Fixing a bricked Sonim XP7 - General Questions and Answers

Hi, I have a bricked xp7 that will only boot into recovery. Its been like this for almost a year. I just recently acquired a second xp7 that is like new. I've successfully rooted the new phone and now I need insctruction for how to create a flashable rom using the new phone that can be sideloaded into the bricked phone. I know there are quite a few people with bricked sonim phones. This is possibly your chance to get a factory rom to fix your phone. Help!!!! Thanks Robb

Hey, have you had any luck with this? I'm in the same boat with a bricked XP7 running KitKat 4.4.4., however can't help much with ROM creation... Still, let me know if you manage to get something out of your working phone - will be greatly appreciated.

Bricked xp7
Hi, nobody ever replied and I'm pretty sure you have to have a custom recovery to copy the rom. I sold the working xp7. Therefore, this thread is a dead end. The xp7 is by far the elite of toughness, but it's hardware is terribly outdated and I can't picture anyone developing a custom recovery for it. There is a place in Sarasota Florida that can fix them. It is the only service center in the United States for sonim. They will not honor the warranty unless you got the phone from a carrier. You have to pay to have the rom replaced but it's not much money for the repair. I ended up replacing the phone with a cat s41 which is MUCH faster, but definitely not in the same ballpark in toughness. Robb

SPH-L710T debrick image file needed for Virgin Mobile

Can someone please help me with an unbrick/debrick image file specifically for the Kitkat SPH-L710T Virgin Mobile model? I have tried using the Boost/Sprint images but they won't work. Knowing the boot loader was already unlocked on my GS3, I tried the EZ Unlock app just goofing around one day and never in my wildest dreams did I think an app of sorts would hard brick a phone. It's not like I tried flashing a custom ROM for a different carrier or phone model, I am pretty well experienced in flashing and rooting, not a pro at it but not a noob either. Brand new phone out of the box and I rooted it using a guide by Max Lee via YouTube and I did not wanna flash a ROM yet until I activated the phone but I never got the chance. I don't blame the DEVS of the EZ Unlock app, I blame myself. My phone was complete stock and I removed no bloatware, the only thing I did was rooted it then screwed it up bu using an app that I had no business using. PLEASE HELP!!:crying::crying::crying::crying:

[Completed] Can a LG K7 get bricked by rooting?

I had a Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime, I was watching
Some youtube videos on hoe to root your phone, I thought it would work because of how many likes the video got. I did not know about devices being bricked at this time. So i downloaded kingroot and attempted root. It said root successful, so i plated around with some rooted apps then I tried to restart my phone it showed this. Yellow triange (Custom Binary Blocked by FRP) I regretted everything. Then I got a new phone, same brand. 5 months after having the phone my friends told me that they rooted their device and it didnt get bricked, I was told if i use the newest version of kingroot i wouldnt get bricked, so of course I tried to root, GOT BRICKED AGAIN ?. A week after my 2nd phone got bricked there was this mothersday sale in T-Mobile, so i got an LG K7 for 96 bucks. Right now I have this bestfriend who has the same phone as me (LG K7) and he said he rooted it with no problems, not bricked. nothing. Right now im struggling if I should root or not. Is it only Samsung devices that can get blocked by the FRP? Help!!

Rooting an obscure phone - Doogee N20

I've rooted and used custom ROMs on past phones such as the Samsung Galaxy series but now I am the owner of a very niche phone in the form of the Doogee N20 and I was wondering how to go about rooting it successfully without the help of a large user-base that has already figured it all out beforehand?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Afaik rooting methods are pretty universal. You need to patch a file called "boot.img" and flash it to your device with fastboot.
To patch it you need magisk canary. And to flash it you need fastboot and your phone's drivers.
Here is a video doing this on a OnePlus 8 :
You can try it yourself and see if it works. It seems you're not new to rooting, custom ROM install so you know the classic disclaimer "I'm not responsible for your phone, you did it, not me..."
Good luck.
(I personally didn't try this method since my phone is 5 year old and rooted from the beginning, but this new way of doing it is pretty convient)
