Traveling Tips for Malaysia - for a newbie European traveler - General Topics

Hay lads and gals,
I am planning a small trip to malaysia in the first quarter of 2018.
What i am looking for is advice on apps that help with communicating( traveling between cities and other destinations by bus or train),
Like for instance a train and bus lines in Cities like Kuala Lumpur but also trains and buses between cities like Kuala Lumpur and Malacca City for example.
I use apps to pay for pretty much everything in my daily life and traveling through europe but i never been outside this continent and Malaysia is rather exotic place for me.
I would like to either check what line can get me there and times of departure with approximate ticket prices, if available it would be great to have app that allows you to buy tickets directly through the phone.
Additionally if you have any suggestions on necessary apps and info I need before going I will be thankful as this is my first trip outside Europe.
Thank you all for the info in advance

I like to travel and I’ve visited a lot of foreign countries that have nice history. Every country have their own habits and that helps you to be more tolerate when you see something unusual for your native country. Another benefit of travelling is that you improve your language skills by learning a new language or dialect. Last year I was very confused about the place I wanted to visit and someone recommended me OnHolidays because they help you to find a hotel room or a house in Australia and this is the country with a very interesting culture and educated people.

TomTom USA maps query

Hi all,
I've got a query which I'm sure a knowledgable person here may know the answer to!
Thinking of getting the USA maps from the TomTom site and theres an option to have all of canada and the USA and hawaii and includes 'street mapping' and covers '99%' of these countries.
But also listed is various regional maps - north east US south area, mid area etc etc.
So what's the difference ? why buy those regional maps?
is it just for those with small MicroSD cards so that not as much space is taken up?
for the price, the full USA and Canada map looks to be good value. I just want to know if theres any benefit in getting any of the regional maps?
Cheers!
Dennis! West London UK!
Buy the full USA & Canada set. You can then choose to download all or just sections, depending on the size of your micro SD card. All of the US and Canada map set only takes up about 2 gig with a voice and sat imagery.

Simple gas price app (for Canada only)

Hi all,
I just wanted to share a simple app I wrote to check the gas prices in major Canadian cities, pulling data from Dan Mcteague's Tomorrow's Gas Price Today site.
Search for "dm gas price" on android market to try it!

Best/cheapest way to "buy data" in the US and Germany

Hi people,
Looking for some help from US and German users specifically, but the question could/might apply to other countries in the future....
I work for a UK based company; we use the O2 network for our WinMo devices which our staff use to sync email/calendar etc., PLUS they often tether their mobiles to their laptops for web browsing etc. when they are away from the office (this applies mostly to sales and implementation teams, who spend a fair amount of time in the US and Germany).
We are finding that our bills for roaming data usage are getting scarily expensive; it's not uncommon to see bills of £1000GBP PER USER PER MONTH - roughly $1500USD or €1200EUR....
SO.....my question is this - can we buy something like a "Pay-as-you-go SIM" in the US and in Germany, which is preloaded with - say - a 1GB, 2GB or 5GB data allowance?? I'm thinking that we could give the users a broadband USB adapter and they could plug in the appropriate SIM card and use the "local data" for that country. Sure, the WinMo device would still have the O2 UK SIM in, but the email syncing could be set to manual when roaming which would/should keep the costs/data usage to acceptable levels.
If anyone has similar experiences, I'd be interested in hearing how they manage this sort of thing in their environment....
Thanks for reading...and hopefully, thanks for your advice!!!
Mark.

[Q] Travelling to France and prepaid data sim

Hi people,
Not sure if anyone has experience with this but on the old continent we have providers per country. This means that if I travel about 60 to 300km I will be paying like crazy for 1MB of data (at least 0.7€ or like US $1).
Now these prices are insane I know and yes I once had the pleasure of owning a wm6.5 phone that liked roaming and cost me .... a lot for a week.
Now I will be in France (Mount Ventoux area) for 2 weeks in July in the middle of nowhere and I want to have 3G or at least some data coverage so I can be in contact with my parents (read XDA) etc.
Does someone , preferably some French person here have any possibilities to find out if there is something like a prepaid card with data?
Thx in advance!
