hotspot and tethering problem (SOLVED)!!! - Sony Xperia XZ Premium Questions & Answers

hi everyone...
maybe this is a commun issue to many XZ Premium users... my wifi hotspot tethering is not working since i bought the phone on android 7.1.1 and now i have updated to android oreo 8.0.0 latest build number: 47.1.A.5.51 and the wifi tethering still not working...
i tried to connect my laptop and other smartphone to my XZ Premium hotspot, but it doesn't detect it at all. I even tried this solution:
adb shell command: settings put global tether_dun_required 0
i booted in safe mode too but... it didn't work for me either!
...I have performed a software repair thru Xperia companion, and I also did factory reset and all ''from scratch'' things.... but the problem still persist....
I tried with different options..., and of course ''Discoverable'' was selected, and power save: Never , i even made it public without WPA2 key, changed the SSID name... but: NONE HAVE WORKED AND IT'S STILL NOT DISCOVERABLE to any device!
My carrier doesn't set any hotspot restriction, so my data plan is unlimited to be used freely.
I almost tried all the known solutions but none have worked unless i'm missing something or i still have other way to go thru....
ANY SUGGESTION OR SOLUTION PLEASE?
I appreciate all your effort!
THANK YOU!
PROBLEM SOLVED: FLASHED CENTRAL EUROPE 1 AND HOTSPOT WORKED FOR ME!

Check your apn and compare it to a newer phone from the same carrier such as a Galaxy S8.

thanks for the respond. Basically, I checked on different phones and it's the same APN, and the phone's hotspot not detected!
any other suggestion?

Make sure the wifi works on your phone. It sounds hardware related if you can't send a signal from the wifi
---------- Post added at 07:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:40 PM ----------
Also try using an app called Foxfi before asking to get it repaired.

wifi works on the phone... but as for hotspot tethering it doesn't get detected as i mentioned! also i just installed FoxFi and using it now but it's not working either!
also i tried an app called ''Send Anywhere'' it uses the Wifi instead of bluetooth to send and receive files, and i wanted to test the wifi send/receive. So, I did file exchange(sending/receiving) between my xz premium and my laptop, and it worked.
how its hardware and the wifi itself work in the phone?
what's the technical hardware problem if so?
thanks

If wifi works then it can't be hardware because you send and receive packets using the same hardware. Be sure you see what I've posted on the wifi hotspot menu.

You don't want to use Bluetooth anyways as a hotspot. Bluetooth is slow.

yes, same like you...
here's my screenshot!
... it's so strange after all that, and its still not detected!
i really don't know what to do more

Disable one sim card
I had the same problem since I bought the phone.
But after trying with many suggestions, the way I found to solve the problem was disabling one of the two sim cards, then my wifi zone was detected by the other devices.

...thanks for the respond, but my XZ Premium is not dual sim. so i only have 1 sim card!

Hi again,
Today I managed to get the error from logcat using adb when I start the hotspot. Please see below.
Seems the host access point daemon is complaining with the channel it is being asked to use as the hardware will not support it.
This starts to exceed my knowledge, but we may get help from experienced developers here if we're in luck.
Not sure yet, but If I decide to root the phone I will attach hostapd.conf as I am not allowed as a standard user.
My next check would be trying to start hostapd manually, but again, this is unknown terrain for me.
Regards,
Alvaro.

Hi again,
I have another device, an Xperia Z2, which I don't use any more, in which the Hotspot works fine (same mobile operator btw).
I rooted the Z2 and checked the file, (normal user does not have permissions to see the file).
I found that channel 1 is called instead. I suspect that if I change the channel to 1 on either XZP or XZ1 the daemon will start.
I am stuck now as these two Oreo devices I own are under warranty but at least wanted to share these findings.
kind regards,
Alvaro.

Hi, rooting the phone is needed for modifying the file hostapd.conf as most system configuration files. Mortals can't even cat the file. If someone knows a workaround I really appreciate.
Best regards

Hi again,
Coming with good news: Update 47.1.A.12.179 that came OTA today fixed the WiFi tethering problem.
This was not a HW problem as I thought and was addressed with an update.
Looking forward the WiFi-dropping problem falls within this category as well.
Thanks,

[Q] Wireless-N not work

Have faced a problem that my HTC One S don't connect to wi-fi N access point. It stucks at authentication. If I disable N-mode at AP - the phone connects normally. Does anybody have such problem? In both cases WPA2 is used.
bump.... so no one have such problems? or no one is using wifi-n?
have you try the advanced option of wi-fi?

Does your router have the option for WPA+WPA2 not just one or the other? If so try enabling the setting to use both.

P.S.
I'm also have HTC Incredible S and it connects to AP normally in all possible modes while One S won't.

[Q] Cyanogenmod 10 Nightly build(s) wifi issues

Hi all,
I recently purchased a SGS3 and ran the stock ROM for approx 30mins before flashing a CM10 nightly build (i9300 intl). Because of this I am unable to verify if the wifi was working on my home router prior to flashing a custom ROM.
At work I am able to connect to our wifi connection without problemson 2.4ghz or 5ghz. At home I've got a D-Link DSL-G604T wireless router which I am unable to connect to. I've tried changing the wifi channel, password, removing protection, factory reset and installed a seperate CM10 nightly build without any help.
When trying to connect to the WIFI connection I get the following output in adb logcat.
Anyone have any ideas what may be stopping me from connecting ot my wifi?

[Q] Wifi won't enable?

Hello everyone,
Can somebody give me an advice related to the following issue ?
A friend of mine bought two months ago a Huawei G510 smartphone. I never ever recommend somebody to buy a Huawei, but he told me: "It's okay, you know the phones doesn't last a lot in my hands".
And again...he proved this was true. After one month he dropped the phone in a sink full of water.
He sent it to me into a bowl with rice, I opened it, cleaned it and the phone is working fine right now. But there is an issue: Wifi won't start. I factory reset the phone, I opened again to check if there is any cable disconnected...but everything is fine.
I extracted the phone catlog and this is what I get related to the wifi:
Code:
E/WifiStateMachine( 432): Failed to start supplicant!
W/CommandListener( 147): Failed to retrieve HW addr for eth0 (No such device)
E/WifiStateMachine( 432): Unable to change interface settings: java.lang.IllegalStateException: command '28 interface setcfg eth0 0.0.0.0 0 down' failed with '400 28 Failed to set address (No such device)'

E/wpa_supplicant( 1890): Could not read interface eth0 flags: No such device
E/wpa_supplicant( 1890): eth0: Failed to initialize driver interface
Can somebody tell me what it can be ? Is the modem roasted ? Any solution or idea ?
Thank you.

[Completed] Cannot connect to ad-hoc wifi in Samsung matisse tablet 10.1 with BlissPop-last

Hi,
I try to connect my samsung wifi matisse 10.1, with the last ROM BlissPop installed, to an existing (and confirmed that works well) ad-hoc wifi. I don't want to make a hotspot from the tablet: this feature works perfectly. The system identifies the network as ad-hoc and asks for the WEP (128 ASCII) pass ... but after several times disconnects. This is the logcat from adb:
E/WifiConfigStore( 710): SSID temp disabled for "NetBot"-WEP had autoJoinStatus=0 self added false ephemeral false
