Hi guys. so i posted this question on another forum,
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Hi there!
So long story with Bixby here.
I Purchased a Samsung Galaxy S8+ in the US from T-Mobile. I moved to canada, and got my Samsung device Unlocked. i now have it unlocked, and able to be used on network. Everything works fine, however i have found that bixby voice does not work.
I have bixby home working fine, and bixby voice is installed on the device, however, the bixby button doesnt do anything, and the Voice settings are not available on Bixby Settings.
I have spent a few hours on samsung support, and found that "bixby is not available on unlocked devices" (internationally unlocked). i find this to be discouraging, as you should get all functions of a device if your carrier supports it.
I have tried the following things to get this up and running.
1) Update the software: Device is up to date.
2) Reload the Firmware: Did not fix
3) Downloaded the ROM from Sammobile, and flashed it with ODIN: Same issue
4) Call provider to see if they could push the service to my phone: They can not
5) Call Samsung to see if they can get it running: Not supported on a device that was not originally that provider. (Dumbest marketing strategy i have heard.)
6) Call T-Mobile to see if they can help: i am no longer with them, so they will do nothing
7) Download Bixby Voice APK: installed fine. didnt change anything
I need help figuring out how to get this program onto my device. does anyone have any suggestions? I have a pretty decent background with phones, so ill take the more advanced suggestions as well.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
then i got this response.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
It works fine with a US T-Mobile phone flashed to the stock unbranded U1 firmware.
Don't reflash the T-Mobile ROM.
Flash the stock unbranded U1 mentioned on Reddit (can't find the link now) with the custom ODIN.
Then perform a factory reset with your SIM in.
Make sure you backup your data.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I am having difficulty finding this ROM mentioned, nor am i aware of a "custom odin" i am only experienced with the basic V3.0
any support or help would be wonderful.
thank you
It seems from your post you have the S8+ if that is the case this question would be better suited there...Let me know and I can move it there....:good:

I trying to find a working firmware for verizon s3 sch-i535 I have it unlocked using odin. T-Mobile [who I want to use]
confirmed my phone is unlocked but they can't connect because my firmware needs to be updated from 404. I went and tried
to get update but run into webpage not found Does anyone have direct download for updates.
Every site I go to is a big runaround. It can't be that complicated can it? Hope I get some help here. Thanks.

T-Mobile = GSM
"This is not a GSM device, it will not work on any GSM network worldwide."
You can try whatever you want, the phone will only support carriers using CDMA
You can find every firmware that has been officially released at SamMobile
Thankyou. For getting back.I still want to upgrade the firmware 404 is old

If you already checked SamMobile you saw that you can choose between:
4.1.2
4.3
4.4.2
There is no reason for not using KitKat 4.4.2
Once installed you can flash latest TWRP using ODIN and then flash SuperSU (For root access) using TWRP. Rott access is highly suggested to remove the bunch of bloatware coming with Samsung's firmware and for grant sd card r/w access for all your apps.
I knew that my phone is unlocked so I did a lot of reading and found that if I go into service mode and enable hidden menus that I could
go into mobile networks then choose other networks. There it is GSM! now the next window is a menu to choose band or all bands.
now I took the battery out and installed the T-Mobile Sim powered back up and get a message: Welcome to T-Mobile. Tried making a call
IT WORKS! TEXT ok Internet ok. This was all done while still running stock 404 firmware. I'm no andriod genius and don;t know why all
the posts I've read saying it can;t be done. All I did was use the advise you guys gave did the proper download to unlock and root.
This issue is resolved. Thank you!

Gratulations! I was pretty sure its not possible, especially for verizon devices
Yes I was surprised but I am persistent. Drives my wife crazy! Feel free to share this with others.
greetings,
I recently inherently a Samsung Note Edge (SCL24). The phone is showing its age. It is on its default rom (4.4.4) but many things aren't work. For example, it is extremely slow; it won't remember wifi passwords, etc. I am hoping that by flashing a new rom I may bring it back to life.
The spec is listed below:
SCL24
Adroid 4.4.4
Baseband: SCL24KDU1ANJ3
as I am browsing through this forum, I am a bit confused as to the flashing procedure. Assuming it is the same as every other phones I have flashed, I suppose I would need to root it, install a recovery, possibly a new basebank, and then a new rom.
Is there a guide as to how to do this for this particular phone? It has been a while
any help, and suggestion as to which rom to flash, would be very much appreciated.
ps. I am not looking for anything fancy, but in the past I've always used slim rom.
regards,

Try a factory reset first.
done that many times
This phone was purchased in Hong Kong and other than the model number "SCL24" I couldn't find any other information. Judging from this forum, looks like there are many variations on this phone (vendors in North America, Japan, and others common in south asia). Also from this forum I realized that I probably need to update the baseband in order to flash any new ROMS (post kitkat).
Hence I seek your help,

Interesting.
Is this an international phone?
I tried asking about custom ROMS for my phone (don't want brick it) and didn't receive any responses.
I did do a Google search and didn't find much of anything.
I did download Marshmallow from Sammobile and have been gutting pretty heavily.
I guess after this much time, interest is fading.
problem solved, for now
As I mentioned earlier, this phone was purchased in Hong Kong and the model number was listed as SCL24. Following the thread on Project_ECSTASY (https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...rojectecstasy-custom-rom-galaxy-note-t3545658), I managed to flash the "Global edition stock rom without any bloatware from carrier au" using odin. The step I followed was:
1) installed samsung USB drivers for the phone (directly from samsung website),
2) downloaded and executed Odin,
3) rebooted the phone into Odin mode (vol down, home, and power),
4) connected the phone to computer via USB,
5) updated the rom through Odin.
6) once the phone rebooted, factory reset
I have not had much opportunity to play with the phone but it seemed to be working thus far. I have not had a chance to put a SIM card into it so I don't know if the new rom/Odin also flashed a new baseband and if the radio works.
will report back tonight,

Cool.
Hi guys. This is my very first post here. I searched all over the internet for my problem but nothing. But it seemed that similar questions redirected me to this forum and that's why I decided to join.
So, all started this morning, when the colors of my Galaxy S7 Edge became faded, it was more noticeable on the black color. I tried to find a solution online and they suggested doing something under Developer Tools. The next problem and my big big mistake, was that I unchecked and rechecked something, that after restarting my phone, wouldn't let me enter, showing a text "Custom binary blocked by FRP Lock". I searched for a solution and I saw that the only way was to install a new firmware.
I always thought my phone was SM-G935FD, because that is what it read on the "About device", but at the download screen it showed SM-G935W8. So I downloaded a firmware for the SM-G935W8. This is what it says also on the back of my phone, i noticed it just some minutes ago. So I went and I searched for W8 firmwares. I got the 6.0.1 from Canada and Bell carrier if I am not mistaken. I did the instalĺ. It started well, but after some updates it went from 6, to android 7 and it blocked my actual carrier. I can't make any phone calls.
Now I don't know what to do. I live in Albania and I purchased the phone here, it was a used one. I think at some point the phone was rooted because I had some very strange apps that has to do with rooting apparently (I never rooted a phone and I don't know much).
I want to know if there is a way to have an unlocked firmware. I don't even know what carrier was the phone on the first place.

Try flashing the SM G935FD, it probably had the G935FD firmware flashed on it so that it would work in your region, flashing G935FD again might make it work again.

Okay but, which version of FD? Because I search it and I see versions for countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Nigeria etc etc, and I am not sure if it will be a locked version again.

If it was rooted before, it was probably rooted so that some things could be modified to make it work in your country.
You said you flashed an android 6 firmware then you did an OTA update to android 7. That might be a problem because it might not be able to root again in order to make the modifications that were originally done to make it work in your country.
Here is a link to all the Russian firmware for SM G935FD, try the 6.0 firmware, try the various 6.0 firmwares and see if any of them work. After flashing the 6.0 firmware, if you get a notification saying there is an update available, DO NOT ACCEPT IT, keep the 6.0 android version. You will probably still be blocked by FRP, according to XDA rules, we can't help you bypass FRP, you'll have to figure that out yourself.
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7-edge/SM-G935FD/SER/
Once you get FRP straightened out, do some searches for:
"How to root SM G935FD"
Then you can work on getting it configured to work in your region on your carrier. Sometimes this involves flashing a separate modem(radio) file that has been extracted from a different firmware in order to make your radio work with your specific carrier. You might be in for more than you bargained for. I don't know which specific modifications you'll need or what files you'll need to make it work in your region, im just trying to give you an idea of what you need to look into.
You can try some of the Russian android forums, someone there might know how to make the device work in Albania. You might want to ask around in those forums first before you try anything, that way you won't waste time trying things that might not work. It will save you time if they know where you need to start and what you need.

Hello,
I bought an S7 from eBay, it was marked as a "new" and "UK" phone. I factory reset the device on receipt and apparently worked fine to start with. However, there have been a few problems (poor signal, battery life, echoes in video calls) and I noticed the device was still on Android 6, so wondered if an update to Android 8 might help (?).
There is no menu option available to update Android so I started looking into flashing firmware. On further digging, the device seemed an official SM-G930F but "United Arab Emirates" appears in the "About Phone" section.
I downloaded some stock firmware (Android 8, UK Vodafone which is the network I expect to run it on) and tried flashing with Odin 3.13 and it failed with error "unsupport dev_type" on the phone screen. Any suggestions?
I also noticed that in "Download mode" the phone said it was a "SM-G930V". I wondered if this was why the flash had failed. For the SM-G930V I only seem to be able to get USA/Verizon stock firmware. Might this work or would I have trouble using this in the UK?
Any help would be much appreciated. I'm a newbie in this area so apologies if any of these questions are answered elsewhere.
Many thanks,
Edwin

Go to the play store and install Sam phone info, then look at what chipset it lists, you don't want it to be Qualcomm Snapdragon, Eyxnos is what you want to see.
G930V is US Verizon firmware

Thanks for your reply! The "hardware/board" is "qcom/msm8996". Where does that leave me?
I noticed that the Bootloader & Baseband Versions begin G930VVRU but the PDA and CSC versions begin G930FXXU. Not sure if that means anything.

Well the person who sold it to you is a liar for starters, it's not a "brand new UK device", it's a US S7 (G930V) Originally bought for the Verizon Network in the states. They are difficult to do anything with as the Qualcomm boot loader is locked down.
So your first option is to update the firmware to the latest Verizon Oreo, probably not worth it since that firmware is designed to work on a couple of frequencies only.
Next option is to flash unbranded US firmware with a modified version of Odin that ignores mismatch devices etc and just installs the firmware. You will need to use this version of Odin from this thread >>> here Odin 13 PatchD.zip is the one you want.
Unzip, run Odin, place phone into download mode flash firmware. You will need to download G930U from Sammobile or undato.com The 3 letter code should either be USC or XAA.
Any questions please ask.
Also before flashing please remove you google account off the phone.

Thank you for these detailed instructions -- much appreciated!
Presumably using this version of Odin carries a high risk of bricking the phone if I get anything wrong?
Out of interest, what's the reason for removing the Google account?

Because it's a further complication with FRP lock you just don't need after flashing. Just add the google account after flashing and your good to go.
With regards to flashing yes there's always a risk that something can go wrong, that's why you take your time and follow the steps exactly. In your case it's pretty straight forward and remember nothing changes on the external SD card, so anything you want to keep can be moved there before flash.
I would also mention that theoretically you could flash UK unbranded (BTU) but it's for G930F Exynos devices so best at this stage just get the device on unbranded Qualcomm and working on UK networks.
let me know how it goes.

Hello,
I've just tried doing what you suggested (I think!) and I got a failure. Odin said "FAIL! (Auth)" and the phone said "Secure check fail: apnhlos". I tried rebooting and got a security error. So I tried Odin again and it passed.
However, now the phone won't boot, it alternates between "Samsung Galaxy S7" and a blank screen. In recovery I get:
"#fail to open recovery_cause(No such file or directory)#"
#Reboot Recovery Cause is [UNKNOWN]#
No Support SINGLE-SKU
File-Based OTA

Any ideas?
Thanks a lot,

Ok, so try an earlier G930V firmware and please make sure you are placing the file in the right places with Odin. The US carriers have all updated their firmware and often closes the loophole which allows the patched Odin to work. Then it's just a question of waiting until someone develops a workaround again.
Also you can pick up an S7 from ebay for about £100 now, your always going to have problems with a qualcomm device on UK networks. Where about are you in the UK?

Thanks! Actually shortly after posting I found a suggesting of using CSC not HOME_CSC, which enabled the flash to work (at the expense of phone data, as expected).
The device still does have a few issues though, as you predicted. Is the radio hardware different for Qualcomm? Might need to buy another then. Any advice to avoid being scammed on eBay again?!
Thanks so much!

Well you could flash G930U which opens up all of the radios for the US and you may have less issues but US and European devices have different chips so your never going to be able to flash any EU generic firmware. I'm addition the US and Europe are different cellular regions with different operating frequencies. You can get by with what you have but never get full functionality.
I think you were just unlucky with this phone on ebay, there are plenty which are genuine EU region devices.
Hello.
Got a free phone from a buddy S21 5G. I am wanting to swap it for the S10* 1tb I gave my wife to use it was a bit expensive. So I'd rather ti go back in the box.
Popped the sim in it, it works makes calls sometimes, sometimes not. Texts seem to always work, I am currently on ATT I would prefer to have that firmware as I live in the stick with ho cell service. ATT has wifi calling which is pretty much a necessity here.
So what exactly do I need to do to get this off the VZN fir
Hello. Could you all provide me the links for what I need? Found a link that had a patched Odin plus the firmware. I installed in booted how I was suppose to. Tried to install in and it errored out. Also. I do not know what file to select for the user data selection, I do not mind deleting all data as it 8s hacked up and can put ti back with smart switch.
Hello, did you manage to flash the phone?, I'm stuck with a similar case, mine is a factory unlocked unit from Verizon, it turns out that even if it is factory unlocked, is locked after a few minutes by verizon, I have tried everything to get rid of the VZW firmware but it seems that Verizon locks the bootloader so I can't flash it (it passes om odin and everything but the firmware doesn't change)
I even paid SamKEY credits to change the CSC but it didn't change either.
