In Mediatek powered phones, splash logo resides on a separate partition called logo. You have to flash your logo.img/logo.bin to that partition. The logo.img you see in /cust folder is likely just a backup.

This partition isn't accessible or usable by the user once the system has been initiated.

alright i saw some guide on some wordpress website to go to TWRP make boot partition backup , then to move that bacup to some folder i can access from pc ,alter logo , and put it back to original place + use that backup . Now im stuck before splash screen logo because phone can't load that logo and he is just rebooting after 10 sec or so . Only thing i managed to access is fastboot. Problem is i can't find any rom for my devices with .img format files so i can't rly flash them. Do you maybe have some idea ?

You just need to do more searches.
Huawei Stock roms come in update.app format. It's a compressed file that contains all the img files (boot.img, recovery.img, system.img, logo.img, cache.img etc). There is already a thread to unpack such file and extract the img files. The tool is available here.
Now, once you get your logo.img, you can use dd in adb or terminal to flash it. This is not intended for normal users. I wouldn't advice it.
And no, you cannot use another phone's logo.img/logo.bin in your phone even if it's from another huawei.

Hello all,
Firs I like to apologies if I've posted in the wrong section of the forum.
As the title says, I have a Iglo A101 with GingerBread 2.3.4 phone and I accidently deleted the system/bin/sh file.
I was searching for a2sd and I downloaded it, but when running it, instead of pressing 1 - "install a2sd" I pressed 2 "uninstall a2sd", by mistake, and by the time I realized the sh file was deleted. Now the phone is no longer rooted and can't be rooted and also my Wi-Fi doesn't work anymore.
I've search the net for answer but I can't find a solution to this type of phone.
Could someone help me fix this or at least get the Wi-Fi working again?
Thanks in advanced...
OK, I've manage to contact the retailer and he gave me what appears to be the all system files, as now I have a rar containg system.img userdata.img recovery.img etc etc. How do I install this files, because he doesn't appear to know either. I tried from the recovery mode using install update.zip from sdcard but it give's me invalid OTA package and I can't find an answer on how to flash a img file from recovery mode...

Does the device have fastboot? If so the files need to flashed using fastboot. The command is fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot flash system system.img.
If your device does not have fastboot then you will need to extract the system.img and make a flashable .zip so you can flash through CWM or whatever your recovery is. If you are using stock recovery then I eexpect you will either need to find a solution or send it off for repair. I will have a look into helping you get your device back up and running but I cant promise to succeed. Give me a few days and I will report back with any solutions or info to get you on your way to fixing your device.

hi
i had similar problem on this device a101 i did not delete any folder but by rooting the device my wifi and Bluetooth stoped working.i solved the problem by the factory menu.....have you tried it?
i did factory reset, but since there a system file missing it doesn't solve it..Can't there be a way to create an update.zip package with the sh file and then apply like an update from recovery? I've been trying to understand what does invalid OTA package mean, I think if that would be solved then I could easily put the file back...
i think you need spb launcher
i have to admit i used it only ones before for china 5388 there i needed com + usb cable here you need just a normal cable us the boot on this phone is different i have all you need give me email i will send to you. i have scater for a101 file too.i never used it but i have.Us i said my phone work ok after reset from factory mode
still nothing?

Hi,
As the title suggests I'm looking for the original firmware of the Alcatel OT 4033D because, after I bricked mine, I can't find a working ROM for my phone (I've tried various ROM for MT6572 processor and Android 4.2.2 but I don't read the SD card and the SIM (Although setting the correct IMEI))
If someone is own this device could make me a dump? I just need the file "system.img", the others I already have.
PS: It's okay if it's not the file .Img but the zip of the partition with the files contained in /system
Thanks in advance to who answers C:

Can u tell me how did u installed CWM? I can't find the compatible image..
Or, if u want, can u upload it? So I'll do a backup and I'll upload it! TY

I've installed CWM 5 ad I did a nandroid backup.. It's 1.6GB ( uncompressed ).. So, I'll begin to upload it 31 night (GMT+1) splitted in parts in MEGA or MediaFire.
If someone can test it is better, but it should work!

Thank you for that n1osbb2;51494733.
I also have a bricked one, it gets stuck at animation. I can boot into stock recovery.
Can someone tell me what I need to do to fix it?
Another idea is if we could change the firmware version number to something lower, then the Alacatel "Mobile Upgrade S" would be essentially forced to overwrite it. Right now it sees my phone's version as up to date and stops there.
So... Is it at all possible to alter the firware version number on the phone?
edit
n1osbb2, could you please take a backup with MTK Droid Root & Tools as well?
You can find it here under Android Software and Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hi, the backup by MTK droid tools fails everytime, I'm trying to debug the error.. If I have sucess I'll upload it.
BTW you can try another methods:
-Flash the CWM using MTK droid tools ( if you want the modified recovery, img I can upload it, or if u want MTK generates the img automatically: there is a guide on google; and then you can flash my backup without user data trought the CWM
If u want CWM make adb works, so you can do a backup of your firmware in order to can come back in the prevoiuos situation if it's needed
OR
-Using the latest version of SP flash tools, u can flash the system.img that u can find in my CWM backup. The latest version have no bugs with the generation of the scatter file, so it could work, but I'm not sure
Sorry for my bad english, I hope you understand..
Let me know if one of this methods works, thank you!

Is the modified recovery.img not the one included in the zip you uploaded?
Re the second option, there is no system.img inside - that's the reason I asked for a MTK Droid Root & Tools backup.
The contents of your zip are these:
Code:
.android_secure.vfat.tar
boot.img
cache.ext4.tar
recovery.img
system.ext4.tar

I confused the system.ext4.tar with the system.ext4.img
So, I have done half MTK droid backup (it stops when it give me the error, so is not thecomplete backup, but the system.img os ok..) and there is the system image file.. I can upload it 5-04 night (GMT+1) or maybe this night. I'll post the link when it's uploaded.
The firmware of the 4033D have the custpack partiotion too, adn I don't know if it's needed too, so if the flash of system.img fails I'll upload the custpack too
The recovery with CWM is here: https://www.mediafire.com/?bg4rtah9tsbhszs
EDIT: I done a full backup with MTK adn I prepared files for flash tool. I compressed it all in ~460MB archive, t should contain everything. The upload time is the same!
EDIT2 4-3-14 0051 gmt+1: I'm uploading it on Mediafire! It's a high compressed arc archive, so it can drop the pc perfomance while extracting, so have patience
With my connection it wants a lot of time, it say ~8hrs

Hi
I have an Asus Fonepad 8 (K016 or FE380CG. 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM), I know it's not popular around here.. But any help is very welcome.
My initial device's state
- Stock rom 4.2.2
- Root (installed: Greenify, App Ops, Coolify, System App Remover (Jumobile))
- I uninstalled about 20 system apps
then I received OTA update to Lollipop and it displayed the infamous android "error" with the red exlamation mark. so i uninstalled every root app, EXCEPT System App Remover (silly me i forgot the most crucial part), probably meaning that some system apps are still gone. I also did full unroot inside SuperSU.
I tried factory resetting in order to successfully update to Lollipop, but once I get to the setup Welcome screen, these dreaded messages show up. ENDLESSLY
Unfortunately, com.android.phone has stopped working
Unfortunately, com.android.systemui has stopped working
Unfortunately, com.process.acore has stopped working

One time, the endless torture stopped and I was able to access Settings. I opened Applications and there was very (infact, too) few apps installed. Less than 200MB of RAM is used. I thought the factory settings failed, so I tried doing the same thing again in fastboot mode. But still a no-go.
Then I tried
Code:
fastboot -w
and it did say "success" but it couldn't format. "File system not supported". I forgot the exact message but that, i think is the point.
In Droidboot Provision OS, there is an option called "SD download". I put the official ROM for my device (.zip) in my SD card, then tried doing exactly that. Still no-go. Below is the entire (not exact) process
Copying E:\ASUS_UPDATE.zip to /cache (i renamed my firmware .zip file to that)
Copying asus update file (i have no idea where this file (if it even is a file) is located)
then my device reboots
a brief "no command" error appears
reboots back to my faulty state
Click to collapse
I then tried to erase cache and userdata, and ran
Code:
fastboot update fw.zip
This appears
archive does not contain android-info.txt
archive does not contain android-product.txt

Desperate enough, I tried to again erase cache and userdata and system (probably my worst decision). and the device is now stuck in boot logo screen.

I booted my device back to fastboot, and my serial number was shown as "unknown". The same appeared when i type below code in cmd in my PC.
Code:

One thing to be noted. I am really confused with ASUS's official firmware.
There is no recovery.img, system.img, userdata.img or cache.img
Here is a list of files and directories inside of it:
META-INF (folder)
recovery (folder, 2 files: recovery-from-boot.p and install-recovery.sh)
system (folder, a lot of folders inside like "app", "bin", "etc", "fonts")
boot.img
fastboot.img
splash1.img
splash1_s.img
splash2.img

I do not have nandroid or any kind of backup.
I have googled and tried everything I could find for the past 9 hours. So, i think it's high time I ask experts about this.
I am thinking of taking it to the service center. But any more knowledge regarding this beforehand is very valuable to me.
I know this is too long but I've highlighted the most important parts.
Any kind of help is welcome.
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. Unfortunately there is not a dedicated forum and there is very little information about your device on XDA. There is nothing on how to flash the stock firmware. But it sounds like that's what you need to do right now. Looking at ASUS's web site it looks like there should be another zip file. ifwi.zip, in the one you extracted. That's most likely where the image files you are missing reside.

Hi. Thank you so much for replying and taking the time to read my long "story".
Sadly, yes. There is little to no community for my device.
Regarding ifwi.zip, below is part of the content of the file.
FE380CG_16_BOM_TOKEN_v79.54_CRAK_DEV.bin (3.608 bytes)
FE380CG_16_IFWI_v79.54_CRAK_DEV.bin (4.194.468 bytes)
FE380CG_1_BOM_TOKEN_v79.54_CRAK_DEV.bin (3.608 bytes)
FE380CG_1_IFWI_v79.54_CRAK_DEV.bin (4.194.468 bytes)
FE380CG_2_BOM_TOKEN_v79.54_CRAK_DEV.bin (3.608 bytes)
FE380CG_2_IFWI_v79.54_CRAK_DEV.bin (4.194.468 bytes)

I doubt that it's the system image. The file size is just way too small.
The folder with the largest size is System, and inside there are a lot of folders (app (system apps and asus's bloatwares are inside), bin, etc, fonts, framework, etc, and build.prop). It almost looks like ASUS doesn't package system into a .img file, rather in a folder. That's why I am also looking for a script file that "copies" this folder into the device, if it exists.
I am now downloading the latest (was just uploaded by ASUS) firmware, which is Lollipop.
I'll dig in the file and see if I can find anything interesting.
Ok, download's finished.
Below is the root directory of the new firmware.zip
META-INF (folder)
recovery (folder)
system (folder)
boot.img
droidboot.img
splash.img
file_contexts (no extension)
l_recovery.fstab
partition.tbl
ifwi.zip
modem.zip

ifwi.zip has the same contents, only a newer version.
I tried fastboot update fw.zip and the same error pops up
archive does not contain 'android-info.txt'
archive does not contain 'android-product.txt'
error: update package has no android-info.txt or android-product.txt

I have attached a screenshot of updater-script I found inside META-INF/com/google/android. and screenshots of the directories of the firmware zip's contents. Hoping any is helpful to solve this.
First, I know nothing specific about your device. But do you have a custom recovery on your device? CWM or TWRP. The updater-script looks like it should be flashed in a custom recovery, not with fastboot. Edit, also, what's in the system folder, etc. Are there image files in there?

Sorry for the late reply.
I just got the device back from the service center.
I inquired about where I can get the firmware file, and the guy said ASUS's website, but to flash it I need a tool.
It seems that this tool then copies the entire system folder to the device.
Anyways, the problem is solved now. Thank you very much for your help.
Glad you got it fixed. I'll close this thread.

You see structure of this folder, i think it cant be copied by copy/paste. Only can be flashed by img files via fastboot
