Screen Burn In: Do you Suffer? - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Hello. I've been noticing lately that on screen with white backgrounds, I have burn in where the white isn't as bright. I've tested with several screen burn in apps, looking at solid colors, and 100% my phone has burn in. It's pretty big and noticeable too. What's the solution? Just file a claim and get a new phone? My phone is under a year, this should be covered right?

[Q] Defective Replacement Screen

Looking for opinions.
Ordered my 5 on day one. It had a stuck pixel and a little bleed. Probably should have RMA, but wanted to wait a bit. As luck would have it I cracked the screen before I got around to it. So I replaced it myself with this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HKL3DEM/ref=oss_product
After 2 months use, the screen has rapidly deteriorated. I can even notice the defects in TWRP and on the boot screen. Doesn't TWRP kind of load it's own kernel? That kind of rules out any kind of software problems. Any suggestions for where to get a more reliable screen replacement? I sent the following to the seller:
Hi,
I carefully read the reviews on this product. Some claimed that the screen may not be OEM equipment and was not as pictured in the display. It seemed like a risk, but I needed a screen.
I have replaced many screens several of my devices and my children's devices. The swap was effortless. When I booted my phone with the new screen, it appeared to be a major success again. There were no dead or stuck pixels and minimal back light bleed around the edges. The only noticeable issue was a very bright area around the soft keys. Particularly on white pages.
The screen was installed in early April, and recently I have noticed it become gradually duller with an increase of bleed around the edges. Then yesterday, things got much worse very quickly. I noticed greenish bleed/band around all edges. The bright white around the soft keys is brighter. There is a 1/8 inch band around the top of the screen that is very dark. It is not very bright and the colors are dull. From previous experiences, I know that these are signs that it will only get worse.
One of the reviews talked about a similar situation: Looked great at first, and deteriorated after a month or so.
I would like to request a replacement screen for my Nexus 5.
Thank you.

In-Display frame and a spot

Hi everyone.
Just got my new S6 (non edge) today. While I'm installing my apps by sitting in the garden, the sun shines directly to the display and I saw just two things I can not recognize.
Around the display is a frame inside, which is showing up, when there is a white background in a lighten environment where the auto brightness is setting up to a maximum . Its hard to photograph, but I tried it. The "zebra-look/stripes" are from taking the photo, its not present on the display.
After that I saw a spot on the upper side in the middle of the display, too.
Anyone else? Or is this no problem? Doesn't looks nice when the sun is shining and you are using the phone...

My phone has the same thing when in direct sunlight showing a white image I can see what looks kind of like a faint black border on the edge like in your bottom left corner picture.
I literally just saw this when I was outside today, fortunately I was not able to see it inside or under normal lighting conditions. It's most likely a shadow of sorts from light reflecting inside the display assembly. I don't think it's a big deal tbh.
Yeah quite possibly a shadow of the assembly. My fingers make shadows on the screen in direct sunlight unlike any phone I've seen before.
If you look hard enough, it looks like a G.
Its rhe panel in behind the screen guys

Backlight bleeding

I got my Mi4C a few days ago and like it very much so far, but noticed some backlight bleeding.
It´s only visible on grey background (AdAway or Fire TV app) so i don´t know if my device is broken or not.
Adding a picture for example below but i have to say that in reality its less visible than on the picture.
Please look at the right and left edges.
How about your Mi4C?
Basically just want to know if its faulty and i should get a new one or maybe "Bad construction design" by xiaomi? Now i notice it almost everywhere btw
What exactly is the issue? You mean that the screen is bright at the edges? I think mine is a bit too but it's hard to notice. Can you provide more photos?
My backlight is visable at extreme angels so i think it is just the Sharp display used. It is not the highest quality of components.
I have some light bleed on the top, only visible with a status bar color other than black or white, so kind of a non issue for me
@Ydraulikos
Yes, thats exactly what i mean. The edges of the screen are brighter. Especially the edge marked yellow on the picture.
The other ones are only visible if you look hard for it.

Little round white spots on screen 2 replacements.

Hi guys,
I have replaced the screen in my nexus 5 twice now. I purchased the screens from Amazon. The first screen on white backgrounds I would kind of see a square image on the screen in white. It kind of looked like the outline of the battery. It also had a few white spots on the screen. I tried loosening some of the screws but it didn't help. I contacted the seller and he recommended another replacement. He sent out another screen plus digitizer and frame.
The new screen arrived and I put it in. This screen is a lit better. I know only get 3 tiny white spots about the size of the screws in the nexus 5. Two look like they are where the battery would be inside the phone. The third is about 3 quarters of the way up the screen in the middle and slightly to the left. Why does this keep happening? Anyone got any ideas on what could be causing this?
One thing I have noticed is in the dark with the screen on around the sides of the phone in places I can see slivers of light shining around the screen. It seams that the tape that the screen provider used was not sticky enough. Could this be what is causing the white spots? The screen seams firmly attached at the top and bottom just the sides. I heated it up with a blow dryer and held the screen down till it cooled. It slowly goes back to the way it was.
Thanks,
Rocky
Light bleeding from the edges of the frame in a dark environment is not uncommon with 3rd party screens. Putting on a case can help a lot.
As for the white spots, it may be a manufacturing defect that has nothing to do with the way you assembled the phone.
So there is nothing that can be done about the white spots? I don't understand how both screens did this. Seams like there is a very high failure rate. From comparison and matching numbers s to the stock digitizer the replacement seams to be a stock digitizer and frame. The white spots are annoying.
It's possible that both screens came from the same production run. I used screens from aliexpress and only one had a bit of light bleed around the frame. Once I put on a case, you could not see the light bleed.
None of the replacement screens had any dead or stuck pixels or hot spots.

i am not sure if its really a screen burn, but a few marks on screen i could be wrong
Could you take a picture of your screen? To determine if it is burn in. Can't imagine because of would require to display the keyboard several hours if not longer.
It has like marks on the screen ,I changed covers it got reduced
Is it like scuffs on the screen it's self? Maybe from a case or something using against the screen? If you had a screen burn image left it would look roughly faint yellowish and cloudy, if it's not like a faint image of a icon or something along those lines.
Lol I have the same thing. The entire keyboard got burnt in and the WhatsApp logo. Extremely visible on white backgrounds. Happens when you put the S6 to full brightness and leave it on for a night or so. It is safe to carry, but dont expect the screenburn to go away
Here's the burn in on mine. Sorry the picture is not the best, I had to use an old Nexus 5 to take it. It was like that when I bought it. The lady that sold it to me owned it for a year and a half.
I'm a lot more careful about leaving images on the screen that will burn in. I even change my dock icons regularly.
