Doesn't really matter, no camera app or port is going to have the same quality as the stock Samsung camera app anyway due to framework & drivers
is this the same as the one here ; https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/

No its not about the quality and idc, the screen itself is blank we dont get to use the main camera itself but lens blur works and for front camera it gets force closed

I know, I understand what the problem is because I read the thread, but why would anyone want to use a camera app that reduced the quality of the photos?
Doesn't make any sense
So my post still stands, it doesn't matter that it doesn't work on Exynos if you want full quality photos

S7 Edge (Canadian: Telus) running @Arnova8G2 GCMod5 5.1.018_v1.6. Settings: Config: Nexus 6 Auto; Model: Pixle 2XL; HDR+ RAW+JPG enabled; Compress RAW enabled. If I change HDR+ parameters from Default to High or Super High, the app crashes when I take a picture and resulting photo is corrupt. The only way to resolve is by uninstalling and reinstalling the apk and making sure to leave HDR+ parameters at Default.
I think the new version could work for you also. There is only the problem of pink color in front facing camera https://drive.google.com/open?id=19Y0AQ6oEc-pBSHJ6miTMXk_hffXEzD1_ make a logcat and tag Arnova showing what's the problem

@Arnova8G2: Using the latest Oreo Beta Build, I get a crash after switching the device profile and going back to camera mode. Any device profile will do. When switching back, the camera freezes and becomes unresponsive until an error message pops up, informing me that the camera had a fatal error and the app force closes.
Attached is a logcat.

Front camera isnt working at all. App crashes everytime. What do you think are the best settings for good pictures?
What is ZSL ? Do we have to use it with O+5T ?
Sorry for the noob question. I try 1.3 and I like the portrait mode, and I use settings :
Config : Nexux 6 auto
Model : Pixel 2XL
HDR + : High
And it works great even with portrait mode, just hate the white dots...
Front camera does not work, it crash.
Edit : portrait only works on people, not objects, why ? v1.3
Edit : V1.4 I don't have portrait mode, so it's useless for me.

Zsl means zero shutter lag will only work on the configuration that supports it. Pixel 2017 zsl supports zsl and you also have to enable it from the advance setting. In zsl pic is immediately clicked without any shutter delay. It is not mandatory to use in op5t.

Try enabling it from the settings side then close app and reopen. Let us know if that works. Others reporting it working but I'm on OB (hotfix release) and can only use standard camera. Whenever I use her+ and portrait mode it crashes.

Yes I found portrait mode thanks! But if I switch just Once to front camera it crash, and the app can't run anymore, so I have to reinstall it again.
So don't use the front camera. HDR+ and portrait mode (with rear camera) works well.

@Arnova8G2, @azazello22, just tried V1.5Beta2. My logcats are long form, but I'd rather have too much, than miss something, so I couldn't upload them here, so I had to put them on my server.
Switching to front cam, changing no settings, crashes. Sometimes it displays a picture for a split second before it does. Other times it's just a black screen before crashing.
http://www.cdmfabrication.com/logcats/switchtofrontcam.txt
DokatSuya's settings work. However if you aren't on the exact right settings, it's will crash every time. The screen just goes black and the camera crashes.

On v1.5 beta 2 the app crashes after a split second everyone I try to switch to front cam... Is there any fix to take selfies as of now even normal selfies without portrait mode as of now ??

Hi Guys,
Which is the best and stable camera app to be used for portrait mode in the S7? And can it be used with the front camera? I tried many but they all crash every now and then.
Thanks
You can use selective focus mode on stock camera app. It produces portrait-like photos (back camera only) but the downside to me is the size. The image will be about 20MB in size but if you edit it again using any photo editor app it will decrease. IMO the stock selective focus mode is better and faster than lens blur on Google Camera.

Yes it is good but like 90% of the times it will say that subject not detected. And the size for me is normal like 4-5mb per photo. Any other modded/ported camera app for the S7 for this purpose? And can it be used with the front camera?
You can check the @miniuser123 version of the Gcam app. I think it's the best (far away) portrait mode for us.
Better than our cam but still don't work the face cam.

Set somethings:
- Don't change the HDR parameters. Set it to default.
- Unmark the "Use Nexus6 HDRPlus Auto"
- Mark "Compress RAW (*.DNG)
- Mark "Portrait Mode in all models"
- Unmark "Smartburst Enable"
The "camera.af.debug.show" and the "camera.faceboxes" are in Settings>Developer Settings. But these are optional.
Hope I helped
*EDIT - check and follow the thread (here in XDA) about HDR+ for S7. The better place for try new cam apps and discuss about that

This is a problem with the image processing (the heating and the battery drain). Some people says the cause is the app use all cores for processing the image (HDR+ and portrait)
Anyway, there's a new version with front camera working with portrait.

Thanks!! The settings is a bit different but I only changed the model to Nexus 6 and everything is ok. It's still crashed when I switch back to rear camera from front cam while in portrait mode. But portrait mode is still only available on the rear camera, right? Because it's not working on front cam.
Oh right, actually the heating was only a couple times after installing. Now it doesn't heat anymore.

Oh, no. This version that I sent works the rear and front camera in portrait mode. Using without the portrait the front camera is terrible.
And even at portrait, the front camera has a bug with high exposure changing the color to something like pink exposure.
I attached my settings. Remember to close and reopen the app totally for apply.

Changing the model to pixel 2 xl did enable portrait on the selfie but yeah it got some pink on high exposure. But the result was still great. Without portrait the front cam is blurry and the edge was too much sharpened. It's terrible.
Also, is HDR+ enabled by default? There's no HDR+ setting on the top row but there's some sort of delay (like when applying HDR) when I take pictures so I thought it's still there. The photos taken with rear camera is also better now I guess.

Yeah, this version is near to perfect.
I never, anymore, take pics o' people without rear portrait camera -hahaha
The delay is borring but minimal. You can take a lot of pics and check them later. You don't need to wait between the shots.
If you wanna HDR+ setting, go to: settings>advance>check the option: manual HDR+ control (my app isn't in english, but is something like that)
*You can't increase the HDR+ parameters
**Just a obs- my app crashed sometimes at older version (I didn't try the newer properly) and my app didn't take pics. If it happen, just "force stop" and it back.

MIUI stock camera for all Custom roms.
After collecting all miui camera ports at last able to work dual camera with our whyred.
What is working:
1-Portrait mode (Back only, with dual camera)
2-4k video recording
3-front camera
4-And MIUI default stuffs.
What is not working
1-Slowmotion (May be works with G-cam)
2-May be more you can find.
3-Capturing Normal pictures are headache because of the 2nd camera .( you can avoid this by doing flash always active >then capture>Camera will force close and restart with the primary camera)
Unexpected feature
1-Don't know it will be good or bad for us Our 2nd camera can capture images with 13mp res. As it is ported from Android One that's why may be.
you can avoid this by doing (turn on flash active >then capture>Camera will force close and restart with the primary camera)
For better experience just capture portrait images with the miui Stock camera and use another camera for rest of the work like G-cam or what ever you like.
How to install
Just flash using TWRP
Credit-All credit goes to MI AI devs ,Mi note 3 devs.
Do not ask me wired questions just download and try yourself.
Thank you.

Is it able to perform as good as the stock camera of RN5P? I mean the portrait mode (front n back) works fine or not?
I tried the BSGod of Gcam on RR rom. But i finally came to the conclusion that stock camera is the best for this phone. It takes pictures in super sharp quality, Gcam was not working as good as this one. Also the shutter speed was too low in GCam

Let's get something out of the way, MIUI stock camera does not have better image quality than GCam, nor it ever will (at least on this device).
HDR+ on your GCam either didn't work, or you didn't set it up properly, because there are a few settings which have to be changed.

Credit-All credit goes to MI A1 devs ,Mi note 3 devs.
Do not ask me wired questions just download and try yourself.
Thank you.

HDR+ worked on my device but it took a lot of time. After clicking the picture took arnd hlf a second at first, and then again a few seconds to process the HDR+.also during videos, there was a lot of issue in exposure and it didn't had time lapse too. Also the selfies taken by miui camera were better as compared to Gcam(i think thats coz it recognises it only as 5mp)
Portrait mode only worked with humans unlike miui camera which worked with anything
That's why i thought miui cam is better. Is there any way to fix it? Note: I tried the BSG mod

Well first of all, my reply was about picture quality of HDR+ vs MIUI HDR(On/Off/Auto) or HHT you name it. In that regard there is no point comparing the two, as computational photography prowess of Google Camera is just ahead in every way.
And as for the other, I don't remember whose GCam I used that had working portrait mode on objects, but it really did work, try out different versions. Even though it's just 5mp, the processing is better, you must have had a malfunctioning app. Also no issues with video exposure here (just missing the 60fps) and the HDR+ processing was a bit slow only in low light).
I am using BSG mod right now, specifically MGC_5.2.022_FINAL_1.0.apk and here are my settings. You can try out Arnova's v7.9.9 I used that one too.

Hey can u tell me which rom are u using? I like ur navbar. I got animations in RR configurations but didn't got that home button. Just a solid round icon.
I had installed pixel experience rom on my whyred and was wondering to get fully stable Gcam on it to get complete pixel rom on my whyred, then tried with BSG's gcam but it offers limited features so I turned to find a stable Gcam with almost all features and came across this Gcam mod : MGC_5.3.015_v.1.0.5_Tolyan009.
It can be used as daily driver as it almost fully stable.
What's Working in it.
1.Slow mo.
2.Portrait.
3.Google lens.
4.Video at 1080p 60 fps
<auto focus working with video stabilization>
5.photo sphere.
6.panorama.
Problems with this:
1.lens blur is bit choppy and is advised not to use it.
2.Run and use this as it is with default settings change in settings may results in app blunders.
3.there is 4k uhd option but it's not working.
THIS MOD IS TESTED ONLY ON PIXEL EXPERIENCE ROM.
YOU CAN USE ON MIUI BUT I AM NOT SURE IF IT WORKS.

For this to work make Gcam as default camera app.
Everything is working fine in my phone after making it default app and disabling snapdragon camera app.
If it still not works try clearing data and rebooting phone.

Dude I just checked. Selfies are getting flipped after clicking the picture.
Like in stock camera, selfies look like when you are about to click the picture.
But one problem I found in all gcam apps is after clicking the picture, selfies don't look like just before clicking. They are flipped sideways.

On lineage front camera works
I just tried this with the new RR 7 (RR-P-v7.0.0-20190203-whyred-Official) and it works fine.
⌐At first the images were monochrome for some reason, switched config HDR+ to pixel 1 and the images came out normal and with HDR+. Turning it back to pixel 2 after a while
and magically nothing changed. Images were still in color.
⌐There are a few random bugs like the ones in OP and some others like there being 2 lens blur mode options.

After rooting, you should have Magisk Manager installed in your phone.
Tap on the hamburger icon (three bars icon on the top left of the screen).

Tap on the download icon of the result to install the module.
After installing the module, reboot your phone.
Install the Google Camera ported apk downloaded from the link above.
NOTE:
On Arnova's 8.2 Google Cam, sometimes after taking a picture it takes forever to process HDR images.
Front Cam with HDR on force closes when you take a picture.
You can provide feedback here to help other users determine what version works best. :good:

- only with HDR totally disabled camera shots a photo but it is BW with some stripes
Any suggestions?

I'm using this one https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/GCamera_Mod_v.5.1.23_R5Plus_fix_crash.apk
So far so good. I like the personalization menu of this one better than the Arnova one.
Didn't test it thoroughly, but in both versions portrait camera works and so does slow motion (this two were the most reported bugs I saw).
Anyone trying diferent versions, let us know so we can compare.

It's working for me. But if it's not working, I suggest (,reinstalling or,) trying the one it's based on (check my previous post). And if still buggy, try others posted here. Or go for the arnova ones. They act like regular apps, so you can try and try.
Also, I've noticed they treat the colors in a diferent way. If anyone with time wants to compare the actual pictures, it'll be nice
Could someone that has followed this guide and enabled camera2 API download this app from play store. Camera2 probe https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.weis.camera2probe

I have not enable camera2 API yet and was curious if that physically changes the hardware level support.

For the front cam, the flash thingy (white screen of death) causes a crash. Disabling it will let you have a front cam that doesnt take pictures lol
