AU KDDI SCV35 and USA Model - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Hi,
As I purchase and AU KDDI SCV35 model, is there any difference between firmwares? Can I use USA unlocked firmware on AU model? My phone is running SC03J firmware (to unlock SIM) and it's working fine.

What if I only use the AP image without the others. Why SC03J firmware can be flashed on SCV35 but US unlocked U firmware can't?

Different partition sizes, and the Japanese variant has some minor hardware differences like the NFC chip I believe, and some LTE bands.
The 3 Japanese variants themselves are identical, and I'm sure their firmwares can be flashed on each one, just like you can do with the U/U1 variants, but you can't flash a firmware for one variant on an entirely different one.
You can TRY using the AP image only, but it'll most likely result in a soft-brick, possibly a hard brick, or the phone and/or Odin rejecting the image due to model number mismatch.

so whats the similar firmware for SCV35 sassing S8 + then?

Didn't work. Probably won't.
Too many differences between the variants.

Can i install it over P905 ?
thank you

anyone can advise if we can safely install one of these firmware on P905

Although all the SM-P905 have the same hardware, they're customized for specific cellular provider and bootloader is locked.
You can try to flash with Odin but I believe you will have a fail as it detects wrong firmware, like P905V is for Verizon, P905A for AT&T.
they're not interchangeable although mainboard is exactly the same.
No. USA firmware is not compatible with international devices.
P905V is not the same device as P905. The P905V is a locked device, with branded firmware locked to Verizon devices. T905 is the T-Mobile USA variant of the exact same locked firmware problem.
You need to use international firmware for the international P905.
Confirmed, I have tried T905XXUBOI1 , but failed during flashing unfortunately
hopefully someone can solve it one day , it shouldnt be difficult

I own and have opened different LTE tablets, I can tell they are the same tablet, only Samsung has this ability to
unlock the bootloader and load the desired firmware. I can swap mainboard of SM-P905V to a SM-P907A tablet or vice versa without
any problem which indicates they are identical tablets except firmware and bootloader.
Any way, Lollipop 5.02 and 5.1.1 have no differences as it depends on the model.
Like Tab Pro SM-T900 is 5.1.1 but Note Pro SM-P900 is 5.0.2, don't bother to load different firmware from another model.

How to Install another Model's Firmware w/o Changing IMEI?

I have an American model S7 Edge, but would like to install the firmware of my region so that I can get access to our 4g network. The bands are capable, so this phone is for sure able to access this, it's just my model is region locked, and to one specific carrier.
I was told there is a chance that this will result in altering the IMEI, which is not what I want at all, I just want to alter the firmware.
Is this at all possible? I tried before, but it only resulted in errors on Odin.
If you unlock it, does it access full network?

Yes. Before my phone crashed it was using the firmware of another country's model.
What if you try flashing the G930U firmware? It's the US's International version and I know it's able to be flashed onto the G930/5V (Verizon variants) with no problems at all. Maybe give that a try and see where you're at.

Any way to get VoLTE working with international phone?

Hello
I bought an s8+ from HK which is the dual SIM Snapdragon version (G9550). Using it here in Australia, everything works as expected as it supports all of our bands, however VoLTE does not work. I've read this is because the CSC does not match a local CSC.
Unfortunately there are no Snapdragon versions sold here, hence no firmware with the Aus CSC (XSA) that will support VoLTE (as I read you can't flash the Exynos ROM onto the Snapdragon).
Is there any way I can enable VoLTE? Can I somehow change the CSC without an official ROM? Like go into the G9550 ROM and replace the CSC with the Aus CSC?
The only other region with the Snapdragon is the US from what I can tell, which probably wouldn't enable VoLTE either.
Any advice is appreciated
Thanks.

You may root and then flash your csc zip (or simply replace the CSC files in the custom rom with your CSC files). You should get VoLTE. Download Multi CSC file from here and extract your csc.
I do the same but with India CSC on USA snapdragon models.

Thanks nimms. This is pretty much exactly what I was after, except I cannot root the phone (work required Knox so I can't trip it ). I was hoping I could do somthing like the above, only via Odin, but it sounds like you can't change the CSC without rooting the phone due to making system changes.
Try this code in dialer *#272*imei# and change your csc from there

Hi
As far as I'm concerned, this is not possible without tripping the Knox counter. And if you try flashing the XSA CSC (via Odin), you will definitely soft brick your phone
ims setting. maybe can fix your issue ,just download a hidden app display. then you can open ins setting

Interesting.
Another question...the only difference I've noticed between the 9550 (HK) and 955U (US) is that the US version does not have Band 28 but the HK version does, which we do use here in Aus.
If I flashed a US firmware (which has the same S835 SoC), would I lose Band28, or would the modem still be able to use it?
EDIT: what if I only flashed the CP file (modem), is this interchangeable between the different SoCs? Could I flash the XSA CP (modem) onto another ROM, or will this soft-brick?

My IMS is saying "Not registered" in the about phone. I can't seem to do anything about it, and the hidden menu doesn't give me the option to change it.
IMS setting is located explicitly on "Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names"
The best bet you may try is to find a Samsung phone thats currently in VoLTE then copy IMS apn settings onto you phone (you manually input the settings).

MY Galaxy S8+ SM-G9550, SW - G9550ZHU2AQL2
Just download an official ROM (A variant from a country that supports VoLTE) for ur model from sammobile or u might even find it on the xda forum and flash it via odin with Home CSC.
It works well... No need to root n KNOX counter wont be tripped...
PS: Backup data.. They will be lost in the process.
Now we're talking about ADB, not ODIN or TWRP.
Flash via ADB Sideload - not possible. You understand me. Smartphones snapdragon not flash Exynos SW. You can only edit an existing profile CSC or add new CSC.
Example:
my smartphone TGY (snapdragon model SW)
but I live in the region of SER (EXYNOS MODEL SW)

How to enable VoLTE on SM-G930F?

I was wondering if it's possible to enable VoLTE on an SM-G930F running BTU firmware on an AT&T carrier. Is there any way to get things like WiFi Calling and VoLTE on it, or am I just screwed since I'm using the international variant of the phone?
When I first got it brand new from Wal-Mart, it was running TTT firmware (from Trinidad and Tobago for some reason) and showed normal 3G, 4G, and LTE symbols on my status bar. Since I wanted to get the Nougat update early, I flashed BTU which switched the symbols to H, H+, and 4G. Does that have anything to do with it?
Thanks.
You're certain it's a G930F? And from Walmart of all places? Exynos isn't meant to be sold in the US.
If it's a G930F and you have TWRP you can flash the CSC tool in the development section which has the US carriers, and CSC is what enables VoLTE.
If it's a US snapdragon model you could flash the AT&T CSC via Odin without needing TWRP.

If OP successfully flashed BTU then it has to be a Exynos G930F, but I agree, most phones sold in the US claiming to be the G930F are modded Snapdragons faked to look like it, but they obviously won't allow a Exynos ROM to be flashed to them, so in this case OP has got a real Exynos
Could be the modem (CP) part of the firmware controlling which carrier services you can receive in your region, not sure I'd recommend flashing a US modem to a UK firmware though, unsure what would happen, although the G930F is pretty straight forward to unbrick as long as you can get back into download mode

It hasn't been updated with the newer versions of Android so it's not really a thing anymore.
Next best thing is to download the entire firmware package for your carrier from somewhere like updato then flash only the home_CSC file. Although iirc this might now work if mixing and matching models, which is why the CSC flash tool was a thing.

The trouble is that the G930F was never officially released on US markets, so I can't find a US firmware. I'd gladly use another market's firmware if I knew it would support AT&T VoLTE and "LTE only" mode, but I have no idea how to figure that out!
So it turns out that I have the Canadian SM-G930W8 (as shown on the download mode screen), not the G930F (as shown everywhere else). Identical hardware, but I can only flash Canadian firmware.

Note 20 ultra d/S firmware

I don't find note 20 ultra Dual sim firmware. Does the N986b/ds use same firmware as the N986b without loosing dual sim function? Reason I'm thinking on flashing is cause I have a xfa version and network reception is really bad and thinking on flashing btu. Do u guys think that a new firmware might help? (all other devices I get 3 bar at home and with note 20 ultra sometimes I have no network)
Check here for your required FW.
N986B is the Global Exynos model (it is Dual-SIM = DS); in case if any regions are single-SIM for this particular model (I'm not aware as such), the N986B FW will still be the same as for DS.

It's possible I think.
But..... only try other Exynos region FW (cannot flash FW for SnapDragon variants on N986B without running into problems).
Check on Note 20 threads regarding properly changing CSC.
Also, there are some .xml modification solutions that enable you to activate extra 4g/5g bands - worth a search & try.
(Sorry I don't have the links to hand, but recall seeing these discussions before on N20 XDA forums).
I'm with Three UK does this help
Cheers eddie

When you un-compress the firmware download you will get five files. Each go into a specific part of ODIN - can't mistake it - but if you want to keep data intact you will need to flash Home_CSC. This will NOT change your regional CSC however.
You also need the "hacked" version of ODIN found on this forum easily.

When I flash should I use CSC or HOME CSC. So that I keep getting updates? I think that if I flash UK international firmware, will sort alot of my issues. It feels in my country software is never very stable.

Once bootloader unlocked I don't think you can get OTA - You'll need to flash FW updates manually.
Flash CSC for clean install.
Flash HOME_CSC if just updating FW & need to preserve user data.
