I saw a video of a guy who converted his "Galaxy S7: SM-G930V (Verizon) full converted into SM-G930F"
He provides detail as:
"* Based on Official Firmware: G930FXXU1BPJG (UAE)
* The latest baseband: G930FOJV1BPJK1
* Fixed all code: *#06# - *#0*# - *#0808#
* Multi-Languages: Supported 94 Languages
I'd like to convert my G930S to the 930F version as well, if it is actually feasible.
I'm putting together a recipe as follows:
G930FXXU1DQJ3 UK version 7.0 XEU version (Exynos), as I understand it is a generic, unbranded OS
I'm currently on rooted G930S stock 7.0, TWRP back up, and though everything seems just fine, I noted on rooting with ODIN I had to go through a Korean language setup afterwards, until I came to the language page, and then later putting in an english keyboard. I'd like to get rid of the Samsung apps and the T-(Mobile?) korean apps/Samsung bloat.
Order to flash:
1. Flash baseband G930AUCS4BQH1, 7.0 version US, clearing system, cache and data first?
2. Flash ROM
2. Flash CSC, I have AT&T service/derivative, I though I'd flash: CSC XAA, USA unbranded or
USC, USA unbranded
reboot into recovery and
3. flash SuperSU?
4. Reboot to system
I think I have that order correct. Any folks willing to add their insights will be appreciated.
Thank you.
The G930V is a completely different SoC, no way he made it anything other than a 930V that has faked the system information.

I put on an Exynos 8+ ROM on my G930S. The phone model now 'shows' it as a G955F, baseband remained unchanged, and the CSC, once Korean or Chinese, now shows conflicting info, from code input into phone, OXM, from System app reader, XAA. But the data region is still in the China area for data services. It remains a 930S at heart, unless I can change the baseband and CSC.
Interestingly, here on the US west coast my AT7T service is working just fine.
I'd like to figure out how to get the baseband and CSC aligned safely and correctly to the US (TMB CSC?).

You can try following to change csc and baseband:
1. When flashing firmware on odin, select re-partition.
2. Wipe data and cache.
Let me know if everything works fine.
Good luck. Your knox is still under warranty right?

Since there is no official Nougat release in the USA yet, I was planning on installing the "BTU" Nougat official firmware intended for the UK. Do I need to do anything with changing the CSC to use in the USA, or just flash everything as-is in the firmware download? I don't understand if the CSC change is REQUIRED to match the country you are using the phone in, or just recommended. The current Marshmallow build is showing a CSC of OJV (middle east)
What are you USA folks out there doing? I am on Straight Talk (AT&T sim).
My current phone is giving me a lot of problems, and I'd really appreciate a response as I need to get switched over to this S7 ASAP. I realize I can just use Marshmallow but am really hoping to get to Nougat so I don't have to reflash and potentially lose data down the road.
Thank you!
If the CSC you want to change to is not included in the CSC already on your phone, you'll need to use CSC of the new ROM (Not HOME_CSC) along with the other 3 sections, and check the "Repartition" option in PIT settings of ODIN
This will wipe your phone back to factory settings
Are you rooted?

He doesn't need to check repartition. Despite the fact that it is designed for downgrading and unbricking (exclusively, in most cases ), it is not required to do that if only CSC change is needed. Only thing he need to do is using CSC section of the ROM (not Home_CSC because it is preserving old settings in the phone, message to The Founder of the topic ).
Generally, when I was switching to BTU I flashed Firmware with CSC different that BTU (for example Sweden rom) and then flashed BTU sofware. CSC has changed flawlessly
And when you have rooted phone, you can change CSC manually. That extremely ease you effort.
i would just flash the firmware and the csc that comes with it because then you will get updates in the future. if the csc doesn't match the firmware you wont ever get updates so just do a samsung cloud backup and flash the nougat But its weird that someone in the usa doesn'ty have nougat because i thought usa was 1 of the first with nougat.
RiTCHiE007 is right. If you want to receive OTA updates, CSC must match with the type of firmware it comes from. That is why you need to change CSC from US to BTU. Here is a thread that will help you out providing explanation of the topic.
Hi, I have just bought a brand new galaxy S7, model SM-G930F.
Although it is an international model, it carries a snapdragon 820 processor.
I am told , that it is a USA model, built under Verizon.
SM-G930F is supposed to be a global model with exynos, does anyone knoes what is the phone I bought?
Anyway, my real problem is, that the "updates software" option is missing, in "about phone" list.
I am stuck in android 6.0.1
I checked it is not rooted and it must be a genuine phone.
Can anybody guide me through solutions?
I would really appreciate any help.
Thank you
Moving to general S7 Q&A since you say it's a SM-G930F.
Check the back of the phone and verify the phone model. You should be able to update through other options like Kies, unless they've changed that recently.

It's not a G930F if it has a Snapdragon processor
Commonly faked to look like G930F by editing firmware / stickers / model numbers etc, more likely to be the G930V if it's Verizon
Boot to download mode and check the model number in there, that's the only one that can not be faked
(Volume Down & Home & power)
And they likely removed the update option from settings to prevent any problems of the phone updating to either the wrong firmware, or removing their fake edits with a V update
Flash the proper firmware with ODIN 3.12.3 or newer from updato.com once you know your model S7
Galaxy s7 "updates software" option missing
Dear Durham,
Thanks for the help.
Yes, you are right; it is G930V.I have been tricked...
I have visited updato.com and found 12 variants of S7 firmware.
My bootlader version is - 6.0.1 November 20, 16 USA (Verizon) (VZW) G930VVRU4API3
Shall I download and install this one and afterwards make a manual software update or
shall I install the latest - 7.0 August 25, 17 USA (Verizon) (VZW) G930VVRS4BQH1 ?
After successful installation, will these firmware fake modifications( to G930F) disappear permanently?
I am much obliged
Thanks

The ROMs from updato.com are full ROMs so you can just flash the latest / newest one and you'll be 100% up to date once it boots
Use CSC and not HOME_CSC though as you are going to want to reset after the flash to clear any hacks from the previous ROM (This will wipe the device so backup any important files first)
CSC, AP, BL and CP
Yes this will permanently remove any modifications from the faked ROM
Wish me luck, I will give it a go!
You have been most informative, many thanks.

The good news is that the verizon edition can be rooted and is network unlocked from the factory so as long as ure carrier supports the bands it will still work for you on a side note flash the u firmware not verizon and u wont have any verizon bloatware out of the gate either
Mad scientist, thank you for your intervention.
Just to be clear, which firmware do you suggest me to install, not the verizon G930V?
Could I install the G930F for my country (Europe).
I thought they are incompatible...
As my bootloader version G930V I think I would better stick with the V version.
Are you suggesting not to upgrade to nougat and reinstall factory installed 6.0.1 and better wait for 8?
Yes you are right, I am not good at twiking. Will I have drain baterry issues with nougat?
Dear Durham,
Emergency help!!!!
I installed it succesfully but now it does not recognize my sim card, as it is from a non USA country.
Should I reflash a different firmware? F or U ?
I am from Greece
It seems to be working...
The Verizon logo appears upon starting the phone
But in language selection, there is only English and asian languages available.
Software update finally appeared.
In order to have my langage back, should I reflash with the U ( unlocked version) or the F (global)?
No mobile data.
Maybe I am calling through Verizon.Roaming.Expensive.Scarry...!!
He means that the G930U firmware will flash fine on the G930V, it is the same firmware but without the Verizon bloatware added
You can not flash any other firmwares, it just happens that those two are compatible with each other
Flash straight to the latest
So I shall flash the G930U?
Will my sim card be recognized and mobile data be active.
Nougat 7 or MM 6-your opinion, again?
thnks
No idea if your SIM will be recognised, but if it's not working with the V firmware it's worth a try
As I said, flash the latest firmware which is Nougat
Personally I would be contacting the seller and asking for a refund / exchange for a real G930F that you paid for
firmware
I tried, but he is not cooperative.
How about F version-it worked with it before ?
(only it was modified with the dissapearance of system update.)

No you cannot flash any other model firmware, that was NOT the G930F firmware, it was a hacked / faked U or V firmware
I think you better read a good few threads before going much further or you're going to end up with a brick
Contact the seller and request a refund
Don't suppose you can flash CSC files of the 930F on 930V?
Dear all,
Thank you for your help and interest in my problem.
This is indeed a great forum!!!
I tried to flash the F version, but thankfully odin stopped it from the beginning, presenting "failed" message.
I suppose if it continued, I would end up with a brick as Durham suggested.
Finally I flashed he U version, as mad scientist suggested, and up to now it works like a charm.
As Durham advised, I used CSC and not HOME_CSC and the hack was eliminated.
Sim card is recognized, no bloatware and mobile data working.
Let's hope it will continue like this...!!!
Only glitch, not everything is in my home language ( message icon name and in settings-the menu options-any idea how to fix it? - I removed english and left only my language as selection, but onle these remain untranslated)-small problem
I have learned a valuble lesson from my adventure.
Ebay, an organized platfrom may it be, it cannot control each individual's deceivals, so one must be extra wary when buyng from unofficial sources, nomatter good reviews from others...
Thanks again to you all for your help, I would be in serious position right now, if it weren't for you guys.
Hello
I bought an s8+ from HK which is the dual SIM Snapdragon version (G9550). Using it here in Australia, everything works as expected as it supports all of our bands, however VoLTE does not work. I've read this is because the CSC does not match a local CSC.
Unfortunately there are no Snapdragon versions sold here, hence no firmware with the Aus CSC (XSA) that will support VoLTE (as I read you can't flash the Exynos ROM onto the Snapdragon).
Is there any way I can enable VoLTE? Can I somehow change the CSC without an official ROM? Like go into the G9550 ROM and replace the CSC with the Aus CSC?
The only other region with the Snapdragon is the US from what I can tell, which probably wouldn't enable VoLTE either.
Any advice is appreciated
Thanks.

You may root and then flash your csc zip (or simply replace the CSC files in the custom rom with your CSC files). You should get VoLTE. Download Multi CSC file from here and extract your csc.
I do the same but with India CSC on USA snapdragon models.

Thanks nimms. This is pretty much exactly what I was after, except I cannot root the phone (work required Knox so I can't trip it ). I was hoping I could do somthing like the above, only via Odin, but it sounds like you can't change the CSC without rooting the phone due to making system changes.
Try this code in dialer *#272*imei# and change your csc from there

Hi
As far as I'm concerned, this is not possible without tripping the Knox counter. And if you try flashing the XSA CSC (via Odin), you will definitely soft brick your phone

Interesting.
Another question...the only difference I've noticed between the 9550 (HK) and 955U (US) is that the US version does not have Band 28 but the HK version does, which we do use here in Aus.
If I flashed a US firmware (which has the same S835 SoC), would I lose Band28, or would the modem still be able to use it?
EDIT: what if I only flashed the CP file (modem), is this interchangeable between the different SoCs? Could I flash the XSA CP (modem) onto another ROM, or will this soft-brick?

My IMS is saying "Not registered" in the about phone. I can't seem to do anything about it, and the hidden menu doesn't give me the option to change it.
IMS setting is located explicitly on "Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names"
The best bet you may try is to find a Samsung phone thats currently in VoLTE then copy IMS apn settings onto you phone (you manually input the settings).

It works well... No need to root n KNOX counter wont be tripped...
PS: Backup data.. They will be lost in the process.

Hello, I first bought my phone from Taiwan and the CSC was pointing to BRI(Taiwan) at first but now after flashing Germany's Oreo firmware by following the xda thread, it no longer shows anything in my avaliable CSC, I'm only getting CHO(Chile) and nothing else. Is there a possible fix? I also tried flashing Taiwans firmware for nougat but still ended up with CHO service provider.
Im trying to get back to stock Taiwan firmware because they now have oreo update and supports Samsung Pay while the Germany's firmware doesn't support at all.
Also I accidentally reset my phone with Canada's Sim card in while factory resetting once.
I've attached an image of my phone's CSC info
Any help is appreciated. Thank you
EDIT: another thing I noticed was my phone model changed from SM-G955FD to SM-G955F, is there any way to get it back to FD somehow? In my settings. About phone, it does say SM-G955FD still though
If you change the 'model' of your phone via a flash, you need to flash/change the CSC with the same 'model' of the OS you used.
If it seems a bit convoluted, I'd flash back to full OEM, and make sure that is all OK, and then flash the proper CSC package.

Firmwares for SM-G955F and SM-G955FD are IDENTICAL, your model number has not changed. To change CSC I had to install FW with new CSC, then do factory reset and after first boot I got prompted whether I want to change my CSC (based on inserted SIM card), confirmed, the phone did factory reset again and got new CSC installed. Also, Canada is not included within OXM multi-CSC package as G955F/FD is not sold there (or at least not officially).

Thank you both for your help. I'll try and flash just the CSC firmware then reset when samsung decides to push the OTA again and will see if that solves it. The firmware for Taiwan came out only a few days before they took it out so didn't have a chance to download it.
I have the G955FD on the BRI (Taiwan) firmware. I live in Australia, and really want to use Samsung pay. How should I change my CSC from BRI to XSA? I've seen varying information here and on other sites. I want to keep my Google Play as Certified, still have OTAs and without tripping KNOX. Essentially like a standard phone from this region. Hi mate
Without root there are not many options ..
First F and FD firmwares are compatibles ( same device!! exynos to exynos) , you can flash an F firmware into an FD or vice versa
you could try to change your CSC to your SIM card CSC first
Check here
On the thread it shows how to add your SIM CSC to your current CSC config , if it work you may end up with a configuration like BRI/BRI/XSA , in my case I got TPA/TPA/PCW , TPA was the software default and PCW sims CSC. I do not have Samsung pay so i do not know if that change will be enough to make it work. Back up you need to factory reset for this.
The other option is to flash a full XSA firmware ( use a G955F firmware) , read here how to do it
BACK UP before you do anything

The other option is to flash a full XSA firmware ( use a G955F firmware) , read here how to do it
BACK UP before you do anything

Thank you very much! I'm now running XSA/XSA/XSA with a flash. Dual-SIM support is still there which surprised me. There were some issues with Odin, but I fixed them up after a while.

Great news mate!!
Firmware is 100% same for F and FD so you should not see any difference at all , I asume also you got Samsung Pay working.
Good job!
I did the same when I had s8+. flashed TEL (Telstra) SM-G955F firmware which I got off Sammobile and worked like a treat. Samsung pay, VoLTE, Wifi Calling, Spam detection in calls worked as well.
I upgraded to S9+ and tried to do the same. The flash process works fine but CSC doesn't change. I am stuck on AFG CSC. Apparently it cant be done on S9 as Samsung is imposing multi CSC format.
Well, you are lucky one to have S8+. Enjoy

That's unfortunate
I'm curious why you flashed TEL instead of XSA, XSA is the unlocked version and it still has WiFi calling, VoLTE etc. I have an ALDImobile SIM (which uses Telstra) but I installed the unlocked version to have minimal bloatware and the stock boot logo.

I tried both. First preference is always XSA but I tried TEL in anticipation that it may work
