Upgrade version before root? - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

Hi,
I just got my pixel today and am looking to root it. I see tutorials for rooting 8.0 but right now I am on 7.1.1 and didn't see anything for that. Should I upgrade to 8.0 and then root? Or root now on 7.1.1?
Edit: nevermind, turns out it was a Verizon edition, so I sent it back.
Thanks,

[q] 9.30.1 > 9.18.1

I saw a thread on here about trying to downgrade to 9.18 in order to root/safestrap..I'm running 9.30..1 and was wondering if that was possible? I didn't see an answer. I'm kind of a noob when it comes to Droids. I just got my first one a couple days ago after coming from a Galaxy Note N7000.
So is it possible to downgrade to root and safestrap? Or if not, are there other options?

If you didn't see the answer, you didn't search hard enough. No, you can't downgrade, and no there are no other options to root .1, unless you have an unlocked bootloader.

I want to... Sprint - SM-N915P (4.4.4) Note Edge

Hi, I have a Sprint Note Edge running Android 4.4.4 and I have previously rooted it in the past.
However, I'm not 100% sure what I did to root it as I did this back in February and I have since to do
anything else root related since then.
Model number is SM-N915P.
I have root currently, and its running android 4.4.4
I want to, if possible, update to 5.1. And I want to make sure I still have root.
Can someone kind of guide me along? Its been a while and I'm not sure where to start.
Links to threads/etc would be appreciated.
Much thanks in advance.
Do not update to 5.1 Lots of people complaining about it right now. And if you do update, you cannot downgrade ever

Okay. I appreciate it. I'll hold out.
Right now my phone is running kind of slow though. Is there anything you'd suggest to speed it up?
For example it hangs sometimes when going to the camera app and switching to the gallery.

Brand new galaxy s6 edge.... How to get root and xposed

Hello, I just got a brand new verizon galaxy s6 edge, and I do not want to make a mistake and have to return it like I did when I got my first one... Last time, I used the verizon software on my comp to update the phone and it brought up to 5.1.1 which is a currently unrootable version of android as far as I know... so I returned it... Anyways...
My most major question is can I take the first OTA update and still be able to root?
The phone comes with OC3, which is rootable, and then the first OTA update is OE2 which is also rootable with ping pong root, correct? How do I know what version of android the OTA is going to install? Because I do not want to go to 5.1.1 like the verizon software did. I want to update to OE2. Also, is OE2 still the highest version of android for this phone that is rootable?
Next, how do I get xposed on this phone because the fragmentation of the software is quite confusing at this point... it isnt as easy and straight forward as my old GS4 running KK
Thank you to anyone that can help me with this!
r u sure its 5.0.2, i returned my galaxy s6 yesterday and got a new one, its still 5.1.1
Yes, it's brand new.. Not refurbished
Wait, it's already oe2! The one I bought 2 weeks ago had oc3 so I assumed this one shipped with that too. Thanks for asking! Lol
You should ODIN to OE2 and then root with Ping Pong. That will give you the latest version that is rootable, without going through the OTA updates.

I believe you will need to install a deodexed ROM after that to use Xposed on 5.0.2
Pretty sure you need 5.1.1 for xposed and its not available for Verizon anyways due to the locked bootloader. If I am wrong someone please correct me, as I would love to have xposed on this phone.

DOWNGRADE?

Is there any way i can downgrade from 6.0.1 to 5.0.1?
I'm using the latest update from SmartSwich The PH1
i want to root my device pls if someone knows
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but there is no way to downgrade from 6.0.1 to 5.0.1 and no root for this device on 6.0.1 at this time.
Do a search next time, it's been asked over and over
THERE IS NO WAY TO DOWNGRADE TO 5.0.1 ONCE YOU GO PASS THAT.
VERIZON ****ING DOES NOT GIVE A **** ABOUT YOU OWNING THAT PHONE.
So please file a fcc complaint.
So just to make sure I'm understanding things... If I find an S6 on eBay that's still on Lollipop, there's hope to root it?

T-mobile 930T Oreo Rootable?

I have an S7 with the build number R16NW.G930TUVSACSI1, and I'm trying to find any way to root the device. I know the bootloader is locked. I'm not worried about custom ROMs. I just want root. Is that possible, at this point? It looks like 7.0 on this device could be rooted with cf-auto-root, but I have 8.0, and I don't think you can downgrade? Anybody have a fix for me? Thanks in advance!

Check out this thread; it's how I rooted mine. The eng-boot.tar that you need is posted a few times near the end of the thread. The ones that come in the root.zip aren't for the A/10 bootloader. https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/how-to/root-s7-s7edge-oreo-nougat-t3819616.
