Best Samsung Tab A SM-P580 Case - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Accessories

Picked up the SM-P580 for my 6 year old this past week.. Curious to see what case everyone likes or is using with theirs -- I picked up a relatively cheap ProCase off of Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Gala...id=1511708748&sr=8-7&keywords=sm-p580+procase and it is just ok --- Since this Tablet has been around for quite awhile was hoping to get some thoughts on what you guys liked.. Thanks..

Cases are a hit or miss with the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 with S Pen (P580) and without S Pen (T580). There are a limit amount of accessories for these models.
You probably want a Mignova Heavy Duty Hybrid Protective Case with Build In Kickstand, since you're letting your kid use your tablet: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y15M2VP/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It will help you reduce the damage if he or she drops it. Don't rely on the included screen protector because its garbage. There are identical ones with different brand name, but they are all the same. All made in China. Some are cheaper while others are more expensive so make sure you pick the cheapest price and it's designed for the one with the S pen.
Also, the model without the S Pen (T580) is a smaller tablet. They aren't the same size as the model with the S Pen (P580).
Infiland Galaxy Tab A 10.1 with S Pen Case, Smart PU Leather 360 Degrees Rotating Stand Case Cover for Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 with S pen P580:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M65L2XX/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This one is okay, but the 360 degree rotating stand is flimsy. It only stays in place if you just watch a video on your tablet. If you plan to use it while its in vertical or horizontal mode, it often falls down.
ProCase Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 Case without S Pen
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FVLUDAO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
If I had this case for the one with a S Pen, the screen flaps are annoying and cover a small portion of the screen in all directions. For a tablet without the S Pen, it's manageable. Good build quality. Thicker case than Infiland leather case. You got to take the tablet out to access your mSD card.
Samsung Book Cover for Tab A 10.1” with S Pen, Black or White
https://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/m...tab-a-10-1--with-s-pen--black-ef-bp580pbeguj/
Right now, it's 50% off for $25 but normally for $50. If you missed the sale, you can get cheaper ones on Ebay as used or open-box.
Out of all the cases I have including the Pro Case for the T580, the Samsung Book Cover is the best one for the Tab A 10.1” with S Pen (P580). The only con aside from drop protection is that you can't use it in vertical mode because the magnets only hold the tablet in two horizontal angles. Easy to take off and put the book cover on. Easy access to your micro-SD card slot. No raised screen case hinge to interfere with my hand when I'm writing on it. The magnets are strong and hold in place with I use it.
I was thinking of getting a keyboard case, but I discovered there's no official Samsung Keyboard case. There are 3rd party Chinese manufacturer keyboard cases, but they are a hit-or-miss too with build quality and user experience.

Thanks for all the info Baja --good stuff..

I just got this one for my SM-T580 and it fits great.
It's not cheap, but it's worth a bit of extra cash.
I did take the screen protector out because I don't like them, but otherwise it's a great case.

I like Supcase but I do not believe they make one for the SM-P580 with S Pen..

So it appears there are official keyboard and dock/charger options...but is it possible to use say a third party keyboard with the Touchpad? If so will any bluetooth keyboard work? Are there any other docks that work other then the HP one?

a question for people who have had them for some time, is a case or screen protector necessary? Does the screen scratch easily, or will I be fine without one? I never like to use cases, my evo and xoom were fine without one, but i keep hearing that the build quality of the touchpad is not that great so thinking about getting something to protect it.

jonhern,
I would say a case is necessary just to make your tablet more portable. I would hate to put it in my backpack and mess up the screen because you don't have a case around it. I don't think the screen protector is necessary, but if you don't want a case it might come in handy. Just remember, you'll have a 10 inch piece of glass floating around that would be very easy to scratch.
Also, this isn't really a cheap case but it is very high quality:

Yeah, when i took my xoom anywhere i would just stick it into my leather folder legal pad. nothing ever happened to it. just worried about the build quality of the touch pad and if it would be more prone to scratches, on the shiny plastic body and glass. the xoom was metal and glass, so felt more sturdy.

On the hunt for a TPU case for the TouchPad, or any iPad 1 TPU cases that have been confirmed fit the TouchPad. Thanks.

You need to be careful with the third party cases. Yes they may be cheap and look night, but they can hamper the tablets functionality.
I purchased the offical HP case off of amazon.
Why? Because it does not cover the bezel.
There is a swipe up function in webos that is suppose to be pretty neat, but typically (depending on your orentation) you swipe up from the bezel at the bottom to activate this feature. The feature actually only uses a pixel wide sensory area at the bottom of the screen...but people at precentral report difficulty activating this feature when the bezel is covered.
Hence why the touchpad case from hp does not cover the bezel.

Also anywhere to get another charger with the proper 5.3v 2amp at a reasonable price? You can't use just any USB charger because if it puts out only 5v it will take about 3 days to charge.

I would be interested in hearing what make/model you ordered, and how well it fits the tablet. I'm looking for something to keep the fingerprints away .
Anyone ordering an iPad cover for use with the TouchPad needs to be sure to order a cover designed for the original iPad, not the iPad 2. The original iPad dimensions are extremely close to those of the TouchPad, but the iPad 2 is much thinner. The TouchPad will not fit in most cases designed for the iPad 2.

Hisense Sero 7 Pro [Case]

I have really enjoyed my new S7 but realized I needed a case. Instead of adding this to the existing S7 dev threads for new roms (thanks xbobxexpert and RemmyLee!) I thought it would be good if everyone can post any cases they have tried.
I have discovered that the best fit case (right now) is an ipad mini case. Yeah, I actually bought an "i" something.
This is for the "Belkin Chambray Tab Cover Case with Stand for the Apple iPad mini Dark Gray"
It has elastic straps on the corners which allows it to stretch. Also, the ipad mini is a 1/4" wider, thus there is a gap on the case, however, the S7 doesn't slide around, leaving plenty of space for a stylus.
The strap does cover the front camera and the power button. I just push the strap to use the power button, and remove the strap to use the front camera.
The case does cover the back camera.
I'm using a leather Nexus 7 case. Its perfect. The only thing it blocks is the HDMI port. Ill get some pics later

This is the one I'll likely get.
I just have to decide which color.
My Nexus 7 has a black case so maybe get the Magenta.
More apt to let my SO have, it seeing how I bought it for her.
Does that case add to much bulk?
I see several screen protectors have already come to market. I just purchased the XtremeGuard protector for $9.99 (after adding in the site-wide 40% off coupon.) I'll definitely post back with my experience but from what I read, installation will be a *****.
So now I'm looking for cases. I'd like rubber bumper-style cases that fit snug around the back to protect it from mild abuse. Nobody seems to make one at this point. I hate leather cases because they are bulky, harder to grip, and their quality is usually lacking. I'm thinking of purchasing a case designed for a similar shaped tablet and modifying it as needed. So far the closest sized tablet is the Kindle HD 7". The Sero 7 Pro has dimensions of 7.87" x 4.95" x .43" (or in metric: 199.9mm x 125.7mm x 10.9mm.) The Barnes & Noble Nook HD has dimensions of 7.65" x 5" x .43". What do you guys think? I may need to cut some holes for a charging port, camera, microphone, etc but the protection which the case would offer would still be uncompromised.

hello, can you tell me which Nexus 7 case you bought (brand name) and does it cover the back camera? thanks
Just as a temp, I'm using a Kindle Fire case. Not the Fire HD just the Fire. It use elastic straps on each corner, I just leave the top right strap off to keep from covering light sensor and camera. It will work until I find a real one.

I ordered the 2nd one and it should be arriving today.
I decided to do another Amazon search for cases and came across another one by i-UniK. I'm not familiar with the brand, but I am liking the looks of it. It appears to be new with no reviews yet and at a pretty reasonable price ($13.99). It looks pretty good with a magnetic cover and it appears there are appropriate cut-outs for the front facing camera along with the light sensor. Very tempted by it. For those that are curious, you can check it out at: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D3MPRDC/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_title

Oddly, the i-unik case is categorized in Home & Kitchen, so I guess people aren't finding it when they search for cases.
Anyways, I found it too late after I had ordered the i-blason, but even if I had found it, I would have gone with the i-blason as it looks more "appealing" to me with the stitching around the front of tablet.

Wow, I never noticed where the i-unik case was 'placed' as far as categories are concerned.. that makes a lot of sense when it comes to no reviews - nobody knew it existed, haha!
EDIT: The Uni-Lock clip on my case broke after a few weeks. Most reviews on amazon report the same issue. The lock is flimsy and will not last. Sadly this nice case is ruined by a cheap plastic latch. I returned mine and can no longer recommend it.
I got my i-Blason i-Folio Slim Hard Shell Stand case Cover for Hisense Sero 7 Pro Android Tablet with Elastic Hand Strap, Stylus Loop & Bonus Stylus (3 Year Warranty) (Black) today. Ordered from amazon, shipped by i-BLASON (now available fullfilled by amazon for less).
First of all, the case is great. Fit and finish are excellent.
Sadly though, the "Stylus Loop & Bonus Stylus" are nowhere to be found. I suspect this is an error in the description (copied from the "Leather" case). However, one review on amazon from June 12th apparently did get the stylus, so I'm not sure what's up with that? Gonna have to send off an email or two and see what happens. FYI: Even the description on i-BLASON's site says it comes with the bonus stylus.
Now, back to the case...
The snap-in fit appears to be quite secure. It's hard to pry the tablet loose without bending the case sides back, so I don't think I'll have to worry about it accidentally popping out of the shell.
The lock for the cover works in both the open and closed positions, giving a solid, secure feeling to the case. I haven't seen the "Leather" version of the case, but I imagine the hand strap works better with this version with the cover locked.
Holes for the rear camera, flash and speakers are positioned well and should not interfere with those features. There is no need for a hole for the front camera, because unlike the "Leather" version of the case, there is nothing covering the front of the tablet. This makes the hard shell version of the case thinner, but I suppose the "Leather" case would offer some additional protection if you were to drop the unit with the cover open. Personally, I prefer the more open design.
To use the stand feature you pull the "bottom" of the tablet away from the flap (the Velcro that holds the rear cover flat when you are not using the built-in stand feature is quite strong) and then slot it into one of 3 grooves in the front cover. The 2 rearmost positions work well, but, for me at least, the front one (the one that would have the shallowest angle) does not. The tablet slips easily from that slot and lays down flat. For a shallow angle it is possible to just fold the cover under the back and turn the tablet around the other way (180 from the normal stand position). That creates a nice low angle for typing on the screen.
All in all I'm quite happy with the case, but disappointed about the missing stylus.
If anyone has any questions I haven't answered, ask.
Aloha, Tim
I've been a big fan of the slim cases that Blurex has made for the 7" tablets, specifically the Acer A100 and Nexus 7. So, when I picked up a Hisense Sero 7 Pro, I contacted Blurex to see if they intended to produce a case for it. Sadly, they passed, but I noticed a similar case for the $99 Sero 7 on I-Blason's site. It lacked the cut-out for the rear-facing camera, but otherwise looked like a nice option. Well, about a week ago I spotted the same case for the Pro version being offered on Amazon for $19.95 and ordered it. The package arrived yesterday and so far I'm very pleased with the fit and build quality of the case.
Like the Blurex cases, it doesn't cover the front glass as all. It protects the corners and offers easy access to all the ports and buttons. Unlike Blurex (which uses a leather covered spring-clip), I-Blason's case has a plastic clip on the side to hold the cover closed. It's attached to the case with elastic and opens easily enough with one hand. You can also use the clip to secure the flap when the case is open. As long as the plastic doesn't break, it seems like a nice feature. If someone wanted to lose the clip, and X-acto blade and some sandpaper would make easy work of it.
It also has a built-in hand strap which is nicely made as well. There's a piece of Velcro which holds the hinged part of the back leather to the plastic case. If you open it, the case acts as a 3-position stand for the tablet in landscape mode. The only this that's a little strange is the hinge on the front cover. I've played with the case for a day, and haven't found a situation where the hinge actual comes into play. In fact, it actually causes the cover to pop-up slightly when it's closed, although I'm sure it will flatten out after a couple days.
The verdict? I'm really and impressed with this case. It's nicely designed and has a high-quality build. For people who aren't a fan of cases that add bulk or cover the bezel, I highly recommend the I-Blason Slim Case.

I wish I would of found this case before I bought a case this weekend. Or at least before I tossed all the packaging and receipt. I ordered one of these as well. It took 2 case purchases before I was happy with my Kindle Fire. I suppose buying two cases for the Sero will be acceptable.
I probably will continue using the case I picked up and I will talk about it in a second. I have a bit more unique requirements than most others. My tablet rides in the trunk of either my scooter or my motorcycle almost daily. I was looking for a case that had good enough protection to prevent any damage from tossing around in the trunk. I had been putting the tablet inside my soft-side cooler but I think the i-blason with the plastic case should provide enough protection.
I have been using the Medge universal 7" case. This is a bulky case and fully zips closed around the tablet. I think it is great for activities like I need it for with superp protection. The piece the tablet sits on is about 1/8" wider on all sides so it gives good impact protection. I like a slim case for day to day use and I am betting I will switch to the i-Blason one, but I have been happy with the medge one as well.

Pouches

Here I am, in total confusion. Should I buy a pouch or case?
Here's what I feel, think and want:
I like a pouch, because the phone inside is pure. I can take it out and I'll be holding the phone in its slimmest form (read: original form). On the other hand, I have used pouches before with my LG Optimus 2X and the cover got these marks where it always slid over the pouch (basicly, cover was screwed).
That said, it's pretty clear. I like to hold the S5 like I got it from the box. On the other hand I would like it to have some protection.
I feel that a flip case (from Samsung) might suit me the best, because it's pretty thin and covers the screen as well.
But, somehow I think that this flip case might be a bit unhandy sometimes (taking pictures, holding it to type, sturdy?).
What I'm asking: does anyone have experience with large smartphones and pouches?
Here's some links:
S5 Flip wallet
Krusell Pouch 1
Krusell Pouch 2
(also, if you know some other pouches - perhaps tailored for the S5 - do tell!)
I am looking for a pouch as well..using the one for I got for the S3 but for obvious reasons, it doesnt close the top portion unless if i force the velcro to reach, lol.
I'm also looking for a pouch for my S5. I've purchased a couple off of ebay. They are always too big. Has anyone found one that they could recommend that fits a naked S5? Not one that can also fit a Note. This is a big phone already and I don't want to have an even bigger pouch on my belt.
I'm not in the practice to carry a purse around. I carry a pouch on my belt. I use it to carry my phone, nothing else. I have a wallet in my back pocket for cards and such. I like the look and feel of the phone itself. I don't want to cover my well designed phone with a cheap case or even and expensive one. I'm looking for a pouch that fits the s5 cleanly and naked. All I've seen so far are ones that fit it with a case on it or they are universal and big enough to also fit a note. The note is a class bigger than I need.

I don't know exactly what you are looking for but I just received this pouch and my naked S5 fits in it perfectly with no room to spare. You may have tried one like this already. Once clipped onto your belt the case can be rotated 360 degrees through eight different, fairly firm positions 45 degrees apart. If you don't want the rotation capability you could easily glue it in the position you want. The flap is held in place magnetically.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/191366031321
Those are the specs I am looking for. But I'm also wanting a horizontal pouch. I also need a very good clip. I usually get one that has the the extra belt loops on each side of the clip. I work on a ladder all the time and usually have other things on my belt also. I've had lesser clips work their way off while up there and phones don't do well from a drop that far up.

Wawo cover for tab s 10.5

So I wanted a thin, lightweight cover that still added a little bit of protection and could be used as a stand and went to Amazon. I found a Wawo brand smart cover which appears to be very similar to the book cover from Samsung and it was less than $8. I've had it for about 4 days now and I'm really impressed with the quality. If you're looking to save some $ and want a nice, quality case check this bad boy out. It's also available for the 8.4 I believe as well as several other sammy tablets.

i broguht this wavo cover for my s tab 8.4 and it fits it fine and is great value for $12 i paid on amazon..has side protection, stylus holder...the sim slot however is covered as its for the non sim T700 version and not the simT705 version.
I purchased this cover when it was on sale for $3.99. (It's now $8.99) I already have the Samsung Book Cover for my 10.5 Tab, but thought I would get this just to check out (Considering the price at the time). I'm surprised at the functionality of this cover. It operates just like the OEM book cover except for the securing snaps. The magnets and folds are the same. It does add some heft but has a soft leather feel. I used it for several days then went back to the OEM Book Cover, just can't beat it! It is nice to have a decent back-up cover just in case.

[Q] Has anyone found a tablet sleeve that actually fits (Tab S 10.5 T-805)?

Hi everyone,
for months now I've tried to find a sleeve (soft pouch w/zipper) that isn't either too small or much to large for a Galaxy TabS 10.5 tablet to no avail. I've already ordered and sent back about a dozen of sleeves from vaious online retailers (some even with the explicitly stated guarantee that they fit the tablet, including a slim cover, like a glove - they didn't ) to no avail. I'm still carrying it around in an old belkin sleeve for an iPad3 with a broken zipper (which is out of production), just because I can't find any other sleeve with the correct measuments (inside pouch must be 25.1 centimeters by 18.2 centimeters by 1.3 centemeters, not smaller, and not much larger either).
Has anyone found such a thing? I thought the Galaxy tablets are rather common devices, but I had less problems to find a sleeve for a PIPO tablet my brother owns, than for this one. :crying:
Cheers, Pit.
I have mine in an Unicorn Beetle Pro Full-Body Protective Case, and then i have it in a black zip-up hard case that i bought for an ereader years ago, and it`s a nice tight fit.
Fitting an hard-case to your 10.5" gives your tablet a larger size so it will be a tighter fit in some of the loose cases, though if you are into light rather than protection this is most likely not for you, Tip (cut out the crap built in screen protector and use your favourite one)
supcase often do discount codes, do a search and see what you can find.

John.
I second Tinderbox's recommendation. I have the same case for my T700 and it's amazing; with the exception of the built-in screen protector. I mean, it has protected my screen, BUT the protector itself is so scratched up that it isn't very transparent anymore and that's just for normal use.

I have a T800 and use a Poetic flip open sleeve and it is light super thin and fits perfectly with all cutouts. I also used a Poetic on a tab 10.1
Here is mine and it's a tank.

I have a tempered glass protector on top made by Skinomi perfect fit then grabbed an otter box cheap off amazon, popped out the screen protect on the otter box so i have tempered glass protect the screen otter box around the rest
its pretty well protected and have crystal clear screen and protection. I also removed the tablet stand stuff from the hard plastic cover and put a thin sheet of foam in it so can click that on for sticking in laptop bag or on the go for added protection while traveling its like fort knox no pun intended on the knox thing.
