H90022b Software update,October 12, 2017 - AT&T LG V10

I just upgraded two ATT LG V10 to H90022b released on 10/12/2017.
I thought it's just security patch but somehow I feel both get snappier.
And power seems improved a little bit. But I am not sure... maybe it's because it reinstalled all apps during upgrading ?
anyone has any issue or any improvement after upgrading to H90022b ?

ajutama si pe mine te rog frumos cu ultimul firmware lg h900
---------- Post added at 01:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:28 PM ----------
am probleme de securitate dupa update android 6 pe lg h900
am nevoe de firmware ATT LG V10 la H90022b si nu stiu de unde sa downlandez
poate daca fac update la lg h900 cu H90022b mi se va rezolva problema

Have 2-week-old Lg v10 H900, new, unlocked. It would not upgrade with LG Bridge or OTA, saying "device may be rooted". So went online and found Marshmallow KDZ file and uploaded to phone. It shows the Marshmallow is up but now I get errors like "com.android.settings has stopped", "LG VPN has stopped", and "lock screen settings has stopped". I cannot configure/initiate fingerprint scanner, and device reboots when I uninstall an app.
I have cleared all caches and reset to factory (recommended by LG tech help...waiting for additional solutions from them), all to no avail.
Any ideas??

I have the same problem I am facing the same error in setting app if you fix these
If you fix these error please help me out

can someone with this update share it please as some of are not getting the update ota.

wow, it's been a year.. not solution yet? i wish i had this read these threads before updating to MM ...

Me too..
Wish someone with H90022b is generous enough to extract the partitions of the device so we can flash it using Qfill. As long as I have the device, I promise to do my best to provide the other files such as the loader and xml files.
I dont really understand the purpose of these partitions, so we need all except modemst1 modemst2 fsg (where imei is stored), cache, and of course no userdata. The total size will be around 4GB but will be around 2GB compressed.
No harm but will help a lot for many of us.
If anybody wants to help but not sure what to do, feel free to contact me.
Thank you!

Problem with extracting partitions once on 22b would probably require root (at least for methods that I know of, such as Wanam's 'Partitions Backup & Restore'. Besides, most users who rooted it on lollipop never upgraded the software, users who would have 22b installed can't achieve root, and developers who could really help with this have already moved on. I just bought the AT&T version of this phone to use with the $10 Unreal Mobile unlimited monthly plan and realized that there is no root after MM update. I could live without root but I am also stuck with outdated 21z.

Fortunately there's another way.
We have to get the phone to Qualcomm 9008 mode.
There are 2 safe way to do it, I said safe because I did both a thousand times (hyperbolic, lol) without any problem or effect to the phone if it just "reading/extracting".
The 1st way is to connect 2 points on the board while connecting the usb cable to the computer. Of course the board need to be taken out from the phone.
I understand if the 1st way may not comfortable enough for some, then the 2nd way is using a deep flash cable, which is an easy mod to a spare usb cable.
If I have a 21z or 22b device, I can create these files in less than an hour and potentially help many 90021w user.
Both may not an easy thing to do. So will be great if anyone willing to lend a hand.

Hello,
Thank you for your efforts. Sorry I was a bit busy these days.
Initially I'm trying to get my luck by googling up what I see on your screenshots, but no luck.
Now I'm still trying to get a script to copy the phone's partitions. Seems like will taking a while.
I'll let you know if it's ready, hopefully won't be long.
Thank you again!

You welcome. I also tried to download a kdz for my firmware by using LG Bridge's 'update error recovery' option but it gives me error that "Your phone information cannot be checked. For more information, contact LG customer service". But if i use just 'Software Update' it tells me that I can update to latest version "V21W_00" through update center settings in my phone. I think that LG Bridge database only have up to V21W as the latest OS for LG H900 and it doesn't recognize that my phone has more updated version, so even if someone had Nougat they got OTA, they wouldn't be able to use LG Bridge or PC Suite to help us this way.
I am just tired of this phone and gonna sell it and buy a T-Mobile version. Good luck to you, hope you find a way to upgrade software on your phone.

I read somewhere that after 21w, at&t keep the firmware on their server, maybe that's why the only way to update is through OTA.
When will you sell the phone approximately? I may finish the script before it..

Maybe it will change something if we get the H90022b .. i'm little skeptical though. Because our issues with H900 MM started because we Flashed a H900 ROM over a H901 or VS990 board. the way i see it, even if AT&T releases Nougat, we still gonna have issues, even worse.. we kinda screwed..
i've been thinking, maybe the H90021w was somehow corrupted or missing some files...
Also, i've been reading some threads, people talking about reflashing the correct ROM, either a H901 or VS990 ... but i'm not ready to dry that considering none has done that succesfully..
For me, the solution would be find a solution to go back to Lolipop... at least it no issues. outdated maybe, but everuthing was working fine on my phone.
https://cdn-cf-3.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/cool.gif

Going back to Lollipop is not possible because of antirollback. And I dont think if there's anybody ever found code board H900 on the pcb. Eventhough it seems not right but vs990 is the correct pcb board, it just the bad firmware (v21w). And there's no KDZ or TOT newer than v21w around as far as I know.
I think I found the solution, but I need a volunteer with v21z or v22b firmware on his phone

Help please. Update rooted flex2 with old software vers

My Flex2 is LS996ZV4, i bought it in Cuba. It never got any OTA update since i rooted it very early and the software update notification didnt showed up there. Im living now in Peru and the notification does show up (by the way it can be seen in the screenshot), but... the update does not work because the phone is rooted and i find no way to unroot it due to its old software version(V4). Im in some kind of a loophole here
In the mean time, my phone overheat and lags like crazy! And i've been using it like this for almost a year now...
I asked this before, and i got no response, guess is not something easy to do.
Thanks in advance. Any tips will be higly appreciated.
Do some search in the forum and you will find similar threads about this issue for H950 or other variants check if it applies to your model or try it on your own if it works good then you are fine if it doesnt you will have to wait for professional support by other members who have exp with this device
Thanks for the tip @yeyoo. Im starting to believe there is no solution at hand...
I have searched... and almost every advice i read implies going back flashing the stock image and unrooting. But i cant do It because i cant find an image of this old software vers.(v4) to download.
I think you dont need the same version you have you can flash higher version kdz easily and it will remove root automaticly or you can try to update through lg mobile support tool on a pc

LG V10 AT&T MM Root

This is a thread for the progress of MM root on the AT&T variant of the LG V10. I am working to find a way to root it, even if it is not through a TOT, but a exploit.
I know some of you were wondering about my donate info, and so I decided to go and set up a Paypal if you felt so obliged haha. (Its in my info in my profile)
Right now I am examining a TOT that someone sent me and I will determine if it is corrupted too, or if we have a shred of hope. Wish me luck! Will update later if it is found that it is bad, which I expect.
Ok, so I just compared this TOT to the one that iBowToAndroid sent me, the 2nd time. They are practically identical, regardless of them having different MD5s. Although if anyone feels like actually testing it before they go to better phone, feel free. ha
If it will be possible (and when you will find a way), please, make possible for H960a too.
Well, i am happy to see someone is making progress on the root development on MM, at least, make the community alive.
However, MM needs systemless root and the old way by injecting su binary to the TOT will not work at all.
I am not going to discourage you, unlocking bootloader should be the only way to root MM.

Unlocking bootloader is something else I currently working on, if the su binary inject does not. Right now I am planning to pull the entire systems contents by soldering off the storage chip and reading it using some hardware of mine. Once I copy all of the partitions over, then the fun begins

The KDZ files used by LGUP include an image of most of the flash used by the system. A few portions are missing, but not very many, notably the "misc" portion is absent. I believe the missing portions are ones that would be unaffected by rooting, so you could get most of the data out of a KDZ file and then root to get the rest of the data.
Aside from the key for the bootloader potentially being in the "misc" area, I also noticed there is noticeable amount of space reserved by the GPT, but unused. There is also a noticeable amount of unallocated space between the GPT and first slice (the "modem" area; this could be for alignment purposes, but it could have other uses as well).
Hopefully LG will be persuaded to unlock the bootloader of all V10 models, but I'm a bit on the pessimistic side at this point. I also hope the unlock mechanism will be shared by all V10s, so we don't need to reproduce it for each device. I haven't done cracking before, but I hope to target the H962 and be able to install full mods in the future...
How goes the progress ZVNexus? Thanks so much for embarking on such a journey for the sake of us all. I loved the flexibility of my Nexus 6, but it was so much weaker than the V10 in so many areas...especially the camera functionality and the ridiculous amount of sluggishness during normal tasks. I went through around 10 of these phones due to QC issues. I'm happy with my V10 (at&t gave me a replacement since I warranty returned the nexus so many times). But, it's just not the same without root and unlocked bootloader. Thank you again!
I found this today..I am sure you have seen it but I figured I would put it here anyway. I downloaded it but figured someone smarter should look before I tried to flash it. I cannot post it. Someone posted it on the original mm tot download thread..it was posted by radical.
In Theory...
In theory...
Are stock MM KDZ files available for the AT&T V10? I haven't seen them in the KDZ thread, but they may be posted in the AT&T area. If so, it should be possible to use my KDZ tools to unpack the KDZ, then install Superuser in the image and then repack the KDZ and tell LGUP to install the modified KDZ.
At the moment I'm cautiously optimistic about the KDZ tools. I've got all of the fields inside the files identified, but there some hazardously big ones in the DZ header that are unknown. My tools simply copy those, but I worry. Also SEEK_DATA/SEEK_HOLE are available on Linux, but likely not on Windows. (hack: replacing SEEK_HOLE with io.SEEK_END at the top of image2chunks.py should work around errors)
any update on this project?
I follow the V20 threads and all the V20s have root now. From what I read they used a debug boot.img from a Developer V20 and extracted the boot.img and used an exploit from the DirtyCow Root method to flash it. You have to really be involved to root it.
Just seeing where this can take the V10.
Any Update?
Sir is there any update on the root for at&t LG v10? Waiting anxiously!!

Nope. The hope of root for this phone was crushed long ago. Almost time for everyone to get new ones.
I am going to upgrade my phone from lg v10 to v20. Can you confirm me that is every lg v20 mobile carrier version ROOTABLE or i should buy a specific version?

My At&T LG G4 refuses to update marshmallow (Android 6)

Hello House,
Please can anyone help me out??
I got an AT&T unlocked phone from a friend in the U.S. Phone works fine but is on Android 5.1. I want to upgrade to Android 6. I tried software update from settings-about phone-update center. Update fails at 1% with error: software update unavailable. Please contact LG customer service... err:0x112500. I checked the net and got a OTA file that some guys claim will update without an AT&T sim. I tried updating this using FOTA via adb: same error at 1%. I tried updating using LGUP with the OTA file: same error at 1%. Please can anyone help out on how to update this phone!!!
I'm on build LMY47D, software version: H81010o
Would really appreciate any assistance.

You’ll need to update via an AT&T sim. If it won’t update it an att sim you might not have an actual H810. A lot of people have problems with the phone after updating so I wouldn’t recommend it anyway.

Hi Hyelton,
Thanks for the super prompt response. Unfortunately I'm not in the US and do not have access to a ATT sim. even if i had, there is no network for ATT where I am. Based on my research online, others were able to update without the sim card using FOTA via adb and LGUp. I just don't understand why mine is giving me so much stress. The phone is a H810. Can send a screenshot of phone's software details page. I need the phone to be on Android 6 cos I need to install my office apps on the phone and only android 6 or above is supported.....

The phones software details doesn't show the actual model just the software installed. Just throwing it out there it's common when it comes to the H810 to be sold to someone and its not an H810. Especially if your friend bought it referbed

It’s in the guide/thread your posting in . Yes you would use LGUP and choose refurbish if you cannot select the tot choose upgrade, select the tot then go back and choose refurbish.
Some things to remember. If it is a wrong model phone flash will either fail and you’ll be stuck, or the update will work but under settings and privacy /password and a few other things will no longer be usable.
Also you won’t be able to downgrade once you flash this.

Hi Hyelton,
So I flashed the phone and the upgrade worked. However unfortunately, I cant get into the security settings, my lock screen settings is stuck on swipe(other lock methods fail). and phone wifi does not work with enterprise wifi that is secured. Do you have any fix for this? If this is a board issue, maybe I should open the board and flash it with the appropriate firmware for the board (ie: If H815, flash with MM for 815 etc)-what do you think?

Just an update; opened the motherboard, its a H810. not sure why I'm having this security setting issue. also, funny enough, I can now update software directly from AT&T server. My 20y is now 22c! if I can just fix this "unfortunately, the process com.android.settings has stopped" error on the security settings, I will be fine.
Please anyone have a solution to this?

Sadly that error is symptom is common across a lot of AT&T G4s both faked and real. Only fix is to have its board replaced. There’s no fix for it.

Probable solution to VS990 motherboard with H900 or H901 software (marshmello hole)

Hi guyzz I think I've found a solution to the following problems:
1. VS990 board with H900 or H901 software.
2. Settings app crashes, Fingerprint sensor doesn't work, uninstalling an app causes soft boot
But I need help. So anyone willing please comment below.
P.S. as usual this is an experimental solution, so please try at your own risk.
Step 1: I need someone to put their phone in [Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008], because to my understanding this is the lowest level hardware control for the emmc in qualcomm evices.
Step 2: Once in this mode we need to follow the qfil solution to recover from the hardbrick and install the VS990 software.
But as I'm new to this, I've only found one way of entering the mode. (can't add the image due to xda restrictions -_- please help me with posting the image link )
If there is a software way to do this too, please comment below.
I have the same problem.
I tried many solutions but nothing better.
What is your solution ?

Hi, sorry for the late reply. But my solution is very very risky. It involves willingly hard bricking your phone and just flashing the device with VS990 software using the Q-fil method. But I need testers to actually prove that it works in general and not just on my phone.
But as I mentioned it is very very dangerous. So, unless you have the phone just lying around; I wouldn't suggest it.
OK,
I would try. Now phone is usless.

I also have to mention that the ARB is not just in the system, it's also somehow modifying the hardware. I have 2 H900 (both are VS990) boards. One of them is 5.1 rooted, the other is H90021w. I put the 5.1's emmc on the other board and not working. Then I flash the H90021w on the former 5.1's emmc, the phone is working. I won't put the H90021w emmc to the other board as it will ruin the board.
Note: I have a medusa pro box, so I can flash the 90021w anytime if it's bricking.

I think some of us are ready.
I am ready to do this, translate in 9008 if still relevant,

lg v10 h900&901
Hey, I'm really interested on how this turns out.
So from what I'm understanding, the idea is to get the LG V10 AT&T software flashed (with verizon motherboard) into usb qloader mode, and then to flash the verizon software or the original LG V10 H900 unto it?
I'd say its worth a go, but I don't have a medusa box in case it goes wrong ^^

I've try the very possible way I can think of.
I've take out the EMMC and put a H900 lollipop inside it, not working. Not even any other FW will working, whether VS990 or H901, not after we put H90021w on it. And if I put that EMMC with android 5.1 on another VS990 board, which H90021w is never run on it, it's working fine.
I really suspect the ARB of H90021w is making physical changes on the board, and then only H90021w will working and probably newer FW too. I think that's our only chance. If we can find someone with newer FW willing to help, we can try it. Please check https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-v10/general/calling-help-h90021z-h90022b-firmware-t3881691
Hi and thanks for the support. But due to utter desperation I got rid of the phone about 3 months ago. Now here is all of my research.
1. Get into HS USB mode by holding down both vol up+down....
2. Get QFIL to flash and it should work... P.S. flash proper ones... also dont flash versions below the one that it got messed up with
P.S. I did have a guy try out the board pinching method to get into HS USB... and somehow he got into fastboot and then I got out of contact with him

Thanks..
But the problem is, there's no newer KDZ than H90021w around.

I know.... but my solution was... as you get into EDL mode all security goes to hell (theoretically) so theoretically you should be able top flash the original ROM that was meant for that specific motherboard, and not the one that was eventually installed during refurbish process
Now technically this should get rid of the unable to uninstall apps and the fingerprint bug....

Maybe.. but the option is very limited on H900. And if we flash the H90021w firmware, there;s no way back.
Basically I really suggest anybody outside US to avoid buying an AT&T phones.
I need to add. Contrary to many believe here, motherboard with VS990 code may not only for verizon, but Tmo and AT&T as well. I've open many V10's board, not once I found H901 or H900 printed on the motherboard (many VS990 and a few F600). Even those H901 which working normally and able to run on the latest official nougat KDZ, are on VS990 boards too.

Is there a way to identify for what deviceversion the version of VS990 board one might have really is.

Any way to unbrick a P40 Pro? "Your device has loaded a different operating system"

So like a dummy I flashed the wrong firmware on my P40 Pro. LGRP6 instead of LGRP4. Now when booting it says "Your device has loaded a different operating system" and then goes straight to erecovery. In eRecovery, downloading and restoring the system doesn't work because it fails to retrieve package info.
I already tried everything possible with HiSuite Proxy, too. I read bricking a P40 Pro this way requires to replace the motherboard, but not sure how true that is. My phone is still under warranty, but I'd prefer to fix it myself, if possible.
Any ideas? Thanks.
Tried eRecovery without any sim card in it?

Yes, I just get retrieving package info failed. Every time
Then it seems motherboard replacement is the only known option left.
Same issue with me
I spent a month to fix it and didn't find a way.
I tried Chimera Mobile and it didn't helped.
The only thing that probably can help is SigmaKey software. If anybody has it please check and say did it helped or not.
Huawei don't want to replace it by warranty for me, that is why I try everything.

I can't find anybody with SigmaKey. Probably I'll go to replace the motherboard in the nearest future.
Other methods definetely don't help.
Do you have any update? Please share if yes.
Hi all! My device is finally fixed! It was fixed by disassembly, hardware testpoint and flashing of Android 11 via SigmaKey!
You have to find a very expirienced person to do this work. I can recommend one person in Moscow, Russia in private messages.
Disassembly is probably necessary

Thanks for the update!
After 4 days trying everythingI found also a guy who told me exactly what you are saying. disassembly is required because of the test point. No other way currently.
SoI will go to a phone shop tomorrow to disassemble the back cover of my P40Pro+. Then the guy will do the whole flashing process via remote. But it's paid service for 30$. I decided to do or because I wanna use this phone.

The only other way is to try to replace the motherboard by warranty.
However, in my case Huawei refused me this.
I think 30$ is a good price because it was very difficult for me to find a person good enough to do it.
Hi guys. Just posting a small update here. I found a xda user who accepted to help me unbrick my P40 Pro for a donation via remote desktop. He will be using paid tools and hopefully it will unbrick the device. I'll post another update soon, to let you guys know the outcome. Fingers crossed!

It is not always possible without disassembly. (Like was in my case)
I wish you good luck but be ready for disassembly.
Another update. First of all big thanks to @oslo83 for accepting to help me with my bricked P40 Pro. Unfortunately things didn't go our way and the device is still bricked. The problem is that I flashed LGRP6 EMUI 11, with EMUI 10.1 preload & cust. A ****ty situation but it is what it is. @oslo83 advised me to take the device to Huawei repair center (it's still under warranty) and that's what I'm going to do.
However if anyone has a bricked P40 Pro, I still recommend oslo83 services, there's a chance your brick is different from mine and that he will be able to unbrick it. If not, he will issue a refund like he did for me.
Hi guys, I have a brilliant update for you guys:
The guy I was working on this issue was able to fix my phone remotely with SigmaKey. After hours of tries he made it!
There is no software solution yet - so the back cover has to be dissembled. I went to a phone shop at the corner and let them open it. After removing ca. 10 screws you can reach the "Test Point". There are some videos on YouTube which can support you. Its not easy but its makable.
The genius guy gives a step by step instruction what to do via WhatsApp.
So at the end my P40Pro+ works again and I am so happy! I will start the downgrade now (to install gms)and I will DEFINITELY use the correct FW this time
I can share the contact - send me a private message.
Another update hopefully the next one will be the FINAL one.
So like @oslo83 suggested, I contacted Huawei via chat on their official site. They accepted to repair my device for free with no problem. I sent my phone to the repair center and now I simply have to wait. The person in the Huawei chat told me it could take up to two weeks. And another thing, they let me know the phone will be updated to the latest firmware, so I probably won't be able to downgrade and install GMS, unless there is a way to install it on EMUI 11 (not sure). But at least I'll have a working P40 Pro again
I have the same problem. I'm tryingto fix it with hsuite proxy and the phone in fastboot&rescue mod
In HiSuiteConfig.xml I added to be able to enter the recovery mode
<rule type="ELS-N29" cnName="HUAWEI P40 Pro" enName="HUAWEI P40 Pro" option="" ></rule>
I'm testing to flash this:
Base version: ELS-LGRP4-OVS 10.1.0.176
Custom version: ELS-N29-CUST 10.1.0.8(C432)
Preload version: ELS-N29-PRELOAD 10.1.0.2(C432R5)
Checked "Recovery OS", CUST PKG and Preloaded PKG
So far it connects
I can download and unpack the firmware on the phone
but then I have an error-message on (Installing 0%) telling me, that on this phone the recovery mode is not available. I'm trying with different base firmware - but every attempt takes a lot of time.

Update: It's always the same error message after unpacking the files. So now I'm trying to install an EMUI11 rom.
Now testing with:
ELS-LGRP4-OVS 11.0.0.175
ELS-N29-CUST 11.0.0.3(C432)
ELS-N29-PRELOAD 11.0.0.3(C432R5)
Update: Failed to at 0% :-(

It looks like I have flashed the following:
"FirmWare" : "ELS-LGRP4-OVS 11.0.0.170"
"FirmWare" : "ELS-N29-CUST 11.0.0.3(C301)"
"FirmWare" : "ELS-N29-PRELOAD 11.0.0.3(C635R2)"
Still trying to reflash ... any ideas?
I've built now my own dload
using the files downloaded by hsuite over hisuite proxy inside Hisuite\ROM/
and copy them on a USB-C-drive /dload
trying the usb-flashing method. So far it went only to 37%
