Voice typing doesn't work via Bluetooth - Google Pixel 2 Questions & Answers

Unlocked Pixel 2 here, not rooted. I've noticed that while in my car, voice typing via the voice button in Gboard doesn't work; it doesn't seem to be getting voice at all. Google Assistant works fine via Bluetooth, and everything including voice typing works when not connected to Bluetooth. If I use voice commands to send text messages, it works fine, but I can't voice type in text fields in FB Messenger and the like.

Didn't help. Replicated issue with my Bluetooth speaker, except that now I discovered that voice typing does not work when phone calls via BT are enabled, but does when the device only supports media. Google Assistant works either way.

Clear the data for it and also clear data for the keyboard. I had that problem about a month back and that's what fixed it for me. Figured it was the Google app but I did clear data from the keyboard first.

Perhaps but it seems most people with this issue have been having it with Assistant not getting voice input. Assistant works fine for me, via Bluetooth or otherwise. It's just voice typing that's being a pain.

K, tried clearing data for both Gboard and Google app. Voice typing still does not work when phone calls are enabled for Bluetooth devices.

Disabled Bluetooth headsets under Google > Settings > Voice; it uses handset microphone for both Google Assistant and Voice Typing now even when connected to Bluetooth devices. Better than nothing I suppose. Google Support had nothing useful to suggest other than a factory reset.

Does this (voice typing over bt) actually works for anyone? I just need confirmation that this works for anyone before I go clearing any data or perform factory reset...
Can anyone connect to a bt headset, start voice typing and go to the other room (so phone's mic does not pick up sound) and say something into the bt mic and that be entered as text?
I could dictate text using Gboard over wired headphones in Duolingo app while learning Spanish in my car. Now that I started using Samsung Galaxy Buds in car, I can no longer dictate like that over Bluetooth. I do not have any other bt headphones at the moment to try them out.
Assistant works if i press and hold the earpiece, but not by simply saying "Ok Google". But there is no option of telling Assistant to type in some text in the current app. Not that I know of.

You have to use something like BT mono and activate it whenever you want to type via Bluetooth. I use it whenever I am trying to type via voice in a car using my Motorola whisper, which does a much better job than the built-in microphone..

Use Bluetooth Headset to Create Voice Memo or Memo?

Running Sean's Sky ICS.
When I am driving, I often dictate voice memos, using a standard voice recorder app. I used to be able to do this through my bluetooth headset with Voice2Do, but that app FC's now on ICS.
I have not been able to find another app that lets me create voice memos with the bluetooth headset - many say they do, but I cant get any of them to work with ICS. Does anyone know of one that works?
An acceptable alternative would be to create non-voice memos through the bluetooth headset. So, if there is a keyboard that does voice recognition through the bluetooth headset, that would work. Does anyone know of one?
I have S-Voice working through the headset, and it will save memos to S-Memo, but I cannot get S-Memo working on the Skyrocket.
A solution would be greatly appreciated.

I was looking into this as well, although I didn't get very far in my search. Tape Machine looked promising, but it couldn't open my BT device. That could be my particular device, or my third party rom. It's worth trying though.

Yeah, tried it, with no luck.
Vlingo does have an option to listen via bluetooth, and I can use it to send an email to myself (but not to create a note), but it seems to lose the bluetooth connection after one use.

[Q] Android Bluetooth Issues...Texting

Hello all!!
I've been having a hard time with this, and looking to see if this is possible with the combination I am using.
I am having trouble getting SMS to read through TTS on android 2.3.6. The phone is the MB860 Atrix 4g.
Issue: I have an Alpine head unit in my car that does HSP and A2DP. Everything works great. I can stream through A2DP from all programs. I can send phone calls through the radio or as they come in. I can even voice dial through it by accessing Voice Commands or Vlingo.
1. What I am dying to do is find the right program or combination of programs to allow the radio to see an incoming text message (using TTS) as a PHONE CALL and allow it to interrupt CD's and Tuner mode also. This is already possible through the A2DP profile for streaming music through the radio (obviously, internal to the phone)
I currently use Handcent for texting (does TTS through A2DP).
I also sparingly use Vlingo for in car mode (Does NOT play well with Handcent, If it did....my problem would be 90% solved)
Vlingo must see notifications from the stock messaging app in order to start reading the messages. (Why handcent doesnt play well will vlingo)
I just found A2DP Volume, which SUPPOSEDLY allows handcent support and allows you to choose which audio stream to put the TTS on.
I couldnt get ANY of the streams to work. (I do have PICO turned on. that was my first mistake)
In reality, overall, I would like to have Vlingo in In Car mode, to read txt to me from safe reader. I would like to respond by voice using vlingo to send the message back (This works)
2. Could I use Tasker to switch messaging apps whenever bluetooth is active.
3. The over all situation: vlingo doesnt get notifications from Handcent (which i COULD stop using handcent just for that) but i MUSTalso be in BT audio mode on the radio inorder to hear my texts read aloud.... I WOULD like to have it interrupt other modes by "faking" a phone call
This is alot to chew on.....but thanks to anyone who spends the time to read it and offer advice!!!

Bluetooth Voice Commands not working

I am using AOPK 4.12 and when trying to initate voice commands via my Bluetooth device I am having some trouble. Voice Dialer pops up when I push the talk button on my Bluetooth headset, but it doesn't pick up my voice at all. I have tried Cyberon Voice Command app, and another bluetooth headset. Am I missing something, doing something wrong? I've been trying to fix this for days and figured it was finally time to ask for assistance.
Thanks for any ideas or info you can give me =).

unfortunately with jellybean, voice commands no longer use the Bluetooth microphone. Instead, only the phone's mic will pick up your voice, even when connected to a Bluetooth device (headset, car, etc.)
I really wish this wasn't the case as I just got a Bluetooth mic for my car and its now useless.. There's no fix at the moment
I just recently bought a new camry and one of the things I noticed was that malluuba would never get to the sound wave after I hit the mic while connected to my car. By going into the Bluetooth settings and un checking media audio, it will begin working for me. If you are just using the Bluetooth mic to make calls and such, just do that as a temporary work around.

Are there any 4.2.2 ROMs out there? I read somewhere this issue might be fixed then.
I have a bluetooth headset and am running mastamoon's unofficial CM10.1 ROM. It is still sometimes wiggy, although it works better than official CM10.1. I am able to speak commands to google search after hitting the microphone icon on the phone. Is there a way to do this without having to press a button on the phone? An app maybe? I haven't had the bluetooth headset for very long.

[Q] Bluetooth Voice Command prompts not loud enough / Nexus 5 and Pioneer CD-BTB200

Hey,
I am having trouble with my Pioneer CD-BTB200 Bluetooth Adapter, which is a common problem, according to the very few available threads on the internet.
This also didn't work with any other Smartphone before i.e. Samsung S3 or Blackberry Bold 9700.
Cliffnotes:
-pairing, media streaming (different source) and receiving and making calls works great! No issues there
-transfering the contact list results in a big mess, I have to dig in there if I can figure it out or if I just transfer one contact after another....
-now for the problem.......I installed Cyberon Voice Commander because it gives me the best behaviour and voice recognition since I am a native German speaker. Google, Dragon and AIVC don't work really well. But it doesn't matter which voice assist app I use, because it is the Bluetooth adapters fault. The Nexus 5 is rooted and runs stock Kernel with KitKat 4.4.2.
When I press the voice dial button on my Pioneer AVH-P5000DVD deck it activates the Cyberon Voice Commander app (or whichever is set as default). so far so good, that is what I want.
But! the dialog between me and the phone is almost impossible because the output volume over the car speakers is way to low. I have to literally pick up the phone and look at it's display to see what the voice commanding app is doing because you have to wait until it is finished asking what I want to do. (just holding a phone is illegal in Germany)
Assuming the app understood me right and starts dialing everything turns to be fine from that point because the volume of the actual call is perfect!
When the phone talks back to me I have to crank the volume all the way up to understand it a little bit and then turn it back down fast before the phone call starts or it'll blow the speakers out....since my car is quite loud when on temperature I don't think I will understand anything when I am driving.
I heard that the app TASKER could be programmed to raise the Bluetooth volume at a certain point and then lower it again. I checked but it only goes up to 15, which I already have set before with the stock volume slider. Additionally I have no idea how to configure Tasker to (maybe) get rid of the problem.
Has anyone ever heard of a similar problem and / or has an idea how to handle it?
Again, it's only the voice command prompts that are way to quiet when I start the voice dialing function via Bluetooth, everything else is fine.
Fixed the issue with SoundAbout!

Now the voice prompts play loud and clear over the car speakers! Every other volume managing app failed miserably!
I used the latest Beta Version btw, going to buy the Pro Version soon.

I did very little changes to the settings, if anyone is interested I can hook you up with some screenshots

Got a Problem, Need Help

As Windows 10 is **** in some aspects, I am using my phone for Communication during Gaming, via Discord, Skype or Teamspeak. For doing so, I go with my HyperX Cloud 2 instead of the headset that got to me with the phone.
My problem is: Sometimes, randomly, Google Voice Search gets active, disconnecting me from thoose. Also the Stock Music Player starts randomly playing music, even skipping songs after few seconds.
I got Google Now and Voice Search deactivated, with Google Now missing rights for the Mic. I am also able to force Google to get active by turning the plug from the headset in the headset port for a bit.
Today tried it with the stock headset and it worked without problems.
But I still prefer my Cloud 2 as it is waaaaaayyyyyyyy more comfortable as i hate the way the stock one fits in the ear.
So can someone please help me getting the google voice search fully deactivated?
Using L-09 in Germany with the B120 version, being the newest my phone offers me

The problem resides with your Cloud 2. The jack doesn't fit in properly.
Because of the Headset button commands the following happens
1. Google voice gets activated (Long press triggered)
2. Stock Music Player starts randomly playing music (Single press activates it)
3. Even skipping songs after few seconds (Double press activates it)
To deactivate Google Voice, Go to Google App - > Settings -> Voice -> Hands-Free -> Toggle off Wired headsets.

Had it already de-activated, but thanks
Happened the same for me with a BB Porsche earphones. I switched to Piston 3 wich does not reproduce this kind of problem but yes unfortunatelly it is a kind of annoying problem since there are several industry standards out and you can do nothing about it.
Headphone compatibility.
Depending on them you might have random commands issued.
Same as using iPhone compatible headphone with Android phone, it gets nuts!
I'd recommend purchasing a set of android earphones, purely so you can use them properly.
The sooner Google implements this new standard as compulsory, the better!
