It's Nov 16 and my Verizon pixel still hasn't gotten November security update... - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

Title says it all. Any reason why my pixel hasn't received November ota update?
Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

Force it to check like for updates 5 or 6 times right in a row.

Has anyone got it? I still haven't on my Pixel.

Still haven't got it

Are you guys part of the beta program?
If you are exit the program, restart your phone and try again. If that doesn't work you can always sideload it via abd.
Download OTA here..
https://developers.google.com/android/ota#sailfish
I'm BL unlocked and trying to figure out how to sideload Nov OTA. I have twrp and magisk is installed.

You surely all know that November update for OG Pixel and Pixel XL was delayed and released only 6 days ago, because you all did some research before asking others to do it for you : November update google pixel
And probably because of possible Verizon specific-build, Verizon QA, and rollout phases it takes some time to get to the user, here is a very interesting read about Google devices and updates rollouts : Where is my update, and why?

You are not tricking it into checking with Google...The update comes from Moto servers. However the sim can cause the imei controlled rollout to not work correctly on some handsets thus removing the sim allows the phone to get back.in line so to speak.

As far we know so far, this is for the XT1575 only... just the December 2016 security update to 6.0, very minor update. Started rolling our about a week ago... a big push seemed to happen on the 14th and 15th with many users receiving it those days.

Is there any way to update without wifi? I have unlimited data through Cricket Wireless but the system will only let me do it over wifi.

No, WiFi is required to get a Moto OTA.
Who the hell cares? This should have been the 7.x update! Too little too late Lenovo.

Exactly! There's absolutely no excuse why the Pure hasn't been updated to Nougat especially since the phone uses a damn near vanilla Android! HTC 10 & LG G5 had theirs for over 2 months now & some Samsung S7/S7E has been getting theirs over the past few weeks. My wife regrets buying this phone now over the Nexus 6P last year & now can't wait to dump this phone for the upcoming Galaxy S8+.

We should all agree that Pure program by GG is a fail. GG initiated it with HTC, Moto... with Pure Edition and commit that they would be upgraded just after Nexus lines
You guys are missing the point.
Nougat 7.1 came out in December. In order to have a smooth update to 7.1, you need the pre requisites which is the security update

I understand your sentiment regarding the near vanilla, and I'm surprised Google didn't commit Lenovo to keeping the pure/style updated. Lenovo has given over to "standard business practices", which unfortunately means that the manufactures focus on updating their newest flagships first (Moto Z line, G5, GS7, HTC 10). This is nothing new and has been this way for a while. Once again, the rule applies: if you want the latest and greatest Android updates upon release buy a Google phone (Pixel). Aside from that I expect very little. If I want the latest and greatest, I turn to XDA and other sources for custom ROMs (which is nothing new for me).

thanks for this, it was driving me crazy that I kept getting promoted to do this, but the update doesn't work with twrp and/or unlocked bootloader. How did you extract the update to sideload it?

It'll be another 2-3 months to even get 7.0 and than no more updates. That's why **** motorola/lenovo nobody buy the G6 or G6 plus so they finally go out of business!
Sent from my XT1575 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
you don't extract it to sideload it ... you need to make sure you have original partitions (this will NOT apply to a modified system or boot), and then restore the factory recovery. Factory recovery has a sideload from ADB option.
If you have modified enough, you may have to backtrack to the last full system image (may 2016, I think it was), then do the sept update, followed by the dec update.
Those are available in other threads on XDA.
Guys there is any chance of volte update because jio expanding their services to next one year
Can it is possible that after nought update it is possible

why is it so difficult to apply a few security patches. at this point i'll wait for nougut. I've been eyeing a few of the nougut roms, but I see comments about stability and features not working.
do we need to relock the bootloader too? or just no root, stock partitions, and stock recovery?

Verizon Pixel XL stuck on 7.1.2 - I think?

Been reading all of the relevant threads.
Installed the latest Android Studio / SDK tools.
Verizon Pixel XL, Android 7.1.2, Build NHG47N, June 5 2017 Security Patch.
Bootloader is locked.
Every time I attempt to do an OTA update over WiFi (To Oreo 8.0), it downloads successfully, and then fails.
A locked Bootloader on a Verizon Pixel XL is a showstopper for flashing ANY version of Android from a computer - Correct?
If a Pixel XL won't install an OTA update after downloading, there's nothing that can be done to correct it - Correct?
I am... in a dead end? Correct?

Side loading ota and beta/preview builds should still work/I think/ but you should probably just request an RMA cuz Google seems to like to throw money at replacing these phones when they can and I'm pretty sure OTA failure is something they cover

VS995 updated to 20d security patch

I just received a security update to my LG V20. Does this mean android 9 is next?

Same here. I was shocked to see an update
I've been prompted but have not installed it. Some traffic on android central addressing this but it's weird. Version goes to vs99520d (from 20c) but for someone who installed it, the date did NOT change from 1 Oct 2018. One person was told by LG that this is their patch (Verizon tech support knows nothing about it and it is not on their web site) but I've spent a couple hours on the phone now with VZ and LG tech support and they have not been able to find anything at all related to this patch. Maybe it's perfectly fine but who put it out and what's in it?
androidcentral post is here https://forums.androidcentral.com/l...ity-update-my-verizon-lg-v20.html#post6847295
Did the security software version change. Mine is at version 4 not sure what it was before.
My security software version is MDF v2.0 Release 4 on VS99520c.

Mine is the same, the android central user was told (by LG) that it was a 'security patch' so he was comparing the date under 'Android security patch level' but maybe it's OK for that date to remain the same. At this point I'm more holding off because of being stubborn but I'll probably install it in the next day or two.
It's official Verizon is now showing it on there software update page for the LG V20.
If you update, can you keep root?
You can use the snoopsnitch app to see what the security patch is run the adnroid security patch tester and send a screenshot
So, just got a VS995 in the mail, unrooted. Which is the better root method:
The dirty Santa - https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/ls997vs995h910-dirtysanta-bootloader-t3519410
Or this flashable zip - https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/vs995-verizon-lg-v20-stock-oreo-rooted-t3845669

You need to use Dirty Santa to get unlocked bootloader then you can use zip file to flash oreo with root.
I was going to try to get root on VS99520d now that I have 3 V20's. Verizon is now claiming VS99520c is the latest. Using their software update utility VS99520c is all that is offered now. I do have a copy of what I believe are the OTA update files but God only know what to do with them. Hopefully WiFi calling now works on VS99520c now. This is the only reason I was interested in 20d in the first place.
Edit: I was just being impatient. I got the OTA update after about a half hour. I'm curious what the Verizon Update tool will say about this one "VZW Utility Application - LG"

Already updated to Android 12, now being asked if I want to update to 12 again

I have already updated to Android 12 but I just had a popup asking if I want to update to Android 12.
It is 1.69GB in size which from memory is the same size when I updated a few weeks ago.
What should I do next?
I will be testing that for you. I am already downloading the update and installing it.

Finished downloading. Installing now.
Strange, have the same updates, 1,88GB, I'll wait for you to check it out
Ditto here. please keep us updated.
At least it's not just me then
Thank god I found this, I was shocked to see the same update again. 1.69 GB for me, downloading now.
Same here, pixel 5 with android 12, asked to update again...
Nothing new, just verison changed to SP1A.211105.002.A1
same here ...pixel 4a 5g
Same here, Pixel 5 with android 12: it just asked to update again...
Mine installed ...
Previously : SP1A.211105.003
After : SP1A.211105.002.A1
According to their release details...
Pixel 4a 5G: Android 12 – SP1A.211105.003, SP1A.211105.002.A1 (Verizon, Verizon MVNO), SP1A.211105.004 (Telstra, Optus, Vodafone AU) – Factory image – OTA (2) (3)
Same here on a T-Mobile 4a 5G
Is there a way of asking Google directly what is going on?

Same here. Before the update I was at SP1A.211105.002. I went ahead and took the update (reluctantly, but to get rid of the notification nag) and everything seems to be working ok. Then I went on Google's site and this verson is listed as 12.0.0 (SP1A.211105.002.A1, Nov 2021, Verizon, Verizon MVNOs)
My phone is NOT Verizon.
UPDATE: I just flashed the 12.0.0 (SP1A.211105.002, Nov 2021) factory image and I'm now back to where I was. Everything is working fine. I just feel a whole lot better with a version that is NOT for Verizon. I sure hope Google gets this straightened out.
Now I've checked again and the update is gone. Maybe it's better?
Just saw this on Twitter. Google knows they goofed, but we may never know what actually happened.
https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1458595873705926656
Just checked my phone and the update is not appearing now.
Glitch at their end.

I've just recieved this update notice on my U11+

I checked my u11+ for updates (for a laugh) last week - nothing.
Today, there iss an update waiting which is 2.19.400.2 - the same as what's installed?
The only thing I can think of is that I tried installing TWRP once but if failed so left it for another time as thinking of the project treble updates.
Anyone else had this? What should I do?
Hi, I also received this update notification today.
I'm also holding off on the update for now as its been a while since the HTC U11 plus received any updates....
just received update notice 2.19.400.2, also holding, was thinking about pulling it out, but don't know how, am still pure raw unrooted.
I just received an update notice for 2.19.401.2 (502.4 MB).
Not enough for an OS increment. I'm waffling.
I just received this notification too.
But I'm reluctant to install it because I'm rooted, and it seems too large to be just a security patch.
I hope someone did not hack HTC's update servers !?
i recieved a similar message today has any one figured out whats up with this out of no where update?
my version is 2.19.401.2 which is the same installed version ..

Ecause you are rooted you .ay be able to safe the update and see if there's actually something new in there.
I am tinkering with my newly acquired U11+ and did many attempts to install a GSI and noticed the same update. The update didn't actually change anything for me as far as I can tell. Mine is a EU version with the last update: Pie, security update July 2019.
