I have no weather showing up on the home screen (just the date), stock launcher. Anyone else?

Nothing worked... Toggled everything to do with weather. Finally reset feed preferences and it WORKED, showed immediately.

I’m at my wits end here, so I’m willing to do this. What happens when you reset this? Do you have to reconfigure all your notifications, what you follow, sports, preferences and whatnot?

I can't figure out how to reset the feed preferences, but I did get the weather working. Here is what I did.
Enable both of the weather options ("Weather updates" and "Weather updates for your location"),.
Exit the settings.
Return and disable both of the weather options.
Exit the settings, and then return to check — mine had been 'magically' turned on again, so repeat until the settings really are turned off.
Finally return and turn on the weather options. It to a couple of seconds before the weather showed.
Remember that you need internet access.

The stock weather widget never auto-refreshes even though I have that option checked.
Figure there's nothing I can do about it but use another widget, just wanted to note it here so others know they are not alone with this issue.
what checkbox? touch the widget to bring up the app. then do menu>settings. now choose auto refresh. mine is set to one hour and is working fine.

OK, so it's a radio button instead of a checkbox
I have it set to auto-refresh every hour and it doesn't work for me.
Good to know it works for someone though..
do you have auto sync and background data turned on?

Yes, it's on.
So I noticed today it is refreshing against the current location however the location is not changing as I move around. Is that what you are saying?
My stock (accuweather) app is also auto-refreshing. I've never had a problem with it.
But my stock news (ap mobile) only just tonight started to auto-refresh. Right after I changed it from 5-second auto-scroll to 10-second auto-scroll. And while now it auto-refreshes, it no longer auto-scrolls.
Both apps have always been set to auto refresh.
I have the same issue on my original GSII. I've removed a lot of stock apps (safe ones, of course). But perhaps one contributes to/interacts with the refresh in some way? Any ideas?
Hey,
Has anyone encountered an issue where the Always On Display in calendar mode shows the wrong date. Its ok in clock mode? The day in calendar mode is about 5 days ago!
Thanks in advance.
Figured it out. You probably need to tweak the settings in Samsung Calendar. Lock the timezone... started working for me. Then I disabled the app again... so I'll see if it persists even with the app disabled.

I don't really care about AOD but it works fine on my phone, no errors!
So I've searched for this issue with no results. This morning right in front of my eyes my settings icon (the gear) disappeared. So now I have no way that I know of to set volume or screen brightness or anything else that is accessible from the settings app. I'm pretty sure that I'm on current software, but since that information is accessed through the settings app as well, I can't say that for sure. I've tried the basics. Multiple reboots and I've tried to reset through recovery, but I'm not seeing the option in the list. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

There is a widget with settings, and there is the app list. Did it disappear from both?

Yup. From both. The widget is where I watched it disappear from. And it was no longer in the app list. Neither on my Gear nor my phone. Also if you swipe down from the top of the main Gear screen you also get some settings options. Volume and brightness being two. The icons were still there, but tapping those no longer took me to the settings.
For a few week I've not been receiving push notifications for Messenger and a couple of other apps, I've tried clearing cache, reinstalling, upgraded to beta firmware, factory reset to normal firmware, checked every power saving and notification settings I can find and I'm getting no where. I have avast and malwarebytes installed but have tried 24 hours without them.
I've noticed if I wake the phone and see the icon in the edge panel or from the app tray the app seems to wake and sometimes pushes through notifications. Very frustrating!
Anyone got any ideas?

Check the notification setting inside the apps
& check which apps can read and control your notifications in Notifications Access Setting
:good:
I have the exact same problem and none of these settings helped me. Do you think that it is an app-related problem?

In order to get app notifications , you must give app permissions to auto start. Otherwise you only will get notifications when app running .

I found that in notifications access setting, 'notification' was disabled, I've allowed this and will see how I get on tomorrow.
Today I had 50 outlook email notifications come through all at once... Phone blew up like Beyonce!
It's crazy this is happening, really puts me off the S8 plus.
Thanks for the help

Where can I find the auto start settings? Google is not fruitful on this one
Cheers!
Still not getting notifications for messenger. Does anyone know where the setting to allow messenger to auto start is.
I'm convinced it's some sort of aggressive power management feature.

Check the screen shots .
If didn't understand then reinstall the app and give all access include auto run tick when system ask.

I found the area where permissions are granted. Settings>Apps> {Appname}> scroll down to "Permissions" > tap the three dots at top right corner> tap "All permissions". This gets me to an area where it shows all of the available permissions to assign the this app. I do not see an "autostart" or anything similar.
So I've noticed since upgrading to Pie, when using the quick toggle switches, the wrong item is displayed at the bottom of the screen. If I was to click the wifi toggle, it will say mobile data enabled at the bottom of the screen. If I was to click the wifi toggle off, it says wifi enabled at the bottom. I'm 110% stock (Verizon version ?) thoughts?

I don't remember seeing this, but do you use any themes? If yes, try to remove the theme and see how it is without it

My phone is 110% stock. Even the wallpaper comes from the preloaded ones
Gotta be an app you have installed. I just reset to most recent stock 9 a few days ago and don't even get toast notifications when using the quick settings.

I can't figure it out for the life of me. I think you are on your way something tho, either an app or a setting. None of the other toggles show a toast notification. Don't wanna factory reset, might just have to tho
Mine keeps enabling "Night Mode" to "Always on" all by itself. I set it to "Always off" and it turns itself back on again after just a few minutes.
Weird stuff going on.
I may just start going through system apps and clearing cache and see what happens.

That I believe is because you have night mode turned on in the messages app, or any other Google app that has a dark mode setting. The night mode setting in developer options I've noticed, doesn't really matter. When I use Android auto, it switches between day and night on its own. Now if I pick up my device and use it while it is still plugged into my car, and I open messages which I have dark mode enabled, it will switch Android auto to dark. And I would have to unplug the USB and plug it back in. Hope that helps

You're absolutely right. The night mode setting for the notification pull down follows the setting in the Messages app ... which I had turned on.
Thanks! That was driving me nuts.
