Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime not detecting T-Mobile USA 3G&4G bands. - Samsung Galaxy J7 Questions & Answers

Hi, I got a Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime off Amazon, problem is that I am currently in the USA & using a T-Mobile USA line, the device is unable to detect the carrier's 4G LTE or 3G Networks, it only picks up 2G (Edge) networks. I have switched sims a few times & toggled the 4G/3G/2G & 3G/2G auto connect options, but nothing seems to work. I was informed that perhaps the device is not compatible with this carrier. Does anyone have any experience with this issue? As I need fast internet on my phone & can't afford to purchase a new phone at this point.
Thank you

According to this Samsung SM-G610F Galaxy J7 Prime TD-LTE Compatibility on T-Mobile (United States) Mobile Network
you should be able to at least access 3g.
I don't know if its possible to change the LTE frequency band on the J7 Prime via Service Mode / Secrets Codes
Something like this Change Network Bands on Any Samsung Phone Without Root

*#0011*#, key input: Q 0000
Then navigate through the menus and look for bands and find t mobile bands

Hi, unfortunately, this didn't work, can you explain a bit more how I should do this?
Thanks.

If the codes don't work straight away, you'll need to enter Service mode.
How to do this on the J7 Prime?

Sorry for the delay, final projects for school are a pain.. I would start trying in a trial and error fashion, any and all dialer codes for your phone. BUT, u must be on stock for any to work. Find a guide and start punching buttons. Once you get into service mode, u will need to locate service bands and switch them to LTE that are within t mobiles service structure. Usually around 800 and up. I hope that helps. And good luck, I tried this for 2 months with a note 4 and couldn't get very far. If it's unlocked, sim and Carrier unlock, it should be easier. Also make sure the imei isn't blacklisted. Swappa allows u to check. All of these things must be done concurrently with the proper band selection. Good luck and just stick with it.i actually got mine switched from a sprint device to a t mobile, but unfortunately the device only works for 2 min increments due to a device financing block the previous owner had still. So it's sitting in my drawer of a smart phone graveyard

If you have root try this app

[HOW-TO] Fix LTE for International Model Note 3 (USA Carrier)

So something weird has been happening since purchasing my mint conditioned note 3 on Sprint. Every time I was inside my home, my note 3 would lose LTE and stay on 3g. I was looking for answers and not finding a single thing. I came up with a solution myself and here is where the explaining begins. Be careful when purchasing a phone online as some are international phones (which we know). I happened to purchase an n900p note 3 model and it was actually made in China but my signal radios were set to Japan. If you are in the USA and using Sprint then do the following:
-Download from the play store an app called Samsung phone info
-After the install is complete open the app and open the menu on the left side
-Select Secret Codes
-Scroll down to settings and select Launch 0
-Choose Phone Information
-In the upper right hand corner there are 3 dots, choose radio baseband and select USA from Japan
-Enjoy LTE

Are you rooted? Or on the default ROM for your device? The problem could be sprint uses CDMA not GSM, GSM is for devices without sim cards but I think is used on sprint for the sole purpose of emergency calls

true that sprint is a cdma carrier. but the n900p has all the gsm basebands which my carrier provides.
also phone has been internationally unlocked using sprint unlocker. (ssu.apk.)

baseband is nk4 and my imei number is shown which starts from 99.
so i think everything is pretty normal here.
i am just concerned about the phone not activating and it refuses to register to any network. i've tried 3 different indian carrier sim cards.

The phone might not be compatible with that specific carrier or you might have to take your sim card to the carrier and have them activate it but who knows.I took mine to Sprint and the guy asked me where I got the phone, I told him online. The problem with me having a Japan radio baseband set as default my LTE signal gets lost when I go in a building but when I'm outside, it picks back up again. If I switch the radio to USA I get 4g but then can't send/receive MMS. After a period of time on the USA baseband, it will completely lose signal and show up a black empty service in my status bar

Help! Tmobile Samsung S7 locked only on 1800 mhz band. Already rooted

Hi everyone.
Last time i was in xda forums was when i try to mod my windows mobile CE 5.0 lol
This is my sad story:
I bought in the US a samsung s7 with T-Mobile SM-G930T, i paid a guy who 'unlocked' it in there. After that i brought it to Colombia, in here i run the T-mobile unlock app which succeeded and erased itself after that. Then the cellphone started working with all the mobile companies in my country except for one that operates over 1800 mhz, other companies do work fine. When i insert a simcard of this company it just says that 'Not registered in network' and wont do nothing. I already tried to put the APN settings correctly (Actually it automatically loaded every company settings detected).
After that i tried to root with a modded Odin with a custom ROM and it succeeded and i got the SuperSU application, tho the cellphone its a little laggy now, but neither that way it worked. Anyone knows how where should i start looking?
I went to this company support and they sent me to Samsung support, which redirected me back to this company, lol
Thanks in advance guys
Update:
I have entered the service mode and enabled just the bands i need, also all the bands both in GSM and LTE but could not get it working
Also i tried to find the HiddenMenu file on /efs/carrier but its just not there.

I have a SM-G955N eveything works but Mobile Data will not connect

I have a SM-G955N Korean model I bought from eBay. Everything works except Mobile Data. I call ATT (my service) got connected with their Advance Division, and they not did help.
We tried setup a new connect under Access Point Names with no luck. I did notice that more ATT type APNs did add to the list of APNs, I tried each and powered off the phone each time, no luck.
My Wi-Fi works just not the Mobile Data. I typed in the Service Mode code which I got from another thread *#2683662#,(thanks XDA Developers), what I got looks like this:
MAIN MENU
[1] Protocol
[2] UE Setting & Information
[3] ETC
MOBILE: null
MOBILE_IMS: null
When I access The 1,2,3 pages I always get the MOBILE: null and MOBILE_IMS: null at the bottom of every page. My guess these are error codes.
Any help or ideas would be great.
Thank you.
Same here with 955n, null also but I have mobile data running. Lte it says instead of 4g i had on my 955f.

So yours works, Mobile Data, but you are seeing the MOBILE: null and MOBILE_IMS: null Both or just one?
I read that the seller of a Korean phone has to start it up with a Korean sim card and make a call for 5 minutes or the phone will not work out of their country.
I wonder if this is what happens? No Mobile Data connection.
same for EU phones - if you bought from EU you'd have to 'unlock' it first with an EU sim else it won't work
This guy can help:
Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/322518132661
He switched my S8+ from Tracfone to T-Mobile with all bands working w/ 4G LTE to the point one can't even tell this phone belonged to a different carrier than T-Mobile.
P.S. I had the same issue to where I could connect & surf the Internet with 4G but I was unable to make calls/texts. After he did his magic, which was remotely by the way, my phone got a new life. I bought his service four days ago and my phone is working phenomenally well so far. Give it a try guys.
Does anyone know of a way to unlock the T-Mobile bands on this phone? - the SM-G955N, Can it be done?
There are no clickable options when I access the service menu.

No problem. Hmm maybe you will have to do it through T Mobile? I recall that Doctorsim took a long time to work, but it was guaranteed for the phone to be unlocked. Also, did you purchase the premium?

On second thought maybe it cannot be done. I pulled this from a previous XDA thread. Source: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/help/ive-korean-model-s8-questions-t3590720
"*Since September 2013, Samsung has implemented a 'region lock' on all new stock.
For correct operation, this handset should be activated inside one of these countries with a SIM card issued for use there. The device will then be able to accept SIM cards from outside of these countries.
Activation requires turning the device on for the first time & completing set-up with the SIM installed, then completing at least 5 minutes of voice call(s) with this SIM.
Without activation you may still use the device outside of these countries when 'roaming' - using a SIM card from the listed countries.
If this activation procedure is not followed then the device will lock when first attempted to be used with a SIM card from outside of these regions. Local Samsung support may provide a code to unlock such handsets.
**All member states of the E.E.A and the following additional territories: Albania, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (F.Y.R.O.M), Monaco, Montenegro, San Marino, Serbia and Vatican City.
From what i understand you might need a sim from Korea to activate it once activated it will work worldwide with any sim card. i could be wrong but that’s how i think it works!"
Another user stated that "Confirmed I had to have my SM-955N unlocked and used in Korea before shipping. Also have the KT logo. Back is actually less busy than other versions without all the FCC, CE etc logos."
Thanks for the help with this!
I am considering mailing the phone to Korea to have someone there do the sim card activation.
But before I do this I want to make sure I understand the lock issue.
The phone does not actually give me a "LOCKED" message, and it partially works T-Mobile, it just does not pickup all the LTE bands, so it only has a connection about 50% of the time. Tmobile recently changed their bands, a month and a half ago it was working perfectly. The main goal is to turn on the locked bands.
If I'm understanding correctly if I take the phone to Korea, use a sim card from there on it, and make calls, then I go back to T-Mobile it will trigger the unlock mesage, which will allow me to access the LTE bands in *#2683662#??
Have you solved this yet?

Just curious if you found a solution to this yet?
I read all the posts about how a phone branded and bought in Korea needs to be on a Korean simcard for at least 5 min or so before it will accept any other (non-Korean) simcards.
So since I was based in Korea I bought the S8+ (SM-G955N - 128GB/6GB version) in Korea as soon as it was launched in April 2017 and used it with my Korean telecom provider (KT Telecom) for over half a year. In that period, while travelling outside Korea, roaming on LTE in different countries was never a problem.
Recently, I have moved from Korea (to Europe) and got a local simcard (Vodafone - NL). I can get on my provider's network, receive/send calls/sms, etc. No problem, but no LTE! Only some 3G/Edge!
I tried the 'service menu' with *#2683662#, access is possible but it gave back the same:
ServiceMode
Not supported
Mobile: null
Mobile_IMS: null
So first I thought it was related to KT Telecom how their GiGA LTE technology is somehow dependent on the use of a KT Telecom simcard with the KT Telecom network and basically without the KT Telecom simcard, basic LTE functionality would stop.
So I am reading through the different internet forums and advice from other users, but as far as I can tell, I don't think there is any other solution for me then to flash my phone with a less 'Korean-ized' stock firmware and hope this will resolve my problem.
Since, technically my phone is still under warranty, I am a bit taken back with all the extensive 'liability waivers' and step-by-step instructions. Rooting and flashing my phone is my last resort option.
I am just wondering if there are any other SM-G955N users out there who encountered the same problem and made some progress in any other way. Any feedback or comment is mostly appreciated.
I picked up a Korean G930S that had Chinese CSC, and I put an F ROM onto it. The CSC did not change. Here in the US the Chinese CSC worked just fine on the AT&T service getting 4G/LTE. I flashed an XAA CSC (probably not the correct one now that I think about it), which would not connect up.
I restored the phone back to the F ROM/Chinese CSC setup and don't worry about it at this point.
As I understand so far, what ever phone 'ROM version' you have is the CSC you will need to flash, meaning if you have an F ROM for example, you'd need to flash a CSC package that is 'made' for F ROM's. My 8+ went from an International 8+ 955F to look like and ROM function as a Note 8,so I needed a Note 8 CSC if I cared to have that 'match' more specifically to my local carrier, AT&T.
I can't say that the XAA Note 8 CSC works any better than the original 955F International CSC with AT&T, or not.
For my 8+ F, I flashed a Note 8 ROM, and wanted to find a Note 8 CSC (US) package for the phone, as I wanted the CSC to match where I live.
It wasn't really necessary, as the phone had an F (International unlocked CSC sorta thing stock on it) whick worked just fine here in the US. Never the less, I found the correct Note 8 CSC and set that up correctly with an XAA CSC, and it works just fine, as well.

I have family members visiting from Korea, and they have the same phones. I was trying to set them up with US Mobile which is a T-Mobile's MVNO. So initially, I've faced the same issue as you, where I was only getting the voice calls working and no data. I was able to download an app called Force 4G LTE from the app store that let me change the radio network setting to LTE Only (or other options that include the LTE band). That fixed the data issue and I was getting LTE from that point.
The next problem I ran into, however, was the voice. When LTE is on and working I was no longer getting voice calls (both outbound and inbound). And when I switch it to some non-LTE radio band to turn on the 'Edge' signal back, voice worked again. I chatted with a US Mobile's service representative for a while to try to fix the issue -- in the process also tried turning off HD Voice / VoLTE option -- VoLTE wasn't working for me anyways since I am not using T-mobile's service directly. But that didn't resolve the issue either. After many different tries -- I had to eventually just give up and tell the family member to stick to internet calling for their duration of the visit.
The problem seemed to be that the phone couldn't simultaneously use LTE for data and Edge for voice and was connecting to either LTE or Edge for both.
I'm curious about this as my Korean Note 8 did not need local activation, and with all the research I found Korean models are never SIM or carrier locked and do not require regional SIM activation like the F variants.
As far as using a 935N on tmobile in the USA as long as it supports LTE bands 2,4 and 12 it should work fine. Out of the box my Note 950N worked on LTE and by manually enabling IMS and RCS in the IMS Settings app, VoLTE worked too.
I have since created a CSC patch that changes the CSC to T-mobile to make the phone features more applicable, and add T-mobile's wifi calling but I'm fairly sure the S8+ is basically the same hardware as a Note 8 so if all you need is LTE data and voice calling you shouldn't need to flash anything.
To correct a misinformation about CSC per device, they are not platform specific. My T-mobile patch uses a mostly stock 950U T-mobile CSC base, and I can tell you that there is nothing in the CSCs themselves that has anything to do with Exynos or Snapdragon.
I have the same problem

S9+ Exynos on T-Mobile US Journey.

Just received my S9+ 256GB Korean Variant SM-G965N. This is going to be my experience with this particular variant and its compatibility with the T-Mobile network. Currently it shows I'm connected to Band 2 LTE but the speeds I'm my area are very slow. Withing the next couple days I'm am going to test the network throughout my area in Cali and test speeds and connectivity and report back. Unfortunately the build of Samsung pay is customized for S.korea only and not compatible here in the US.
Current build after first update is G965NKOU1ARC7
Baseband versions G965NKOU1ARC4
I have some data speeds this afternoon while out driving. The long screenshot is from my G965 and the short list of from a T-Mobile variant S7 . Connection to the network itself has been stable with no notice of dead spots or issues switching towers, if anything I'd say the switch is faster from what I've notice between devices.
Excellent...a lot of us have been waiting for this...thanks for testing...
I was curious about this. I have a G965U1(S9+ Unlocked North America variant).
I have a second phone with Ting GSM(T-Mobile), and I tried a few speed test. The phone configured it self to send calls over wifi when ever I connect to wifi. I found that peering with Sprint appears to be an issue.

Hey guys,
I also got an international S9+ (SM-G965F) but from Germany Unlocked (DBT). So far the signal seems to be great. Will post some Speedtests later. The only downside is that wifi calling and VoLTE is not there. It was working with my German sim. Other than that it's been great.

Have you flashed T-Mobile CSC? I assume you have to root and make a custom zip to flash the files. If the phone thinks it's a legitimate T-Mobile phone then it give you full speeds.
Also is the Korean phone a duos? Dual SIM?

I dont think that is possible. Isn't the Korean version run on Exynos? Flashing a Snapdragon CSC for TMB would be wonderful but I think would mess lots of thinks up. Hopefully someone will be able to change the CSC to work on the exynos processor.
Okay so the weirdest thing happened to me. I tried to use Samsung pay a few days ago. I used app cloner to copy the working version of my note 8 snapdragon and sent it to my S9+. It didn't work and gave me the connection error. Now I was just on the phone and out of boredom I tried to open Samsung pay again while on the phone and it magically worked. It asked me for my Iris and fingerprint and I was able to add my cards again. Again, this is on exynos DBT from Germany without any modifications or OEM unlock.
Hope this will help at least with Samsung pay.

I have a friend that works at Sammy S. Korea that picked it up for me, as for Samsung pay the apk is specifically built for the Korean market and has a different activation process which requires a text from one of the local carrier networks which I cant bypass.

The build is completely different and won't work because of the region and coding in this software build. I am not ready to root yet so I'm going to tinker with software that's official and see what I can get working, improve on for now.

Hey guys,
I also got an international S9+ (SM-G965F) but from Germany Unlocked (DBT). So far the signal seems to be great. Will post some Speedtests later. The only downside is that wifi calling and VoLTE is not there. It was working with my German sim. Other than that it's been great.

What operator do you use, I am at T-Mobile with a 695F and it does not connect at 4G.
Anyone has a clue?

Not really. I'm also on T-Mobile USA and have the German exynos. The apn settings were loaded correctly. Maybe check them in the settings and make sure it's set correctly. The only thing that is not working is VoLTE and wifi calling.
Samsung pay finally works with the credit cards but the membership doesn't work.

ow did you do the initial setup with or without the T-Mobile sim inserted ? I noticed when I originally set my Korean variant up without the sim, for some reason I did not connect to LTE in my area and after oem unlock and restart/ full wipe it connected perfectly since.
I've got the same model, I'm with ATT, speed test shows 31m down and 10m up, but actual downland from play store is less than 2m...
Hi do you receive benefits in your samsung members app?
Yes if we can get T-Mobile CSC settings to enable VoLTE and Wifi calling then I will root.
I am recently realizing Samsung Pay is not everything it's cracked up to be. It doesn't seem like they have many 3rd party companies registered, so I made a custom loyalty with the barcode, but it doesn't work when it's scanned at checkout. Funnily enough, I have the loyalty in GPay as well, and it works just fine. Also SPay doesn't seem to work in gas station cc readers where you stick the card in and pull it out instead of swipe. Unfortunately it just doesn't seem like the technology is there yet where we can ditch traditional cards.

Question galaxy s21+unlocked(sd888) lte CA not config 0 0

I bought unlocked galaxy s21+ on samsung.com . I got the phone and I was so happy and i check everything like screen/benchmark test ... and everything was perfect. I currently live in Korea, and i brought this phone with me since there was no defect at all. I open the my cellular with KT which uses 8(900mhz) and 3(1800mhz) lte bands and the main band is 3
The problem starts here, when i was in U.S, lte+ which is enhanced lte, was working perfect through at&t, but in Korea it wont show lte+ and i did a little research and found out that my Carrier aggregation- CA- is not open? working? whatever its not working. found some ways to use it which was installing a korean s21+ firmware but ofc its not gonna fix the problem cuz U.S is sd888 and Korea is exy2100. SO i found a another way that is using a *#27663368378# but enter that number it says "undefined additional service. Contact customer centre"
damn please help me using LTE+. in living with a speed between 5~30mbps
let me know, how that works out. I have the same phone but in europe. It says lte on my phone but the speed is halved to what i get on other devices.
