Samsung S8 Plus g955w Canada (Bell) qk7 - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Sorry for the newbie question? Was wondering if my model is rootable and also was wondering how to find out which bootloader version my device is using?
Been wanting to use titanium backup.
I briefed Helium with no luck.
Thanks in advance.

whats your 5th number going left from the last number on the right?

qk7 is using bootloader 2 so you're outta luck.

Root for v2 us available now see the thread in the roms section

2aqk7
Is the 2 the number you were asking about?
Also what Rom thread in the roms section are you talking about? Will it work on the Canadian variants g955w?
Thanks for your time.

What's the latest build number version for G930F?

I just bought the G930F and I'm using it on AT&T. I'm currently on G930FXXU1APB4 but I saw on Chainfire's website that he has G930FXXU1APBF. Will root work on G930FXXU1APB4?

Does it matter what build number/version I'm on when rooting my G930F? Will it work regardless?

We usually go for the latest version. Samsung never provide change list. Since your phone is rooted, it's easy to do a backup and try them out and see it for yourself, no?
I'm sorry but I don't understand how this works. My build number is this MMB29K.G930FXXU1APB4. Can I use CF-Auto-Root to root my phone?

need to root J327T1

Greetings,
Ive bought J327T1 today and i want to root my device which is on nougat.
You and countless others. Welcome to the unrootable device club.
the Sm-j327u is rootable its the same exact device as the j327t & t1 the only difference with that model is it's bootloader unlocked. the only solution i see is buying the unlocked version of the j3 prime from samsung's website. good thing about buying from samsung is the fact you can choose what company you want and theres none or less bloatware installed.
---------- Post added at 11:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:52 PM ----------
also i have the link. i recommend that everyone buys directly from samsung for now on. remember one thing if your device has sm-XXXXU (X's in place of model numbers/letters) (U=unlocked and available on all carriers.) This is the death of unlocked bootloaders on carrier specific devices. the link to the phone is: https://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/phones/all-other-phones/galaxy-j3-16gb-2017--unlocked--sm-j327uzkaxaa/

We are working on it stay tuned a new thread will be made in the guides and news section if we are successful.
Update: we are out of ideas. Until someone has an exploit we cannot root this device sorry but you will need to either buy some other device or buy the j327u directly from samsung. It is unlocked and you can flash cf autoroot no problem. The only issue is we do not have twrp for that device yet but it will be soon.

theres no method for revision 2 firmware and its impossible to downgrade. the bootloader wont allow it. samsung added a new security check in place to check versions of firmware.

Is anyone ever goona look at this in the future or is it hopeless? Because I do understand that root is available but even that is unstable.

for now its hopeless. samsung really pissed me off by patching the root method not even a month after it was made. sure performance was improved slightly but patching the bootloader is just too much. is having an unlock method too much to ask?

Really surprised me with Samsung to about this. They're normally pretty nice with OEM unlock and etc. Unfortunately this is just a phone they've licked down. They're Galaxy Note series all have root. So it really makes no sense to me why this one is so closed off.

By putting xda in the google search you limit your results to stuff in XDA - generally a good idea.
But you are already at the J7 forum, and now you know your model number.
You will find some useful guide info here, though I don't know if yours is a 700F. There will be similarities. Guides are always a good place to start!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/how-to/how-to-root-twrp-install-xposed-t3328580
I believe the next step for you is to flash TWRP because TWRP then allows you to backup your stock, and to flash ROMs.
maybe you need to start here, if the guide above didn't help:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/j700t-development/recovery-galaxy-j7-sm-j700t-t1-t3560342
There are warnings in there about having stock on hand. Make sure you do.
Unfortunately I can not help you further because it talks about flashing with Odin.
But you are in the correct forum for asking questions, so go for it!
Good luck!
Asking questions and being nice to people will get you about anywhere! That's how I approach any new phone.

A little question about sideloading the BETA on S10+(Exynos)

Hello forum users and admins, I have a little question.
I've read on Google that I need the ASII build, but right now i have the latest one, the ASJG.
Do I really need to downgrade my firmware, or I can install it on ASJG.
If it is important, I have checked if my phone is compatible with the beta, I have the G975F and at the CSC I have the letters OXM, but not the ASII. Also, if it' important, I am from Romania, and bought the phone from here.
Thanks.<3

There are plenty of people here, but no one has an answer for you.
You can try it without downgrading but you'd be better off to just do what the thread says since those instructions are known to work.

Question T-mobile locked to debrand and unlock it SM-S908U

Hi guys,
I just bought a Galaxy S22 and it's locked and seems like can't be unlocked by T-Mobile, I'd like to flash it with a stock ROM and I'm wondering if that's enough to get the phone unlocked, I don't want to root it.
I've been searching and I saw a couple of firmware but not sure if they are up to date and how is the process to flash the phone.
I'd like to flash it using a MacBook Pro.
baseband is
S908USQU2CWCE
S908U - Galaxy model
SQ - Snapdragon
U - update
2 - Bootloader version 2?
CWCE - what's this?
any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You cannot defeat a carrier lock by simply flashing a different CSC. There are online services available that can do this for a fee. Due to XDA's policy on paid content/services, I cannot recommend a specific service.
If you use firmware for a different model, such as S908B, you could render your device inoperable.
As for flashing firmware, there is already an existing thread on this. Please search before posting.

First, why can it not be unlocked? Did you buy it outright or do you still owe payments on it? If paid off, it should be able to be unlocked.
And check the How to Guides tabs for instructions on flashing and so on. I keep my device stock all the way, other than the launcher and icons.
