Just got my new Mate 9, works great. On my old Samsung phones, the icons apps like Gmail or Facebook used to display a number (within a red circle), suggesting the count of notifications. For example an (8) on the Facebook icon indicates I have 8 notifications in Facebook.
Does Huawei support anything similar ? I'm not even sure how this feature is called. I'm finding more useful to take a glance on these red little circles, rather than check the notification area.
Mine shows a red dot on the messaging apps with the number of unread messages within.

That works for me too. I can see the number of unread SMSs. This proves the Huawei user interface can do it. But it does not work for Facebook or Gmail.

Hello chaps
I've just got an HTC Legend and love pretty well everything about it ...except...
The SMS side of things is awful - you access it via the "Messages" widget, not sure if this is a native Android app or an HTC add-on but it's rubbish. All you get is a list of messages you've sent and received with no indication as to which is which and messages from the same person are bunched together into one on the list - it's just awful and there seems to be no way to change it so just an "inbox" view or whatever.
In addition, when you compose an SMSthe text entry box statys tiny and docks at the bottom so yuo get the recipient at the top and the message at the bottom with a big space in between unless the message is really long.
I'm amazed how bad it all is. Is there a good market replacement for it?
Cheers
K
Check out Handcent. Not only does it make the list more similar to an iPhone-esque style, but adds a bunch of extra features like colored trackball alert if you're rooted, or a Quick Reply function, where you can quickly send a message to anyone using your hardware buttons.
Is this some kind of joke!? April 1st has passed!

Handcent is the best IMHO....
There should be a messaging application you are using... not just the widget.
I would have to agree that Handcent is a pretty decetn app!
is it possible to disable the default sms proggy and let handcent be the only one?

Yeah, It should just be a matter of going into the stock Messaging app. On the main screen that shows all your threads, press menu, go to Options/Settings (whichever one is there, cba to look at my phone at the moment) then just disable notifications. That means it should never bother you again (unless you want it to - in which case just re-enable that)
I recently picked up a SW2, and have been really pleased with it. One thing I was hoping to do was to replace all the notification apps with one single one. I don't want 4 icons filling up the tiny screen when I can have one for Gmail, text messages, Facebook, Twitter, etc. I came across Watchnotifier, which seemed like a good solution, but Gmail notifications only show the header and sender... no body to the message. Is this normal for this app, and if so, is there an app out there that combines all the notifications but allows you to read the full message.
Also, is there a way to disable the stock "yellow dot" notification app? It's redundant and just adds more junk to the screen.
Thanks in advance for any helpful info.

i usually miss important notification because so many notification and it stack by another notification

You can use an app called "sms unread counter". It only applies to icons on your homescreen. It works for calls, sms, and emails. As far as I know there is no way to do it in the pull down bar just with icons on the screen.

If I'm not mistaken Android kind of does this on it's own. I know if I get an email in my status it shows the notification. Then in that notification it can say +5 more emails. Then I can drag down on that notification to see the other emails without fully opening them.
You could try the app floatify to see of that will help you.
Yeah, through the same app the notification should not create a new notification but instead increase the number on an already existing notification.

hi Lokke. thx for reply
unfortunately calls, and sms is what i barely use. in other hand, such email, bbm, twitter, chat group is what i mostly use, and sometimes in group chat or community chat (bbm, line, whatsapp, and else) new chat just for new information about whats going on if that case i just slide to close notification. but sometimes also new important information come, and i barely see it because it stack with another notification

hi lolcakes, thx for reply.
thats what i thought, and i'm pretty sure if notification only per app not per new notification, it will come in handy.
=============================================================================================
on the other case if there is really no app or way to do it, i think this will be bring new idea for developer to make such thing like this, is not like iam demanding, commanding, or asking for the developer to made it, but consider it as an opportunity to make small step for android, because for me it will be usefull, and i hope for the rest who own an android devices. i mean come on guy, is android, free to do whatever it suite you, the problem is i even dont know where to start. lol
cheers :good:
I am using the beta version of nova prime along with telsa unread as I miss having notification icons after moving from IPhone.
I have found however that the unread counts are either wrong or often very slow to clear after I have read the unread notification.
Any ideas how I get around this or can suggest another way I can get reliable unread notifications.
I don't understand why this unread notifications work perfectly with the likes of Samsung etc with their skins but we can't get it to work on a pure android device.
All help welcome please.
Have you tried contacting the dev? They are pretty responsive.
I don't know what to say except it might be a beta thing... is there any reason you are using beta over 5.0.1? I use 5.0.1 and haven't had a single issue with teslaunread badges.
I have the problem that the number in the badge is not correct
Contacted the Dev last night and they sent me a new apk to install. Still don't think it's reading correctly though and certainly not working with my selected Gmail inbox.
The refresh after you have read the item s slow also.

Do you have the option configured in the Nova Settings > Labs > Gmail Unread Count maybe?

Hey Guys,
I am yet to receive my HTC U11 but I just wanna check on a few things regarding notifications :
1) Do you get unread badge counters for emails, sms, missed calls, Whatsapp messages and Facebook? It is supposed to be like a red counter if I am not mistaken. Just want to know if apps like Facebook and Whatsapp get this too.
2) The Notification LED light is only RG instead of RGB yes? Would like to confirm on this.
Thanks in Advance Guys!

Hello,
my 2 cents: if you use Android Messages instead of HTC Messages, you do get a red badge counter for unread sms.
As for the notification LED, I think I've read somewhere thats it's RGB, but having received my U11 only yesterday late afternoon, I can't confirm...

Thanks man. I am more interested to know if Facebook or Whatsapp has unread message counters on the icons.
I get badge notifications for stock email, Twitter, and Next handcent SMS widget. None for Gmail, Facebook or instagram. Of course the last three is the App's fault, not the phone's fault.

That would be a first. HTC LEDs are always RG.

Confirmed RG only. Even the Red seems more Orange to me.
Has anyone found a way to display Badge count on the Facebook App?
Most of my other main Apps works fine. Only Facebook does not display any Badge Count.
Thanks!

Don't confuse the fact that HTC uses only two notification LED colors (green and amber) with the number of actual LED color components (RG or RGB).

Did you manage to find out how to turn on badge count for the facebook icon? Like yourself, only my facebook is playing up. Very annoying.
I can't say for sure that it will work with the Facebook app, but the current version of Nova Launcher replicates the notification badge functionality that Android "O" is going to have. So, if you're okay with switching to a different launcher, you might give Nova a try and see if it works there. (I'm running Nova on my U11, but I neither use Facebook, nor the notification badge feature, so I can't speak personally as to how well it works. Sorry).
There also the Tesla Unread companion app to Nova launcher

Thanks guys, I'll look into Nova (it's got some good reviews).
I just find it frustrating how existing functionality (coming from a Samsung Note 4) isn't supported by a new Android device. Petty but annoying.

What functionalities are you referring to?
I can't get Nova to display any unread notifications using any of the three options (dynamic, numeric or dots). Very frustrating. This works on the LG G6 but I suspect it's because it is only on 7 not 7.1. Has anyone gotten this to work with the U11?
Again, check out Tesla Unread app

I am using Tesla Unread. Doesn't work.
Hmmm . . . it's working for me. Maybe a permissions issue under Settings?
Hi all - I just got a HTC U11+ and having the same issue - no notification badges for Whatsapp or Facebook, Gmail etc. Why is this? It was there on my HTC 10. Does Nova Launcher mean you can't use the stock background and layout of the phone? Or is it possible to override Nova Laucher and use just Tesla Unread?

I got mine working with Nova and Tesla but wasnt using the standard background. To be honest, even though it "worked" the notification badges were rather sporadic and frustrated me.
So much that in the end I sold the phone and bought myself a Samsung Note 8. Guess what? Everything worked straight out of the box! HTC please take note (pardon the pun).
My recent experience will make me think twice before ever choosing another HTC product again.

Really?? That's so frustrating that they'd remove this feature - it worked fine on my HTC 10. Don't understand the thought process. I love everything else about the phone and personally am a big fan of the HTC/Google Android and less keen on Samsung. I feel dubious about using a third party app to completely replace the home screen, just for the notification feature (especially if it only works sporadically...)
