Hello,
I have been trying to find an answer to my question or a solution but all the results I found on XDA are Snapdragon model oriented.
My question is about changing the CSC just to be able to receive OTA updates faster ( I don't want Samsung Pay ..) . I aleady know that the product code is hardcoded into the phone I just need to change last three letters of the CSC.
My rom is part of the OXM multi-CSC rom, I flashed it and tried the famous code to change the CSC region but no results so far. I also do not have any other sim card to trick the phone after factory reset.
Could anyone please help ? has anyone been able to change CSC via odin ?
Regards.
Can anyone help please ? is my question a little bit confusing ?

Changing CSCs isn't possible without root or without a local SIM card from the country whose CSC you want to use.
If you're so eager to get faster updates, just flash them with HOME_CSC_OXM as they are released, you won't lose your data and you'll be on the latest OXM builds as well.

I've looked everywhere and can't find a proper walkthrough/tutorial for my questions
I have a g930w8 S7 canada which is a multi csc phone, i want to change the csc to another carrier that i'm now subscribed to and further they have newer update then old carrier.
So i'm wondering what my best choice is
1. change csc with *#272*IMEI# code, without sim in, let it reset, power off and then clear cache through recovery menu, then put sim in and it's essentially that new carriers phone? And latest firmware/ later otas would be to said new carrier?
2. flash latest new carrier firmware through odin and voila new carrier phone?
Which option is better? 1 is easier but does it change active csc and then when new update downloads does it change firmware csc?
Thanks for your help

Hi mate
assuming you are not root
option 1 is good but is not working anymore in most phones , once you change your CSC it stay active until you flash a different firmware with different CSC
option 2 maybe your only option , all canadian firmwares i see they seem to be single CSC , which one are you looking for? if so just flash it ( use CSC file , not home_csc) and you are done......backup csc change will factory reset your phone
I am just wondering if anyone with a Samsung S7 Duos has received the update. Someone told me to look at the CSC code, but never explained what that would tell me.
My CSC code is: G930FOJV1BPK2
Now sure what that means or if will tell me when I can expect the OTA to nougat. Any help?
It means that you would get the OTA if your CSC firmware area has received them. I have DUOS or G930FD with XSG CSC, and this particular CSC received the updated, but I already had side loaded it so I can't say for sure when or if I was going to receive it eventually.

Thanks for the info, but what is my CSC area? And how do I check if that area got the firmware?
The CSC is the code that sets what region your phone is intended for. You can use Phone Info to look up what it is set to:

They're almost all made in Vietnam. You need to swipe across to the next tab called CSC Code and there will be a line there called Active CSC Code which will be a three letter code like THL or XSA.
It's possible to flash a different CSC and firmware fairly easily using a tool called Odin. There's lots of guides on here about how to do it. Personally I'm just being patient and waiting for it to start rolling out to more countries. But a lot of people are flashing the British CSC and firmware (BTU) to get the update now.
So the code I have is AFR (Kenya / AE) How does this help me know when / if the upgrade is available?

First off, the OS update will be available at some point. When is pretty much impossible to say. As far as I know, only a handful of CSC have recieved N OS, your best bet if you want to install it on your S7 now is by sideload it using ODIN which is a very easy process that won't affect your warranty. Look for a source of the flashable firmware (sammobile for example) and follow the instructions. There are tons of videos on YT showing the upgrade process ass well.
Hello, I first bought my phone from Taiwan and the CSC was pointing to BRI(Taiwan) at first but now after flashing Germany's Oreo firmware by following the xda thread, it no longer shows anything in my avaliable CSC, I'm only getting CHO(Chile) and nothing else. Is there a possible fix? I also tried flashing Taiwans firmware for nougat but still ended up with CHO service provider.
Im trying to get back to stock Taiwan firmware because they now have oreo update and supports Samsung Pay while the Germany's firmware doesn't support at all.
Also I accidentally reset my phone with Canada's Sim card in while factory resetting once.
I've attached an image of my phone's CSC info
Any help is appreciated. Thank you
EDIT: another thing I noticed was my phone model changed from SM-G955FD to SM-G955F, is there any way to get it back to FD somehow? In my settings. About phone, it does say SM-G955FD still though
If you change the 'model' of your phone via a flash, you need to flash/change the CSC with the same 'model' of the OS you used.
If it seems a bit convoluted, I'd flash back to full OEM, and make sure that is all OK, and then flash the proper CSC package.

Firmwares for SM-G955F and SM-G955FD are IDENTICAL, your model number has not changed. To change CSC I had to install FW with new CSC, then do factory reset and after first boot I got prompted whether I want to change my CSC (based on inserted SIM card), confirmed, the phone did factory reset again and got new CSC installed. Also, Canada is not included within OXM multi-CSC package as G955F/FD is not sold there (or at least not officially).

Thank you both for your help. I'll try and flash just the CSC firmware then reset when samsung decides to push the OTA again and will see if that solves it. The firmware for Taiwan came out only a few days before they took it out so didn't have a chance to download it.
Hi guys! I tried posting to a different forums but no luck in replies. So, I tried to go here and find some answers.
So, Im waiting for the official update for my phone (SM-G610Y - here's my latest firmware: PDA - G610YZTU1AQF2, CSC - G610YOLC1AQF1), but Im planning to flash a new firmware. Although, since PH-OpenLine havent rolled-out a firmware nougat update, I want to use Australia's firmware (PDA - G610YZTU1BRC3, CSC - G610YXSA1BRC3).
Questions:
-Will my phone still work if I will do it? And will my device status change from official to custom?
-Should I use all four files (BL, AP, CP, CSC) when flashing the update/firmware?
-Will there be any conflicts/problems?
-If it caused a problem, can factory reset (as others said in other forums) work to revert back to the original and official status of the phone? Or will there be any solutions to rollback?
Thank you!!!
Hi
Install this software .... Phone INFO ★Samsung★
The CSC tab (page 2) will show you the compatible CSC codes for your device. I.e. installing official software from those countries should be ok.
Flashing official software won't change your status, aka trip knox
Flashing your original, official software should restore to factory state.
Good luck!
Thank you for replying and answering some of my questions.
So I decided to use Australia's firmware. I just wanna ask which one is the compatible csc? Is it the available csc from the phone info app? If yes, XSA is not included, what will be the problems when I continue to flash it (if there are any)?
And more importantly, should I flash all 4 files or just AP? And any important matters before I flash?
Thank you!
If XSA is not on the CSC list, you need to take care that the mobile networks in Australia are compatible with those in your home country - both gsm?
Also I would avoid a network specific firmware.
Any specific reason for choosing XSA?
Flash all 4 files.
Sent from my SM-J700F using Tapatalk
How about I update using XSA and changing my CSC code after the update is finished? Will it work?
Whats a network specific firmware? Is it the one uploaded in the sammobile (thats where my firmware came from)?
And no, I dont have any specific reason for choosing XSA. I only have 3 options (NZC, VFJ, and XSA).
Sorry for being a newbie and thank you so much

If your home network and Australia use the same radio tech i.e. gsm, no need to change the CSC, just upate

E.g. for Israel (ILO) is generic for rest of Israel. There's also firmware specific for Pelephone in Israel (PCL)[/I]

I see why now .... Here is a faster source .... you can use a download accelerator 610Y firmware on Updato.com
Download and enjoy!

More on the network specific firmware - for Phillipines XTC would be generic (Open Line). XLA Smart and GLB Globe would be network specific.
Okay, I'll try it later. Thank you so much!

It is not possible to change CSC without tripping Knox. You must unlock the bootloader to change the CSC.

Unlock the bootloader and use Odin to flash OXM firmware. OXM is multi-CSC, so you should be able to change region to India.
Don't forget you can use the Search function to look for solutions to questions that have been asked many, many times before.

If you unlock your bootloader, you can install any CSC you want, so you'd just download INS firmware and flash it using Odin.
Or, you can flash the OXM firmware and simply change the region to India, as I stated in my first reply.
Ok i got that now second major issue is that i cannot unlock my bootloader as my developers option is not showing oem unlocking
no need to unlock your bootloader to change the CSC, just use this application to do so

Can you suggest best US based csc with regular ota updates as i am not getting ota update on gcf....stuck on may security patch update....
Can GCF based devices get ota updates i read it in someone's post that they can be only updated via odin or sideloading
GCF gives more LTE and 5G bands support so maybe that's why your phone has it set on that. You can change it to XAA as it's bloatware free and gets regular updates.

Wanted to ask it just out of curiosity....there is no way to change my csc from USA version to Indain version....by any means?
I don't think this is possible... and that's why Samsung has different variants for different countries ...
Okkk....
But by any chance u get to know that it can be changed to Indian csc please do let me know it will be very helpful
Thinking of flashing this firmware update via odin....device model number : SM-S908UZKEVZW
Region:VZW
OP, Are you sure it is an "unlocked" version? Based on he last three charactors of the model# you provided says it is a Verizon branded phone. Yes, technically it was unlocked after 60 days, but since you are not connected to Verizon's network, that may be the reason you are not getting OTA updates.

As for unlocking the bootloader, none of the US variants' bootloaders are unlockable.
I changed my csc code from GCF to USC and now in sim card manager settings it is showing only sim1 option and esim no sim2 option is available
