Is anyone aware of a Gmail app (paid or free) that can do the following, just like the Gmail web interface?
1. Ability to assign label(s) to emails/conversations and have those label(s) shown next to the conversation title in the inbox
2. The Undo feature, when moving or deleting mail. Great for my occasional slip ups sending a mail to the wrong label.
Right now I'm using TypeApp, super feature rich but missing those two key features important to me.

Does one exist? And if not why is that? I have noticed that there is almost NOTHING around that interacts with Google voice sms. Is this difficult to do? Thanks.

Would love to have a way to configure GV so that the sms came to the native 'messages' and had an unread/heard voicemail notification widget...
Actually it is possible to have Google voice sms delivered to the native messaging app. You have to visit the Google voice websiteand click settings. Under phones, click edit on the phone you wish to receive messages on and check the box that says "Receive text messages on this phone"

And in doing that, you no longer have free texting through GV.

search for "google voice unread count" or "feokala" in the market
It also looks like crap. I think I may start in on a much more aesthetically pleasing widget.

I know this is an old thread. I was searching for a GV icon with an unread count because I also think the one available in the market looks like crap. Was just curious if you ever started on the "more aesthetically pleasing widget?"

I too would be interested in wondering if any work has started. I could offer some services if needed. Not real happy with the one on market either, the gmail widget looks great though that is free on the market. Need something more like that.
I'm a little confused. Is that ugly paid widget really the only way to get an unread voicemail count for GV on Android? How is this not a native option of the GV app? This seems like a basic feature.

If you use Kanok Gem's SMS Unread Count (android.kanokgems.com/sms-unread-count) and forward your Google Voice messages to your Gmail account you can get notifications pretty easily.
Create a label in Gmail called "Voice" or something to that effect. (Note: I seemed to run across a bug where the widget can't identify labels with two separate words, so it can't find a "Google Voice" label, but it can find a "Voice" label.)
Set up a filter under settings to filter all emails from Google Voice to your new "Voice" label. If you check off "Skip the inbox (Archive it)," the messages will appear as new in your Voice label only and will not show up in your inbox. This avoids double notifications - one for gmail and one for your voicemail.
When you add the widget and change the setting to Gmail, it asks what label you want to use. Select your "Voice" label.
You can easily use custom icons. Directions are on the developer's website.
It's admittedly a workaround for a feature that is lacking in Android, but it works well for me.

Cheers for this!!! I've got it working, only how do you clear the icon count bubble in a practical sense? Clicking the icon launches Gmail, and if you delete the email of course the count goes away but this seems a little cumbersome. Marking the email as read either in gmail or automatically using the filter rules doesn't remove the count. I'm guessing that ticking the 'Delete it' option in the respective filter would work, but of course I'll never get the count at all then...
Has Froyo fixed the issue of "Family" and "Friends" contact groups getting deleted on web UI?
I don't like the in call wallpaper (green robot) on Android that appears when I am talking to someone not in my contacts list. Is there any way this can be changed?
Finally, is there a way to make Gmail app allow choosing from more than one email addresses when sending an email? I have configured three "Send From" addresses under my Google Apps email account but Gmail app shows only one (default).

What do you want to do actually this was a different kind of querry......
Right now I'm using Handcent SMS and it's okay but I'm missing a very usefull feature: Marking some text in a recived SMS and send it to another app.
Example:
If I recive a adress then then mark it and send it to maps.
If I recive a appointment then mark it and send it to the calender
Is there an SMS app that can do this? and have all the other great features of Handcent?
I am not aware of an sms app that can do that. There are copy/paste apps that can get addresses over to Nav as a work around though.

I'm using the copy/paste trick now but I think it culd be done easier.
Am I really the first one who thought of this?
I'm not a developer but I think it would be somewhat easy to make.
1. make it possible to mark out some of the text in a sms
2. pop up a menu with options: Save as.., copy, send to..
3. a sub menu to send to where it list the apps that should receive the text. maps, contacts, calender, whatever
Well now the idea is out there, then I home some developer picks it up
Me and some friends mostly use twitters "direct message" function to send SMS-like short messages.
Now I had an idea if it's possible to write an app which allows you to write direct messages through a shortcut in the contacts app.
Just like I open the contact app, select the contact who should get my message, tap on "Send DM" (or something like this" and a little window opens in which I can write my message.
I don't know anything about writing apps myself so I just want to know if it's possible, of course if someone writes this app there have to be some other features, like notifications and display the characters count.

I'm sorry for posting again without responses, but I think this idea is too good to be not noticed.
The good things about this app:
-messaging about data connection, no sms costs
-messaging to everyone who has twitter and follows you
-no need that your chat partner has got this app, cause it works trough all twitter clients
-no need to sign up for another service, which only one half of your friends use
-comfortable direct messaging through a nice UI
The bad:
-only 140 characters
-no pictures, files or anything like this due to twitter limitations

Looking for an App that will force a loud ringtone (even when on silent) when an email arrives (into Gmail box) from a specific email address (or addresses).
Basically a 'prioiry email' type application. I have had a nosey round the market and various apps seem to offer partial results but nothing concrete.
This is needed for overnight support at work - to make sure that any incidents wake up the on-call guys
in other words it needs to be a pretty stable app
Any thoughts ?

You might also be able to do something like that with Tasker. I know it is possible to trigger alarms and other changes/activities with SMS messages, so email may be as well.
