Rooted S7, how to extract the stock wallpaper? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Themes, Apps, and Mods

I've looked around but most of the wallpapers online are lossy - .jpg, or resized from the originals. I'd like to port these wallpapers to other devices. Where do I look to find them? Starting with the S6 the root location looks to be different.

Thank you, I was able to locate this and unzip it, but only one wallpaper is in it. Does it only save the current wallpaper?

This is incomplete, it doesn't have any of the lock screen wallpapers.

Set your S7 to QHD (screen settings) open one of the wallpaper in a photo app and make a screenshot. Thats one way to get them.

I used qmg2png app, and decompiled framework-res and systemui. However, neither gave me the proper wallpapers. Best I could get was this, which is the wrong size and looks wrong compared to the others:

Not sure what format they need to be in, but here is what appears to be the .psd template for those icons:
http://robbiekhan.co.uk/root/android/Android Launcher Pro Custom Icon Template Text Version.psd
They need to be in png format. That file is used to make custom icons with photoshop I believe. Unfortunately I don't have a computer so.. i need the png files.
You all just didn't look hard enough. There is a directory for all of his icons. Took me all of half a minute to find.

The files can be edited in photoshop, the only layers visible should be the text that you want to see as the icon.
After you get them how you'd like, save them as PNG files and copy them to your SD card and you're good to go.
can somebody just turn them into .png n post them plz

Wallpaper gets cropped.

Is there a fix for the cropping of wallpapers?
On CM7, I use the Crop Wallpaper app. Works well.
i've not this problem
Yes transfer the image on your computer and use a image editing tool like GIMP and resize the image to 540 x 960 and save the image. Then transfer the edited image back to your Sensation and it should fit perfectly.
No I mean I don't want to crop, that is the point, the wallpapers are the correct size but when you try to set them you get a square box.
I think it is a problem with 3.5 ROMs and above.

[Q] CM7 wallpaper size

Rooted my Fire and installed CM7. I am trying to install wallpaper but i cant get the size figured out. When i go to set the jpg as the wallpaper it is making me draw a box around an area and the box is smaller than the jpg. The wallpapers that come with CM7 work and look great, but i cant figure out the size of the screen for wallpapers i want to make. Thanks
Something like 960x800 (default Zedge wallpapers size) worked for me.
Take a look on that pack.
Around 40 wallpapers from there, simply chosen by me.

can you get the zedge app on the amazon app market?
Can't tell you, I'm on CM7.
Try simply search for "Zedge" or if you can't get it through Amazon, try to sideload it. Apk for you is right here.
The app is free, so nothing criminal, I think.
It looks like the wallpaper size is actually 1024x600
I'm having an issue installing wallpapers. I'm trying to pull them from my gallery but it keeps re-sizing.
Is there some trick to keeping the original size?

This appears to be the same problem i am having. The gallery is making me re-size the pic.
Same thing for me it forces me to resize and the quality turns to crap
No luck. I tried .jgp and .png files. Tried all kinds of different sizes and it still makes me crop it......
Have this problem with Gallery too.
Only option now for me is 960x800, at least looking not so low-res.
I tend to stick to very simple Live Wallpapers or none at all due to how fugly any image file tends to look
anyone come up with a solution to this problem yet?
this stupid problem ... I too annoying.
I just set wallpapers through PicSpeed Wallpapers. When it asks you to resize, pick the portrait box and it looks good
Sent from my Samsung Fascinate on the XDA app
If you search google for a wallpaper that is 2048x1600 or something huge like that and use it on CM7 it works out looking great, at least it did for me.

You can do this with WallBase. make sure whatever wallpapers you want(whether they be from your pc or downloaded on to your Kindle) are in the "saved" folder of the "WallBase" folder. You don't even have to resize it. It also keeps all the images high res.

Sense 4.0 all app background image

Hi there!
One of the thing that I'm struggling with HTC is the fact that from the moment the have moved to android they have always put the black background on the all apps menu which isn't so beautiful. Is there anyway here who know if it could be possible to have, at least, the same background image of the home for the all apps menu?
P.S. And by the way I don't get why is not possible to customize the background iamge of the all apps menu, come on this was possible on windows mobile!!!!

i havent had a chance to look into sense 4.0 yet but in sense 3.0 all apps background was a color reference in the rosie apk > res > layout> all apps view .xml
you can edit the code to reference a wallpaper of your own
i was having trouble decompiling sense 4 files so didnt really look into it

yea you sure can, easiest is to make the background transparent so the home screen wallpaper is visible but you can surely make it reference an image

Well of course, you extracted it with 7zip. Grab apktool or something else that can unpack APKs properly and decrypt the XMLs etc., use it to extract the APK and then you should be able to edit it easily enough.
EDIT: You'll also need to pull com.htc.resources.apk from /system/framework and install it with the command
Code:
apktool if com.htc.resources.apk
to properly decrypt the APK
EDIT: Although I can't find the XML referenced above in the Rosie.apk from my Sense 3.5 device...(HTC Explorer).
EDIT: In res\values\colors.xml I found a reference for a colour "all_item_background" which is #ff000000 (i.e. black), but it only appears to be used for as the colour for some text. Despite not really wanting to have a transparent background here, it's bugging me.

Galaxy Y is a Samsung phone, so it doesn't have Sense. It has TouchWiz. So the launcher is different to the Sense one. It is almost certainly possible to do a similar thing, but it won't be done exactly the same.
I believe the TouchWiz launcher it called twlauncher.apk or something like that. Pull that file off your phone and use apktool to extract it, look in the XMLs in res\layout and try to find the background colour. It'll probably be #ff000000. You could try using something like grep to search for that in the folder to try and narrow down the possibilities.
Just a few thoughts that might possibly help.

Well that is easily done once the right value is found in the right XML. It's find the value that is the tricky part.

Can you not just save the file and convert to jpg if required?
Exactly. Just download the pic and put it into your phone. Choose the file in your wallpapers settings and you are done. An icon is just a smaller version of a picture, it's not any different from a normal wallpaper file.
But I'm afraid that there will be a lot of pixel
up
not sure what the problem is. Download the image. Its already in png format(which is good since it supports transparency, and is optimal for icons)
Then use a launcher like apex or nova to change the icon of your desired app to the one you downloaded. Also its 96x96 pixels so nothing needs to be resized.

It is physically impossible to stretch this small image without it ending up being distorted by the small number of original pixels in the picture. I am sorry, but you are going to have to use an image like this:

You can't open the link because I put some "spaces" in there so I could post it here. xda does not allow new members to post outside links, only if they have over 10 posts on the forums. so just copy the link and look for the 2 or 3 spaces I put in there, delete them and look at the picture, because I think I found something really close to what you are looking for!
And there is no software that manages to do that. There is a feature on Photoshop or similar software that I know of that is able to reduce pixelation although it is not as good as you might think and it definitely can't make a small picture like this into a usable wallpaper...
Yes I forgot a space ! It's closed but not the same. Thank you for your help
