Change lockscreen default app shortcut - Honor 6X Questions & Answers

Hi guys.
Is it possible to change the default lockscreen app shortcuts? I mean: once in lockscreen, you can puul up fom the bottom a two lines series of shortcut.
I would like to change for example the default calculator with another app I have installed...and so on...
Thanks.

I don't think it's possible on stock EMUI... Maybe with the help of some Xposed module like GravityBox, but since that it won't works on EMUI i didn't saw any module that allows to do that.

thx mate. I did not find anything yet too... it's a pity.

Yeah dude I'd like to customize lockscreen shortcuts too, but Huawei locked that down. Surely possible on custom ROMs, but at the moment i prefer to remain on stock for various motives like camera quality, battery management and optimization, fingerprint gestures... (I'd like at least to try some ROMs like LineageOS, RROS, AOSP, ecc. but I saw kinda enough people forced to use dload to go back to stock, thing that obviously I'd like to avoid.)

It's absolutely not possible on EMUI

[Q][ViperXL] How to enable AOSP lockscreen Shorcuts?

I'm using ViperXL, I love that i can use the AOSP Lockscreen, but i miss some of the functionality the sense lockscreen gives me, is there some way to regain some of it? at least the shortcuts, I know that in the features list it says that i can do it, but i have tried several ways, like customizing the icons for the sense lockscreen an then disabling it, with no luck. Does anyone know how to do it? BTW I'm not posting this in the ViperXL thread because I don't have enough posts to ask in a developer forum, and i don't feel like spamming. Thanks.
I use WidgetLocker for this.

I don't like lockscreen apps for 2 reasons
1 they never work properly, every LS replacement i've tried appears after a glimpse of the homescreen and are kinda slower
2 they rarely look good and work at the same time

Making your S6 as "vanilla" android as possible....

Not getting my S6 until Monday, but two of the first things I plan on doing are installing the Google Now Launcher, and the Google Keyboard. As a long time Nexus user, hopefully this will get me as close to that vanilla android feel as possible.
So my question is...has anyone installed those apps? How is it running? Anything else you can do to make it as vanilla feeling as possible?
the problem with the google launcher is the samsung icons stay, you have to wait for a lollipop theme to be available on the gs6 theme store
I use nova launcher and a LP icon pack. i also set the animations in nova to be LP and the google now search as LP style

That was my other thought. Haven't used Nova Launcher in a while...but might be using now just for the lollipop icons. Looks like lollipop icons comes baked into nova launcher now, awesome.
How about Google Now? Would be awesome to get it via swipe to the left in nova...but doesn't look like that's possible. Any suggestions for that?

I actually use the stock LP icons in nova. Looks fine for me. I dont use google now because the lack of customization, the icons/drawer are too big.

Looks good. Any good ways to mess with the pulldown and quick settings? Seems like the notification shade and settings pages are the only thing that will be "touchwiz" at that point.

No way to mess with the look of them, thatd be related to rooting/roms/mods
I did remove any quick setting toggles so there would only be 5 that i use regularly

I can live with that. Does the built in themes affect the look though? Can set a different theme to mess with the shade, and then use Nova.

I'm waiting for other themes so i can find one I like. But I would imagine the system themes from samsung would affect the look of everything else, and then the launcher would be overtop and be the "visual" styling for stock android
One thing I'm missing is the priority setting for notifications. Stock android you could set volume profile to priority and get only calls/texts from starred/priority contacts. Then could also set an auto time interval

Hopefully the built-in themer will get a lot of support so we have a lot of choices.
Samsung has some built in do not disturb stuff though right? On my nexus 5 I use "Nights keeper" at night so I get phone calls, but everything else is silent. Can set whitelists and everything.
The google keyboard is a touch laggy at times on the GS6 for me, specifically when swipe/slide typing. So are third party launchers. It's very small though. Some won't notice it I bet

The themes do change the shade, and practically every other aspect of the look, except the icons as mentioned, if you're using other than stock launcher.
I am using the latest nova launcher.

I feel pretty confident that this will take off and be Hugh...Plus for the themers it probably will make their work easier since it will probably come with some sort of themer package. This is one of the best parts of the phone is the ability to make it look different!

[Q] Impact of Themes and Google Now

Hello everybody!
I'm interested in buying the Mate 8 but still have a few question I weren't able to find answers to.
I currently own a Nexus 5 and like the clean look of stock Android.
First questions are in regards to themes.
1. Do they still apply when you change the launcher or this somehow linked to the EMUI stock launcher?
2. Can you change the dropdown menu (notifications and quick settings) with these themes, too, in order to make it more like stock Android? Screenshots of the dropdown menu are rarely given.
3. How easy is it to create themes by oneself?
All in all I'd like to have a clean stock look as especially these bubbles around the icons are a pain to my eyes.
I would prefer to NOT have to flash a custom ROM.
The second part of my questions is in regard to Google Now.
1. Do you have the Google Now cards available?
2. Is Google Now on Tap working?
I hope you guys can enlighten me
Thanks in advance! :fingers-crossed:

1. Do they still apply when you change the launcher or this somehow linked to the EMUI stock launcher?
EMUI themes still apply when you change launchers. You can set your custom icons on the launcher desktop, but the themed icon will still appear in other places like the recent apps screen or in notifications. So you will still see ugly rounded square or circle boarder with your icons outside of your launcher desktop. Fortunately this can be solved by installing custom EMUI theme with stock icons, which you can find here: http://foerster.io/hack-huawei-enable-pure-icons-with-no-borders-backgrounds-etc/
2. Can you change the dropdown menu (notifications and quick settings) with these themes, too, in order to make it more like stock Android? Screenshots of the dropdown menu are rarely given.
Themes can change the dropdown menu to a certain extent, mostly changing the shortcut icons. I've yet to see any theme that can make the dropdown menu look completely stock, I don't think it's possible because they operate differently. To me the EMUI dropdown UI looked decent enough (albeit in a different style) so I don't mind it so much.
3. How easy is it to create themes by oneself?
Don't know, never tried it myself.
1. Do you have the Google Now cards available?
I have the international version of the phone (L29), most google services are pre-installed including google now cards. If you get the Chinese version you'll have to install google services yourself, which I heard is a fairly easy process.
2. Is Google Now on Tap working?
You can turn on the now on tap function in google cards settings, but it doesn't seem to work when I long press the home button.
Please note that I'm still on an early EMUI build (B103) and have not yet received any OTA, I don't know if later updates changes anything.
Overall I did get a fairly decent looking UI running on my mate 8. Some UI elements will remain in EMUI style (most notably recent apps and notification dropdown and settings screen) as you can't change those without a custom ROM or at least some root hack, but I don't mind those too much, in fact I liked some of the EMUI design. The worse part of EMUI 4.0 is the launcher and the forced icon background on 3rd party apps, but like I said earlier these can all be averted with 3rd party launcher and custom theme. If you're a diehard fans for the "stock-look" who won't accept any non-material design element then this may not be good enough for you, but it is good enough for me.
@beachletter
Thank you a million times, Sir!
So did I get this right and you also tried to achieve a more or less stock look?
If so, could you please provide screenshots of your dropdown menu and maybe of your homescreen?
Did you own a Nexus phone before the Mate 8, too?
Regarding the dropdown menu of notifications: if I understand it correctly it's more or less working like a timeline, not like on other phones. This can't be changed, can it? I guess I know the answer as themes are supposed to only change the look and not the way things work, but yeah...
This is what my ui looks like after getting custom launcher and material design icon theme.

I like stock icons and stock recent apps screen, but for notification and quick settings drop down I actually liked EMUI's implementation. I used CM and other near-stock rom in my previous phones.
See the post above for screenshots.
Alright, thanks again!
Now I have most of the information I can possibly get to make the right decision. Hopefully I will
Okay, so I've bought a Mate 8 to test things.
While it is really well designed, is nice to hold and snappy as well, I still can't get myself to like the software that much.
I have tried to apply the theme @beachletter provided but it somehow doesn't apply correctly and therefore many icons still have that bubble around it (e.g. Chrome, Play Store). Dialer and Contacts are still the same icons.
Regarding Google Now on Tap: this functionality was added with B152 firmware update which immediately showed up while setting up the device.
Additionally I have to say that the horizontal scrolling in the recent apps menu is even more unintuitive than I've thought it would be.

That's strange, on my phone the dialer and contacts have separate icons (although I usually don't use contacts because I can quick dial any name in dialer to search my contact list) , and I don't see any icon background/border for chrome or play store.
Maybe you should check out the newest version of the theme here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/rooting-roms/hack-enable-pure-icons-borders-t3315731
and FYI the launcher I use is NOVA Prime
Good to know google now is back in B152. Unfortunately my phone doesn't get any OTA update above B103 yet. But at least there's no camera focusing issue on my phone, even with B103.

It's not that bad anymore. I installed Nova Prime as well and added icon packs to fit my preferences.
But with the new theme it's working, even in the status bar! Thanks for providing the link!

Actually I just switched to this theme which seems to have a more comprehensive set of material design icons:

Xposed Modules for EMUI 5.0/5.1

Hello, so I flashed Xposed Framework on my Honor 8, its working fine, few modules I tested out work flawlessly, but I'm curious if you guys know some good and useful modules that work.
So far I've tried:
- Amplify
- Greenify
- Flat Style Bar Indicators (even though it has some problems)
- Disable Full Screen Keyboard
- YT AdAway
- YT Background Playback
- Gravitybox (I only tested a few functions and they seem to work)
Thanks in advance! :fingers-crossed:
Almost all of them lol. Modules released for nougat have been out for quite a bit already.

Oh, that is nice to hear. Actually I'm looking for something to stockify EMUI, gravitybox says that it could cause bootloops on heavily skinned androids like touchwiz, miui etc., so I'm a bit scared of testing it out, so if you know a module which could change the qs menu for example, I'm well aware of the Material Notification Shade app, but it doesn't support fingerprint gestures which I use a lot, and it's a bummer, so if you know anything that could help, I'd appreciate it a lot

Gravitybox works from what I remember. I didn't have too many things enabled but I never experienced a bootloop the entire time I used it. What exactly are you looking to do to the was menu?

I want to make it as stock as possible, I don't hate emui's way, but I prefer the whole stock pulldown menu, idk if you can even do that with gravitybox, but I'm looking for something that can, if there is no such stuff, it's fine, I can live without it.

Custom Rom or load previous Android? Need old style recent apps menu BACK.

I really and truly need the old style vertical recent apps menu back. Please. Is there anything I can do? I have the phone rooted but can't find any custom roms.. I really need the old style vertical recents menu back.
Moto G7 Power
Thank you-
Unfortunately it seems like that is just the style for the recents menu on Android Pie. No custom roms since development for this phone is, for some reason, completely dead. I for one, hate it too, but nothing can be done at this point unless some developer takes an interest. Maybe it could be you?

One way to get the old recent style menu is to delete the Moto action 3 launcher in /system/priv-app.
Of course have a launcher installed like Nova first.
Providing that you have Magisk, you can use Quickswitch module in order to change the recent apps provider. By choosing System Ui as default provider you get the old vertical look back.
Head over to Quickswitch module thread on xda for more info.

Development ain't dead. It's just that without a custom recovery we can't exactly flash custom roms so as of now its just stock roms. But the fact that we can flash stock roms of any variant is a step in a good direction. :good:
Make a third party launcher your default, and then use this guide to uninstall the stock launcher https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
