As by now everyone knows that the Kdz file for AT&T lg v10 has left some devices useless as the security option, vpn and uninstalling application is causing android error.
I am not currently living in US so FOTA upgrade is impossible. My question is that if i somehow manage to send my phone to US at At&t outlet will they fix the software problem??
and will I be able to use the fingerprint security, vpn and other functions that are currently unavailable?
BTW my phone is not rooted.

I am in Australia and have just recently bought an HTC M8 on eBay which was originally listed as new, and factory unlocked for $530. A few days later I found out it was actually rooted now unlocked, but was originally locked to Sprint. This was confirmed by a Sprint Connections application update etc, and the root was confirmed by the SuperSU app that was already installed in the phone. I'm recently confirmed this by the Root Checker app.
My phone's software is Android version 4.4.2, HTC Sense 6, software number 1.54.651.8, HTC SDK api LEVEL 6.17, PRI version 1.52_003, Kernel version [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT, Baseband version 1.05.20.0321_2.
The phone is pretty functional for everyday use except for the following issues:
- The internet network settings had to be manually obtained from my carrier as the phone did not automatically pick it up.
- The internet seems slower than usual (Signal strength -79 dBm 17-20 asu) compared to my old phone (Xperia Z1), despite the settings being specifically on 3G/UTMS mode which is faster than having it on Global Mode, and the required setting with my carrier Optus.
- I cannot access anything under System Updates. i.e. Update profile, Update PRL, UCICC Unlock and most importantly, HTC software update. This update takes >20minutes to search to no avail. This error message at times pops up when I try selecting Update profile: “vDM Client has stopped unexpectedly. An error report will be sent to HTC to help us improve our products”. This error screen would pop up intermittently when my internet didn't work but, I rarely see it now.
- Wifi would randomly switch on. I've turned off all system selections that may be caused on this. I haven’t tried booting my phone into safe mode to determine if an app is causing this.
I don't know much about phones (I had no idea what rooting was until I looked it up to get a rough idea), so I'm wondering if you experts could be some advice
I'm planning on keeping the phone for about 2 years and wondering what issues I may receive from having a rooted phone with the already above issues? Would the phone play up more? Can I use my current android version for that period relatively smoothly?
I am able to return my phone for a full refund but I don't have a spare phone and don't want to go in to the hassle of doing so if I can keep the phone (I would prefer to leave them negative feedback on eBay to be honest ). What do you guys think?
Thanks in advance for any asisstance.

Just reflash the stock rom and relock the bootloader and everything should be fine.
Hello. Recently I was trying to use Wi-Fi direct to transmit data to my Lg g2. I manually paired the devices from Settings menu then I selected a file-share-wifidirect and.... nothing! It showed me an empty screen with a Search For Devices button and in a few seconds responded with a message popup "Data transmission via Wi-Direct must be performed with another huawei device at the moment". WTF? Why? Is Wi-fi direct something huawei specific? I do not think so. The odd thing is that LG also allows to pair devices but does not give you a possibility to send data via Wi-Fi Direct forcing you to use SmartShare Beam which is LG-only technology. Why manufacturers are so stupid, they state their product has some technolohy but it's actually unusable! I do not wan't 2 huawei devices and I do not want 2 LG devices! On the other hand my old samsung s3 hanles it in a proper way, I was able to send files from it to both aforementioned devices using Wi-Fi Direct.
I know I can install SuperBeam to deal with my problem but it's inconvenient to install it on every device you want to transmit data to. So I just wanted to know if anyone else had this problem. Also my ROM is a bit old, something like b121(I have MT7-L10 version) so I wonder maybe they have already fixed it in some newer ROM especially the lates ones with Lolipop. If so I will try to install that rom. Thank you.
Does anyone know an updated link to download a custom recovery or even unroot my VS980 Verizon LG G2 ( Current Version 26A KitKat and need to update to 39A Lollipop) ... Yes, I am rooted and have been for the past year or more and no problems until the microphone stopped working randomly on all phone calls or google voice search a few weeks ago unless on speaker or bluetooth ... I myself and the verizon technician i spoke with believe it is a software issue being the actual mic works on speakerphone still in phone calls verses a faulty component in the device itself ... i am replacing the component regardless in a few days which includes charging port, mic, and 1/8 acc port ... I am just simply trying to either push the update without losing data or unroot without losing data just so I can OTA update to see if it is a software issue even though I am still replacing the components.... ALL of my data is backed up to verizon cloud but the reason i DONT want to lose data is because of an MP3 download app or APK for the app is NOT available anymore, ANYWHERE and is fully functional on my phone with all 6 search engines .... I am a trance/techno DJ for a label in Europe here in United States and this application has no availabilty that I can find on desktop and has been removed from android market a while ago .... yet it still functions perfectly on my G2 ... I realize I am having multiple issues here and If there is some information or similar experiences that anyone has had and can share a solution then I will be very appreciative and will pay tip for services if it works ...
Sincerely,

Hi and thank you for using XDA Assist
I saw you already made two threads for your two problems so you will just need to wait till someone will answer you.

Hello there,
First an introduction: I have a Sonim XP5700 phone which has proprietary Android on it (no Play store, etc.)
The phone is from AT&T network but it's unlocked. Unfortunately the OS is so proprietary it's all containing AT&T software and updates, and I can't get the firmware from my network provider (Bell) through the update process. I also wanted the Bell PTT app, but AT&T's PTT app is impossible to uninstall or reassign the PTT button function.
I went ahead and rooted the phone with Kingo ROOT and enabled USB debugging mode so I can use ADB to push install the Bell PTT app from apkpure. The App only partially works on the phone because the navigation keys do not work. I can attach a bluetooth mouse and get more function out of it but this is not feasible in the real world. The PTT works and I can receive incoming calls but I can't make them because the PTT button is assigned to AT&T's PTT app.
TL;DR or IN SHORT, I was hoping someone can help me with the following:
I have Sonim XP5700 phones from Bell, is there a way I can obtain that ROM or firmware from the phone so I can install it on the AT&T model? I have spoken to AT&T/Bell/Sonim support, and no one can give me any ROM or flashing tool and there seems to be little option for custom ROM's on this model phone. Things like TWRP are not really usable because there is no touch screen on the phone and most of the real estate of the software is off screen and I can't see it.
I also happen to have an XP5800 unlocked from Sprint network. I am able to root it and install the latest version of Bell's PTT app using adb install and easily bind it to the PTT button through the settings menu. Seems like the biggest issue with XP5700 is the out of date OS and the smaller screen won't let me see most apps (of the ones that install) properly. I'm still searching for a way to reflash the XP5700 with one of the ROMs from my other XP5700 in production.
Hello XDA Forum!
After my Magisk rooted Motorola Moto G41 phone got updated to Android 12 it no longer shows the VPN menu under Internet settings and the VPN client can't create a VPN profile/connection either and immediately fails.
Looks like this is something that is a thing with Motorolas lineup of phones and that has been fixed with an update(?) in certain models but apparently not the G41.
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/moto-g60s/vpn-menù-on-android-12-moto-g60s/m-p/5183211
Running System Update in the settings menu shows "Everything looks good! You are using the latest software."
Android Version 12, Software version S3RWS32.138-29-3-3
Security Correction 1 february 2023
... all is not GOOD.
They mention in threads using ADB and USB debugging alongside two apps called "Shizuku" and "App Ops" in tandem to be able to "give VPN permission" to the VPN client app. Saying they use this as a workaround for the time being but NO further instruction on what to do. Doing the wrong thing with these applications could quite easily brick or mess up the phone quite badly ....
Either if someone here knows how to do THAT *or* if there is something that can be done to get the VPN menu BACK in another way any help or information is appreciated.
Waiting to hear back from Motorola support about a possible fix.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
