Hi all,
I recently rooted my Z5 and then the OTA Xperia updates kept failing. I then looked into why this maybe happening and to cut a long story short, every ROM i've tried, starts to load via TWRP and then blue text says 'error executing updater binary in zip' etc
I am copying the zip files over to my SD card.
Please help

you cannot install just any rom by the twrp
tell me who did you install twrp?
from twrp site? or is it stock modified kernel! ?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I can;t remember, I'd imagine from this site? I've just checked and the version is 2.8... so should I update or would that not make a difference?
Please explain which version you are on now, what rom you're flashing?

you cannot Flash Z5p using twrp2.8! please follow proper rooting method!
flash stock .305 (original)
then flash it with modified Kernel

Fixed it! Many many thanks for you help! I just installed this version of TWRP and the PA rom and sorted. Phew"

Why its fake? Its a Custom ROM who isnt near perfect but working.

Yes, it may be a custom ROM, but no Nugat custom Rome, it has no trace of nougat at all, with root essentials or similar programs, I can also rename any ROM and then offer it as NOUGAT or similar.
Example: Can VIP does not even nugat but Can Vip custom rom

Its a full Android 7 Build but with the limited support from Huawei you can't do much more.
A Custom ROM doenst mean it das root.
I tried it and it was a Android 7 build with limited usability on a DAV-703L.

TWRP backup is the best way, because you took one before going on custom... Right? However if not, you'll have to take in consideration to reflash your original firmware after grabbing it from sites like hwmt.ru/hwmtsite

If you know how to use adb i can help you, the better way out there is using adb and off course you will need the stock ROM either B360 or 361.

dload doesn’t work until you have stock recovery, and whereas he said he was rooted and used unofficial rom so definitely there is a custom recovery. And custom recovery has no option for dload

Nope bro.
You don't need stock recovery. I have tested more than 10 times on twrp. Dload will work fine. Latest test was last night 14 hrs back
Well good luck than, because thought stock recovery is the domestic program to Handel dload on the phone.

it also works with twrp and with root
the only issue is after installing this you got stock recovery
so 1st after rolling back insert details and boot

I did it today!
FF gives only two files: "update.zip" and "update_full_hw_eu".
Flash it with hurupdater_04. Only this version!
You do not have to change the file names as in previous versions.
You need only:
hurupdater_04.zip
update.zip
update_full_hw.eu.zip
I flashed 9 Pie on LON-L29C432.
Works fine.

in my case it seems that I can not relock my phone ...
Flash your oeminfo.bin file for your model of the mate 9..like c423..
Download the file of xda and flash.. You will lose all ur files as phone resets but bootloader is locked again

I have C185 and 2nd file name not like u (update_full_hw.eu.zip)
Must change the name to that or just let him?

Do not change the name of this file. You'll get the mistake of the hurupdater possibly. Nothing will be bad

You cant relock bootloader. It must be open. After relocking device will not boot.
