Need help..Soft bricked.. Bootloop..unable to unlock - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
My OnePlus one suddenly goes into bootloop.
I was on stock COS. I was not enabled USB debuggung so adb not recognizing device. Phone was never unlocked as well.
I'm able to go into cynogen recovery but when I tried to clear cache or factory reset, I'm getting unable to erase partition error.
I'm able to go into fastboot but unable to unlock, as soon as I gave fastboot oem unlock command, device reboots into recovery. I'm unable to flash anything as device is locked.
I tried to sideload cynogen factory firmware but it results in same error of unable to erase partition. Fastboot erase system also giving same error.
I found somewhere that the following command will work in TWRP. But I don't have TWRP recovery and I'm unable to flash it because device is locked.
Unable to use adb shell command as well because adb not detecting my device because I was not enabled USB debuggung.
make_ext4fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p15
Can anyone help me, my device is dead from 2 weeks with this.

It'll work for soft bricked devices as well.Since you're not able to unlock bootloader, fastboot is pretty much useless atm.

Pcb=logic board=motherboard
Unless it was taken from another phone sold off as parts, you can't buy the logic board on its own. The same applies for most smartphones out there.
In short, sell parts of your one,and buy a new device.

[Q] Moto G stuck on "Warning Bootloader unlocked" screen

After rootting my moto G around a month ago, the KitKat update has came out, I tried to update on my phone and there was an error, then I tried updating it from the PC, again another error. Then when I would turn my phone on it would turn off after around 1 minute after turning on, So I found a thread to install the update manually, then I had errors flashing partitions as said in the steps on this other website. I uplugged the phone as I kept getting errors, now when I try to turn it on it just gets stuck on "WARNING BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED" screen. Even when I hold down the power button to turn it off, it just turns the screen black, vibrates, turns back on with the warning screen. I cannot enter fastboot with holding down power and the volume key. I am stuck here any tips or anyone know what is going on/ causing the error?
Did u got the phone completlely off? If not - try it and try to Boot in fastboot then.

Its the vodafone UK moto G, yes I have the drivers installed.
fastboot oem fb_mode_clear
Try fastboot oem fb_mode_clear
i have same problem
I am also having same problem. did anyone found solution for this?
There can be many reasons for this: broken ROM, incorrect kernel etc. Unless you know specifically the last thing you changed; you are better off doing a factory reset and installing a new ROM in Recovery or flashing a firmware image via fastboot.
I am having this exact same issue. the phone is stuck on the unlocked bootloader screen. It is still responsive, I can get into the fastboot and even clockwork recovery mod but nothing i do will escapt the bootloop. I even tried a factory reset in Fastboot and Clockwork and the RSD lite method but it didnt work.
Go to the 'Restore Stock Firmware' thread and re-flash your firmware again. I've had bootloops before.

I did, I tried that method but when I get to step 3B I cannot get mboot or whatever to work. First it throws an error and asks for an obscure Adb.dll that i hunted down and put in its folder but then i click it to open and it flashes up for a second then closes. Excuse me while I go cry in a corner for a bit. :crying:

NEED URGENT HELP
I accidentally wiped the internal storage of my Moto G XT1033 (dual sim variant), since the OS is lost now my phone is stuck at bootloader warning. I can access TWRP recovery. In device manager I can see Google Nexus ADB Interface. And in taskbar (safely remove hardware and eject media) phone is recognized as Eject XT1032. But in file explorer/My computer I can't see the phone. My phone drivers are installed.
I've tried adb shell command and I am getting this error:
C:\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>adb shell
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
error: device not found
and with adb devices command following error:
C:\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>adb devices
List of devices attached
(this line/area is blank)
C:\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>
Now how can I fix ADB or this problem? Please help

If you have access to TWRP, then are you able to go into the Advanced menu and use the ADB Sideload feature to flash over a ROM from your PC? I had a problem while working with my phone the other day during its initial unlocking and flashing where I'd broken the system install but still had access to TWRP, and by swiping and enabling ADB Sideload, I was able to flash in a new ROM with my phone connected to my computer by running: adb sideload /path/to/rom.zip
Alternatively, you may be able to use the stock firmware restoration procedure detailed elsewhere in this forum to restore your stock firmware via fastboot.
Pardon me if I haven't fully grasped your issue. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the help. I tried ADB Sideload feature in twrp as well the adb sideload /path/to/rom.zip this command/feature was not working from the pc.
Anyways, I tried USB OTG method, copied CM nightly into my flash-drive then attached flash-drive + OTG cable with phone, at first OTG was not working don't know why it could not mount, I restarted phone, went into recovery and then I could installed rom from flashdrive. Finally my phone is working now
I am totally new to android and this rom rooting stuff. Moto G is my first android smartphone coming directly from iPhone 5 so I was scared like hell
If anyone failed with ADB Sideload method please try USB OTG method and your phone will work again. Hope this help others

You first have to select the usb storage in TWRP because TWRP detected internal storage. U can even mount usb otg from TWRP options. after selecting usb then u can see the files in ur usb drive.
I'm stuck on the same Warning screen, it is not a bootloop since the phone just seems to freeze but after a minute I get the windows sound as if you conected something via USB, but the warning screen stays, I've let it for hours and I've flashed stock roms. Even when you flash a no warning boot logo.bin the screen shows again even when mfastboot shows as succesful flash. Out of ideas now, please help

Solution for MotoG locked in bootloader,
I think you must have tried to install another kernel version or so. If you have installed cyanogen try resinsallting the lasted update by going into custom recovery and flashing the latest update in the cmupdater file. Worked for me ! Lets hope that it works for you too. All the best !

[Q] Nexus 5 Soft-Bricked ! Please Help :( (Locked Bootloader, Stock Recovery)

Hello Guys,
I'm now in deep deep trouble as my Nexus 5 has got soft bricked and now stuck in a bootloop. Yesterday evening i unrooted my device, flashed everything to stock and locked the bootloader back because i was getting a really awful battery life upon rooting. Hence thought of reverting to stock. So flashed the stock image of 4.4.2 and setup my phone just like it came from a factory. Only thing i did this time was disable some Google Apps i.e Play News, Games & Magazines, Movies etc. Till midnight it was working too good with only a marginal battery drain on idle i.e 1% in 2 hrs or so.
Today morning when i woke up, i just entered the PIN code and unlocked the homescreen and then it just got stuck. I restarted my device and since then, its just stuck in a bootloop and whenever the phone tries to restart the OS, its gives numerous errors all related to Play sErvices and something like android.process.acore and Media.
I tried to factory reset by going through the stock recovery but even in that it gives the errors " Failed to mount /cache" and "Failed to mount /cache/recovery" with invalid arguments in the brackets.
Now i can't even flash stock as the Bootloader is in Locked State. I'm able to flash unlock Bootloader but when it asks to restart "fastboot reboot", it again gets stuck on the Google Play services error resulting again in locked state. That leaves me with a LOCKED BOOTLOADER, STOCK RECOVERY & NO USB DEBUGGING ENABLED.
What can i do now to get my device working people ? Feel like :crying: since its happened. Moreover, i can't RMA it as I'm now in a different country from where the phone wasn't purchased.

The tool specifically asks for Unlocked Bootloader and like i've already mentioned, its in a lock state. To unlock that, i need to have USB debugging enabled which i can't enable as i'm not able to even see the lockscreen, just stuck in a bootloop. :crying: I'm able to launch the Fastboot Mode and also partially unlock the bootloader but as soon as i type the command "fastboot reboot", the device again goes into bootloop starting the cycle again
Any more suggestions guys or should i assume my Nexus to be a paperweight ?

Go to the stock recovery and format cache.. Do it a couple of times till the /cache errors go away and then go to the bootloader and flash the stock factory images again. After flashing the stock images, don't boot it up, head over to the stock recovery and perform a factory reset and then reboot!

You can use command in fastboot "fastboot oem unlock" to unlock then reboot in fastboot again, and try this instruction (since you unlocked you should be able to do this).

What? USB Debugging doesn't have to be enabled. Bootloader unlocking is done from fastboot via 'fastboot oem unlock'.

unlock bootloader: fastboot oem unlock DONT restart
download twrp recovery
boot twrp recovery: fastboot boot path_to_twrp_recovery.img
wait until it boots up, if the phone restarts try again.
in wipe settings select format data type yes then ok, if it winished slide the bar to factory reset.
and in cmd terminal type: adb shell then cat /proc/partitions and post the a screenshot about that.

Successfully unlocked bootloader finally and installed TWRP. Booted in TWRP and performed Data Wipe and it failed. Again unable to mount /cache /persist /data etc commands showed. Then it tried formatting using make_ext4fs function but it failed. Swiped for a factory reset and it failed.
Used your ADB command afterwards and it displayed first daemon started successfully on port 5037 and then error in cmd : device not found.
What next ?
EDIT : Just noticed on the TWRP screen that my internal storage space is being shown as Zero (0) MB Now does this means my flash storage has died ? If that's the case and i need to RMA it, how to relock the bootloader , reset tamper flag and load stock recovery so that google doesn't cause any warranty issues. Please help me in that case as well.
EDIT 2 : Using fastboot, tried flash stock cache.img and userdata.img, it failed. When i flash system.img it went through perfectly. Also, got to know that the steps which you mentioned earlier, TWRP was booted temporarily and bootloader was unlocked temporarily. So does this means i don't need to relock or flash back something ? And, if i've unlocked and relocked the bootloader numerous times, how do i reset tamper flag ?

You could try one more thing. Format the /presist partition, For some reason it magically fixed other's devices, like for this guy and for an other in that same thread, but if you format it you will lose your wifi and bluetooth mac address, and some kind of DRM stuff. I made a tutorial how to fix wifi and bluetoot mac address problem after the formating, but I cant tell anything about the drm kind of files, because I still didnt get answers form the guys in that thread. That could mean they are experiencing no problems. Here is the zip which formats persist partition.

I tried all sort of things before finally giving up. Ultimately sent the device for RMA. Thanks for your inputs as well
@bitdomo, i have realised it was a case of dead memory chip only. I managed to relock the bootloader and reset the tamper flag (oem device info showed Tamper as "false") but now my only cause of concern is the LG Flash Tool. When i flashed the KOT9H firmware, it changed the original device version as mine came with 4.4 OOTB instead of 4.4.2. Can Google refuse the RMA citing this now ? Rest all, the kernel, recovery, bootloader, tamper flag is all stock. I coudn't even change that back to the original device version as i couldn't transfer any zip to the internal storage as it was dead.

Google can't get your actual device factory version, because it is only visible with lg flashtool, and that tool is an internal lg software. Google has nothing to with that tool.
By the way this lgfalsh tool makes your phone offical, because this is the offical tool used in LG service centres!!!!
Can you imagine a guy at google who takes your phone flashes a custom recovery, reads back the misc partition and search for the factory device version in the hex code. Then he checks your phone serial number and sees 310K then denies your rma request because your device factory version cant be that because in oktober 2013 there were no 4.4.2? I think no.
But if it bothers you then, you can flash krt16m, or if your nexus 5 had to do big update ~150 mb ota update then flash kfs78n if your device is D821 or flash kqs81m if your device is D820. Converted roms work too without problems I have tested them.

I have already sent the defective one for RMA so there's no question of flashing any files now. Google sends the new replacement device and and lieu of that they block temporarily the device's price for a period of 14-21 days in which the service centre ppl check for the issues what got the device in. And i think LG only is handling that as it made the device ? So my question still remains now can the LG guys intimate Google that the phone was flashed. ? But on the positive, the flash tool was of LG and it can't be turned unofficial What say ? I don't wish to pay again for a new device. If the service centre guys gives a thumbs up that phone indeed died as a result of hardware failure like emmc chip, then the card block is removed.
BTW, i am not aware whether Google itself handles the service or asks LG to do the same! Any inputs ?

[Q] Stuck in bootloop but don't have USB Debugging enabled

So I'm in the precarious bootloop nightmare... and I'm pretty noobish at Android on the "developer" side, I'll say. I also didn't have USB Debugging enabled when my phone randomly decided to freak out on me.
I tried the fix found here:
Edit: I can't post links yet. The fix is found at Android Police. Story is titled: Here's An Easy Fix For A OnePlus One Sudden Death Bug That Results In Neverending Boot Loops.
I got to the point where I had to input the "adb shell" command then crashed and burned. My computer never recognized the device on the "adb devices" command... and I'm assuming it's because I don't have USB Debugging enabled. There might be another reason why, but I couldn't tell you. The "fastboot devices" command gave me a valid response when I was in fastboot mode.
I'm kinda all over the place, sorry. Just not really sure what to do from here. Can a noob solve this relatively easy with USB Debugging not enabled (if that's the case)? I've submitted an RMA already, but I have a feeling it's going to take OPO forever to get back to me.
TIA!

Yes, it does.
What I would do if I was stuck in a bootloop (well thats what I did when I soft bricked my phone "NO OS INSTALLED" now it works again )
is go here https://cyngn.com/products/oneplusone/ download the cm-11.0-XNPH38R-bacon-signed-fastboot.zip extract it in your fastboot folder (make sure you have the latest sdk tools from google or else with an older version it will say that system.img is too large when you flash the zip), open a cmd (run as administrator). check if your bootloader is still unlocked (mine got locked so I was facing a similar situation) type fastboot oem device-info ....it should say unlock true.... then
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash sbl1 sbl1.mbn
fastboot flash dbi sdi.mbn
fastboot flash aboot emmc_appsboot.mbn
fastboot flash rpm rpm.mbn
fastboot flash tz tz.mbn
fastboot flash LOGO logo.bin
fastboot update -w cm-11.0-XNPH33R-bacon-signed-fastboot.zip

haha while typing i guess i mixed up flashing and fastboot hence flashboot. Also he can unlock the bootloader now cant he? what happens if he flashes TWRP without unchecking "Update recovery with system updates" (after bootloader unlock)? because after i got into the reboot problem i flashed the factory image, by now my bootloader was already unlocked but i was not able to uncheck the "Update recovery with system updates" or enable the usb debugging. still i flashed TWRP via fastboot and i was good to go.

He could try unlocking the bootloader, but my guess is that it will fail with his phone in the current state. Failing to uncheck the 'update cm recovery' option in Developer Options shouldn't pose a problem until an update is taken.

Hey there,
My OPO is stuck in bootloop and believe me, i just took it out of the box (though it was 4 months without charge).
I cannot put it in to fast boot and I tried power cycling too by discharging it for 12 hours & charging for 6+1 hour. Its just the same.
Can you help?

Can't boot into recovery. any idea if this can be fixed?

I tried to root my Opo, but it started to go wrong after i flashed it. It went to reboot into TWRP, but all that happened was it crashed. the 1+ logo comes on and then the screen goes blank. This Happens all the time when I try a "fastboot oem unlock", factory reset, or a boot recovery.. the fastboot does work, but the device is also locked and i can't do a recovery due to this. I tried to do the root tutorial on youtube by C4ETech.. help please!
@nickizm, when you boot to fastboot and enter the command "fastboot devices", can you see your device listed on the screen?
Thanks for the reply.. The fastboot work fines apart from when I try to unlock the devices and it reboots into recovery, it crashes and doesn't unlock.. the rest of the phone works fine apart from the recovery... my bootloader is also locked and I can't unlock it due to crashing
(bootloader) Device tampered: true
(bootloader) Device unlocked: false
(bootloader) Charger screem enabled: false
I can't be certain but I'm pretty sure I read a similar issue to this a few days ago that was caused by not having the latest fastboot software, the user resolved it by downloading the latest android sdk and trying again.
Worth a shot.
Hope it helps.

I had trouble when I first tried to root. Twrp wouldn't install. I ran some command which loaded it up but didn't install it on the phone, I was the able to root my phone.
Make sure you have latest oneplus one drivers. Have you tried using oneplus one toolkit to install recovery?
Sent from my Oneplus One using XDA Free mobile app.
I've tried to install a recovery, but my device is locked. If i do a "fastboot oem unlock" is just crashes on me when it going into recovery. I also get the same crash when I do a factory data reset or if I reboot into recovery. I think it's definitely something to do with the recovery, but since my device is locked i'm not sure what to do?... cheers again

Did you try with the latest android sdk?
Powered by Bacon
I'm sure I did.. It wasn't that old.. I can try again, but the problem is I won't be able to unlock my phone??
is this the right link? http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/index.html?pkg=studio
New drivers, exactly the same
Have you tried using a toolkit to do the unlock for you? People usually advise against using toolkits to do it for you as it prevents you gaining the experience of doing it yourself, but since it's not working when doing it yourself I don't see any harm in trying a toolkit.
You can find several options at the bottom of @timmaaa's resources roll-up thread here

My problem is that the recovery is damaged in some way and my device is locked. i can't "fastboot oem unlock" as it just crashes when it goes to reboot.. is there a way to unlock my device with another method or can the recovery be repaired some how? i'm such noob

I think you might be out of luck, unless someone here more knowledgeable than I can help.
If you have a recovery image (not zip) you can try running the following command (make sure the img file is in the same directory as your adb/fastboot files and rename it "recovery");
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
What this allows you to do is boot into the TWRP recovery without having it installed on your phone, but I think I read somewhere that this command no longer works.
EDIT: If the above command will let you boot into TWRP, you'll want to read the guide here and flash the script.

One last effort, after a bit of reading I've seen a few people with your issue have resolved it by flashing ColorOS (Chinese Stock ROM) and then going back to a custom rom once everything is fixed.
You can find a guide on how to do this here

can you give a little detail about
"device is also locked and i can't do a recovery due to this"
you did fastboot oem unlock. so saved data is wiped. but you should be able to boot into android system,
if so, enable "developer options" by clicking "settings" --> "about phone" --> "Build Number" click it 7 times,
then go into settings developer options and enable USB debugging.
then, use not fastboot, but adb to boot into recovery.
adb reboot recovery

there you can got into recovery.

That doesn't work as my device crashes when it goes into recovery..
eg: "fastboot oem unlock", factory reset, or a boot recovery all crash as my recovery isn't working. When my device goes to reboot in recovery the 1+ logo comes up, fades out to like a blueish from the white 1+ logo and crashes.. so basically it's looked and I can't get into recovery.. thanks for trying

LG GPAD 7 stuck on Fast Boot

Purchased an Lg Gpad 7 Wifi tablet (v400) 2 weeks ago. Came with preinstalled Lollipop android so i couldnt install a recovery rom to flash any other custom roms. Downgraded to Kitkat version following the instructions on Xda forums and succesfully installed Twrp. When i installed Cyanogenmod 12.1 through Twrp i got stuck in fastboot screen.
Any suggestions and / or solutions would be greatly appreciated.
I had a similar problem.. Only mine was stuck at the bootloader. Go in TWRP and repair /data and other partitions. My data partition gave me an error since F2FS is a little flaky and some ROMs corrupted it (claimed they supported it). I would recommend erasing the system, cache and data partition if you can't get into TWRP.
The problem is i cant get out of fastboot whatever i try. It says start on bootloader but the tablet just restarts on an empty screen doing nothing.

if you have an sd card, try removing that, then reboot.
if that doesnt work, try entering fastboot command, fastboot continue
Tried without sdcard and i get the same fastboot screen.
How can i give any commands? The only options i have are Restart Bootloader / Restart / Power off. Tried restarting bootloader but i get nothing in return tablet just stays on with nothing on screen.

you said it was stuck on fastboot, if thats the case, install any needed drivers on your pc, connect device to it, open a terminal in the fastboot dir (after you go get fastboot), then try those commands i gave. you could also try, fastboot reboot dont think i mentioned that before.

hmm, ok, im guessing it would have said that normally, when not broken. all the command does is try to release it past where its stuck. it doesnt actually flash, lock, unlock, or change anything.
imo, this seems good, because now we know fastboot is working.
i own lg devices, but not your specific device. i would hate to give you some bad advice and make your tablet broken more, but if it were me in this situation, i would try to flash the factory KK firmware you used to downgrade with odin or however you did it. hopefully, that will clean everything up and let it boot properly.
if for whatever reason you cant do that, we could try extracting the factory file, and just flashing recovery and system, those should be the only things that got changed putting on twrp and cm normally.
Sorry, I have the serious proplem wtih my LG pad V400, I rooted it and using <LG Flash Tool 2014> with <V40010c_00.kdz> to downgrate the firmware but their is error then my LG pad stuck in fastboot menu as with just turn off, restart and restart bootloader. if i seclect one one them the tablet just logged again the fastboot menu
it stuck on the fastboot menu and i cannot do nay think with it. I can restart with factory restore mode but when select yes to restore, it will restart and log in fastboot menu again.
I downloaded adb and fastboot program and put in one folder <Minimal ADB and Fastboot> in C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
I dont have recovery image so i download file <cm-13.0-20160421-NIGHTLY-v400-recovery.img> form your link to download TWRP file
move it to folder of fastboot programe and changed its name to <recovery.img>
I turn on the tablet and it waited at fastboot menu
when i run the command <fasboot flash recovery recovery.img> and they said some thing wrong like in picture
please help me
