Factory reset/clear cache are missing from recovery. Software is stock and up to date. The "download latest version and recovery" option fails. Only other options available are Reboot and Shutdown. Is there any way to fix this?
Thank you very much. Never thought being plugged in would eliminate recovery options.

I am new to android and yesterday I accidentally clicked the red download button when I held the power button down. Then a black screen with yellow text came up and said "don't power off the target!!" I left the phone on for about 30 minutes, but the battery died. Now when I power up the device I get the message com.android.phone has stopped working. I also tried a factory reset but it didn't fix anything. The device is rooted, I checked using the root checker app (i bought the phone from someone). How can I fix this? Any help is appreciated, Thanks.
Try pulling the battery for 10 minutes or so. Do you know what ROM you are running? Only other thing I can think to try is trying to boot into CWM and wiping cache and dalvik. The usually fixes a lot of my issues.

After wiping Dalvik/cache, go into Advanced, and select Fix Permissions, just to cover all of the simple bases. If none of that works, you may have to Heimdall/Odin back to stock and start all over again.
I got into CWM, but there is no option for advanced. There are 4 options: reboot system now, apply update from SD card, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition. There are no other options. Maybe I have an older version of CWM, on the top it says Android system recovery <3e>
Is the wipe cache partition what i have to click to wipe cache. Thanks for the help.

Yes...wipe cache partition to wipe cache.
And it does appear like you have the old 3e Modded Recovery. I forget the version numbers but the CWM recoveries: commonly referred to as green, red and blue, will give you other options including Advanced as mentioned above

If you plan on doing any serious flashing, I'd think you'd want to upgrade to Red CWM. Here's a thread that tells you how.
I'd recommend Method 1:

So I booted into the bootloader and selected recovery. Once you get there, I tried volume up or down to select something, but I don't see anything pop-up. It'd be nice to know how to do a factory reset from recovery or maybe if there is a clear cache and/or dalvik in there? Anyone have a clue?
Thanks!
Factory reset is under settings -> backup & reset. I don't think you will find it in the boot loader menu.

Hi guys, I have a problem. First of all, I dont have custom recovery and I'm not rooted.
The problem is that when I boot in recovery mode and put the "empty cache partition" option, it shows me the SD card but do not empty or wipe the cache.......is anyone else having this problem or knows how to solve it?
Thanks!

I think there is an issue with the Recovery Menu.
Whenever i went to Factory Reset my phone using the Stock Recovery, i noticed i had to highlight & select the option ABOVE the factory Reset option,
If i highlighted the Factory Reset Option, it wouldn't Factory Reset,
What is the option above the "Empty cache partition" option ?

Thanks for your reply. The option above is Factory Reset...I haven't tried it because I'm afraid of doing the factory reset hahhahahaha but I will try it.
Cheers!
The Wifi on my phone wasn't turning on, even after factory reset, so I reflashed stock ROM via Odin (v3.07)
I got stuck in a bootloop, and after factory reset via the stock recovery + wipe of cache partition, it was still stuck.
I then re-flashed the stock ROM. Still stuck.
Tried using Kies 3, with the firmware upgrade and installation tab. Said something about not supporting my phone when I was prompted to plug it in. (SM-G355H; Samsung Galaxy Core II Duos)
I then found an unofficial version of CWM v6 for my phone (there's no official support), and quickly flashed that (via Odin 3.09; which is what I use from this point on), forgetting that my phone was no longer rooted. I wiped davlik cache and data. Still stuck. Then I rooted my phone. Stuck.
Then I reflashed stock ROM (this time, I downloaded from another website) (to test my luck, I tried seeing if simply a factory reset and cache wipe would work. It did not) rooted my phone, and flashed CWM. Wiped davlik cache. Still stuck.
By the way, when I wipe davlik cache it says:
Warning: no file_contexts
E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]
Davlik Cache wiped.
Any ideas on what to do now? I can't send it to a manufacturer / repair store where I live. I'm thinking maybe I should untick Auto Reboot and/or F. Reset Time when flashing, use an earlier version of Odin or the ROM itself, or maybe there is something I can do with ADB? I'm not very familiar with it, but I'm more than willing to learn. I just need some direction...
Update: Flashed with Auto Reboot unticked. Still in bootloop.
Flashed with same ROM, different country. Still in bootloop.
Alright, I fixed it by using Kies, via firmware upgrade and installation. You have to ignore where it says that your device is not supported, and just leave it to download. If you get stuck on the setup screen like I did, try cache wipe + factory reset. If it doesn't work flash an earlier version of the firmware. You might be using the wrong region (It's not always your country), use Kies to check. When it tells you what pda/ modem / csc it wants to update the region will be in parentheses ( eg ACR). Use all of them possible
LG Volt LS740. Phone is not rooted, it's all stock.
I can access the screen that says:
reboot system now
apply update from external SD card
apply update from cache
apply update from ADB
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
I can't post a link, but if you go to imgur, you can add this to the end of the url to see the screen: iLR0RL9.png
I tried 'wipe cache partition', but it didn't fix the problem.
I can also access a download mode screen, that just says 'Firmware Update'
Same thing with imgur here: MliSRUh.png
Is there any way to pull the data off the phone, before I try a factory reset? I've been searching and trying things for a few days, and haven't found anything that works... wondering if you guys might know.
Thanks for any help.

If the device is not rooted and does not have USB debugging enabled in developer options, then, sadly, no, there isn't.
