Honor 8 - which stock rom to flash - and how? - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Don't hit me if there is already a thread answering my question.... I didn't find it...
I have an instable "FRD-L09C432B394". Bootloader is unlocked - TWRP is installed. To repair the phone now I need to flash a perfect stock rom - I'd like the official "FRD-L09C432B394" that has been on the phone (5 days old...)
1) Which ROM should I choose?
Yes - I know the site "pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/?firmware_model=FRD-L09&firmware_page=0"
But there are over 10 different flashwares called "FRD-L09C432B394"! I want to make a full install - not only an update... And the Multi-Tool doesn't help - it expects a prepared file on the disk.
Which files to choose?
2) How to flash?
I expect - according to tutorials - 2 to 3 flash-files.
In which order should I flash them?
And - how? TWRP? MultiTool? adb/fastboot?
And - should I wipe the data? How? With my last wipe in TWRP i bricked the phone....
Can anyone clear my confusion?

Anybody an idea? My main problem is the selection of the ROM - I really don't know which one is the most recent full version - and which one the "Region-Flash" to use...

Thanks - but what do you mean with "point version"?

Thanks a lot!
In the meantime i resolved:
- I have to use Firmware Finder as Windows program. There in the "Common base" I can search the versions.
- From this versions I have to use the "-PV" as the "Public Version"s.
=> Success
At the moment I'm fighting with the flashing method - but I will get it.
Thanks for your help! :good:

[A510] [How-to] Flash stock ICS recovery and stock ICS rom on Acer A510

Hello co-A510 users,
I've been lurking for quite a while and I repeatedly see questions about "how to get the JB bootloader?". Followed by the answer "Go back to stock ICS, then get the OTA.". Usually followed by the follow-up question "B-b-but... how?"
This post attempts to answer that follow-up question, for most folks, in the easiest way possible.
The Six Steps to Stock:
Step 1: Download the Stock Acer OS (rom zip)
- Go to http://www.acer.com.au/ac/en/AU/content/drivers
- Select Tablet >> Iconia A >> A510 in the product list
- On the new web portion that will appear, select the "O.S." tab, and download your appropriate build (mine is WW.GEN 1)
Step 2: Flash the OS (rom zip)
- Save the zip in your SD card
- Enter your custom recovery, and flash it
- After the successful flash, reboot your system
- CWM will ask you if you want to keep your custom recovery, say NO. Remember, you want to go back to stock. So let the zip do it's job
Step 3: Check your System Date and Time
- Once booted, make sure that your date and time (time zone included) is correct.
Step 4: Check for System Updates
- Go to Settings >> About Tablet >> System Update >> Check now
Step 5: Wait
- If a pop-up is saying that you're on the latest version, try again at a later time.
- If there's no pop-up saying you're on the latest version, wait. It's a 252MB JB rom downloading in the background.
Step 6: OTA Update
- Once the JB zip is downloaded, a pop-up will say "Install Later, More details, Install Now"
- Select Install Now
- After a few familiar windows, you will now be on the JB recovery, and the JB rom. Ready for the adventure ahead.
This is nice, but a little info regarding why installing JB bootloader would be nice (if I remember correctly one of the things is to reduce the screen flicker, but that's what I THINK), and also how to root and get back in custom ROM road
Oh, and also, is there a way to know what verion of tab we have if we're already on custom ROM?

The main reason that you would want to have the JB bootloader, is to fix the audio stutter bug of the ICS bootloader.
(If you're on the ICS bootloader, play some music files, then turn your screen off. The CPU throttles down to the point of slowing down your music player.)
About how to root JB, I think it should deserve it's own thread. I simply follow the one here, it's pretty complete already (I rooted my stock JB just an hour ago):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35907925#post35907925
And yes, whatever ROM you are on, you almost always have the settings >> about phone menu.
what I meant was get the appropriate build (either WW.GEN 1 or AAP.AU2); I did enter About Phone, but wasn't able to find any of that data (obviously)

Ah... good point. What I personally did was to restore my nandroid back-up from my stock image.
As an alternative, I would say flash NoThrills' optimized WW Gen1 rom. However, I do admit that it is something that I never tried as base. And it's a "do it at your own risk" thing.
Firmware version 1.073 A510 ICS
After flashing you will have stock firmware 1.73.00 WW GEN with closed bootloader.
Flash the fastboot mode (with unlock bootloader).
Run the restore.bat in the extracted archive folder.
After flashing tablet upgraded to firmware version AV051_A510_1.034.00_WW_GEN1 by OTA.

Hi,
I'm keen to update my bootloader, and have been trying to get it done for a while now.
However, i got stuck while following your instructions... at the beginning already!
At that url you quoted, there are only UPDATE files. They won't work, tried already. Those need you to have stock rom.
Where can you get a real stock rom zip?
Thanks!

Hi both of you, I know I am terribly late, but I have basically the same problem.
I wanted to go back to the latest stock version because I am selling the tablet.
Before I had all kinds of CM and then NoThrills and wanted to go completely stock.
I managed to get 4.0/ICS with all Stock options, but I couldn't find a way to upgrade to JB with any "official" method.
The standard OTA search says "Unstable network connection" and the SD card update.zip ends with the red triangle robot.
Personally the journey is at an end for me, since I don't care, it will stay on ICS.
Maybe one has to fiddle with the bootloader lock/unlock, but I am tired of it.
Sorry for not being helpful, just saying I have the exact same problem.

Removing Malware

Hello,
I have purchased a Mi4c and it has what I am told is a ROM that has had malware/spyware placed on it. It is listed as version 77.00.44.00.
I have downloaded the latest Stable Chinese version of MiUi 7 from the mi site.
If I flash my 4c with this ROM from the PC Manager app will it erase everything and leave me with a clean phone?
I am confused as I read elsewhere that I would need the Fastboot version of the ROM to do that. I have been trying to download it but it is too slow and keeps freezing. Even with the putting of the "o" at the beginning of the link trick.
The phone came with a few apps installed on it I am concerned about:
kkbrowser - DCShare - Clean Master - Search - Magic Photo
I have disabled them but I really want to flash the device and get rid of everything but Stock MiUi 7.
Please, any help would be appreciated.

Please don't cross post. I've answered your question in the other thread.

Get stock ROM + TWRP + root for Lenovo k10e70 here

Finally, after more than a year searching, asking, try & error session, I compiled the safest method to get root and custom recovery for this phone.
As you know, there are very little support and resources out there for this model. Like the title said, I provide the resources within my knowledge and skills to help you.
I, myself debug this so you don't have to worry about making the same mistake I made. (What mistake you ask? Hmmm..)
This phone come with 2 variants. Mine is 1GB Ram but I'm sure this will work for any K10E70 as well.
Before you guys start all this, make sure you know what you doing. At least, prepare. Dig some more about the item I mentioned. Get to know what the "do" and "don't", because if you just ignore this, in between now to success, there a greater risk of your phone getting brick. Last but not least, do backup.
Okay, lets get started...
WHAT YOU NEED
#1 Courage (For trying something new..)
#2 Patient (Lot of it..)
#3 ROM (This ROM is built for China market, so there's no GAPPS since they had their own version of "Google". But don't worry, I got this covered..)
#4 Magisk - Systemless root
#5 TWRP custom recovery
#6 GAPPS (Optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Flashing ROM using stock recovery
- Place ROM in SD card root.
- Reboot to recovery. (Power button+Vol Up)
- Once you get in recovery, go to 'Apply Update from SD Card'.
- Find your ROM zip file, install.
- Wait till finish, reboot. (or it'll reboot itself, either one..)
- You have to understand that this ROM is meant for China market, so there's
a lot of Chinese bloatware. This is why you need root to remove all that.
2. Installing Magisk for root
- Install Magisk from provided link.
- Get boot.img from provided link.
- See, learn, and dig more here.
3. Flashing TWRP .img
- Get the TWRP .img from provided link.
- here how to flash and here to know what is actually TWRP .
Or
- You can download Flashify and flash from there. I can't guarantee the success but the possibility is there.
- Assumed you success, you'll find that the custom recovery is in Chinese (again..).
- Don't panic, I got this too. Changing the theme will also change the language.
- Get the Materialized-Dark.zip from provided link.
- Refer here how to change theme.
- Refer here to figure out the menu placing, which is which.
4. Flashing GAPPS (Optional)
- Get the GAPPS from provided link.
- Flash using your newly hot smoking TWRP
You can get all the necessary file HERE.
Million thanks and credits goes to topjohnwu for a magical Magisk, TeamWin for brilliantly TWRP, tasnim_tamim for TWRP Material theme and lastly for a some random Chinese guys and ladies who helping and providing me stock firmware. I hope there are more variety of support for this phone in the nearest future, such as custom rom, etc.
Have a nice day!
Great job, you are the man. Any help to root Lenovo K10a40 please, i think it's similar to your device and thanks in advance.

I think Magisk will do the trick, as long as you can pull out boot.img from your rom. Its worth a try. Good luck.

Does this work for K10 E40, or just E70 phones? Sounds like it's almost the same phone.
[EDIT] Just noticed that the k10e40 is the same as Lenovo C2 Power

If you pull the notification bar down there is the settings icon. Hold the icon for a few seconds for it to spin and then pull down, it will go to settings and a new option will appear under Printing, System UI tuner. There you can hide icon from the top bar, like network because I wanted to hide the 4G icon (ugly icon ) but it also hides the network signal.. you can also display seconds in time and other options. Also you can enable Power notification control levels which will let you then set higher level of notification for certain apps like gmail, messages to get heads up notification which you can't by default.
Also I tested the latest pixel 2 launcher port from xda, the launcher works perfectly and it's better thank stock.

Ok thanks
Anyone found a version of Google camera newer than 4.1.006.135988111 (arm) working on magic? All 4.1 versions have this bug that when you go back from viewing photos to camera the preview is rotated. Seems to have better quality and it doesn't lag in low light.
Do you think substratum could work on stock rom?
TWRP and root
do I see this right: the only way to root the Phone is by TWRP and SuperSU but there is no TWRP or CWM?
Maybe someone nice could provide us with a useable Recovery then ?
Thx in advance
I've tried making a custom recovery decompiling the stock recovery and copying the necessary files to a twrp of a similar device with the same CPU 6737 but I get black screen and after booting to os it replaces the recovery with the stock one, maybe someone with more knowledge can port it.. after that it's easy to flash SuperSU from custom recovery.. I've tried several ways to root device, no luck. Mtk Droid tools doesn't support this device.
For lagging camera, i've installed "Footej Camera" from play store and there is a option there "Stabilization" you can enable it if supported, after enabling it in low light it doesn't lag that much. So the problem is with the installed camera that it isn't optimized for our mobile.
Another interesting app that i found is "Button Mapper" that you can change the behavior of bottom hardware buttons like double tapping the Home button can turn the screen off. This can be implemented in the rom like a option in settings so you can turn the screen off without using the power button.
As a launcher i'm using the Pixel 2 launcher port from xda which is very smooth and nice works perfectly with cubot magic, it's way better than stock (i've said that before).
Any news on rom development for this device?
Just got yesterday an update, firmware CUBOT_MAGIC_7025C_V17_20171013: Fixes some bug and September patch

both have details of a TWRP and root process for the Cubot Magic although they say touchscreen doesnt work but give an ADB sideload code to use..
Im having trouble downloading from either site, problem is i keep getting 404 errors..
Can anyone else download the TWRP files and maybe relink them here?

Question Rog Phone 5s Pro RAW Files

Hello all,
I am in need of some help please.
I have 18.1220.2109.126 installed presently. I have the EU version/WW version of this phone.
I want to upgrade to the latest firmware but I have an unlocked boot loader and root.
Can someone please provide me with the links for the firmware and an upgrade path from this firmware if i cant go direct?
Thanks
Valen.
as I've wrote a couple times before....
you could've just googled how to manually ota update asus phones. they works more less the same:
1. download the update pkg to the phone.
2. move it to the root of the storage (i.e. the first page you open when you tap internal storage in fm.
3. charge your device to at least 60% and up.
4. reboot the phone.
5. after a while it should give a popup saying update found, tap on it and start local ota.
some notes:
if you want to keep magisk then DONT reboot after ota finished. go to magisk manager and select install to inactive slot. then you can reboot.
This only works for updates not downgrade. if you flashed 31.xxxxx (A12) then you cant go back to 18.xxxx (A11), it won't give you the prompt.
