In developer options I use the keep mobile data on despite having wifi so the hand off is fast. Periodically it just toggles itself off. Never happened on Nougat, but has been happening with Oreo. Has anyone else found the culprit for this ?

I used juice defender a few times, but could not find any other feature besides the enabling/disabling of the wifi and 3g.
I found it not reliable, and I ended up doing this manually.
Does this app do anything else besides that?
Cpu throttling?
any other battery saving "things"?
Thanks
It *can* make a huge difference with just the default settings. However, recent updates seem to have really knackered it for some people.
It stopped working for me and would not work again, even after uninstall - reinstall, until my phone was re-rooted for some reason.
supposedly.
but what does it actually do?
Disable/enable wifi/data based on your criteria to save battery.
Problem is, wifi part is not really working for me.
Sometime JD won't enable wifi because "user disabled wifi" but i didn't disable anything.
I PMed the developer and he never answered.
Did i mention i bought ultimate juice and i shouldn't have because no fix means crap app?
I tried using it for a little while with default settings but after 2 days I found it drained my battery more, and my data would not always re-enable itself when the screen came on. Sometimes it would even put itself in airplane mode.
Hopefully someday it gets updated. A lot of people swear it works great.
yeah after reboot i'm having the same problem.. JD not working and shows error.. boring.. hope they fix it a.s.a.p
di you guys have any issues while wifi or 3g get enabled?
When i used it I had a lot of problems with wifi not connecting or 3G not connecting after I strated the phone.
thats why I decided to do it manually.
It seems to me this app is overrated, and it's name is tricky.
names seems like it does more than it actually does.
Yes, i have problems with WIFI when i use JD.
The app is good if you don't have a data plan as you don't have to keep wifi always on and waste battery.
The wifi policy to turn wifi off when screen is off doesn't help either because you won't get updates.
JD works fine about 70% of the time but when i see i don't get any updates for 30min then something is wrong and i have to turn wifi on manually because JD believes is disabled by user which is not.
As i said, i sent an email to developer and i was ignored.
so I am curious if anyone has run into this issue (or if it's not an issue and rather it's just the way the phone behaves, perhaps someone can tell me if there is a workaround in settings?):
it seems to me that turning wifi on doesn't always make wifi the active connection. it's intermittent, but it appears to happen frequently.
I found out because I started to download some stuff out of my audiogalaxy collection (which REQUIRES wifi, it doesn't let you do it on mobile data) and it kept telling me to enable wifi to continue downloading.
speed tests confirmed that I was on mobile data, not wifi... even though wifi was turned on and connected.
I've also noticed that occasionally, you'll turn wifi on and it won't replace the mobile data icon... I imagine it's all related.
any of you guys encountering this or should I go get myself a replacement?
Hi everyone,
I am new here, and would like some help with my Nexus 5.
It is running stock rom and everything, Android 5.0.1 LRX22C
I am still setting up, so still using my old phone while I get all the mandatory apps on before i switch my SIM over.
I realised that battery seems to be draining rather quickly even it spends most of its time on just Wifi right beside the router. Cellular connection is not on. So one day I decided to turn it to airplane mode and see what happens.
As you can see from the attachment, WiFi was on all the time even though the phone was on airplane mode. I believe this is the cause of the battery drain. I did not turn WiFi on.
"Scanning always available" was turned off, and the top battery drainer is "Android system", but at only 1%.
(The screenshot was only taken after I reconnected Wifi and downloaded GSam, that explains the notifications.)
Does anyone know the cause of this? I'd prefer if I do not need to factory reset the phone as I am pretty much done setting up everything and I don't want to have to do it all again.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks!
If you go to 'Advanced' there should be an option called 'Keep WIFI on during sleep', click there and then click 'Never' or 'Only when plugged in'. Good luck.
I too had the same problem when i updated to lollipop but after some days of usage i found that in wifi under advance there was a new option scanning always available which was turn on. What this setting do is even if ur wifi is off the app can scan for wifi signals for the location. So if u want to keep ur wifi off just turn off that setting.
I already had it turned off, but the battery settings still reports WiFi as on. Weird thing is GSam says my WiFi is off, so I'm not sure what is the problem now.
It might be the Android System, reporting it uses even more battery than my screen now.

Hi all. I have a weird issue that after Googling it doesn't seem anyone else has had.
The issue started earlier today, in the morning. I was using my phone on the WiFi and it was working phone, then my phone crashed, restarted itself.
I noticed it wasn't connected to the WiFi, went to the WiFi settings and where it usually says the list of networks it said "Turning on WiFi" and the slider at the top was greyed out so I couldn't turn it off.
I tried airplane mode and that didn't help. But the phone was working fine on my mobile data so restarted.
Now the weirder part starts. I basically have an issue where, if I turn on the WiFi, my phone crashes, or doesn't act like it's turning the WiFi on.
Even going Settings and then pressing on the WiFi option freezes the phone.
The problem started when I was still using 4.4.4 however since the problem developed I've used my mobile data to download the updates and now have 5.1.1 I think.
The problem persists even after updating to the most recent version and doing a factory restore. The phone is currently completely stock with nothing downloaded on to it. All I did is go through the first time setup for the device.
The WiFi currently is off, and the phone is working however it won't connect to my data, it has the signal bars and then an ! instead of a 4G icon.
If I try to turn the WiFi on it crashes the phone.
The phone is still under warranty so I plan on contacting LG on Monday however it's currently 3:34 AM on a Sunday so I have a day until I can call them and was hoping for a solution in that time.
Thanks in advance. I have the phone to hand so anything you want me to test I'm able to.
There is some information I didn't type as I don't know what is important was trying to avoid a wall of text so if you have any more questions I'll answer I best I can.
Thanks for reading, I hope you can help!
Hi,
I'm using a Sony Xperia Z5 Dual Android 7.0 facing that issue making me unable to use my WLAN hotspot (which it pretty anoying cause it doesn't only dissallow me to share my internet connection but also I can't do other network stuff between devices I'd use that hotspot for).
So when I try to turn on my the hotspot it simply turns itself off again after small amount of seconds. When I got to WLAN hotspot in settings then I have the active button to switch the hotspot on while it shows me tbat it's of at the moment. Doing that it says "Activating hotspot..." (pretty exactly that) until it's going off again with a quick "Deactivating hotspot" and you could activate it again but it will do nothing again than say "activating" and go off again. While it is "activating" it already shows the active hotspot icon in the top bar of the phone and the hotspot settings are as well already active and no more inactive greyed out. But only for nk idea, 3 seconds probably. Within that short period of time my laptop didn't find my phones hotspot but that might just be down to an to high delay in scanning and finding so I don't know wether it would shortly pop up seeable for other devices.
Earlier that day I had my hotspot working actively (nobody actually joined) but it worked and would have if somebody joined because that issues is not new to me on my phone and when the hotspot activates, then it also works. But half of the time it seems when I want to use it, it doesn't work. I haven't changed any settings inbetween or restarted my phone. It was probably on for one week, but after then trying a restart it still didn't help.
I already changing some one-click stuff like just turning out WLAN, turning off or on data save mode (which stops background data for all apps in mobile internet and WLANs marked as hotspots), turning off or on mobile data. But well, I don't know anything else and earlier it worked with all the same settings so what could be the problem behind that?? Besides that my phone always just works completely normally without any issues, WLAN always works without problems, only Bluetooth sometimes doesn't want to activate and then I see it active after some minutes or hours later, but that can always be fixed with a restart if I needed it instantly. If you just wait and it is active then tough, it is kinda awoken and works instantly then again shutting it off and on.
Phone is not rooted btw.
Ok long text, but please if you have any ideas tell me..
Greetings, HelpsToMes
