face unlock works for me. I always had it on. After update, its still on and functional.

I lost mine too, I thought it was due to my Exchange Policies at work but realized others were having issues after the update as well.

i wonder why its just us. Do you encrypt at startup?

Yes, I have require password at boot and it will decrypt once it's typed in. I had that set before the update and it worked then though.

Anyone with the face recognition issue do a factory reset yet to see if it fixes the issue?

This may not be the case for everyone but, I went to device administrators and removed my exchange policy for work and now face unlock works. I had it before, and it worked but maybe after the update something changed. Going to use the Nine email client again so I can use face unlock.

I came too exactly the same conclusion i hard reset my device and watched what did it. Exchange policy.

My faceunlock is greyed out, and permission monitor no longer works. smh att

Honor 8 fingerprint scanner

I have honor 8 for 2 weeks already and at the start the scanner was working just fine now it is acting weirdly(I haven't dropped it yet and I'm that water didn't go inside ), sometimes it work sometimes it does not, I tried to delete and add my finger print again and it didnt work anyways now I cannot even add it because it says to put more preasure at the scanner. I'm using eu version of the phone bought it of amazon (cannot link it "To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding!")
Weird i have no isseus at all i got mine last week too...EU version have you tried to factory reset? If it doesn't work you probably got a defective one and you will need to replace it with a new one

I don't really know why but It started working fine when I did factory reset gonna wait few days and see how it performs if it stops working again I will send it back, thanks for help!

I know what i will say will not solve your problem but it's better to know. I played a lot with this fingerprint sensor. The sensor itself it's fast, it's the EMUI who make it slow down a lot. If you will try to just touch your fingerprint sensor and take the finger VERY VERY FAST you will see that sometimes the phone will unlock but with a bit of delay. And if you will try to unlock the phone with the fingerprint sensor and lock it again for more times and are you doing this fast the phone sometimes will not unlock.
Back up all the data on your device then do a factory reset. That should fix the problem with your fingerprint scanner.

I think I gonna have to send it back to them to repair because when I installed few apps it started acting weird again.

Bro yesterday before I went to sleep what was the thing that made my phone run like **** last time and I remember it was unknown sources and now fingerprint works fast again

That shouldn't cause any problems. I have that feature enable on all my android devices and they work perfectly fine.

Factor rest is not solve your problem but try it once and after that you got same problem then you should have to replace your mobile.

Factory reset fixed my problem for a while, when I installed some apps it broke again

Chromecast issues

Has anyone else experienced issues using a chromecast with their honor 8?
It used to consistently work flawlessly with my Galaxy S5, but since I've switched casting has been very buggy.
Finding the chromecast is usualy the first issue, half the time when I go to cast no devices show up.
Mostly frustrating is after something is casting I lose volume control when I am outside that specific all. Before I could toggle the volume on my TV from any screen and it showed the slider along with the phone media and ringer volume. It also seems to disconnect from the chromecast quite a bit as well. Sometimes ending the cast, but usually I'll have to close the app and reconnect in order to be able to control it again.
I've tried factory resetting my chromecast and never used guest mode, not sure what's causing the problems.
Anyone know of any possible solutions?

I can't even get BBC iPlayer to cast so there is definitely some thing wrong.
Now TV just released an update that was ment to deal with the casting bug but still no casting !!

Yes mate it must be.
My phone is like a new phone today after resetting it.
All the bits that were not working are working again.
I'll try this week-end.

I made a back up before resetting, put it into my SD card.
From resetting to having everything back on took me about 30 mins it was easy and well worth the effort

you were totally right
everything is back to normal after a factory reset
and it didn't took too much time.
backed up apps with the honor software and it wasn't that long. just the apps not the settings to be sure to not recreate the problem if it was caused by another app.
thanks a lot.
i'll inform some guys in the french forum that had the same probelm

Does your volume control work as it should now?
I'm still having issues controlling volume from outside the app that is casting after a factory reset.

What the hell's up with this? It's been happening ever since I got the phone, gradually getting worse. Nowadays it doesn't let me write the two letters next to one another, period.

Ugh, I had the same problem.
I messed with all the settings, auto correct settings, i tried different keyboards, i tried changing languages, i tried hitting it, i tried telling at it, I tried clearing the cache on everything.
Nothing worked.
Nothing at all.
I HATE Huawei. Fix your damn bugs!
The ONLY solution, is a complete factory reset. There is nothing else you can do.

Afraid it's not limited to the keyboard. It's on a system level. Apps and whatnot with the words display them incorrectly.
This may be a common issue I reported in another post. If you have Google Gboard installed try uninstalling the update. It will revert to stock Google Keyboard. This fixed weird keyboard issues for me.

Well, you're SOL then, because a factory reset is your only option.
Trust me, I tried absolutely everything to get it to work. Nothing did.
You'll at minimum have to root it, which will involve a wipe anyway.
So save your stuff and take some time off in a weekend, or live with it.
Either way, I'm sure you'll be in the same boat as me when you say this will be the last Huawei I'll ever buy. These bugs are inexcusable, and going months whithout a fix is even worse.

Yeah. I'll do so over the weekend. It's just a pain having to backup all of my stuff.
I'll definitely be looking elsewhere for my next smartphone. As if the denial of releasing the kernel for the Honor 8 to get stable custom ROMs wasn't enough. Great phone otherwise. 'tis a shame.
Do you use the default font? I remember some theme here in XDA that has a bugged font. Didn't let me type "e" and "h" normally until I changed back to the default font

RMA, only fixable with new device. even downgrading to A10 didn't help, A11 beta seems to f+cked up something, got new device, A11 and face unlock works fine again

My face unlock works fine for the most part but every now and then I get this error. I reboot the phone and all works fine for a couple of days then it pops up again. I bought my phone from Carphone Warehouse so not sure where I stand.

Will most likely have more luck with Google. Not sure how well CPW online are for warranty claims, unless they are going to replace for a new unit I won't trust them.
I'm going to see if the new update works out before I speak to either of them. I rebooted yesterday after installing the October update so I will most likely find out tomorrow of it is resolved.

Question Faulty internet connection [Exynos]

Hello everyone,
I have an S22 Ultra updated to the latest firmware AVF5.
I am having an internet issue where every time I don't have Wi-Fi and turn on the screen internet will work for 40-60 seconds then stop working completely until I turn off and back on the mobile data.
In this time frame the phone has maximum reception and the '+' sign disappears from 4g+ icon.
Does anyone else have the same issue and know how to solve it?
Still haven't tried a factory backup.

Clear system cache.
A lot of people are recommending to clear the partition's cache to solve various issues, have you already gave it a try?
Edit: Seems like @blackhawk got the same idea a few seconds ahead of me.

You're welcome, let's hope it will be enough. I'm a little skeptical about considering it as the panacea, but it doesn't hurt to give it a try (it was reported to help for scrolling stuttering and other various things).

It never hurts to try it... unless you punch factory reset by mistake
I've seen it clear some bizarre problems like magic. After an update it's good to do out of habit. I clear mine about once a month, routine maintenance.
If those fail, ask your carrier to reset the connection on their end. Reboot.
No connection drops till now!
Unfortunately that didn't work... Any other ideas before a factory reset?

No that I know, maybe someone else will have a recommendation for that. But as far as we have been, I'm clueless about what would cause this dysfunction in your connection.

When it happens see if it shows at the top of the list in Device Care >memory, clear all apps.
If it happens soon after you cleared cache apps it makes it easy to spot if it shows here. I've found some nasty little buggers like this.
I would -really- try to find the root cause rather than do a reset. A factory reset may not correct it and even if it does, if it reoccurs... you're right back where you started.
This is one reason I don't update. Malware is less trouble to deal with

Try setting the following:
Settings-connections-wifi-advanced-switch to mobile data = on
Settings-connections-mobile networks-data roaming = on
