Hey all.. Lookin for a bit of insight..
Tryin to build my own daily use zip of my fav rom.
But im stuck at environment setup.
Cant get these packages with most current ubuntu
lib32readline-gplv2-dev
libwxgtk2.8-dev
really.. not one person?
figured out of 20 views someone might have a bit of insight...
hope someone does, cuz im stumped, all the build guides refer to the same environment setup stuff, and im not keen on downgrading my current 17.10 ubuntu setup and redoing everything
Views doesn't mean anything
And this is an S7 forum, not an Ubuntu forum, not really anything to do with the S7 until you are actually developing the ROM

There are guides on CM website but you have to modify it for the pyramid. Im looking at it now but I think there are some things still marked as private therefore we cant get them yet and cant get a complete build of it yet.

well then how would i go about doing this building directly from the AOSP source? im syncing the repo for that right now.. what else would i need to do to build towards our device?
AOSP doesn't even have support for 7x30, let alone 8x60. A lot of stuff goes into CM that users can't see in order to make the devices compatible.
Hi!
I'm new on XDA and on Android programming. I want to learn how to create a custom ROM for my Nexus S i9020A (and who knows posting it here for you guys as well) . The thing is I dont know where to start! Im familiar with Windows, Linux and Mac, so the OS isnt a issue, but how can I begin? ASOP seems better? What do I need and etc?
If anyone could help me, would be awesome!
Thanks a lot!

Make sure you are running ubuntu 10.4 and you can find info HERE and HERE.
So the recipe to start is ubuntu 10.04 (LTS) and the download the source?
Thanks!
Any help with adding root, busybox, deodexing, unsecure boot.img, etc? the basic tweaks i mean..
that would be more than amazing!
what is ubuntu used for when writing roms? would like to know the above as well
ubuntu is used to compile android from source.. ubuntu/mac.. windows i believe also can be used, but more painfully.. so ubuntu FTW! and the android kitchen runs smooth on linux, just tried yesterday and figured out the root/busybox stuff.. just the kernel thing is a little blur yet..
Hello everybody
Recently, I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2233282. After a while testing it with the new method, I found out I had some bugs. I then wanted to test the old method, aka compiling the kernel + module from the debian image. The problem is, even with http://oldwiki.cyanogenmod.org/wiki/Building_Kernel_from_source I don't understand what to do. Do I have to type every single line, replacing the source with the debian image, with botbrew, or am I missing something (I surely am).
tl,dr how do I compile a kernel for this
I'm really new to all this stuff, but curiosity makes me want to go further. I hope somebody can help me a little bit.
Thanks in advance.
My phone is a s2 i9100, cm10.1
Hi guys, I don't know if this is the right place, but I have a question.. I want to build my own version of a rom from a dev github (purity rom). I read some guides but things aren't clear for me.. Can you point me to the right direction? What software do I need and so on.. I saw some people using kitchen, some using architekt, some using Linux and some Windows so a little help is needed.. What I want to do is download the rom from github, change some things like wallpapers, sounds and some apps and then rebuild, no crazy stuff.. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey guys, so I came across this ROM a while back and I thought that someone would of compiled it by now but they haven't. So I have decided I will give it a shot. I know basic things about building Rom's but not much. I have set up my Ubuntu build environment and I'm ready to go. But I need help in the steps to make this ROM. So if anyone could help out I would really appreciate it. Thanks for reading and hope some of the top devs can help out here.
