Unlocking Samsung Devices (2018) - General Questions and Answers

Greetings !
I'm a total novice in the world of SIM/Carrier unlocking, and am looking for a free solution. Are there any current, confirmed solutions to unlock Samsung devices programmatically? That is, a way to unlock without the use of a third-party service.
Thank you everyone!
P.S. If there aren't any which still work, please direct me to the most economical alternative.

Have you checked with your carrier about their options? If it's not under contract many will unlock it for you.

On what carrier is it locked? Most carriers will do the unlocking for free so you don't need to pay anything. Just ask them if they can do the unlocking for you.

Are there FREE alternatives to getting an unlock code for the phone other then your provider?
I requested an unlock code from T-Mobile and they said it would be in within 24-hours. I updated my listing (selling the phone on e-bay) to say it would include the unlock code....then I get an e-mail back from T-Mobile saying:
"Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. We have received your SIM Unlock Request. Unfortunately, this subscriber is not eligible to receive the unlock code at this time. In order to be eligible, the subscriber must complete 40 days of active service. Please submit a new request 40 days after this subscriber was activated.
Thank You,
Sim Unlock Department
T-Mobile USA, Inc."
So I'm kind of in a bind now.
Any advice would be great.

I'm strongly recommending getting the unlock code from BlackBerryMEPdotCOM , these guys are reliable.
No one can give you unlock code for free. and dont try to enter incorrect unlock code. because it will block your blackberry. if you want to unlock your blackberry only use trusted sites. order your Blackberry unlock code from blackberrymep.com this site charge very reasonable price.

For Device Unlock you need to have service for 90+ days. That's how that works. If you want an eBay service or something. honestly just find a unlocking service with good reviews but you've been warned that unlocking that way isn't official and I don't recommend it. With that said you can check out rugitin who unlocks the phone: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Metro-PCS-A...513358?hash=item33ad4810ce:g:xBAAAOSwZVhWS-sG
Remember unlocking like this isn't legit or official in anyway but if you don't want to wait 90 days with active service than this is your only option.

What are the downside of unlocking my t-mobile S8+?

So I have a T-mobile S8+ (SM-G955U), and I am considering of unlocking it as I travel and would like to use other service providers (specially up in Canada). I was wondering are there an downsides to unlocking my phone. I am wondering especially in terms of updates. Will unlocking my phone prevent me from getting updates similar to rooting a phone?
Thank you.
two types of unlocking. The type you are doing is sim unlocking which would not prevent any updates or anything.

Unlocking the bootloader which can't be done on the T-Mobile version. It's the precursor to rooting your phone.

Should I buy this carrier locked Pixel 3?

Hello everyone,
This is me posting for the first time here.
I've found a really cheap Pixel 3, but it is carrier locked to a Japanese carrier called Softbank. Is it possible to remove the carrier lock by rooting the phone? If not, what are the other options should I pursue to buy it?
With many regards,
Emir.

If it's carrier locked it's more than likely bootloader locked. If so, you can't root the phone and most likely can't do anything about the carrier lock. You could call the carrier and ask them if they'd unlock it or, That's about your only option I'd guess. Unless you can get in touch with the carrier and get them to unlock it, I'd stay away. Cheap or not, it's not worth a dime if you can't use it after you get it. Just my 2 cents worth.

Question Boost Carrier locked S22 Ultra Snapdragon USA

I recently purchased an S22 Ultra from swappa for my wife. This phone is not stolen or financed. I've never had an issue getting any carrier to unlock a phone that has been paid off, but apparently Boost Mobile requires that any Boost Mobile carrier locked phone be active on their network for at least a year before they'll release the unlock code, even if the phone is paid off. At this point I have an expensive paperweight. Can anyone point me in a direction to get this phone carrier unlocked without the help of the carrier? I'm fairly comfortable with ADB, Fastboot and ODIN. I'd love any suggestions that anyone may have.

There is no service currently available to unlock carrier locked models. Was it sold as a boost locked model on Swappa and you were expecting to get it unlocked by Calling boost mobile? Return the phone if you have an option.
It was sold properly. I've just never had an issue calling the carrier to get it unlocked. Thank you for your reply. I will see if it can be returned

I think you'll have some luck with some of these vendors because you have an iphone. The problem I'm having is that Samsung just upgraded their bootloader and so these services aren't able to crack the encryption yet. My phone is still locked to Boost at the moment.

I am working with TheUnlockingCompany and was losing faith. They emailed me and said the official Boost policy doesn't effect there ability to unlock. I am still a little wary of that, I bought the phone on FB marketplace so there's almost no recourse. Luckily it wasn't a lot of money invested, truly do not want to switch my number to boost however. There customer support is trash and that policy is a scam.
Did unlocking company tell you why they were unable?
The unlocking company and all of the other companies I checked was unable to unlock my phone because Samsung upgraded their bootloader recently on my phone and they were unable to gain the proper access to my phone in order to remove the network lock. Right now I have an expensive paperweight I'm checking with a company in the UK that claims they can just provide the unlock code for my specific phone. They claim they can take two weeks, but that is my last ditch effort.

The phone doesn't ask for a code when you insert a non Boost SIM, so therefore any service or website claiming to provide a "code" is nothing more than a scam, since you have nowhere to type one in anyways.
There is a way to get it SIM unlocked, but it's not fast or cheap, and you also have to mail the phone off

Yeah, i know. By default, on U firmware, it doesn't ask for a code. So therefore no code exists and no service or website can provide you a code, since one doesn't exist
Carriers have sadly pretty much locked down unlocking methods from the past where they provide and let you enter unlock codes. Now they do it from their server end once you request it. On Samsung phones you do this by going to settings- connections-more connection settings- network unlock- permanent unlock.

Only on T-Mobile and Metro phones. All other carriers are totally different

Please pardon my ignorance about the topic but I have question. I happened to buy a SM-S908U1 unit via eBay but it turned out to be locked to T-Mobile. The phone asks for an unlock code when I enter a Mint Mobile SIM card which was supposed to be compatible with the phone according to the listing. Can a genuine SM-S908U1 model be locked to a network or my phone was also flashed with U1 firmware?
