As we all know, camera quality on non-MIUI custom ROMs is unfortunately subpar. But the Google Camera app ported by developers help alleviate this issue by improving image quality. You can learn more about it here.
Android 9, 10, and 11 ROMs. Might work with <9.0 ROMs but I can't confirm.
1. Check if camera2api is already enabled (Most 9/10+ ROMs already have this feature enabled by default so you probably don't have to do this). You can use the Manual Camera Compatibility app (link). If all are green, you can skip step 2. If it's red, contine to the next step.
2. Enable camera2api. There are two ways to do this: manually adding a line in build.prop or by flashing a Magisk module. (link)
3. Install the app. GCam versions from these devs I can confirm working on the 4a (If you do find other versions that work, please do reply below):
Older GCam versions: (less features but more stable)
- scrubber (might not work on newer Android versions)
- arthur
Newer GCam versions: (more features but less stable for the phone)
- Nikita
Google Camera Go: (basically GCam lite)
- Wichaya
• Other recommended versions (not all works)
• Features that don't work or buggy:
- Slow Motion (use Nokia Camera or others instead)
- Dark video recording (may depend on ROM/use Camera Go)

Yup, Auto HDR+ works.
The dev has taken down the download link and I believe he no longer maintains the ROM. You can try other ROMs or this newer build of LOS14.1 by muralivijay: Link

Cool

Something new in this app maybe slow motion for our redmi 4a ?

I've updated the thread to show the GCam versions that work for the Redmi 4A running Android Pie ROMs. If you know helpful fixes or find versions from other developers that works, feel free to post it here (as well as the ROM you're running it on) so that I could add it in the thread. Thanks.

can you tell the link, dark video fix?

Thanks , its really helpful

Updated thread for Android 10 info.

Sorry to revive this thread, but none of the posted versions is working for me on rolex, with RR Oreo (6.2.0) and enabled camera2api?
Any idea what might be wrong?
All GCams crash on app start. Camera2API is working, showing all green in manual camera compatibility test, and working fine in OpenCamera.

why video recording is dark on all versions, I'm on android 9

I'm happy to see new builds for our device. Right now I'm downloading RR build....Omni works also good.
Thank you very much!
Hi,
i have a few questions:
- Is magisk working or howto root?
- Where are the source code?
- Are gapps included?
- Is front and rear camera working?
- Is OTA update supported?
Thank you!
Unlocked bootloader and had my first go with playing with the h9.
Magisk install was straightforward enough, no real instructions just found 368 ramdisk and patched that and fastboot flashed it.
Gapps is baked in
OTA don't know.
Camera is not that reliable with huawei camera and standard camera which is a pity. Currently trying some carmera from the play store and am having better results

Thanks. Perhaps you can try this camera for huawai treble devices: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr.../huawei-stock-camera-app-treble-roms-t3735169
OTA is not so important, but a nice addon.
@OldDroid Any reasons why the source code is not public?

I still had issues with open camera force closing. Simple camera seems to be working fine for me currently. Also noticed NFC appears to be disabled
Hi,
i installed the rr beta 2 rom yesterday. Camera works for me. No problems yet. OTA is not available, but that no big problem.
I disabled the softkeys, but found no settings to configure the hardware keys. Default settings are:
left key: back
right key: recent apps
middle key(fingerprint sensor): nothing
How can i change the hardware key settings?
Then i noticed that wlan sometimes automatically disable if screen turns off.
Just flashed RROS Beta 2 and play store wasn't installing any apps. I restarted my phone to see if it would fix the issue and now i'm stuck with "android is loading" with a loading bar. Anyone else had this issue?

Yes. I had it. Problems is, that no launcher app (trebuchet for example) is set and in my case i couldn't set it because the list was empty.
Try to swipe from top and enter settings and set start app. If your list is empty too, only factory reset helps for me.

Hi,
 @OldDroid or others

added better support for H9 hw keys, the fps gestures now match up with emui gesture behaviour by default – long press fps: assistant – short press: home

but the middle hardware key (fingerprint sensor) doesn't work for home or assistant. If touch nothing happens. Is this a bug or i missed a configuration?

The only think i noticed that wifi sometimes disconnects if screen is off. If screen is turned on you can see wifi connects again.
Does anybody use Omnirom? Is NFC functional? I can switch it on but nonfunctional.
After a major derp with Magisk on my previous Rom, and since I had to reset my whole device, decided to give your RRO a spin. I must say, great job.
Smooth, fast, with all the customizations RR has to offer without added weight.
And it runs beautifully well with my kernel I must say. Thank you!

Stock camera works just as good as in EMUI for photos, video shooting still needs to be fixed. Only AOSP camera can shoot video and in some cases the video does not get saved.
Other than that, NFC needs fixing and one or two more minor things i guess.
Hi,
the front camera take pictures, but the pictures are not saved.

Working GCAM6.3 por Global Whyred [Everything working + AR][16/07/19]

UPDATED 16/07/2019: Working gcam6.2 with timelapse + ARStickers. (Thank you Bulkin043!)
Tested on Havoc 2.7 with fw9.
Note: you have to have hal3 enabled. For pie fw you can flash this in twrp or orangefox to activate it: https://www.mediafire.com/file/gyx6vrzywxscw4c/HAL3_ENABLE_MIUI_PIE_(2).zip/file
No need for any patches. Just install latest gcam from this telegram group:
https://t.me/googlecamera_mod
Direct link for gcam 6.3: https://mega.nz/#!bSoTzAgA!HTEAitMDIUk-0Lf7fSVy9UcKf43mzTct-lf0gMsvG_0
If you want ARStickers:
1) Flash this on magisk https://mega.nz/#!DOo1BIqS!VKlWPL6a8fUZpZX9j7aT1XqupDQ6xVceTOe1YZUAOmY
2) Install this https://mega.nz/#!CLhjBYiC!5TeM6bBWzWj-2sUSjAnoGYtT8PmRAYgfKMcZQCaAqWk
3) Install this https://mega.nz/#!vfxFkSrT!n8O9aGp02SBsBIwKIyeT80fAZFfy0UhxKY-JVfO9Qu4
This is the old post, OUTDATED:
There's no need for patches, however I suggest using:
1) camerapatch 3.1 from this telegram chanel (you can get it from Files menu): https://t.me/rn5cp . Flash it through Magisk and reboot.
2) camera bbd boost 4.0 from here: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1_s0kLxnPjxICPVw8lLWCW7etbhdssqmB Flash it through Magisk and reboot.
3) Install the latest Bulkin043 6.2 Gcam: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1G_3WhBIGzwEOo6N4AtMTZPXTPv2FlkrI/view
Choose MIUI version if you have a MIUI-Rom based (Masik, xiaomi.eu, etc.) or AOSP if you have Android Stock Rom based. (Havoc, RR, Syberia, etc.)
For Official MIUI witch android 9 firmware I have understood that these patches wont work. Btw, if you get force close crash and you are in miui with android 9 firmware, I belive you have to enable camera2api from Vendor.
This config. has been tested in Havoc 2.5 and works fine.
Suggested settings: all default with Esdzman libs 2.5 enabled and use HDR+ enhanced on both front and back camera. Install both patches.
Thanks to nhappyman for patches and Bulkin043 for Gcam, and @dhaern for his recommended settings.
UPDATED 11/05/2019: Now gcam6 works. Thansk to marlin-ku. There's no need to use patches anymore. See this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...-version-6-1-021-220943556-marlin-ku-t3926878 .
However, I suggest using the the 2.034 patch + the camera RN5_BBD 4.0 Patch
1) First install 2.034 from this telegram group: https://t.me/rn5cp
2) Install this https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1_s0kLxnPjxICPVw8lLWCW7etbhdssqmB
Hi,
I've the global version and this configuration is the best I've come across, so I decided to share it.
I've test this in Havoc 2.4 [Android 9]. I don't know if this is working in miui or oreo, I suppose it does.
For MIUI, you can find the patch in this telegram group: https://t.me/rn5cp . Install 2.034b for MIUI + RN5 F Camera Patch 0.4 and gcam from version 2.
This patch is not my work, I came across it in a telegram chat group and it worked for me. Appart of nHappyMan, I don't know who else is the developer after this patches or gcams.
WHATS WORKING:
We now have two versions for Android9 AOSP-Based ROMs.
BOTH VERSIONS:
- Slow motion 120 & 240 FPS.
- True 60 fps recording
- 4k recording
- Whatsapp video call
VERSION 1: Less stable version, everything working.
- Front camera with HDR and portrait mode is a bit choppy, you may have to take a picture with the back camera first in order to work.
- Very fast autofocus and manual focus
- Video stabilization
VERSION 2: more stable version, no video stabilization.
- Front camera with HDR and portrait mode always working: no black pictures, no force crash...
- No video stabilization . (Green image). You can use miui camera.
- Slow autofocus.

Hi,
I've tested it and it works worse than the 1.036 in Havoc 2.2 (Android 9): portrait doesn't work and autofocus is slower. The stabilization video is still broken. I've come back to 1.036.
For those who has android 9, you've to change the config.sh and change MAX_API to 28.

No problem!
You can "port" the MIUI version to Android 9 version by changing the "MAX_API" parameter from the file "config.sh" from the zip of the modules. If you try to install the miui version in a device with Android 9, the installation stops and prints a message error saying that Api 28 is not supported. You just have to change MAX_API to 28 and it will work just fine.
I don't know if there are more changes than that between Miui and android 9 versions, but it seems to be working just fine. (I'm a noob in these things xD).

Did someone installed latest caf? Everything fine?
First, thanks @Akshaykakatkar for taking this development!
Dirty installed CAF (from March CAF)
- Pixel Configuration Assistant popup on boot so I had to setup mobile network, SMS, call management, FP and text size again
- Google Assistant broken (force close), from voice command or icon shortcut from Launcher
- Gcam not working [EDIT: You're right @yogatama about Api2 and now the app opens but video recording not working]
- Sound not working either
- Need to setup FP at every reboot
[EDIT: Will try clean install better]
Clean installed CAF (wiped data, cache and dalvik before):
- Not only Google Assistant crashes but Google App too [EDIT: Google app looked weird because I'm in beta channel. Google stable it's fine, though Assistant]
- System sound still not working, though calls apparently have normal sound
[EDIT: Tried with V4A and HEX kernel in case driver works but still the same problem with sound]
Returning to latest non-CAF PE working version [20190518], hope these bugs can be solved to test it again, the ROM looks great, many new features and so.
Latest non-CAF version (20190518) works great so far. Not having the same problems as CAF version.

What is LineageOS?
LineageOS, also known as LineageOS Android Distribution and Lineage (/ˈlɪn.i.ɪdʒ/), is a free and open-source operating system for smartphones and tablet computers based on the Android mobile platform. It is the successor to the highly popular custom ROM CyanogenMod, from which it was forked in December 2016 when Cyanogen Inc. announced it was discontinuing development and shut down the infrastructure behind the project. Since Cyanogen Inc. retained the rights to the Cyanogen name the project rebranded its fork as LineageOS.

ROM Quick Review
Screenshots in zip attached.
 Internal and External SD Card storage are accessible.
 Lockscreen options working fine.
 Volte Calls and data works. Used Jio for testing.
 Calls thru Bluetooth devices are working.
 In-call volume is loud. No issues.
 Call recording available and works alright.
 Media/music plays fine thru speaker.
 Default camera (front & rear) photos and video recording working without issues.
 Interface is smooth, same as LOS ROM.
 Double Tap to sleep on lockscreen works.
 Adaptive brightness works.
 Hotspot works.
 Too early to say about SOT, but battery backup seems good.
 Magisk root (canary builds) works including modules. PROCEED WITH CAUTION ONLY IF YOU KNOW HOW TO ROOT THIS DEVICE. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY TYPE OF LOSS.
NOT WORKING:
 Music thru Bluetooth devices.
 Fingerprint.
 Double tap to wake/sleep (check if Kernel A app can make it work, but not guaranteed though)
Hope you find it useful…

Right, sorry forgot about that.
Video call is fine :
Google Duo (tested for about 15 minutes)
Whatsapp (tested for 1-2 hours)
Remember to not playing video like YT or anything before doing video call, because it will make the phone audio very low (due to speaker being used in one app, cmiiw).
Since you mention it, now I remember back in Android 11 video call using Duo will be force closed after 1-2 mins (already magisk hide but still not working). Only Whatsapp video call that doing just fine.
My fingerprint is not working... Its just saying "not recognised". Any way to fix it?
