Device Flashing Failure - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Hi I have been having a major issue with my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S8+ (G955USQS2BQL1) for the better part of a week now and I have exhausted just about all of my options to get my phone functioning properly again. I was originally trying to root my phone(on the latest firmware as of December) and while doing so I ended up doing something wrong and bricked my phone, which I ended up getting functioning again. However, that created an all new problem(I've given up on the idea of rooting at this point and just want it usable).
I do not have access to the google account that was used when the phone was registered(my grandmother's account information to be exact, who has recently passed). And somewhere between bricking the phone and getting it to work again the FRP lock was triggered on. I was told that not even under warranty will Samsung help with an issue like this.
I have been scouring the internet far and wide for some sort of relief to get my phone usable again, however nothing has worked. Whenever I try to flash ANYTHING in ODIN I get the message on ODIN : FAIL! (Auth). And on the screen of my device it says SW REV CHECK FAIL : [abl]Fused 2 > Binary 1.
Could someone shed some light on this error message and if there is any way to remedy it?
Thank you

If you have proof of purchase take it to a Samsung store and explain your situation and they might be able to help you out or you could reset the password for your grandmother's Google account hope this helps

and if your grandmother/alternative is around or available...
take her or it with you.
BOOM!

Found a way passed g920v s6 6.0.1 Samsung reactivation screen

OK so I'm new to all this I actually never done one of these so excuse me if I'm not doing this right. But I've found a simple way of I don't know if you want to call a bypass but a way into the phone from being locked out and stuck on Samsung factory reset protection.
I didn't use any special cords or any hacking of files it took me a about a week to figure out but I don't know weather to post how I did it or if this is even useful.
I managed to log onto Samsung account well basically everything like if it was never locked the only thing afterwards is the it doesn't let me remove the Samsung account that I signed in with and doesn't let me factory reset.
Just keeps loading the password option over and over but I can do everything else, and 1 more thing I did it all without a simple card so I haven't been able to see if the network would work.
So that I may call and receive messages and so fourth but maybe some advice on weather to post the method I came up with its about a 10 or 15 min process all yew need is WiFi a USB cable and PC and that's pretty much it so someone help me out you'll be amazed I think..
Posted in wrong section. Also this was hard to read please format it a bit better.

Cant seem to bypass FRP on Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge no matter what I try

I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge from a guy off ebay with smashed the screen for a cheap price and recently took it to my local Official Samsung repair shop who repaired it for a reasonable price. I turned the phone on and it had all of the other guys personal stuff on the phone and he had a screen lock on there that I didn't know how to unlock so I did a factory reset in recovery without realising about FRP. When the phone rebooted I get the google screen asking me for the original google account credentials. I have tried contacting him and getting no joy. I have tried all of the methods in youtube but as the phone has the December 2016 security update none of them seem to work. When I plug the phone into my PC windows just says the USB device has malfunctioned and does not connect. I have installed the full Samsung USB drivers but the PC still doesn't recognise it. Could the fact it is not recognised be due to the google frp or could it be to do with the fact the phone could still be damaged from when it was dropped. Im not fussed about the USB port in normal use but it appears the only method to bypass the FRP is via the USB and using one of those methods. Can anyone help please?
I had the same problem and from my understanding all the methods are blocked now I'm trying to find out if theres a way that i just havent figured out yet i've book marked your question and will keep checking back to see if you have had any help
I know it is a tricky subject as I could be in possession of a stolen phone in which case I am rightly being locked out of it but I have the receipt to prove I have purchased it which I am willing to show to anybody who might know a way around it.
Have you tried putting it in download mode then using emergency recovery on Smart Switch?
Yes tried that earlier. Smart Switch doesn't recognise it. Just stays on the screen telling me to connect the phone even though I already have. When I plug the phone into the laptop it says the USB device (my phone) has malfunctioned and Windows doesn't recognise it. I have tried ODIN and that doesn't recognise the phone either as it isn't being given a COM number by Windows. Guess I will have to take it back to the Samsung Support Centre as I paid them to get the phone working and he said the price quoted was to get it fully working. If the USB isn't working then they can repair it!

I've just unlocked a S5 Neo.
I flashed the very first firmware version (5.1.1)
FRP lock still there BUT I could now use the side sync hack or samsung unlock APK on OTG cable.
Then flashed the latest 6.0.1 version
Did you manage to unlock it?
I have the same problem
Any good current methods for this
uninstall all drivers related and kies. Then install kies and needed drivers. See if you can connect via download mode now.

Have a look at my post here... How To Reset FRP (Nearly All Fones From Android 6.x.x to 7.x.x, No Trips, Flash counter inciment, Knox, Still Mode = Official, Warenty 0 (0x0000) (Still working 16 June 2017)
You see, im not all that good with programming APK files, Dalvik VM, Obex, ect, but Linux I'm your man so i figured where is the email/pass info held and is there a switch to keep it on off, ends up one of the easiest hacks i've ever done, no complicates hashed/salted double coded switch, or hard wired switch,
just a very small partition that when or if you have any google account info stored in it you get locked out till you enter the exact same info, so i just dd,d the partition after taking a backup of course lol (; then when the fone booted to download mode i noted FRP=OFF so i flashed the stock bootloader to let the fone boot all the way to video mode and YES!!! it thought it was a new fone never been used before then i check the switches/trips KNOX , device status = official, to test i just made a new google account on the spot on the phone filled all the [email protected] in then voila its working, calls, all menu items ok, official all knox fine, just the way it was when i first got it, except obviously I've upgraded to v7, hopefully this works for you, please dont use or talk about illegall activity with this, or using it for profit, it's agift I gave you's for free so i want it to stay that way, all i want is a thanks, and a beer, lol, no but seriously, when the guy that invented the hammer to ease the effort of pussing nails into wood with you hands, never got hassle about murders with them, tha fact the could be used to rob banks, rob people, damage things, smash up shops, etc so... think about it, all i done was make a tool to help people too. theres litteraly millions of exploits, including android based ones out there just now check, https://www.exploit-db.com/ , OWASP_Vulnerable_Web_Applications_Directory_Project , http://www.exploit-db.com/ , http://www.blackploit.com/ , packetstorm cve etc etc. #
This is a tool to help people how when they first got there fone, and just filled in any old stuff to get into the fun part of the fone. ie "you cannot use [email protected],com as it already in use how about [email protected],com then the password, use one lower case, one higher case, one number , one symbol, more than 12 letters but less than 20, don't use anything you talk about, your name dob etc etc etc , so most people just pick the random one google pumps out and tries random passwords till one goes through, "I've seen this done a few times with my own eyes and had to stop them and explain and this was b4 FRP" Also if you change one letter in your google password, Factory reset your fone, your locked out if the fone never got the change in time, try it, Anyways if people use this for illegal purposes its there evilness there using not mine, there just using my tool as well as the thousand of others in the arsonry, even the OS check out "kali linux OS", "Parrot OS" "Blackbuntu OS"," BlackArch Linux" Also say you code a program to check hashes at a faster rate to speed up logins etc, a hacker will use it to check stolen passwd lists faster, if a faster CPU is made, the first thing a hacker thinks of is how many words/letters it can do a second so they can bruteforce the wifi key of the local bank, hospital etc.... so?
tried EVERYTHING ....
I have the USCellular G935R4 .... S#iiiit , like I've even gotten to the actual HOMESCREEN , but no matter what I do it wont do it.. i can access just about any app and the settings accurately every single time within seconds-mins, even tried flashing it, even had FULL access and control over it using sidesync, and i tried rooting it from oneclickroot on pc but thennnn knox trips and won't let me enable developer options.... And got the error with "sign in using email and password" on quick shortcut maker , PLUS tried everything to fix the error by reinstalling google account manager , etc ...
But NOTHING ...
If ANYONE has any idea how to successfully do get into it , Pplleasee let me know!
???
Seriously ,
I swear , I'll even pay someone ...
Try flashing the phone to the latest MM via odin and try bypassing. I tried it on my G** da** S6 with may 2017 patch. Dowgraded into latest MM and tried different bypass and it worked.

Problems with phone after OTA update (FIXED!)

Hello,
I wanted to share what I had to do in order to fix my phone after it took the July 27 OTA update. The update somehow corrupted my display and the white portions of the display were now pink and red. A google search has info and pics on this display problem so I won't elaborate on it. The first thing I tried was power cycling the phone, the red and pink remained. The next thing I tried was factory reset the device, that didn't work either. I simply wanted to revert back to the previous firmware and hopefully that would fix it. I liked the new firmware features, but that pink screen had to go! I foolishly flashed the US unlocked firmware (XAA) from SamMobile site with Odin. The pink screen probem was fixed but this definately was not the firmware that came on this phone. Gear VR didn't work, Samsung pay was borked, and there were all types of problems with the software.
At this point I called Samsung Tech Support. The guy was really nice and after a bit of explaining he offered to have the phone flashed at no cost to me. However I would have to send the phone in to be repaired and I would be without my device for a week at least, maybe 2 weeks. I thanked him and hung up. Why couldn't he simply make the firmware available to me so I could fix this without having to send it in and be without my phone for over a week. Not really a acceptable solution. I went online and did some reading. That's when I found the fix!
To anyone who is having problems and would simply like to get back to original factory firmware Samsung has a program called " Smart Switch ". It's available as a App for your phone or as a PC software program. The phone app helps sync devices, but the PC program can do much more. I'm not going to go over in detail how to use the software because a google search has videos and tutorials on how to use it. For me I was able to enter my phone model and serial number and Smart Switch went and downloaded the "correct factory firmware" and installed it to my phone. Now I have the latest firmware (7/27) full factory install and the pink / red display problem is gone. So what I'm getting at is if you are having problems after taking the OTA update like I did, you can try using Smart Switch and install the complete factory firmware from scratch to your device. Make sure to follow instruction on how to use the program, I had to put the phone into download mode for it to work for me. Also be sure you understand about "Google lock" before flashing your phone. This program claims it can un-brick a Samsung phone, and will also over-write a rooted phone to get it back to stock. I'm sure Smart Switch has been discussed before, but for a new Samsung user (like myself) it sure got me out of a bind!

Custom Status, Fingerprint Sensor, Unauthorized Actions, Can't Update, Non Rooted

Hello:
There are other posts that don’t quite emulate my problem exactly so here it is…lol Please needing some expert advice on this one.
I realize that this all might be a risk, but please keep in mind that I cannot afford a new phone and am disabled and unemployed and it’s hard for me to find a new job. So soft/hard bricking my phone would suck really bad and not be helpful when trying to find a job.
Not Fast Charging is what started this whole mess, I am a multi-tasker and delved into trying to recover deleted phots off of my phone at the same time… and this is the Cliff Notes® version of where I ended up.
I have read other forums to where Samsung might be the culprit of the phone’s status being “Custom” through the latest update(?), but I cannot confirm. I noticed the phone charging really slow and it was supposed to be Fast Charging. Long story short, Samsung believes me that I didn’t try to root my phone and that inadvertently I somehow got the phone into Custom Status/Custom Firmware by using USEase and dr.Fone to recover deleted photos off of my phone, but they cannot help me and said that there was no way to roll back the device at this point. It is true I have no intentions whatsoever in rooting my phone. I’ve thought about it, but I don’t like the more risks involved…lol.
Fast forward to this past week. Yes I did use USEase [Used 1st, and didn’t work] and dr.Fone [Used 2nd, didn’t work either] (both PC programs that hook up to your phone.) which in a sense is like a USB transfer to try and recover some deleted photos. I did enable USB debugging and OEM unlock during that process. They are currently both turned off.
I noticed my first real problems started when:
• My Fingerprint sensor stopped working. [On lock screen display] “The fingerprint sensor is not responding. Try again later.” error (Is this similar as the Samsung Health threads that I see posted throughout the net that Samsung Health cannot work because “Unauthorized software was installed”? Is this Samsung’s way of telling you you’re an idiot for trying to root your phone? But it is not even true, I haven’t tried to root my phone. The best I can do is say that USEase or dr.Fone probably had something to do with it because it was working just fine before.
• Constant “Security Log Agent” message within Notifications that never goes away, “Unauthorized Actions have been detected. Restart your phone to undo these actions.” When I select it from the notification screen and takes me to the Device Security screen it also give me an option to install “My Knox”
• Phone is in “Custom” mode under “Device Status”.
• When trying to see if I can “Update” the phone during my troubleshooting steps, the following message pops up: “The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way. Try downloading software updates using Smart Switch on your computer or visit a customer service center.
The only sort of light at the end of the tunnel is when I learned how to get into the Odin Mode (Volume Down Button, Home, Power Button @ same time) it states the following:
• ODIN MODE (HIGH SPEED)
• PRODUCT NAME: SM-G930U
• CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
• SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
• FRP LOCK: ON
• WARRANTY VOID: 0X0
• QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
• RP SWREV 84 [The rest is not legible and not going back to get it unless it is
absolutely necessary…lol]
• SECURE DOWNLOAD: ENABLE
So as you can see my Current Binary is Samsung Official and as far as I can tell the Warranty is not void “0x0” (Whew!..lol)
I think I have relegated to the fact that I might have to Factory Reset my phone. Is this true? Or is there a way to turn something on/off without having to Factory Reset?
If I do need to Factory Reset:
• Will this solve:
o My problem period?
o Will this trip the Knox Security and void my warranty? (See below)
o Will a Factory Reset solve the “Custom” status issue?
o Will it solve my Update problem?
Spent many hours troubleshooting this already and am not sure if the best way possible way to do this is through Smart Switch by Samsung on PC? (I have Windows 10) It is possible that I have learned that Smart Switch recently took “Device Initialization” off the newest version(s)? I have remedied that by downloading a previous version of it and not updating it no matter how many prompts that you get (lol)
If this is my only option:
• Do I need to turn Factory Reset Protection (FRP) off? Or is that only if I were to sell my phone to someone?
• Will this cause any concerns that I have as stated above? (Tripping Knox, Voiding the Warranty, etc. etc.)
Could please use some help in someone walking me through the steps needed to get my phone healthy again. Thankfully I can still use my phone for the most part (Can make/receive calls which is the most important) I haven’t done anything yet, just waiting for expert advice. Any and all help is greatly appreciated more than you know.
Thanks,
fryerlawrence
Just flash stock over the top using ODIN 3.12.3 or newer
updato.com for firmware
A stock flash with Odin will not trip Knox, it will return your firmware status to official, and it will allow OTA updates again depending on your CSC.
If you know your credentials there's no need to turn FRP off.

Thanks to you both... just have gotten around to post a reply. I was curious @Beanvee and thanks for clearing that up.
I have Odin already from :good:Sammobile dot com:good:. That was a piece of cake. I had already researched all of the horror stories with the other Odin download sites like Odindownload dot com and Samsungodin dot com so I have steered very clear from those sites. The only downside to getting Odin from sammobile dot com is that you have to register to do that and I am okay with that if they are a trusted bunch.
But... WTH with Updato dot com ... I am still downloading from that site from this afternoon and its now almost midnight. not cool...lol. How long is that supposed to take?
Thanks you guys for helping out and droppin' forthe the knowledge... it is greatly appreciated more than you know.

Well the updato.com owner claims not to limit speeds, but just about everyone and their dog, other than a handful of people get terrible speeds
samfirm tool works well though

Terrible does not = 2 days to download something. I am still downloading. Updato.com is reprehensible. I would recommend never to recommend them again.
@*Detecto* it's not your fault btw... I am just angry and frustrated because I want to get this done two days ago and it should have been done already and me on my merry way. I pay good money for 60 m.p.s. download speeds and Updato.com is ....is... is... I reserve the right to say anymore otherwise I would be accused of being a foul mouthed sailor....lol.
This is literally the most painful download I have EVER used in my entire 30+ years of using computers on this planet. And I am NOT kidding. Right now it says, depending on the number that you want to believe it is showing, I could have either 5, 6, 7, or 8 hours left on this GDMND download!

Yea we know, we have complained to updato owner, but never get a resolution, not really much you can do about a free service though
Use the samfirm tool I linked above instead, should get max speed from that
Thanks to everyone involved!
After getting side-tracked quite a few times, worrying about what I needed to update before I even tried, and just fearful of any negative outcome ... tonight was the night I got my phone's fingerprint sensor back and am pretty sure that I am now "Samsung Official" so saith the About Phone > Status > Device Status > "Official"
Just wanted to thank each and everyone in this thread who helped out. I did end up using the updato.com firmware and downloaded Odin then I wanted to make sure I didn't "f" anything up so I watched a YouTube video by MrW0lf "How to Flash Stock Firmware on Samsung Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge [via Odin]".
Thanks again everyone for your help in getting back my phone to the way it was. It was pretty remarkable that I didn't lose any of my text messages, contacts, etc. I double checked my SD card and everything was there. Even my phone's theme wasn't touched. I feel like it was all a dream but thankfully it wasn't. Now the only thing I wait for is how the battery is gonna do...lol.
Thanks all of you guys for everything! :good:

Needing Help With SM-R760 Firmware

Hello, my mother got a used Gear S3 Frontier watch from a shop, but the original owner of the watch didn't tell the shop that they didn't turn off the reactivation lock, which in turn the shop didn't know that there was a lock, and my mother can't get a hold of the original owner to tell them to remove the lock, so she got stuck with a watch that she can't use and she can't return the thing either. So, I decided to take a crack at removing the lock despite this being my first attempt at doing such a thing (my knowledge lies in Unity coding and art, not watches unfortunately).
I've successfully removed the lock, however whenever I try to put the regular firmware on it it gives me a bright red error message saying "SW REV. check fail . device:2 binary (it cuts off here I can't read it) Download has been failed" despite NetOdin saying it was successful. Took some searching to figure out what that error meant specifically and it seems like it's because I've been attempting to unintentionally downgrade the watch (it hasn't been up for sale long so I'm assuming it's using an updated firmware.) Is there a copy of the R760XXU2FUD1 version available? I haven't been able to find it here and I'm a little wary of just grabbing it off of a random website.
I think like I might've bricked the poor thing but I can still access the WPS download mode so it's not entirely hopeless, I feel.
I've been using the files and steps found in this video if it helps: YouTube (HOW TO BYPASS REACTIVATION LOCK SAMSUNG Gear S2 S3 FOR FREE!)
Like I mentioned earlier I'm no developer, I'm just trying to help my mom to give her something nice out of this annoying situation so I'm likely doing more things wrong here than I think, please let me know.
Thanks!
