WebLiveWallpaper: Set content (galleries/animations/sites/cams from the web or local files/folders) as Live Wallpaper, live widget or as picture frame.
Create your personal show, create your own (animated) wallpaper with JavaScript!
Original first post:
I wrote my first live wallpaper today because I did not find something like it and thought it should not be too difficult to do. So here it is. I always wanted a real live wallpaper displaying something from the web instead of just a picture or offline animation. For me it is really useful because I can keep an eye on my favourite webcam over the day and decide to go there if the conditions stay or improve. A lot of other use cases should be possible ...
There is now also a picture frame app and a live widget included (also running on devices without live wallpaper support).

Noone else thinking this is a great idea?
This enables you to get an automated cycling flickr-Wallpaper, the National Geographic Pic of the Day automatically on your homescreen. Or the latest News-Picture, or your wallpapers from many image galleries. And of course webcams ... and so on. I think this freedom and possibilities is what makes Android so great!
New version with asynchronous loading, much improved website parsing. Still a lot to do (performance, widget, website redirects supported, better organisation of links and settings, ...) and so little time. But I really think this one has to appeal to some more people than just on a few sports-forums I read/post where people enjoy watching webcams!?!

I'll def give this a try!
this is awesome! thank you..
This seems a brilliant yet simple idea and seems to be well done. I will give this a try but its not realy for me as i dont have a data plan and only really use my wifi at home to connect so the updates on the pic would not be frequent enough.....maybe one day I will treat myself.
Thanks for your hard work
Def. bookmarked for later use. Very good idea.
New version 0.84 with optimizations and better gallery support
Loading is faster now (and you can enable a progress bar if you are curious/need to know).
I also added an option to dig into picture galleries (load the large version of the image which looks much better as a wallpaper on highres phones).
For the next update I am working on cycling the gallery pictures instead of using the most recent "best" one so there will be even more Live for more 'static' webpages.
New apk attached to first post!
Awesome. Thanks!

Version 0.9
Has a lot of changes (hopefully good ones) with the loading and gallery stuff and a LOT of options to set everything fine.
For example WIFI exclusive updating has been added! Also the quick selections have presets now to explain useful settings for your sites ...
Still a lot to do. Next will be password protected webcam/server access.
0.9.1 fixes some things
no more default WIFI-only enabled (red screen if mobile at first start)
fixes of parameters for some quick selection items
no more crashes with wrong/incomplete URLs entered by hand
0.91 ... watch xdadevelopers (or other website) live on your homescreen background
See last screenshot attached to first post It's a hack (web snapshot) I may regret/have to replace by something else later and not fast. But should be ok for a lot of use cases.
And a lot of more serious updates like a sorted settings menu, access to standard password protected servers/cams, better gallery updating with long refresh times.
Edit: v0.91.1 can now be opened after install/in market for all those people not knowing what a wallpaper is!
Taking a look at this on my sgs!!
Dev, you should have more confidence in patience, it's a great idea ;-). I typically wait until things hit the RSS, so I'm sure you'll see a little spike since it just came up in the past 20 minutes.
Good luck! I do have a question, have you judged the battery life impact? I did see the custom refresh rate option, but still I am curious to see what impact it had on both your idle and active battery life stats if you update as often as a regular widget since it'll probably download more data.
Suggestions: Be able to set up a schedule
Preferably with different settings for different days. For instance, M-F have it set to use pic of the day with an update every 24 hours, then on weekends have it set up to show a web/weathercam every 15 mins.
Also, being able to set it, instead of every X seconds, being able to set it to update maybe 3x on M-F would help out in a few cases. Example, to see a traffic or weather cam just before going to/from work.
Good luck, I look forward to seeing what you do with it, I'll let you know my findings.

all i can say is AMAZING
and also FOOTBALL scores as my live wallpaper FTW
come on you POOL!
Very nice. Works pretty well.
It would be real nice if you could get the picture to use the whole screen. Not sure if you are constrained by the site of course but I want to use this on my Archos 101 and it has a 1024X600 resolution so I get a lot of black bars.
Thank you for making this available.
Good idea.
How is on battery life though?
Very interested to see where this goes. Great idea IMHO. Subscribed.
Nice work.
Nice work. While trying this out, I ran across an issue. I accidentally the refresh time. If you enter nothing for the refresh time, it will force close (v0.91.2).
Great idea
Think of busy parents whose kids are in a daycare with kiddie cameras...live feed of your baby !
Awesome app. Ive bben wanting something like this for a while. Maybe could add some battery saving settings. thank you !!!!!!!
Thanks to forum posts here and on other communitys i got my Next7p rooted (of course enabled Android Market) with all bloat removed... but i still some issues that i can't solve my self.
The device has capactive buttons below the screen (search, home, menu, back) yet despite that the default os image has home, back & menu on the status bar (I understand the reason for volume ones since it lacks hardware volume control). Also since it wasn't meant for android market they took out Accounts & Sync from the settings list but left it in the os (can be accessed by market apps).
Challenge: Remove home, menu, back from the next7p stock SystemUI.apk & Restore Accounts & Sync to Settings.apk
Attached is the deodexed SystemUI.apk & Settings.apk for modifying... I look forward to someone potentially being able to solve my remaining annoyances with the device.
PS. I can test it after modding since i can recover it using its recovery mode (see other attachment).
Hi All,
This may not e the best place for this, but I cannot post in the Developer forums yet.
Background Information
Device : Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (P5100) (rooted)
ROM Version : cm-10.1-20130503-NIGHTLY-p5100
Issue Descriptions :
1. Some home screens not displaying contents
After trying to move an icon from my default homescreen (center, 3 of 5), to the screen to the right (4 of 5) all the contents of screen 4 disappeared, both icons and widgets.
When attempting to add a new icon to the screen, all the correct contents appeared - this also fixed Issue 2 (below).
However, after a reboot, the original problem - hidden contents and Issue 2 - were back.
2. Cannot move some icons or widgets
This one is unusal. I cannot Move, Resize, or Remove some of the widgets and icons on my home screen.
It appears to be the ones on the Right-Hand-Side mostly, but some in the same column do work, while one above it doesnt.
The same thing, but with fewer items, happens to things on the LHS.
I cannot, for example edit, remove, move the default Clock widget on main home screen.
I'm going to go back to a Monthly Build, see if that gets rid of the issue for me, but if anyone knows what the cause or workaround for these issues are, please let us know.
Small update :
I've changed the ROM to the latest Monthly Build (April 2013) (cm-10.1-20130411-EXPERIMENTAL-p5100-M3) but the issue remains.
I have had my Motoactv watch rooted for quite some time now and its been working flawlessly, however, the two problems I cant seem to troubleshoot are
1.Where for the love of god do I find a perfect calculator app that fits the screen perfectly. Every app ive downloaded the screen shrinks to the point where several buttons get mashed together.
2. On a similar subject, I have been trying to use the mouse & keyboard remote app to control my pc but when attempting to add a new server on the watch I get as far as adding the name & ip numbers but I cant save it due to the screen being too small for the save button to be shown.
Is there any way to resize the screen on certain apps or perhaps have a scroll option of some sort that will allow me to view these apps in full size somehow?

1. There is a good calculator app included with DPRom. I can pull the apk and post later today/tonight if you need it
2. Download the Xposed framework installer and App settings module found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2490548
This will allow per-app DPI settings. It's better than changing the DPI globally as that can adversely affect other apps. In order to install the Xposed framework and modules, you need to make sure the apks are moved/installed to phone storage first before running them or the changed will not go into effect.
With Android 5.0 Lollipop's release, the recents view (multitask button) became overview, and instead of showing you only actually running apps, it also shows you apps that have ran in the past. Over time, this screen ends up listing pretty much every app you have ever run, becomes completely useless, and wastes a perfectly good (soft-)button.
Recently aims to restore sanity, by limiting which apps are shown. In its aggressive 'running tasks only' configuration, it will show you only apps that are actually running right now. Because Android can be fairly aggressive itself with killing off apps, apps you have used just a minute ago may disappear from the list in this setup, and configuring Recently to remove entries that have not actually run the past few days may be the better option.
Aside from listing only running apps or apps that have run in a certain timeframe, Recently also allows you to limit by number of entries shown. Note that actually running apps will always be shown, regardless of this setting - only entries from apps that aren't actually running are ever removed.
Advanced
A number of more advanced options are available as well, such as showing a 'Clear All' button in the recents view (doesn't work on all devices), limiting the number of Google Searches that show up (originating from the Google search bar and Google Now), and hiding the Settings app.
Additionally, you can force remove tasks and documents that are running but have not been accessed longer than the configured age limit. This is a rather extreme measure that will result in tasks being killed, do not use it lightly.
Pro
Purchasing the Pro version supports my developments and will allow you to start Recently automatically at boot.
Future
This app is built specifically for Android 5.0 through 7.x. Future versions of Android may work differently, the recents/overview screen may be changed by Google, etc. At some point, this app may stop working because of this.
FAQ
Aren't task killers bad?
No tasks are killed by Recently by default - it only removes entries from the recents list that are not actually running at time of removal. Some of the advanced options can cause tasks to be killed however, but these are clearly marked. Task killing can ultimately be bad for performance and battery life, so be sure you know what you're doing and why.
What resources does this use?
Virtually none. There are no wakelocks at all. Battery impact should be less than 1% worst case.
Nothing happens?
(1) Make sure you have enabled the switch in the top right of the settings screen
(2) Make sure you aren't using a custom kernel that disables logging
(3) Make sure you give it a minute or so after first enabling it
When I press the back and the multitasking button really quickly, my last used app that is now closed is still listed
The delay in this case is about a second after the app close animation finishes
I just pressed the back button on an app, and I'm in 'running apps only' mode, but the app is still listed
Not all apps actually close when you press the back button. Most do, but some don't.
Nothing is happening at all, and I'm finding an 'unexpected EOF' error in logcat
Sometimes the app can't access logs. This is usually because multiple apps are trying to read from logcat at the same time. The app will keep trying periodically. Rebooting usually gets rid of this problem.
I can't get it to work
This may or may not be related, but Recently requires SuperSU if SELinux is in Enforcing mode. Another root solution will work if SELinux is in Permissive mode.

What about CF auto root for the Verizon S5 Running lollipop?!
It would be nice if the running apps are highlighted somehow to differentiate from the other ones, but I guess that's not the point of the app, just saying.. (though I don't have lollipop so I may be wrong)
Anyway, one of the reasons I don't have lollipop - gone.
Pro.. got thanks
I downloaded but I have no idea what it does. Can someone share?

This will make me save a lot of boring swipes. Another genius move from you, thank you sir.
Any way to tell if we have a kernel with logging on or not?
Running euphoria that uses lean kernel but app does not appear to work.

Could you make 'Recents' looks like that in KK? These cards view is slower than simpler one in KK.
