How to re-connect apps to Google Play after restore through Titanium Backup? - General Questions and Answers

I backed up my Apps with Titanium Backup and restored them on another ROM - worked fine so far.
But all apps are not connected to Google Play anymore so I will not get any update notifications. They are recognized as installed when I search and open the shop's site of each app, but do not appear in "My apps".
Only updateable apps will be added to the list after updating but I have to search manually.
Is there a way to bulk-reconnect all apps?

[Q] TweakStock: MUST I factory-reset?

I'd like to install TweakStock, but I've had my Charge since July, and I've of course got a ton of apps on it - including a lot of mobile Authenticators which are of course impossible to reinstall (you've got to remove Auth from the account it's attached to and then re-attach a new install. PITA!).
So... Do I HAVE to factory reset? What's the technical reason for even recommending reset? OTA updates don't...
Changes to the framework, systemui, and other system files can cause things to really not play nice if you don't wipe. Random FC's, random lagginess, and general sluggishness can come out of not wiping.
Are the authenticators part of apps? If so, Titanium Backup should be able to back them up. You just root with superuser without losing anything, and then you can run TiBu or any other root backup app you want from there.
I'll look into TitaniumBackup then. I'm already rooted, but I'm reading that TweakStock is fairly awesome, so... Thinking of installing it.
Yeah - Authenticator apps. Google Authenticator, Paypal auth, SWTOR mobile Authenticator... etc. You can't really reinstall them; you'd have to remove authentication from the account, and then re-attach, it's a pain in the butt.
I'll look into TiBu... Thanks!
I use the Google Authenticator and backed it up via Titanium Backup. I've wiped and reloaded, restored Google Authenticator from the backups via Titanium Backup and sure enough, I open the app and the accounts it was setup are still there.
The reason is that not only does Titanium Backup backup the app itself but also any data that's associated with the app. So, you can even backup where you are in Angry Birds and restore that later. I use Angry Birds and Google Authenticator as examples of apps that Titanium Backup is great at backing up and restoring.
So that potentially means one less detach and reattach for an "authenticator" for you.

I'm in the restore phase as we speak! We'll see if all is well.
100% success. I used Odin to install TS - which DOES do a reset as part of it. Restored with TiBu. All is well. <3.

use the freeze function to stop the app.

[Q] Will TiBu be able to restore data to apps synced from Play Store?

Let's say I do a clean flash of a ROM and check the option to backup everything and restore everything from Google in the set up. When all the apps install from the Play Store automatically, could I open TiBu and Restore all apps with data>Data only? I'm asking this because I remember doing this but I can't quite remember if it worked or not. Last time I heard, Google Play doesn't really sync all app data to preserve game progress, settings, etc in apps.

[Q] Confused by Titanium Backup Pro, can't restore apps

I hope this is the right forum, I am on an OPO.
Just clean installed new Blisspop and Gapps. Downloaded and installed Ti Backup Pro.
Previously I had batch backed up my apps to an external flash drive by setting the backup directory.
Under filter settings everything is set to "All".
When I scroll down the list, at the bottom I see my backed up apps crossed out in grey.
Clicking on "Menu", I can see "Verify all your backups" at the top and it lists 55. I click on it and Ti verifies my backups.
Scrolling down to "Restore", when I look at "Restore missing apps with data", it lists 0.
"Restore all apps with data" lists 2. When I click on that, it shows me only "Titanium Backup Pro" and "Trebuchet 1.0"
So how do I restore the apps I've backed up? There's probably something obvious I'm missing completely
I realized the reason the apps are crossed out in Ti is because Ti only has a backup of the apps' data, not the actual app.
If I installed the app, TI shows it as restoreable.
I suppose I must've selected the wrong backup option where TI only backed up the data and not the app, or is this actually normal?
I swear I've backed up apps + data before.
My Ti Backup Pro doesn't seem to be backing up apps, only the apps' data. Can someone help me out? Not sure what I did wrong as there is only that option to batch backup apps.

What's up with Google Backup

Hey all!
So I've set Google Backup on and left it to sync for 24 hours, then signed out, side loaded the Nougat OTA, reset and erase and wiped the cache partition, then signed back in and no settings nor apps or anything downloaded even though I asked Google setup to pull from a backup.
I'll be rooting the Nexus 6P soon, but for non rooted handsets, what are people using to backup and restore? Or what methods if they're just using the Google Backup sync process?

What gets backed up with Android Backup Service
Google Calendar settings
Wi-Fi networks & passwords
Home screen wallpapers
Gmail settings
Apps installed through Google Play (backed up on the Play Store app)
Display settings (Brightness & Sleep)
Language & Input settings
Date & Time
Third-party app settings & data (varies by app)
From this I can say that none of your app data (e.g. game data) is backed up and none of your apps are too, instead a list is created so that when you set up your device you can choose to download your apps again.

Thanks so much Nandini!
Do you know how long this "backup" should take, assuming spmeone has a good conndction?
Google gives facility to backup your photos and videos easily, now users can backup their important data as well as automatically synchronize with storage data.
