KLWP shortcut and button presses. - General Questions and Answers

Hello XDA community. I am a long time fan of the work that you all do.
First time posting, haven't had too much of a problem with programs that I couldn't figure out. I finally found something that I am stumped with. Probably something small I'm overlooking.
I have a KLWP that I like, Hexa Tech, but I want to modify the YouTube button on the music home screen to open only a link to YouTube, specifically the subscription side. However it will only open up the YouTube app. It's locked so I can't edit anything in the shortcut menu.
Am I screwed or is it something simple? Keep in mind it is 3am here. >_>

EDIT: I fixed it. Amazing what sleep can do for you. I had YouTube set as primary entertainment launch. Disabling the app now allows me to go to a set Url instead of opening the app.

S2U2 How to remove the scrolling ad at the bottom...

Hey there is text at the bottom that scrolls on S2U2...is there anyway to hide this text? I don't need the banner as I know A_C makes S2U2 for windows mobile.

It's there because people were taking his app and selling it in "iPhone packages" online. Besides, it's built in to the exe so you'd have to edit it yourself.

Go ahead and ask AC in his own thread if you can remove the small piece of branding his has in his free application which only appears for the first 10s the first time you see the lock after it starts up and never again until iLock starts again.
Let us know what he says. Send him a donation while you're at it.

I would like a paid version to remove it xD
i like it rather stayin there..just like a sig reminds me of the hard-work done by AC for all of us and tht too for free! All praises to AC for his hard-work
(just my point of view..not all may share the same tho)
Hehe...
It's not ad or banner, it's copyright notification added due to already mentioned events which almost caused A_C to stop developing his applications.
So, we all supported A_C in putting it there. If majority of XDA users can live with that, I hope you can too...

AMEN to that bro...I love A_C's work so he deserves acknowledgement in his own app.
As others said, it's there for a reason. Other than that, the animation scrolls only ONCE and it disappears until you restart iLock.exe
Normally, iLock.exe restarts only when you soft reset your device, or when you make changes on the S2U2 configuration. If you don't change your configuration often, then you should see the scrolling text only after each soft reset, the first 5-10 seconds. Then it's gone...
If it was a logo or something else that didn't screw up the look, I would have no problem having the copyright notice.
But the simple fact its a disgusting scrolling text makes it so that I will not install S2U2 on my phone again until there is an option to get rid of it.
I don't even understand how someone can make an app that looks so good to just screw it up by putting a scrolling text like that in there!
Have you no pride sir?
If you don't like it then use someone else's software.

What a bizzarre (i.e. wrong) point of view. S2U2 is the best WM application available and one copyright notification is something I'm happy to see. I'd be happy to see it every time. Why does it cause you so much offence?

S2U2 is beauty, ruined by a fake set of tits.
Come on, guys, read what I said instead of going into some fanboyish idiotic protective mode.
How the hell can someone make such a beautiful app and come up with nothing better then a nasty scrolling text for any purpose.

i could agree to you if this text would be scrolling thru the sreen over and over again, but acutally it scrolls thru screen only one time. (or do you change your config / restart your device every ten minutes?)
Also it's a good info about what version you have installed currently
This Scroll texts isn't nice but, I only restart my phone one's a week so....
And it IS possible to remove it, just by little debugging and patching but I won't do it and not even show you how, because this would just make our beloved A_C angry and I do not want him to stop developing
I can't believe this is even considered an issue. I personally have been using S2U2 since my days with an Apache (back when it was still S2U) and it has never been a problem to see the name of a hard working developer on the most useful WM app ever. As was mentioned before if you don't like it then just don't use it, there is no need for whining. This thread has really shown who is here to support the community and who is just here to feed off the work of some real talented people.

I've just read this thread for the first time, and I had to go and restart my phone to work out what was being discussed. I've been using s2u and s2u2 for years, and never even noticed it.
It's not worth getting pissy over, and certainly not a reason to avoid such a fantastic piece of software.

Tasker Help

Well, doesn't appear many people answer questions on help with Tasker. I know it says it has a high learning curve and isn't for the casual user but I can't even get something as simple as having wifi turn on at home and then off when i leave. I am also not saying the app sucks but I am thinking about asking them for a refund because even doing simple things seems to be very clunky to do. I hope someone can walk me throug the wifi thing and if anyone knows a link to a place where you can actually learn how to use the app that would be great. I guess the developer is making so much money he doesn't care if people need help or not.

Did you actually look at the official Wiki linked from the Tasker website? It contains many example profiles you can download and customize as well step-throughs on setting up some of your own...
http://tasker.wikidot.com/
Also, if you search this site, there are a few threads where profiles have been posted. And I know people have linked to other sites that have guides/profiles (and even sites like Lifehacker have posted basic tutorials on the app). I also think there is a pretty active Google Group where the developer actually answers people's questions.

You know you can download the whole instruction manual to your phone, and each item has a question mark you can click that gives you relevant info? Having WiFi come on at a given location is one of the easiest profiles to set up.
1. At the bottom click New> State> Cell Near
2. In the Cell Near window click the Scan button, and walk around your home (or wherever) to make sure you pick up all the cell towers near by. When you're done, stop scanning and click Done.
3. On the Task Selection window click New Task> and in the Task Edit window click the + sign> Net> WiFi
4. In the WiFi window change Set to On and click Done.
5. Click Done in the Task Edit window and you're finished
Thanks, and now of course i see a thread not too far from here with examples. It didn't show up in search though because the search function on this site sucks ass! I set it up to do it by time and that didn't work so i'll try it your way. Thanks again.

Best answer I could find, and it makes sense:
This isn't possible from an OS level. That share menu is populated by Android based on what apps you've installed declare they can open. You can look at the technical details here, but the end result is that without extra coding from each individual app to filter the results, you are always going to get the full list in whatever order Android returns them in.

Basically in the apps code somewhere it states that it has the ability to use the Share function, so it's automatically added. Without removing the code or removing the app altogether, Android sees the app and adds it. Might be something someone a lot smarter than myself would be able to write an app that manipulates this somehow. But from what I'm seeing it hasn't been done.
thanks man, its ok if just cant be done, everything has limitations...
Would it be possible to have a separate share app that lets you add options (like "SMS to Bob") as well as hide some of the defaults? That app itself could be registered as a "sharing" app (maybe sorting to the top of the list?) or could be launched individually. So a process flow could be to launch this share app, load up the gallery, choose the photo, choose the destination. And that process would be just as convenient as launching the gallery, choosing the photo, selecting to share, and selecting the destination. Same number of steps.

I found the best force orientation app ever!

I'm here to recommend one to u guys, found it in the market after a few hours.
Since i cant post links, search for 'Display orientator' by RUBBERBIGPEPPER
Well, I've looked the app up on the internet and really I can't find anything really special about it. Could you maybe explain why you think it's so wounderfull?
Here. I think it's actually worth trying! Thanks OP
I was just searching for such an app and stumbled upon this thread.
It seems like a great app. There are some apps that I use daily which do no allow vertical orientation. With this app, I was able to force it....
Thanks!
fantastic and very useful little app, flick golf looks miles better wide screen ;-) . thanks....
Perfect! Just what I've been looking for.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to bump a 2 months old thread but here goes. It's still relevant now anyway.
It's not the problem whether this app is special or not, it's actually the only app on the market that allows you to force your screen's orientation. Well, there is actually another one but it's not free and the reviews said it's not working properly.
I've had issues with one game where I accidentally kept pressing the softkeys. Used this app to turn the screen 180 degrees and I don't have that problem anymore. Also surfing the internet (I tend to switch between portrait or horizontal when browsing) or watching youtube while lying on bed is no longer a problem.

Still getting popup adds, no aps open

The latest wrinkle in this ongoing problem is ads with soundtracks! They just start going off when I'm on my phone, and if I'm in public they can be really annoying to those around me! I've read the only thread on the subject posted last year where someone suggested an ap call configAPK be found and removed. I did that but I'm stilling ads. Someone suggested hit the Recent key on the navigator in order to find the source of the ad, like what app put it out, but I didn't understand the instruction. Some members even blamed Samsung for doing the, but how would their doing this not simply drive everyone to consider an Apple phone?

Thanks so much. This will keep me busy for a while!
It's odd that this is going on. Apps are hijacking our phones and getting away with it! Actually, I'm surprised advertisers are doing this. Do they really think people will read their ads, or just get get pissed and boycott!? Half the time I don't even know who the advertiser is because my kneejerk response is instants "delete"!

Just in reference to the recent apps method you mentioned it's just another way to get into app settings through settings - apps.

I'm still working on the process in the link.
Today I hit the Recent button after a video ad and found BeiTaPlug. I planed to Google it but saw your response and had to check it. Later I saw Smart Scan there, which I know i suspicious, by virtue of having a Scan prefix. I can find the latter but not the former. It appears to be a plug in but where would I find plugins?
