Since a few days when the battery of my Galaxy S7 comes to about 30%, it drops suddenly to 3% in one second ! Do you know how to fix this problem ?
Get a new battery
You can try this:
- Go to the dialer
- Type *#0228#
- Press "Quick Start"
- Press "OK"
- Phone will lock automaticaly, don't press anything
- After a few seconds, it should get to the lockscreen. You can now use ist normaly.
If it doesn't get automaticaly to the lockscreen press the Home-, or the Powerbutton, unlock it, and try this again after a few minutes.
there's another discussion about this (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/help/random-shutdowns-to-0-battery-t3726960). I suspect it has something to do with the latest update ..
Changed from a Huawei P10 to s7
Hi All
Just wanted to check if this is normal as i have just come from the p10 ...
The P10 seemed very good at deep sleep meaning that once unplugged at 100 % I would look at my phone after a few hours and it would usually still be 100 %. I have a fitbit attached at all times to my s7 the same as i did on the p10 yet the s7 seems to lose power even when in sleep. i have disabled loads of bloatware in the s7 as i thought that could be the issue (including samsung pay that was forced onto me !) using package disabler pro and although it has helped it still happens. without uploading stats this was more of a question to see if its just the way it is on the s7 ? i have a galaxy tab s3 that holds its charge when in sleep so was curious as its the same version of android i think..
Many thanks in advance
2% - 5% per hour in deep sleep is normal. When the phone doesent go to deep sleep, it could be more than 10% per hour.

Hi, I have rooted my Galaxy Chat B5330L, and afted that the battery drain quickly... as an example, yestarday at night I charged to a 100%, then I put in airplane mode and got to sleep, I wake up after 4.5 hours (6.30am) and it has 93% (in airplane mode). Then I turned on the signal as usually, and without using the phone I got 80% (9am) in one hour. Now its 11.46am it's in 65%.
By now in the menu Battery (settings - battery) I got SO android 43%, Screen 19%... etc.
One thing that I don't underestand is that in the same menu, my phone have "SO android" (43%) and "Sistema Android" 7% ¿?
I've also tried to do this ...//gs3.wonderhowto.com/how-to/reduce-battery-drain-your-samsung-galaxy-s3-by-fixing-android-system-usage-0142361/
that is rename a file with a root explorer, but I don't have "gsiff_daemon" file... I have "dbus-deamon", but I don't know if it has the same purpouse.
Soory for my English.
Thank you very much and have a good day.
Omar.
When I put it to sleep it had 99 percent battery. When I woke it up 7 hours later it had 75 battery left. Is this normal. Again I didn't turn it off I just put to sleep, and no the wifi was off
Not normal, most likely a wake lock.
Usually I get about 1% per hour on standby and thats with notifications of certain applications still popping in and wifi on.
There's no one answer when it comes to battery life. Everyone needs to find their own way because everyone has their own set of applications that run in the background based on what they install and how they use the tablet.
Best advice is to monitor battery use in the battery page in settings and see what applications are near the top of the list.
I've noticed that if I leave an open S-Note session running on the tablet and let the screen go to sleep for example then I'm hit with a wakelock that keeps battery drain higher.
This kind of stuff is why many of us want root access so that we can have better monitoring ability and control over processes running on our devices.
Rooted and lots of bloatware turned off.
2 hours 36 min and still 100%
Not rooted yet and went from 84% to 81% overnight (wifi on, nova launcher, as much stuff as possible turned off without root). Can't wait to root Chainfire's root didn't work for me. Hoping he comes out with an updated version soon.

May I ask what you turn off after rooting. I am trying to fix my battery life. Thanks
I mean did you shut off stock apps or 3rd party
Soo! again with another battery post..
Okay i followed some rules someone helped me with the other day in regards to resetting the whole phone and updating it, which i did and the battery was fixed! now untill about 2pm to day my phone was lasting all day i mean since 8am it went from 100% to around 70% and said i had like atleast 1 day with stamina mode on..
Now its at 65% its telling me i have 4 hours remaining without stamina mode and now 11 hours with stamina mode..
Can someone explain why to me? i mean i don't think i have loads of things on that are heavy on battery life.
have you looked at the battery stats to see whats eating the battery?

Mainly the screen, i noticed tho soon as i had to use my phone to be a satnav on google maps it enabled high active location settings, but after i finished i turn the location settings back to battery saver mode so i cant see why it hasn't changed the battery daily span, i mean the screen is the biggest consumer at 29% then snapchat at 15% then some more social media but there below 14%
gps and using it as a sat nav will use the battery quite a bit as the screen is always on, try turning the brightness down
I just, cleared the date and cache on my stamina mode and reset the phone and it seems to have fixed it, i will apparently get 4 days and 11 hours out of my stamina mode now on 96% battery. i have adaptive brightness on tho btw, so i'll just turn it off and lower my screen too

There is a bug in the Stamina Mode statistics. They will only work for the first day and then start showing the wrong time remaining, but don't worry about it. Although the time remaining is wrong, Stamina mode should still be working. You can test this by allowing the phone to sleep for 30min when connected to wifi and then wake the phone to see if wifi is still enabled. If the wifi icon is not showing, but then pops up shortly after waking the phone, then Stamina Mode is working.
Hi
Since several weeks my galaxy s6 has been suffering severe battery issues:
- average drain per hour is 10%
- average screen on time is 2h spread on 12h going from 100% -> 0%
Analysis:
- no real app drain
- phone signal is OK/high
- Google now is off but all the rest is on (data/wifi/Bluetooth/location settings...)
- Gsam reports show that my phone never goes into doze mode... It suffers from really bad standby time
I tried a factory reset, battery calibration, package Disabler etcbut nothing helps.
Sometimes when my battery is nearly dead at around 5%, it jumps to 10-20% when plugging in. It seems that something is keeping the phone awake all the time.
Can anyone help? Images from Gsam are attached.

The battery jump is indicative of a dying cell. It might be time to have the battery replaced..

Turn off automatic backup and restore in your device settings, worked for me (if you want to use the restore function just back it up manually). I have read somewhere there is an issue with the google backup transport service in 6.0.1. I don't know if the samsung backup has the same effect, I turned it off, just to be sure. Before I got like -3.8% battery decline per hour and now it's like -0.8% per hour.
I have a serious problem with stand-by time of my galaxy s7.
I have updated my device to Nougat and i am using ForceDoze to put the phone to sleep (without root, with adb command), although i am not sure if it is really working.
I lose about 3-4% battery every hour when idle.
With idle i mean always on display on, wifi or data on, gps and bluetooth off, power saving off.
When i check better battery stats and accubattery, it shows the phone in deep sleep most of the time.
I think this amount is ridiculous. It shouldn't consume more than 2% with this setup, assuming AOD consumes 1% per hour.
I don't have a problem with screen-on time. Only with stand-by time.
Do you have any suggestions for me? What could be the problem?
Find out what is running on your phone by going to running services. Disable the apps you dont need running, turn off always on display and see your battery times then. Clearly something is running in the background and this is up to you to find out what is running....
Second option root your phone, uninstall the bloat and install greenify.

Hi mate
Most of times is configuration issues or a rouge app , install a an like BBS let it run for a few hours and check the log to see who is keeping the phone awake.
review your settings wifi , location email, FB ........
I think i found what the problem is. It is always-on display. Last night, i turned it off. With only wi-fi on, i lost 1% per hour.
Apparently, AOD consumes way more juice than i thought.

I found AOD prevented Doze from working, which in turn used way more in idle, so it's not specifically AOD draining it, it's because it's not at it's lowest power state during idle
