More Multimedia Volume Steps - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

For anyone who has rooted their phone, does this build prop tweak that gives more multimedia volume steps work on the Mate 9?
ro.config.media_vol_steps=30
This tweak works on stock Android devices but I'm wanting to know if it works on an EMUI phone.

Hi there, I just tried that and it's working great. I tried it for changing lowest volume, but it didn't change. So it just adds more steps.
Edit:my phone is Huawei p9 lite running nougat, emui 5.

How do I update a rooted phone from Lollipop to Marshmallow?

Hi. This is my first time owning an Android phone so please bear with me. Also, English isn't my first language.
I got this phone as a gift, an SM-G920F. And it already has SuperSU in it when I got it. Which means it's already rooted if I'm not mistaken. I'm liking the phone and hoping to know more about it.
Anyway I discovered that you can only change the media volume with the rockers when a video or music is playing. And it defaults to ringtone otherwise. Same thing happens when the media pauses in the middle of playback. But I never change my ringtone volume. It's either on, off, or vibrate.
So I browsed the web for fixes. And found this app called Rocker Locker. I tried it but it was a huge battery drain, so it wasn't a permanent fix. I also found out that this behavior was changed in Marshmallow. Having the rockers change media volume by default.
Tried to check for OTA updates. But it said something about phone being modified. Which was lucky, because I've also read not to take OTA updates while rooted.
Long story short. How do I update from Lollipop to Marshmallow in a rooted phone?
Thanks so much guys!

You can update it using Smart switch, even if your device is rooted smart switch helps you to upgrade the same, google it by typing Smart switch, you will get it and also note that if your device gets updated to Marshmallow, you will be unrooted.

Hey thanks! Will I encounter problems updating thru Smart Switch if the phone was modified with some kernel or a shoddy root?
And are there ways to root Marshmallow? I mean, I can see that there are posts about rooting Marshmallow but are these methods stable?
Thanks again!

You are welcome mate, nope you will not encounter any issues if you update via Smart switch, if something goes wrong you can always download firmware from sammobile and can flash it using ODIN (simple), still many people are waiting for Marshmallow update so proper root method is not available I guess, what I can suggest you is wait for some more days let's see if some one comes up with Marshmallow root method

Cool! You're right. There might be a few bugs left also. So I'm just going to wait for a couple more days.
Thanks for the advice.

I followed huawies manual and did everything correctly. Nothing worked please help. I have a RNE-L21. Someone please help. I factory reset to have all normal settings and apps and still nothing worked.

30 volume steps - Any way to get it?

The Question:
Hello everybody!
Does anyone know of any other way to get 30 volume steps, or to somehow fine-tune the volume slider?
The rest of the post:
I got a OP6 yesterday, I've just successfylly unlocked bootloader and rooted etc. I'm on 9.0.2, the phone was already upgraded when I got it so I had no chance to stay on Oreo.
Now I'm looking for a way to get 30 volume steps for media, instead of the usual 15.
- Back in the olden days I used Xposed and VolumeSteps+, but neither Xposed or VolumeSteps+ seem to work with OP6 on Android Pie. Tried installing it but no luck. It seems that some people have gotten it to work on Oreo with some workarounds. (Maybe a downgrade would be needed for me..)
- I also saw the Magisk module Volume Steps Increase, but that doesn't seem to work with Oneplus 6 at all. Tried installing it, no luck.
Thanks in advance!
/ Jonis
THE UPDATE:
Gosh! I also have 30 steps!
Erhm. How did this happen? Did I miss this stock-feature? I kinda just assumed that it was 15 steps, but didn't check before starting to root etc.
Or could it be from flashing blu-kernel?
*confused*
(I run 9.0.2 with blu-kernel and blu-recovery.)
I actually have 30 steps but haven't applied any mods besides ex kernel.

If you have root, you can write this two lines in the build.prop:
ro.config.vc_call_vol_steps=xx
ro.config.media_vol_steps=xx
Where xx = steps you need
First one for call speaker vol.
Second for media vol.
P.S. This will work on any ROM.
Haha! I just realized I also have 30 steps! I was stock 9.0.0 then updated to 9.0.2 and rooted with magisk and twrp and I literally just realized haha! (Stock kernal btw)

Bluetooth Absolute volume on miui 11 and Sony WF-1000xm3 doesn't work

Hi all,
When I got the Mix 3 I was running EU MIUI as my daily driver, that was MIUI 10 back then. Bluetooth absolute volume was working fine back then.
I own a pair of Sony WF-1000xm3 and since EU MIUI 11 or the last Sony update of these headphones I can't get bluetooth absolute volume to work on the mix 3 with MIUI. I have been using AOSP based roms for half a year now but the unstability (alarms not functioning because of a soft reboot during the night for example) made me go back to MIUI.
Using any AOSP rom the absolute volume works fine and it was working fine half a year ago on MIUI 10 with the Developer option absolute volume.
I have flashed MIUI 10 from half a year ago but I just can't get absolute volume to function. Since my bluetooth speakers that also support absolute volume don't function like they should aswell on MIUI I'm suspecting something else is wrong in my configuration. Even reflashing using Mi Flash Tool to global rom doesn't solve my issue and different firmwares also didn't solve my problem.
Who can help me?
Don't know about the volume problem, but the reboot overnight is caused by a wireless charging bug in AOSP, although on mine it's a hard reboot all the way back to the bootloader, not just a soft reboot of the rom.
Well, it seems I have magically resolved it.
In what I believe I haven't done anything different this time than previous tries I have done, but these are the steps I have taken (from memory)
Reflashed fastboot global rom using Mi Flash tool and relocked the bootloader.
Booted the rom, unlock bootloader check in developer options
Unlock the bootloader using Mi Unlock Tool
Flash TWRP and flash MIUI 11 EU weekly rom, boot
Format data and wipe all storage options except internal storage in TWRP
Flash pixelexperience rom, boot
Format data and wipe all storage options in TWRP
Flash MIUI 11 EU weekly rom, go to developer options and disable the 'disable absolute volume' check.
Pair bluetooth headphones.
And suddenly it works! It might be that some steps seem unnecesary but I have tried so many times using different patterns that I will keep using above pattern.
Hope this helps someone someday if he/she faces the same issues as I did.
Finally enjoying my mp3 player with phone capabilities again

I was looking to get the Sony WF-1000XM3s, is LDAC working properly on Xiaomi.eu in MIUI 11? I'm on MIUI global stable 10.3.2.0 right now and I can't select any codecs aside from SBC (AAC is the only one my headphones support but still) and I'm kind of sick of it. I was thinking of jumping ship to Xiaomi.eu anyway but I'm a little apprehensive about how well it works in the US

I have enabled LDAC in developer options but it doesn't seem to make a difference in comparison with AAC or SBC.

If you look at the device in your Bluetooth settings does it say LDAC next to it, showing it's actually being used? Because I know that has historically been an issue as well, where you select a codec in Dev Options but it doesn't actually change and then reverts back to SBC as soon as you close the settings.
Even if AAC works it would still be a marginal upgrade over SBC which is what I'm stuck with now.

No, it still says AAC, so that doesn't seem to be working.

Just realized only the over-ear WH-1000xm3's support LDAC so your bluetooth is working as it should.

Question Any Magisk Module that can replace system audio files (/media/audio/ui) ?

Hello! currently running Dr. Ketan S09 on SM-S908B/DS and was wondering if there are any modules that can replace system audio files for customization?
I tried older method with this flasher tool that @alessio89g created some years ago. I used my favorite Metal Gear Solid sounds in this pack. however when flashing it complains that magisk needs to be updated to 13 or something.
It's a long shot but maybe someone is knowledgeable enough to fix up this zip and get it working so we can all enjoy?
Thanks for any help and input on this

I will update how this goes soon, I unfortunately have to triple wipe and re-setup device. Google Fi support had me boot into safe mode when trying to get my 5g service to stay on (it kept staying on 4g) and doing so wiped the rom when booting back in so I'm going stock , getting my 5g to work correctly, then setting up rom again, and then I will flash this nice module you linked for me and let you know how it goes. Thanks Doc
(as it turns out it was googles network acting up for some devices and is being fixed, made me screw up phone for no reason)
alessio89g also responded in another thread and gave me these also haven't tested them yet but said they can be used in roms, the apk might be helpful for selecting sounds in roms that can't access /media
I will update as soon as I get a chance to test all this stuffs

IT WORKS ALMOST 100% PERFECTLY THANK YOU SOO MUCH!!!!! the only thing I need to adjust is the volume for unlock and lock because it's a tad quiet and the only sound I can't get to play is when using the navigation bar buttons(S_HW_Touch.ogg). I had a sound set to the right file but it's not playing anything.
I realized this file was used back on Note 5 when we used to have physical buttons on the phone but now we have UI integrated buttons on the screen, so not sure if this file even activates a sound for that anymore, or why its still in the system files, but I also don't understand how that's all linked together so maybe we can't assign a sound to those anymore?
