Can a Network See an IMEI number without Sim card?

Hello,
Simple question...
not wifi will not send imei info
but in teory the mac address is also enuiq
Thanks for the reply...
I just got told from a custmer service person that if the IMEI number is blocked it will also stop it from even been turned onto its factory 'pda' mode to access details without a sim card!??
This phone is a Jasjam.
Can you make an emergency call without a SIM card? if so, chances are the IMEI is sent over while connected for emergency call. Howeve, I would guess that may probably on the other side of the network where not much attention is paid there.
I don't believe customer services on technical questions like.. 70% of the time. Some of they are just crap. From what I can think of, if your IMEI is blocked, you can still use the PDA as a PDA. There is a case here.. one of the thread.. where a guy found (as it lost by someone) a phone on block IMEI.. then used is as PDA (he cheekily ask if he can change his IMEI). Probably he got your phone?

[Q] Lost imei

I have a Chinese clone of HTC Desire(G7i) dual sim, which was purchased from Ebay. It works perfectly in UAE and the phone is also good and very nice. Last week I tried to root my phone with Ginger Break and it was success. Then I tried a custom rom from XDA-developers.com. Unfortunately I forgot to back up the imei of the phone. After installation of the rom, it works better than before except the Calling and message services. The mobile is connected with my network and it shows full signal strength. At the same time I can't make or recieve calls and sms. It shows "invalied IMEI" message on the main screen. How can i retrieve the imei to the system? I know the original IMEI's, but I don't know how to setup it. Please help me
Two weeks before I success fully restore the IMEI of my phone using the XDA-developers.com tips. Thanks for the post.

[Q] Network Unavailable Emergency Calls Only

Hello Everyone,
I got my first android phone this weekend, a Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 (not I1900G, or any other variant, just plain old I9100) which was locked to T-mobile UK.
After doing a bit of reading and trying out 3 different methods for rooting, CF-root, insecure kernel, and finally the method described here for rooting stock ICS firmware without flashing an insecure kernel by Rachmat3:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
After rooting method #2 (flash insecure kernel, run S2-root on phone) I ran chainfire's [root] Galaxy S2 SIM Unlock, this didn't work, so I ran Galaxy_S Unlock and it worked. At this stage I could use my phone for calls and sms though my SIM's network provider (virgin), and I later figured out how to get virgin to send me a configuration message to set up the APN settings, and I could then use 3G data to browse the web, etc...
However, I lost root when I flashed a secure kernel, and updated the firmware to XWLP7 from the intratech list of official kernels & firmwares:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Hence why I used Rachmat3's method #3 to regain root access, which worked like a charm.
However, I then lost the ability to make calls, send SMS and the phone refused to find the virgin network! Disaster! 3G still worked fine for data, and when I tried my sim card in my old phone I could still make calls and it found the virgin network immediately. I tried my gf's virgin sim in the SGS2 and it could find the virgin network but wouldn't connect any calls, it kept saying "unable to connect, try again later".
After reading around, I suspect that this may be a modem problem, can anyone confirm or deny this? I have the modem that came with intratech's XWLP7 firmware, which I believe is XXLPS. Can anyone recommend which modem I should try?
I have a real imei number, I tried flashing the CPW version of the XWLP7 rom instead of the XEU one, no luck, I tried a few other things that I can't remember now as it's first thing in the morning at work!
Any help, suggestions, or direction would be greatly appreciated, I was almost there on my own - fell at the last hurdle!
No-one else has this problem?
I've tried my sim card in it again this evening, I am unable to select virgin or Virgin from the network providers, but all other providers are there, o2, etc...
What's perculiar, is that when I use my gf's sim, both virgin and Virgin and all other providers are present, however, even with this sim, I still cannot make calls, even though it connects to the network, what the heck!?!
I've tried using different modems, no help.
Please anyone, any ideas?
I've contacted virgin this evening, they say the imei code isn't on their blacklist, I can't contact t-mobile until tomorrow, but I will ring them tomorrow and find out if they've blacklisted the imei for some reason.
Help!!
Any ideas, anyone else had similar problems?
Plz help!
I am looking forward to anyone's help about this question!
Hi all,
Just found out that the IMEI has been listed as lost or stolen by t-mobile. In contact with original owner to try and rectify the problem.
Anyone else having this issue, it's likely the same problem, contact the original carrier and ask to check their IMEI blacklist.
On a related note, does this mean that the previous owner of every second hand phone that is sold can just ring up their old provider and blacklist that IMEI whenever they want?
Seems like a bit of a massive oversight if you ask me... Surely there must be a way to transfer ownership of the IMEI number to a new owner?

[Q] How do i know if IMEI is blacklisted

hi, i bought s2 2nd hand and was working fine and now isnt, i wanna make sure if my IMEI is blocked.
i cannot make/receive calls or sms's. it says "Not Registered on Network". but the trick is my Mobile data is working, i can go to internet and even talk on Watsup.
i wanna know if when IMEI is block can the phone connect to internet? or my CELL IMEI is not blocked.
thanks, sorry if i posted on a wrong place.

getting signal with now sim card installed ?

as the title says , am getting a network signal in the status bar with no sim card installed in the device , where it used to show a stop or block sign before when there is no sim installed , don't know when it started but i have noticed it a week ago , and am on the 5.1.1 update ,
what i have tried so far :
1 - reset the device from the setting .
2 - reset the device with samsung smart switch for windows ( which download the latest firmware for the device & install it ) .
3 - installed the factory firmware with odin , and got the device to axiom telecom which is my warranty service provider , and the told me the have changed the whole motherboard , & after telling them the issue is still there , they showed me another s6 with no sim and there is signal and told me that this behavior is normal ( which i don't think so ) .
4 - contacted samsung directly by phone & email , and they told me to reset the device or send it to service ( which i already did ) .
so , is this behavior really normal ? are any of you guys getting this ?
my device : SM-G920F
country : Saudi Arabia
no its not normal
if you type *#06# you gonna find IMEI become 3500000000006/01
if it is then you cant make calls or send sms ( not registered on network )
its the same problem like me i don't know where this come from but we need some one to give us backup the EFS folder. to restore it back to the phone SM-G920F
please if some one can help us thank you

no , it seem we are having different problems ,
*#06# reveals normal IMEI ,
and i can make & receive phone calls & sms if i install a sim card ,
try resetting yours to stock ,
other than showing a signal with no sim card installed the phone is fine & doesn't have any problems .
Speculation- you'd need emergency service call? I would assume that it's allowed to connect to network for that and not have phone disabled?
More speculation- your being spied on...
-Spy
It's only a display icon. You aren't able to still make a regular call without the sim? If it ain't broke don't fix it.
But to ease your mind just check the network status in your settings. Should say what connected to.
Surely it does have to do with the update itself if your phone still functions as normal.
I'm sure there is a network status with the super secret spy codes that you enter on your dial pad. You know the #secretrandomnumber#* codes...

it could be there for emergency calls ,
in terms of being spied on , ha ha ,i don't think so , the service center changed the entire motherboard which include the eMMC with it's whole partitions .
the sim card status in the settings says Not Available for everything , and yes i can't make calls nor sms without the sim ,
but you still didn't answer my question : do you get this when you remove your sim ?
no one with a similar problem ??
I've seen it on lots of Samsung phones. It's simply a signal for emergency calls. You have to be able to make emergency calls with or without a Sim and that's telling you how much signal you have.
Seriously people this is pretty simple and no conspiracy.
You only get a circle with a line through if you have a sim card installed that is blocked from the network or the phone is stolen / blocked etc.

good to hear ,
what made me think it isn't ordinary thing is that the service center didn't know about it & thought it was a problem ,
thanks a lot .
This was done on last update Samsung gods thought we needed to know how much of a signal we had for emergency calls
Having the same problem with my samsung galaxy s6 SM-920F. showing bars on the signals even without sim. not connecting to network operator as well. showing Disconnected status in SIM status from About.
Tried updating the software even downgrading, factory reset and wiping cache but nothing worked.
Found this thread when looking for an answer to this question. In my case, it is a tablet that hasn't even got a sim option but still has the mobile network signal showing, even when airplane mode is switched on. Just worry it is eating some of my battery life. Any ideas?
I am also getting same problem.
There is no sim card inserted in my phone but still it shows the network bars.. Your And my problem is same.
There, an actual answer. Guess I should add it here since I wondered the same thing
a sim card has nothing to do with the transceiver system of the phone. its literally a "passkey" it is your authentication to USE that network. ie you can always SEE the network you just not allowed to "use it" without permission hence the simcard.
