I pretty much love this phone. It would be my ideal device if it had double-tap-to-wake. As it is, I could almost learn to live with using the fingerprint scanner (which I avoid using on all of my other phones) to unlock, but I finally encountered a deal breaker.
I have had all kinds of bluetooth issues. I have a lot of connected devices and I've been encountering the following:
Gear S3 constantly disconnects (even when it's really close to the phone)
Fitbit will not sync
Car Stereo Bluetooth profile deleted itself
AirPods break up, have static, or completely cut out
Here's the thing. I went back to my V20 and I don't have any of these issues. The Fitbit always syncs, the AirPods work flawlessly, the Gear S3 NEVER disconnects, and my car stereo has never disconnected. I have to believe it's a bluetooth stack issue. Perhaps the proprietary processor is to blame. But with all of the bluetooth devices I use on a daily basis, I can't live with this.
I really want to keep the phone, but I think I'm going to have to return it. That sucks because there's nothing else really like it on the market for me. But after all of the testing I've done, I can't draw any other conclusion. Maybe a software update might fix it in the future, but I can't take that chance.
I'm sure some of you will chime in and say "I'm not having any of these issues". That's great. I'm fairly certain you don't have the exact same devices/combination I've listed here. The fact is, my currently daily setup does not mesh with this phone. I still have my Mate 8, but I haven't tested this combination of devices with it yet.
I also have a big issue with this phone's Bluetooth. I can't pair it with a 2014 Pajero. Any other phone works perfect when paired with the car but this one cannot even pair. I always get "pairing failed".
I tried every oprtion and pairing application and still no success.
I know mate 9 has bluetooth 4.2 but it should be backward compatible.
Anyone has a solution or similar issue?
I wonder what firmware version your mate is on.
I'm running MHA-L29C432B138 and I have no problems with my Gear S3, nor with my Mazda bluetooth hookup.
Yeap, latest B138 version.
Gear S3 is fine. Only issue is the car connection
B138 here.
Won't connect to my 451 Bosch Highline car radio (they can't even see each other).
Connects fine to my laptops (Win & MacOS), BT speakers and Xiaomi Roidmi.

I have the U.S. unlocked model. So, unless there's something specific about the firmware on that model, I don't know what to tell you. I have tested this repeatedly with all of my Bluetooth devices. Nothing works as it should, especially compared to my other phones. It would be interesting to see if I have the same issues on the Europe firmware, but I'm not flashing it to find out.
This bluetooth seems to be issue with this phone, does anyone know if this is something huewei is working on to fix or its an android issue ?
I hate to be the guy that says "mine works blah blah blah" but I've got multiple devices connected through Bluetooth and have yet to have an issue on any of them. 2 Ford vehicles running Android auto, 3 Bluetooth speakers and a set of Bluetooth headphones.
With that said, I wonder if your actual device is faulty. Has anyone with the issues done a factory reset? If so I'd be contacting Huawei support.

I have same issue as describe. My tought is mate 9 do not accept Bluetooth multipoint connection... 2 devices with same profil cannot be connected in same time
Envoyé de mon MHA-L29 en utilisant Tapatalk
I am wondering if the manufacturer is aware of the issue or not but to me it seems more of a Android nogut issue than anything else
I have the same issue. The Mate 9 takes about 3 minutes to pair with my car where my LGV10 automatically did it within seconds. It also does not seem capable of handling being paired with multiple Bluetooth devices at the same time. It has to be disconnected from one and wait to pair with the next one. For cars, I have tried it with both a Tesla and a Jeep GC and the I have the same problem.

It's interesting and frustrating how different people have different experiences.
As you'll see from my sig area, I am on US version, with 183 firmware. Interesting too, I had first tried a V20, and left it because of BT issues. As you are probably expecting to hear given my intro statement, I am not having BT issues. But, I am on different phone and firmware from most posts here.
I've only had my phone a couple weeks. When I received it it was on 138, and the GPS didn't work at all. Was about to box it back up and send back, but then checked, and had the update. After update, it's been great for me so far.
I'm not sure how different the 138 is from my US phone and yours...but a common thread for problems seems to be (based on this thread) is 138.
Hello,
Has anyone else been having issues with Android Auto on the T-MOBILE OnePlus 7 Pro? It won't work with my Hyundai Elantra 2017 or my brother's Honda. It charges fine, but the dashboard won't recognize it. I've tried the cable that came with the phone and same issue. Haven't had any issue like this before with the other phones I've owned. including at 6t.
Thanks
I have an aftermarket android auto head unit and have had no issues connecting, playing music, or using maps.
No issue here with my durango ....AA connects and works awesome
No issues with 2019 honda crv.
No issues with 2018 Kia Forte.
No issues with 2018 SKODA Rapid.
No issues with my vespa scooter
I have no issues connecting to my Passat but when using Waze thought Android Auto for navigation I lose GPS signal when receiving a call. Could anyone possibly test this for me?
I have issues randomly with 2018 Colorado. I have the unlocked version. Sometimes it will not be recognized and give me an Android Auto error that says there are no apps on the device. The other times it works perfectly. I have also had two reboots and occasional GPS errors where the location is off just a bit (puts me on off ramps on the highway for example).
I have the same issue on Hyundai i30 2018. It charges, but it's not recognised and doesn't open Android Auto.

Same here. My 2018 Colorado will sometimes recognize it and sometimes it will just randomly drop the connection altogether.

I had this happen with my OnePlus 6. My OP6 android auto used to work until one day it didn't. I tried various cables but none worked. The device would charge but the car wouldn't recognize it.. I tried a lg g5 and it worked no problem.
Once I got the OnePlus 7 pro the Android auto has been working flawlessly.
Did your OP7Pro Android auto work before but just stopped working?
Mine not working as well on Mercedes benz cla250 it charges but didn't launch AA app on my car. Tried diff cabels
I have a 2019 Nissan Maxima SR and it works great.

No issues with Masi Levante
No issues with 2018 Audi A4 nor 2017 Volvo XC90
Mazda 6 working well
I have a 2017 Hyundai Sonata, no issues here.
Waze on Audi Q5
I drive an Audi Q5 2018 and using AA, I got my new OnePlus 7 pro and suddenly Waze shows up in terrible resolution , I see only a small fraction of the map and unable to zoom in or out to fix it and having normal Waze behavior. Google maps works perfect with no problem.
I’ve been trying the same with Range Rover Discovery and it works with no problem. Any ideas ?
No issues with my Explorer 2011 Sync 3
Anyone having an issue with Android Auto on the OP7P?
When i connect mine to the car the only volume that displays on the radio screen is "prompt level" and i cannot control the volume levels of the radio or phonecall. I have to disconnect and reconnect the phone several times before it works.
This was never an issue with my OP6. I reinstalled the apk just to be sure, but same problem.
Just wondering if someone has same issue or knows of a fix?
Thanks
Your doing better than me. I can't get Android Auto to work at all with my headunit.
Really annoying as it works fine with my Pixel 2XL.
Android Auto working perfectly on my wife's 2019 Audi A6.
What Android software are you guys on? I haven't tried 9.5.8 but 9.5.7 worked.
Beside of Dual Sim Selection everything works as expected.

Android auto sucks with OnePlus (I had 6 and now 7 pro) on Renault. Screen is always pixelated and not responsive.
I too have had issues with Android auto. I have a GMC canyon 2018 and notice that sometimes when I plug the phone in, it does not automatically show up. I have to manually force it to show. I also have had it turn off completely.
Working fine on my 2018 Kia forte.
Fine here on my honda crv 2018 and my wifes Kia
I tried 4 different USB c cables. And my OnePlus 7 pro works perfectly with 1 of them and not at all with the other 3 (including the OnePlus Red one).
Can see any difference between the cables apart from length...the one that works is only 50cm long.
Works just fine for me here on a 2017 Seat Leon, 2018 Seat Ibiza and 2019 Nissan Micra.
Note: I realized that enabling ADB debugging causes issues with Android Auto.
Also, check your permissions for the Android Auto app.
every time I have had issues with AA it has been a cable problem, lets not get into the fact that Google decided to route some audio through USB and some over BT...that was STUPID. I dislike apple but the "function" of carplay makes AA look like a bugger
Skoda Superb OP7PRO
Hello
I can not connect OP7 pro with Columbus system in Skoda Superb, I was using red cable which was delivered together with phone. Anyone have an idea how to fix it?
Check the firmware version on your AA unit. Updating it can help solve alot of issues i found.
For anyone still following this thread; I tried for days to get my Android auto working on my OP7 pro. I even rooted the phone and installed LineageOS, tried various cables that I owned. The car was fine as it worked flawlessly with my Pixel 2.
It eventually came out as being a cable issue. Even the red cable provided by OnePlus didn't work. I bought EasyAcc short usb to usb C cables and it now works, though I also have the usb default as File Sharing, unknown sources on, and resolution up to 1080p (Android auto developer options).
I've since put the phone back to stock OxygenOS and it still works.
I hope it helps someone else who's stick, as I had almost given up hope!

Hmmm I just bought a 2019 Nissan Maxima SR 3 weeks ago and I just plugged in my OP 7 Pro with the red cable that came with my dash car charger (Dash not Warp) I bought with my OP 5 when OP5 launched and AA works flawlessly. It downloaded AA on my phone automatically paired and works. To my surprise, it works with all my 3rd party apps as well. Textra, Bluemail, Whatsapp and Player Pro Music player, Google Assistant as well as Google Maps and Waze ofc.
No idea why people have issues and others don't. AA installed in the cars are the same version correct?
I should add that I'm on Stock OOS 9.5.11 Rooted with TWRP and EX Kernel installed.
Android Auto works perfectly with my 2019 Chevy Traverse and my wife's 2019 Chevy Equinox. It hasn't mattered what cable I have used either.

Hello. So I've recently switched from a Oneplus 7 to 7 Pro and I have a problem with airpods volume. Whenever I connect them to the phone, even if I put the volume at max it still sounds like half the volume from the Oneplus 5. I've tried enabling/disabling absolute volume, reconnecting them and forgetting them, changing audio codecs, wiping all data, wiping data of bluetooth, but without no success. Nothing really worked. Anybody in this situation/knows some solution?

Have you been running Android 10 on your 7 pro since you got it? When your Airpods are connected try going into bluetooth settings, click on the Airpods to go into the headphones settings, then toggle 'Media Volume' off then back on. I was having bluetooth issues with my car and I randomly tried this one day and everything was all good again so hopefully you haven't tried it and it works for you.

Yep, I am currently using Android 10 and this issue was also on 9 (Pie). I have tried the media volume also several times but without no success (forgot to mention). Also another thing to mention, my phone is not rooted but I can accept some volume boosters or settings in root folder if that actually works.

Hmm I was really hoping that would work. In that case I'm not too sure. Have you ruled out a defective pair of headphones? I ask because I have a pair of Powerbeats Pros and those are pretty similar and also Apple made and I don't have these issues. Other than that, I believe Viper4Android is a rooted extension that might help you.

They are not defective because I use them a lot on other devices and also on Apple ones and everything is fine. I will try the Viper thing + root asap (or as soon as a tutorial for rooting android 10 arrives) and give you and the forum feedback. Thank you for your suggestion!
Having the exact same issue. Weird because it was fine just a while ago. No idea why it decided to decrease max volume all of a sudden.
I am also facing the same exact issue and it is crazy frustrating.
Mines seems to work fine 50 % of the time. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Sanme problem here in a mi mix 3
I dont get any sound at all, completely mute! But I know they are communicating on some level because I can pause/skip tracks using double tap while in spotify! Makes no sense
I can confirm that I faced this issue on oneplus 6 , pissed me off, sold the Airpods 2, sold the op6 .. got myself oneplus 7 pro, bought airpods 2 and issue appeared again ... which is RIDICULOUS and making me think oneplus might be doing this on purpose because it worked very well on Android 9 for OP 7PRO until I upgraded today to Android 10 and here I am the same issue.
any solution maybe in the horizon ?
I have Airpods Gen 2 as well but don't seem to have any issue.
I am rooted, and running rooted stock OOS 10.0.3 with arter97 kernel, with a few Magisk modules, but no DSPs or anything that affects volume/bluetooth. I also use Android Auto with either cable or bluetooth often.
Has anyone tried troubleshooting this using Developer Options?
I would trying disabling absolute volume and see if that has any affect on it...
Also see if changing the Bluetooth Audio settings in Developer Options has any affect on it... I can see how perhaps a few of those settings might affect or fix this.

I spoke to oneplus they advised resetting network and disabling absolute volume in developer options. the problem seemed to vanish.
Please guys try and report back.
now I got full volume of the airpods
one more thing, please format your phone and it will work fine
Seems like a pretty extreme way to resolve it... Don't you think? ?
Hi, did anyone ever get a permanent answer for this??? I've been having the same issue and have tried literally every step. Even when i format my phone sometimes it will work and other times it wont. even when it does work its a temporary solution and the volume will eventually go low again at some point - this is when i format my phone all over again losing all my apps and settings which is very frustrating!!
Hello,
Anyone managed to make AA work on their S22 Ultra?
I know it's a known topic, but seems that no debeloper (Samsung or Google) cares to make it fix...
Before answering, please note that i have already tried to clear AA cache and data, to disable/enable the app, tried different apk versions, tried different cable, and no luck at all!
My A21S, Oneplus 6t and Onplus 8 worked fine, so is not an issue from the cars (Skoda Kamiq or Skoda Ovtavia IV).
Any ideas? It's frustrating that such an expensive phone doesn't have Android Auto working...
Thanks!
I have tried everything (I believe) to make it work but still, AA is not working. I gave up and I will wait for another software update.

Dang. I always had a problem with WAA on my s21 ultra. Was kind of hoping they had fixed it.
Forgot to mention an important detail: EU variant (with Exynos, not 8gen1)...
Also tried both, wired and wireless, and is not working.
AA icon appears in notification panel for 1 sec, then it crashes... While on head unit, it's loading the connection, then sais it is failed
Strange, for me it works but it takes ages (like a minute or two) to load the homescreen each time. Afterwards it works normally. The sound works right on. Wireless AA, Exynos, EU
works great here out of the box with Nissan Sentra. Wired...
cheers
Clear the cache and data from the android auto app, then remove your phone completely from your car. Try adding it again. That worked for me. However, I'm on the SD variant, and using AAwireless. As for that, I had to put it on passthrough at first, then AA pushed an update and it worked without.

Mine works (2021 RAV4 XSE Hybrid), but I have to say every voice command twice. The first time I say it, there's a 15-20 second pause, and I get "Oops, something went wrong with the network connection, please try again later". I repeat it right afterwards and it works fine. It's a pain in the damned ass.
Same thing is happening with the S22 and the S22 Ultra. Lots of people complaining on Google's forums about S22 issues.
It seems to be a common issue, my Pioneer DMH-Z5350BT goes to the black screen when I connect my SD S22 Ultra.
Hopefully, there will be a fix soon!

Agree on the timing, but I never really cared since I always wait for everything on the car to fully load before I drive.
Only thing that's gone wrong was two days ago. I didn't have my cord, so I was on Bluetooth. For the first time ever, it said device was not available when I would switch to Bluetooth in the car. They were both connected - and still connected. I cleared cache and data, unpaired both ends, rebooted phone restarted car, re-paired, but nothing. Was the only time that has ever occured to me.
