Flashed a ROM and the ROM moved the all files in the root of my storage to a folder within a series of subfolders.
This is bad because my TWRP folder containing my backups was in the root of my storage.
But of course things can't just work how you'd expect, so my computer and phone refuse to copy the TWRP folder back to where it belongs.
My computer refuses to copy the files "data.ext4.win000"
There seems to be nothing I can do about this. My phone wont copy it and my computer won't either.
However, I am wondering if there is a way to make TWRP restore from a backup that is not where it belongs.
Whenever I go to restore, it doesn't give me an option to search elsewhere for my backups. Yet for some reason I am allowed to install a .zip from wherever I want.
Is there some sort of terminal command I can do within TWRP to make this work? Thank you.
Hi
I rooted and unlocked my one plus and then ran a backup for my EFS Partition using Terminal Emulator app. This created 2 files, modemst1.bin & modemst2.bin, which are on the root of my internal storage. I can see these files on my Root Browser on Phone. However I connected phone to PC and can only see internal storage. I have USB Debugging enabled and MTP. I also De-installed the drive and re-installed and still cannot see it. I tried different ports and also a different USB cable but still the same. I want to copy these files to my PC to have as back up
Anything else I should try?
Thanks
Are you able to see any other personal files/folders on your phone?
Don't have access at the moment but from memory it just showed folders like music, download. data, DCIM etc I think.
I was thinking if I could copy the files using file manager on the phone to one of the folders I can view then save these on my PC. That work? Would still like to know why I cannot see root files on my PC
Thanks

Yeah, I think you'll need to put them into one of the folders and then you should be able to see them using your PC. As to why this happens I have no idea though.

Do you know of any way to enable root viewing of the internal storage? So that I can just use Windows Explorer to view it?

Hello guys .
I just wanted to see if this is normal or maybe I'm having a hardware or software issue with my phone.
When I copy my files to my PC sometimes the copy is incomplete and the only way to copy all the files is going to twrp and copy or move the files. Also if I connect the phone and cut and paste the files from the PC to the phone some how it makes a copy of the files in the recycle bin. If I restore the files I can find them in the original folder so now i have a copy in my phone and one in my PC and don't know which is the original.
Just wanted to know if someone else is having this issue. I moved to lollipop and is the same.
Thanks.
I used to be able to do this with my Galaxy S5, though that was always on Windows 8, I'm on 10 now.
When I connect to my computer to find my backup folder it is just a blank white icon that is 0kb, but if I look at it with ES File Explorer I can see everything fine. I see no way to upload a folder through onedrive or drive and ES File Explorer won't let me share over 100 files. I have over 600 files in the backup and I don't want to have to manually select all of them.
What is going on? How can I back up my back up to my PC? All other files and such are easily accessible through the computer
Thanks
EDIT: Fixed, if anyone else is having this problem, create a folder from your computer, then move the TB folder into that folder that was created on the computer, and then it should be able to be copied from phone to computer
Hi, I'm preparing my device and data on it for a fresh ROM installation with this SamStock ROM.
Now I will "backup" my data on the internal SD to my laptop SSD and after installation the fresh ROM I have to recover the files to my S6 Edge.
My idea for the "file backup" is using the App "SSHelper" to connect to my device via SSH and make a rsync over all files in "/storage/emulated/0".
But what is the best way for a recover off my files now located on my laptop SSD?
I had made a rsync back to my device for 6 month (after another clean ROM installation) and all my file dates are tagged to this specific day and not the "right" day. The file dates on my laptop are correct. But after recovering the files to my device all dates are modified...
Is it possible to recover the files with the original file date?
Any ideas for a better way of a "device -> laptop -> device" procedure?
thx a lot in advance
