What's up guys, for those of us lucky enough to be using the G1 already, put of a list of what bugs that need to be fixed and improvements that need to be made. Since anyone can develop 'droid, the more nags are brought up, the more likely they'll be fixed.
I've noticed the following.

2) USB connection - not sure if this is a windows error or android error, but I get an "I/O device error" when connecting. Using an 8gb sd card.

>>> Since RC29: no more I/O error, but now getting "No Disk Found." Android does indicate it has a USB connection though.
3) No indication of sms received if screen off and phone on silent. The status light will blink green for a notification, but with charger connected there's no telling aside from vibrate
I edited this original post a bit since the RC29 update - if there's one thing I can thank that update most of all its the speedup on the camera time. I have kids and you can't get them to hold still for nothin! After the update I was able to snap pics with them swinging at the park even and they came out fine.
bt and wifi
Hey, im not positive but im pretty sure you can make a shortcut to things like settings on your home screen, so then it would only be maybe two taps away? idk, i gotta wait two more days to be sure =/
shortcut only available to settings not directly to comm manager AFAIK, which only takes it to 3 taps.
When you choose to reply to a message from a notification it does not go in the subject feild but instead to the sent feild. (I want to type right away its a habit and when I do its in the contacts...
Hey,
For accessing the SD Card make sure you go to settings - Storage and SD Storage Settings, and enable USB Mass Storage Mode. If you go to Android Market - there is a program called AnyCut 0.6, you can make a wifi toggle button and bt toggle button on the home screen.

Which Android Market is that? I looked through all the apps today and didn't see anything like that.
The marketplace should be back to normal tomorrow for the release. They've been updating all the apps and the marketplace itself for the release day.
good point, B. I hadn't thought of that.
The only other app I need is for Google Docs to have the ability to edit. I didn't realize until I started trying to input numbers into a spreadsheet (my workout stats, gym geek, I know) that I realized that's read-only.
By the way, what's the point of a read-only spreadsheet? That's like having a fridge that opens up and just has pictures of food in it.
for some reason the music app won't play my mp3s?! any ideas?
I've noticed twice now that my phone just stops recognizing my SD card. I have to take it out then put it back it for the phone to pick it up.

Happened to me as well.
2GB SanDisk microSD
Please add this bug to the list. microSD card is unmounted randomly and must be reinstalled to remount.
1. When the phone is off and connected to via USB cable it didn't seem to charge. At least the charging LED didn't come off if the phone was off. But then again it might be charging and just might be a bug in the led.
2. Cannot save images sent via MMS sent from other G1 users. This needs to be fixed.
Battery life is disappointing
I am sure it is because of the newness, had to charge the phone 3 times yesterday. This morning had it off the charger for less than and hour and phone was down to 70% charge. I just disabled autosync and gps, lowerred the brightness. Wil see how that affects things.

Lost in call audio
For some reason lost all audio incoming and out going on a call, it showed i was in call but i could not hear anything and the caller could not hear me. I did not change any settings, was on a call like 10-15 minutes prior to this with no issue.
I was able to clear the issue when i soft reset the phone.

It's in the same category "Activity"
There should be a "Bluetooth Settings" to choose, I have both on my screen now. Maybe in an update we'll be able to edit the icon from Any Cut.

Open Any Cut and select activity. The scroll down to WIRELESS CONTROLS. Select that and it will make a short cut for you. When you press the icon it should open the wireless controls, there you have access to wifi and bluetooth.
So, as the title says, I have the N1 resting in the dock and charging. I want to use Google Talk so I tap the home button and open Google Talk. Between the tap on the home icon and anywhere after the Nexus One will automatically return to the clock app. I can tap home again and randomly it will again return to the clock.
Is there a way to a) disable the clock (I'll miss it, but it's almost frustrating enough to never use it again) or b) disable return to the clock app? I don't see any settings to accomplish this so it's probably some power user trick. I don't think this is occurring because the N1 is losing contact with the dock while I'm tapping as it's resting pretty solid in the dock.
Any ideas?
I guess you could put a small piece of tape over the middle pin and that should prevent it from going into the Clock app but still allow it to charge.
try dock nothingness from the market, it will let you select it and when its docked it wont open anything.

Excellent recommendation. I tried a couple of the Droid dock app and they were buggy. This app is consistent. Thanks.

I don't think the app will stop working because it is not a hack, it's using documented and officials Sticky BroadcastReceivers for detecting the dock, opening "Dock Nothingness" instead, however, the "Dock Nothingness" app is nothing, so it closes it self right away giving the user the illusion of the phone not really opening anything
When I read the thread topic, I was like "yeah, its damn frustrating!".
velazcod: Thanks for the app to fix this nuisance.
I look forward to the next version that does even more nothing!
Updated, make sure to go into the app's preferences -> Phone and select "Nexus One / CM5" if you are on CM5.0.3+

Oh, you need the "LEDs Hack" app, you can find it in the market.
Just received my desktop dock and the clock application was driving me mad within 10 minutes of making and receiving calls etc.
Dock nothingness is great - thanks for the suggestion....................
One of the things I find irritating about the dock is when I'm playing music through the bluetooth connection it initializes automatically and I take the phone off to send a text or whatnot it unpairs its self. Can I force it to stay paired until I turn off bluetooth?

Yes, connect and pair before docking it
I do that now, but I have to dig through the wireless menu. Is there a widget or something that will connect to a predefined device with one touch?

For some reason the dock won't allow to auto-connect when in range, it does this for other devices, like headsets....
I have bought the original HTC Carkit to use as an active charger and holder for the Sensation.
But every time I put it in there, the navigation starts up. This is annoying, I do not want to use is, but I cannot find any way to remove this option. Even HTC didn't have a clue ... so maybe here is someone?
I am sure it is triggered by a special USB plug or so, since some people have the same when they use a wrong hdmi/usb cable (navigation starts).
But, how to stop the auto start of Navigation? (Locations)?
I'm sorry I don't have an answer for your question, but I do have a request. Would you please do a review for the carkit & let us know in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133956
please & thanks
Also, I don't think that it's the usb cable. If it's using the car charger CC200, I have the charger on its own & it doesn't start up navigation for me. I think it has to do with the actual dock & magnets or something like that

Richard: Hi Chovav, thank you for contacting HTC Support, I’m looking in to your query now.
Chovav Mordechai: thank you!
Richard: Open the Car Panel application, press MENU - Settings - and you should have the option to disable the autolaunch of the application.
Chovav Mordechai: I dont have a car panel application
Chovav Mordechai: ...
Chovav Mordechai: only dock mode (that doesnt have anything to do with car panel)
Chovav Mordechai: and locations
Richard: It may be called something else on a Dutch handset. It has a picture of a map with a green arrow over it.
Chovav Mordechai: its in english
Chovav Mordechai: nope, no picture of map and green icon on it
Richard: Are you sure you don't have it? It is preinstalled on all HTC phones now.
Chovav Mordechai: i got calculator, calendar, call history, camcorder, camera, clock, connected media, CoPilot live, dice, dock mode....
Chovav Mordechai: nothing else with C...
Richard: OK. Do you have anything called Dock Mode?
Chovav Mordechai: yes
Chovav Mordechai: ...which does not start when the phone is docked in the car holder...
Chovav Mordechai: but would when it is not. in settings over there you can choose not to launch automatically but thats not what is launched when you connect the phone to the car charger
Richard: If you go into Dock Mode press Settings you should have the option to switch off the autolaunch.
Chovav Mordechai: that only autolaunches in a dock, not in the car charger /holder
Chovav Mordechai: HTC Locations starts automatically with the car holder
Chovav Mordechai: ...you understand my problem?
Richard: Yes, I understand. I have just check one of the phones here and there is no way of switching that behaviour off as Locations is set as the default navigation app.
Chovav Mordechai: and how do I change the default navigation app?
Chovav Mordechai:
Richard: You can't as there are no options to change it.
Chovav Mordechai: so there is no way of stopping HTC Locations from loading and telling me I have to buy stuff each time I dock my phone into car mode?
Richard: I am afraid not. I will pass this information onto the developers for you.
Chovav Mordechai: could you please make a request ?
Chovav Mordechai: ahh that would be perfect
Chovav Mordechai: how do I hear about it? through email?\
Richard: Yes, if I get a response on the issue I will email you.
Chovav Mordechai: thanks you! have a nice day further..
Richard: Thank you for contacting us, I hope you have a great day
.... So there is no way, if there is any change I will let you know.
If memory serves me right, HTC do the same as Garmin and fit a 5 pin micro USB to the actual car holder.
The pins are 123X4 where 1 is +5v 4 Gnd and casing metal, 2 and 3 are the data pins and X is is connected to pin 4 via a 27K resistor.
Unable to pull mine apart at the mo but this is how it is done on the Garmin and the HD2 cradle.
Hope it helps.
John
This wouldn't be such a big problem if HTC-supplied the nav app for free. I tried it for a month but it's not worth the money compared to Google's nav. Since we paid a sizable amount of money for this HTC accessory I think's it's unlawful to force buyers to subscribe to this mediocre app on top of that. The auto nav feature MUST be made optional.

Thank you for contacting HTC regarding your HTC Sensation. I understand that when you activate your HTC Dock the Locations Application starts up, but you would not like this to be the default application. I regret to inform you that there is no way to customize the default application when connected to a Dock. I apologise for this inconvenience. Thank you for contacting HTC. If the problem persists, and you know that more applications downloaded from Android Market would like to ask you to use the phone in the office of "Safe Mode" to grasp if one of these applications have led some software problem. So please do the following:
1. Remove the battery from the phone, hold it for about 5 seconds and then reinsert it into the phone.
2. Please press the "Power" to activate your phone.
3. After you see the HTC logo on the screen and hear sound Quietly brilliant, press and hold the "Volume down" to the operating system will be activated / will become functional.
4. Search on the left - corner of the screen the words "Safe Mode" to make sure you activate this option.
If you don't see this text on the screen means you have to start again until you succeed.
Once activated this option, please check if you have the same problem.
If the problem persists not mean it was caused by one of the applications installed on the phone from the Android Market and must try to uninstall. If the problem persists please contact us again.

Sir, on the last update that you have made your application and some phone settings to "car mode" have been reintegrated in the application "Location". Therefore automatic activation application "Location" is automatically activated "by default". In other words no longer have any control to enable or disable this application. As a last resort to have control over this application is to make a "downgrade" the OS on the phone and thus will solve the problem.
As a final notice, the downgrade can be done only repair center whose data I gave you in previous email.

Then I gave up...
Hi there,
As you might have read on the PX5 board threads, I was struggling with the ease of use of the stock FM Radio app when driving. If you don't have to SWC you first have to press home from navigating, and open the radio app, or use the widgets, to switch channels. I didn't like that like, so I started to inspect the radio and radio widget .apk files. In there I found some pieces of code that remotely allow to control the FM Radio app.
What my app does is 'listen' to the information the stock FM Radio app is outputting. It can get the current frequency and channel. It shows this information on a notification on your HU. This notification also consists of three buttons to go to the previous channel, the next channel, and turn of the radio.
The current frequency and channel are also pushed to the Android Media Session with media button support. This means other apps (like AnyAutoAudio) or widgets can display the currently playing frequency and channel. You can also control the radio with the media buttons Android support. USB keyboards or BT devices that support these buttons should work! I haven't tested it, but this also means the FM Radio can be used in Android Auto. As soon as you open another media app (like Poweramp), that app will take over the media buttons (as expected). If you want to switch back to FM just press the power button on the notification and you're back.
This app is at an early stage right now. I'd like to see it as a proof of concept. It currently only works with FM. It can't show AM information yet. I am not an Android developer, so it might contain a few bugs and glitches. Let me know if you find anything.
I made a little video a few days ago when I had my first proof of concept working. This video does not display the media button support. Watch it here: https://youtu.be/JNUAi0KNGmM
Let me know what you think! Ideas and suggestions are always welcome.
Download: https://gerbenbol.com/android/com.gerbenbol.hctradiocontroller.apk
So I gave this ago, it seems like it's nearly there for Android Auto. AnyAndroidAuto does pick it up and displays what station is on but AndroidAutos next/pause/previous buttons do not effect it. Also if I change radio station the widget in AndroidAuto does not update to reflect this. Any idea why this is?
That's too bad.
Does the info in the notification change when you switch channel? The media session which feeds info widgets etc. seem to be a bit flaky right now.
Do you have any other media widgets that show the current playing media?
edit: @Dec64, gave it a try this morning. My widgets didn't make it control, or had the latest station displayed, but the native Android media buttons worked fine. Very strange... Do you happen to know what commands AnyAndroidAuto send? It should work for the next/previous/pause buttons. I'll see if I can make some changes today.

Yeah the info in the notification changed, and worked perfectly just didn't feed that information down to AA. I had no other media widgets at that time.
No unfortunately I don't know what commands are sent. What is weirder still is this morning on my way to work, after about 20mins the HU turned off the radio and changed menus in AA to the music menu and said nothing is playing...Yet i touched nothing. I put the radio back on and after 5mins it turned back off and I was sent to the phone menu. The only thing new running was your widget, very odd, I dont know how that is even possible.

Weird! I've rewritten a load of code, and it should be more stable now. I'm testing on an Android Emulator and and simulate some information the FM Radio would send, so I hope it's better now!
You can download the .apk again from the same URL in the first post. Let me know how it works on the HU. I'm gonna test it when I get home tonight.

I use the intent "hct.radio.power.switch" to turn the radio on or off. This is different from the intent Dec64 posted. Mine only turns off the radio, it doesn't shut down the radio app. So use what fits the most.

I like AA on my HU because it displays the info i need quickly and at all times, but the major draw backs where the radio not showing, and the phone menu not working properly.

I've been looking into that, but I believe the radio app doesn't 'share' that information. But I'll have another look.
But first gotta look into the AA issue.
What I did notice on my own HU, as soon as the Radio app starts, the sound goes on, and directly off again at boot. Did any of you notice that?
Just received this unit and I am very impressed! It is much more powerful than the PX5 unit (2G/16G) that it replaced, although this was a great unit for the time.
It comes with the option to factory unlock the bootloader. My question is, has anyone successfully rooted and installed TWRP on this unit?
No TWRP (at my knowledge) but Magisk Yes

I will take your word for it. I ask because it is what I know and am familiar with. Haven't really tried anything else.
All I need is my stock firmware to patch for Magisk. I asked my seller nicely and looked on firmware.mobi with no success. If anyone has the stock T7 firmware, could you share a link please? Thank you!
So I took my first road trip with this unit. I "stumbled" my way into root. My seller sent me an upgrade firmware and I replaced my 6315_1.zip file from the firmware with a 6315_1.zip from someone's post who had a EKIY T900 and it worked. Although Magisk did not "turn green" making me initially think I failed to root the device, root apps ask for superuser access and work perfectly. I don't know how important it is for Magisk to "turn green" or why it isn't, but as long as I have root, I accomplished my goal. Also, 4G works great with the prepaid T Mobile SIM.
A couple bugs I've noticed are:
1. My button backlights aren't working. They turn on at boot and then turn off once the desktop comes up and nothing I do will turn them on. I asked my seller who offered up a couple solutions like "turn on your headlights" as if I'm driving around without lights at night. There were some menu options they wanted me to change but nothing fixed the button lights.
2. I cannot get notifications. When I pull down the notification bar there are no notifications although there are icons showing as if notifications are present. All I get is the buttons for wifi, data, and so on. When I swipe down again I get screen brightness, but still no notifications.
Overall, after the first road trip, I am extremely impressed. I am streaming DirecTV app and Waze in split screen for 6 straight hours and it did not skip, freeze, or crash a single time. It isn't completely installed into the dash so I can easily pull it out and the backside felt slightly warm but not too hot after I parked at the hotel. The couple little bugs don't bother me enough to lessen my excitement. This thing rocks!

1. Same for me on a Joying 9853i, which is also a FYT. I like to have the back buttons on all the time as it can be helpful as well on really sunny days. My "back buttons" are actually the small embedded ones in the panel. So I cut/disconnected the ILLUM wire and connected it to the ACC Contact wire, so that when I switch on contact, my back-buttons are always on.
2. The systemui implementation by FYT is, to put it friendly, quite peculiar. So indeed, some things don't work and it will not change by using another launcher as the underlying systemui will stay the same,
I did exactly as you did with my ILLUM wire and it works exactly how I wanted it to! Thank you for the help!
I just want to be able to use the unit for maps or another while on an active phone call.
