold down Home and Volume down again to go back to normal. Quite handy really once you know it's there.
You can disable the capacitive buttons (or make them do other things) with an app called All in one Gestures

Brightness using bezel

If i rotate the bezel i switch over to weather updates or news or other apps...
I wanted to replace this functionality and control the brightness level by simply rotating the bezel.
I use the "I am Awake" app to always keep my watvh face on.... only thing i want now is a some app which makes the bezel rotation control the brightness. I dont want to go to brightness setting and then use bezel rotation to lower or raise brightness... its too long process and cant do it everytime..
Any such app exists ?
The closest ive come to doing this is by setting double tap of home button to "open last app" option...
So i go to brightness option.. then press home button... then whenever i wanna change brightness... i simply double tap home button and the brightness menu opens and i can rotate bezel to increase or decrease brightness......
But i want to remove this requirement of double tapping home button also...... simply rotate the bezel and brightness goes up or down....
Fyi... auto low brightness option is not so good.... its not so responsive.... it is slow.... sometimes it does not reduce the brightness only...
So thats why i was looking for the manual quick option to inc or dec brightness by just rotating bezel
I know and completely get what you're talking about, it would be nice to be able to modify the bezel actions.
The problem is that the bezel action is programmed into the OS, and Samsung / Tizen doesn't allow a program to override the base actions when you are out of the specific program.
I looked into this before, but with music instead of brightness. Long story short, my car stereo had an AUX input, and instead of looking at my phone to change songs, I usually just take my Gear S2 and put it on the steering wheel.
Now to change songs, I can use the bezel rotation. But, I would have to have the home double press go to the Music Player. If the screen was off for. More than 10 seconds, the bezel would go back to the normal actions.
I looked into it more, and it just seems that you really can't override the default behavior....long story short.

Remote Camera Control Phone to Phone

I need a way to use a device or another android phone to remotely control the video camera software on the other phone.
I have an LG V20 I need to control its camera software (the stock software)
I need to be able to hit the record video button the stop button and MOST critical pause and unpause video button. (while recording)
I want to use the V20 to make videos but to use the nicer 4k camera I need to face the phone toward me which means the screen will face AWAY from me. I can't see it or effectively touch it to interact with it.
being able to see the screen smoothly would be great but so far I have found ZERO viable solution for that. inkwire was the closest but its grainy low res has lots of issues and I can't CONTROL the phone (tap anything via the remote connection)
so I figure MHL connection to an HDMI screen. that lets me SEE the screen
now I just need a way to hit start/stop and pause/unpause reliably and quickly. ideally a physical remote of some sort or an app that has start/stop pause/unpause buttons.
any suggestions? all devices will be within arms length of each other. so something over network not needed. direct connect.
