Project Treble support - Honor 9i Questions & Answers

Can anyone confirm if Honor 9i has project support treble support inbuilt? Once the Phone is updated to Oreo and if it is Treble supported Porting of ROM will be much faster and cleaner. It will definitely aid horizontal ROM development irrespective of SOC in the device.

Dude, i know Trebel is for Oreo. But if anyone can confirm Honor 9i has required support (Most probably the partition requirement). Honor 8 Pro is Nougat based phone but Huawei has confirmed that the phone will support Trebel once it is updated to Oreo. Hope this helps.

Will honor 4C get nougat 7.0 update?

Or can Honor 4c flash any android 7.0 rom?
Dude are you kidding?
Honor has abandoned our device long ago many of the users are even stuck with Kitkat version.(As the MM update is not available through OTA in some regions but manual update possible)
Even similar device P8 lite with 2 years updates guaranteed wont get Nougat official update.
Dont keep hope for Official Nougat update just move on.
If you really wish to have Nougat builds on your device try customs Roms from P8 Lite thread.
PS: Don't bother the devs as the device is not officially supported by them , you can use most of the features but few bugs are present for Nougat builds but MM builds works fine .

Same chipset doesnt mean we can install ROMs vice versa .
There are also some other factors will are required in order to do so.
I have no idea regarding honor 8 and mate 8

Mist , we can port roms from same chipset . If all specs are similar we can flash its roms on one anothers
Yes if specs are same we can but if they arent you have to make some complex ports thats what I meant.
Well , complex part mean u have to edit full framework. Editing many files like even settings dialer system ui . Omg thats harder than building a rom from source
Yes that's what I mean even you do so there won't be guaranteed results.
Yes . There will a list of bugs which cant be fixed.this is why i always use sources to build.
But we have not got complete sources for this device so that option is out of question.
Yeah .. we can even port for a fully working wrong but that will be pretty hard.
Devs like surdu,Xepeleato, olddroid are finding it difficult for this device without sources so its out of my capability. So no hope for me.
Its hard to build a rom without kernel sources. But a rom can be build using prebuild kernel if u may not know.
Before honor released kernel sources , surdu build cm14.1 using stock kernel.

Treble and the Honor 8

So I just read some stuff about Treble and how it could speed up ROM development on devices that support it. Can anyone here who knows more about the subject comment on getting support to the Honor 8?

If I got it right, it needs Android Oreo official support.
Yep, Treble support depends on manufacturer. However, we first need Oreo update in order to check if Treble is supported on H8. And yes, custom ROM development will speed up. There have been pretty stable and almost bugless ROMs for Huawei devices (with no 60 fps bug, he composition, full camera support) which have Treble Support with the latest Oreo update.

I dont think Honor 8 will receive Oreo update
I hope it gets updated :crying: if not honor can kma.
Could I use the beta version? I don't think they will release oreo for honor 8. What about changing from L09 to AL00? Then I will need only TWRP with Oreo support in order to flash Treble Roms. I hope that only emui is unstable on this device. Even if the beta is unstable, could the vendor part be stable?
I think that the beta firmware for Honor 8 does support treble.

Official LOS or RROS

Anyone working on official custom builds of LOS or RROS for honor 8(frd)? emui sucks.
They have unofficial ones (though the battery life sucks on both). I would recommend AOSPA (paranoid android) which I am currently using.
Wait until EMUI 8.0 With Oreo and Treble drops, then use a Treble compatible ROM, if you look at the Honor 8 Pro forums, they already use a Treble ROM which is near perfect. Should be the same for us then just a little more patience.

I don't have doubts, Honor France and Honor Poland both said that the Honor 8 will get EMUI 8.0, they also mentioned that "One does not go with the other" in other meaning "EMUI 8.0 doesn't work without Oreo" which means that EMUI 8.0 will also include Oreo. If it was only a feature update/ported features, they would have called it EMUI 5.2 like they did before with EMUI 5.0.1.
Also all Huawei/Honor phone get Treble alongside Oreo since they already use their own vendor partition which means they don't have to reformat the device (which COULD result into a brick, thats why OnePlus and Nokia won't include Treble on the Oreo updates).

Hello, EMUI 8.0 Beta for Honor 8 is "Treble compatible" and there is no dual systems partitions (for background updates feature).
I don't want to try to flash a treble ROM on my FRD-AL00, it's so scary! xD

Treble ?

I think its basically be able to install custom roms without root with adb or something like that. For example you could use treble to upgrade from android 8 to android 9 I think with treble without root.
Yes, Honor 8 android 8 supports treble for the Honor 8, im pretty sure that someone made a screenshot of the Honor 8 with verified treble support from android 8.
On an abstract level, think of it like placing the Android code in separate files and the hardware code in separate files. Treble ensures that whatever is the hardware code, any build of Android should be able to support the hardware implementation and run it without any issues.
