Is this possible? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Is there a way that I can carrier unlock an S8+ for free?
*currently on at&t*
+ Can i remove the at&t logo on booting up? I want to make this phone like it came directly from samsung.

I would like to know this also. I'm using it with Cricket but the signal is crap where I live. Id like to use it with Metro as it's strong in my area. I got the phone on a trade so there's a balance on it. I know there's unlock codes on the web you can buy for around $40-50 but not sure how legit they are.

[Q] I need help unlocking HTC Touch Pro2- Sprint to Verizon

My buddy gave me a brand new HTC Touch Pro2. He is on the Sprint network but I am on the Verizon network. I would like to unlock this phone and use it for verizon. I really need help with this and don't know how to do it. Can someone help me out ?
your friend wouldnt happen to this guy, would he? lol
anyway, technically theres nothing that needs to be done to "unlock" a sprint phone to use on verizon, but as a matter of policy verizon wont activated devices from a different network
well i have been told by several people that i have to unlock it. one of them actually use to work for verizon. but no that is not my friend lol.
Verizon checks the phone esn which is the cell phone equivalent of a vehicle's vin. They only allow their own phones on their network. There is no "unlock" needed, they simply won't do it and beyond faking the esn which is illegal, there is nothing you can do to get them to activate it.
actually there is a way, and some verizon reps also add esn to their bases, and yes you need a unlock code which only sprint will give, with which you can change some things, but i dont have detailed info, but ppcgeeks has some more info on it.
if you mean the MSL number you can get that using getSPC (although im not sure it would even be needed) but it still doesnt matter as its unlikely your going to get VZW to activate the phone unless you have a friend who can add the ESN, as a matter of policy they wont do it
So bottom line, can I or can I not do this. Is it impossible or what? . .
If so I am just going to sell this brand new phone and buy a verizon one.

Is it possible to flash from Boost to anything else? Sprint maybe?

Hi, My friend Joined Boost Mobile and they gave him an HTC One. He is not happy with Boost and is going to change carriers. He wants to know if he can flash his phone for another carrier like Sprint or Verizon or ATT or T-mobile or is he better off selling the phone on Ebay and getting a phone through his new carrier? Does this Boost phone even have a sim?? He says it doesn't.
Thanks for any input you can give.
HTC ONE?
unsatisfied?
boost is a CDMA carrier so no, it would not have a SIM
tell him I'll purchase it from him if he's serious about selling it.
flashing it to another carrier he would be limited to only CDMA carriers like Sprint or Verizon
AT&T is out of the question
and most likely whoever(if successful) he flashed the device to..... something would be broken
i.e. he might be able to get calls and text but would not be able to surf web without Wi-Fi or get mms.
unless he's a super developer/hacker it would be in his best interest to sell the device and buy another from a more satisfying carrier....(Verizon) is best in my opinion.......
let me know if he's up to selling to me, I'm not a cheapskate, but I'm not a moron either so keep the price fair..
#EDIT# are you sure it's not a HTC OneSV?
There is a guy who flashed a sprint Samsung S4 over to boost so he wouldn't be stuck on a contract lol. He was successful doing it. The guy posted a video on it over on YouTube. Pretty legit I thought .

You cannot buy them for use on Verizon. Straight talk is several different resellers. But verizon no. Verizon is a cdma carrier. AT&T and factory unlocked phones are GSM. For Verizon you'd need a Verizon phone or sprint phone.
People DONT sell fakes on Swappa as its not allowed.

Yes ill stick with att I know they work with st. As far as fakes not allowed we know people lie and cheat and not follow rules so is there some type of guarantee swappa makes that every phone is genuine? They wouldnt even answer my question about what happens when some one sells me thier in contract phone (wich at that point would have a clean imei) and then stops paying thier bill 3 months later and they block the phone? Wich is why I'm only looking at phones saying unlocked there again Noway to prove I guess. there's gotta be one thing to check or get pic of that proves its real

First off as I said above AT&T phones WONT work on Verizon, which is what you asked. Yes they will work on ST AT&T, ST T-Mobile, but will not work on ST Verizon. If you buy it expecting to be on Verizon's network you'll be disappointed. Straight talk is sold across several different networks.
Well if you'd read about Swappa when someone sells there phones they HAVE to enter an IMEI for one and in which will tell Swappa if it's on a paid account EDGE, NEXT, etc. and which is not allowed there.
The only thing that could possibly happen is if someone reports it stolen after selling and In which there's no way to find that out.
I have sold a ton of things on Swappa as well as buying on Swappa.
Also if you would look at a phone listing you would see they have Feedback, which I'm sure someone that has sold a few + phones with no issues I'm sure Your not going to buy a fake or junk phone.
There's no real thing or pic to prove anything. I could sell you a note 1 and make it say it's a note 4 in the software but just a screenshot you might not ever know lol.
Also a bit of a hint unlocked phones cannot save you from that unless your in another country. If you have a dead IMEI on say a T-Mobile phone even if it's unlocked you still cannot use it on AT&T

Thanks
Thanks for the info! I may not be explaining well I'm not going to verizon I'm wanting to use straight talk who advertises you can bring any GSM phone when I called was told att brand works best. I thought the other was verizon but like u said that's CDMA maybe t-mobile was the other compatible? Idk anyway I'm happy to hear about the contract phone not being issue I had read that could happen maybe it wasn't a payment issue after all. Maybe it had been reported stolen after he bought.

I'm pretty sure IMEI checks for ATT phones tell you nothing about the contract status of a phone, only if it's been blacklisted (lost or stolen)--
TMO phones OTOH will receive the additional information on EIP status, in-contract status, etc.
ATT should be forced to provide the same AFAIC.
You can use CDMA phones on Straight Talk. The kit you buy gives you the network info for CDMA phones and the SIM card for GSM.

Q: Which S7 to buy for Verizon?

I placed my preorder for my Gold S7 Verizon from BestBuy a few days ago and am now wondering if I shouldn't cancel that and try getting one from another carrier? I want to to be able to flash custom roms but we all know how Verizon is... Are there any other variants I can use? Thanks!
I am in the same boat as you. I have the Note 4 with locked bootloader and no root. My wife is up for an upgrade and her line is up in May. I want to get her the S7 for her upgrade, but the way Verizon and Samsung are, it's unbearable, but for her, it's no big deal, she just uses it as is. I want to see the phone in person, hopefully tonight I can before I pre order the gold one for her. I don't think she will really utilize the edge features, still feels like another year or Note 6 away from better use.
Can anyone chime in?

T-Mobile and I believe Sprint are the only carriers which don't make it a point to lock bootloaders; or at least give you the option to unlock. Since the Qualcomm S7 is not carrier specific you should be able to bring one from any carrier and use it on Verizon. However, im not sure if Verizon lets you bring your own phone (unless it's an approved Verizon phone). The s7 will be the same for carriers, but i wouldnt be surprised if Verizon installed some proprietary software on their s7's to distinguish it from other carriers. Meaning that any s7 not purchased from them would be unable to register on their network.
Really not sure though. I just know how they normally operate as I used to be a customer before switching to TMo.

Bought a phone, checked IMEI online was clean, phone unable to connect to sim card.

With my Bday money I purchased a A32 5g off of FBM for $140, bought a month of service, got the t-mobile sim delivered and popped it in and it did not work, called T-mobile and some foreign speaking sale associate who could not comprehend anything other then her preset phrases told me the phone imei was "blocked" even though the look ups say it is clean. Well I have no idea what to do about this other then to stalk the guy who insta blocked me after I asked him to unlock the IMEI, and was wondering if you guys would be able to help with my options. Also wondering if it may just be network locked? which I couldnt figure out which carrier it would of been used by, it did have the tmobile app installed tho. IDK..
Wouldnt mind doing roots or what ever to get it running, just not sure which direction to go.
An IMEI - what is comparable to a chassis number - can't get locked / unlocked

So that crosses out my thoughts of it being a sub branch like metro or something and network locked to only metro then?
