I wont say 100% impossible but pretty close if u want a rootable G5 get the tmobile or the internat one. Cant think of the model number.....

Yeah but t mobile and intl variant has so many issue. Ive tried t mobile but in two days there is a burned screen already and the intl is the gps issue. Verizon variant is the good model for lg g5 i think. After a year using it there no issue at all. Thank you i hope 2018 will be the year for the lg g5 verizon root. Can Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 LTE version be rooted?

I pulled the trigger on a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2. $849 unlocked. I wanted a option for LTE if I needed it. Thought the Snapdragon 800 might offer better performance/seems that is a unknown... Also heard faster charging. I saw a comment in another thread the Verizon locks boot loaders. Does anyone know if I will be able to root this device? How can i determine if the bootloader is locked?

Looking for this too, I tried using the Chainfire autoroot for the P905 but it seems it doesn't work for our model, the P905V.
No it will not work. I think this may be tough with a locked bootloader. Chainfire supports CF Autoroot but I believe he is away for the next few weeks. Not sure if he will be able to get it working on the Verizon LTE version but right now, there is no way to root that.
Also, as far as performance, there is really no difference from what I have read. If anything, the 905 *may* be slower due to LTE. What I can say is that the Snapdragon processor will charge faster than the Exynos in the P900.
If you REALLY need root, return the 905V and get a 900. I just tether mine to my HTC one when away from home or a hot spot. You'll also save more than 100 bucks. Verizon is making it very difficult to root with their locked bootloaders and I don't expect these will be in high demand so support from the Dev's may be slim.
Just my .02
I think we will be seeing TWRP support for the P900 in the next day or so. That should help open the door to custom rom's but I expect they are still a month or more away at this point.
I pulled the trigger on the 12.2 too, deciding on keeping it. Also ended up getting a 10.1 2014 for the SO....but mine is 12.2.But Verizon is just icky, lol, then the locked bootloaders, lack of support, then throw in lack of support from the devs due to very few devices etc...
I hope this can be rooted.

I'm currently testing the Verizon and the WIFI only models. The Verizon version is definitely smoother, especially when it comes to speed of opening web pages and browsing ( with both on WIFI). The Qualcomm processor in the Verizon version is definitely putting the Exynos processor in the WIFI only version to shame.
Unfortunately, if the Verizon version cannot be rooted I just may have to return it and get the more expensive unlocked international LTE version, just for the superior Qualcomm processor.
Is it 100% positive that verizon p905v cant be rooted? The recharging time and smoothness as well as battery life has made me an extremely happy camper for the LTE model. Somebody said chain fire was on holiday for month or so. I'm wondering what we can do to have information for him or anyone else to try and root.

Chainfire seems to have returned as shown by his recent posts in the central CF-Autoroot thread. Could you go post there again for us? I would but my post count is still low

How to rooting this tablet version verizon?? >> SM-P905V. I need change firmware for other country (Brazil), but Odin have a problem with block mode verizon. I bought in amazon site, no contract verizon. LTE is ok in Brazil ... I want OEM firmware in my tablet, not verizon firmware! someone could help me where to get an unlock for SM-P905v?
30 Days
Don't they have to release the firmware within 30 days? Perhaps we need to take this up with Samsung?

Thinking of switching to G4 from a Note 5

So I had & loved my G3.. should have went right to the G4 but I decided to give the Note 5 a try..
I'm curious about the status of current root methods for the G4..
Note 5 for AT&T doesn't seem like it's going to get rooted
So I'm concerned as seems to be the trend if I didn't have the device & root on one single old firmware a method worked on 6 months ago I won't be getting it for the G4 either.
Is that the case or are there still currently functional root methods for this device on most firmware versions ?
/salute
Still rootable as long as it's pre-Marshmellow. As of now Marshmellow is only rootable with an unlocked bootloader which is only possible with the international and T-Mobile versions.
knowing att, they probably wont update the device to marshmellow till about a month before the g5 releases. also, don't purchase one thru att if possible, you can pick up international gsm varients of the g4 for like 400-450 on amazon and ebay which should have unlocked bootloaders. you could probably also sell your note 5 on ebay for like 500-550 and purchase the international version which i imagine is rootable for around the same price as you sell the original for if you wanted to stay with sammy.
also to answer the orignial question, rooting the att g4 is pretty easy, there is no one touch tool that i know of, but as long as you can download some files and copy and paste some lines of code its pretty easy. also there is now an easy to revert back to stock att which there wasn't for a while if you need to make an rma or need to take an official ota after marshmellow or whatever the next update will be.
on a side note, if you do buy the att lg g4, make sure you take the latest update (o i believe), the phone is basically **** without it. mine was super laggy, overheating, and unresponsive to touch before it.
righteous.. well decision made
thanks yuh folks

Question about the 32GB/3GB Variants

Hey guys,
So long story short, I had my trusty G3 die on me a couple months ago. I then got a hold of a practically new only ever used once G Flex for a couple hundred, and I have to say that in all honesty, it's one of the best phones I've ever used.
But now I've gotten to the point where I need more than a 720p screen, internal storage with no SD Card slot and a better camera. As well as a general improvement in specs. The G Flex 2 perfectly fits what I want in a phone, everything about it is exactly what I want...Theres just one problem.
I had the Europe/International/D855 variant of the G3, but the EU variant of the Flex 2 doesn't come with 3gb ram. Only the US one does. So I'm wondering, would an unlocked US variant work in Australia where I live? Or is there a variant that would be better suited? As long as it's a 3GB/32GB one, I don't mind.
Cheers. Hopefully going to be joining you all soon.
Tl;DR: Will a US Variant work in Australia unlocked? Is there a variant that will work better?

Rather than try and guess what carrier you have or bands that they use vs what the phone supports, I'm gonna direct you here.

The Obligatory Root Question

Has anyone tried the A71 root method for the 5g variant?

Waiting to hear this myself.
A71 4G uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730
A71 5G uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765
Possible the same method works, but with different CPUs, not a guarantee.
I think a few other phones may be using that chipset, so there is some hope!

The T-Mobile US version just got an update as of 07/13/20:
Just an FYI in case you have this version & are wanting to stay on the original firmware/bootloader.

Was looking at this phone for the half-price promo. Enjoyed my LG G7, but it's time for a bigger screen (argh, age eats your eyes).
The G7 from TMO never got cracked, the over variants did. I'm not optimistic for a bootloader unlock on this one for that reason. Still, it looks like a great phone for $300 and tax, unlocked or not.
That would be disappointing. I haven't been on a locked device since the S2. Hoping the promo builds enough interest. So far I'm enjoying the phone.

FWIW, Package Disabler Pro works on this phone.
I know this was likely a given, but, just wanted to put it out there.
The package disabler & Good Lock options make for a great phone, whether you get it for half-price or not.
I had the S10e for a brief period & I'd take this phone over it all day long. Performance is equal to or better & the addition of 5G & a lot smaller hole-punch & this one wins hands-down.
If nothing else, order it via telesales & if you're not impressed, return it within the buyer's remorse period to avoid a restocking fee that you'd be charged if you did the same buying in-store.

Picked it up at a local Tmobile brick store.
Love it.
Excellent photos, the camera updates came thru today with the ROM version update. Very configurable, also loving popping the thing into 64mp mode for detail- there's a lot to play with. 5g works well.
This was a steal at 300 bucks (I just happened to have to add a line.)
The Mrs. just got the OnePlus 7T, and I liked it so much I thought about the OnePlus 8 5G from Tmo, but I think I'd have to get the OnePlus 8 Pro to get a camera this good.
Mostly, I've always gone for top of the line phones, mostly for the gee whiz factor. But the top of the line at 1399 absolutely just isn't worth the extra oomph to me anymore.
Yah, the speaker could be better, but who listens to music without headphones or a decent Bluetooth speaker, really... this comes great through my UE Boom.
Couldn't be happier. The fast charging is so good I don't care about wireless charging, I can't exhaust the battery in a day anyway.
Thanks for the good steer!
I've tried to flash Magisk onto the US version, but it just wouldn't work. Could be because I can't find the OEM unlock switch. Any ideas?

Whether you use the direct method (which sounds like what you tried) or use a custom recovery to flash Magisk...I think either way you need an unlocked bootloader, which we don't have yet.
I would gladly pay a reasonable sum for a solution
to unlock the bootloader/root/unlock this device.
It's a fine device for my own use, and seems to be among the higher-end devices.

Yeah, I'm annoyed I'm having to do without root. I rooted the first Android phone (G1) back in 2008 and have had rooted phones ever since.
My last phone was a Note4 that I rooted straight out of the box and kept it for 6 years.
So I'm keeping my fingers crossed and (im)patiently waiting.
It looks like Samsung phones are dead locked.
The last Samsung phone was Note 3 and no more.
The first 5G phone will be Moto Edge.
I was offered A71 but I refused it

Let's me address some of those statements there:
My previous phone was a Note 4 that I rooted the second it came out if the box in 2014....and had it for 6 years. I can personally assure you the Note 3 was not the last Samsung phone to be rooted.
The exploit required to root the Note 9 & S9 was found in Jan 2020.
And lastly, the A71 (previous non 5G version) has been rooted and instructions are available in the forum for that phone.
This one will get root, its just likely to take 4-6 months for someone to figure it out like nearly every other phone out there.
The A71 5G is a new phone only on the market a few weeks. It will get there.

It was not. Europe & Asia only, but plenty of people in the US bought unlocked ones. I almost did myself since it was less than half the price and has already been rooted. But I didn't want to wait the 2 weeks to receive it and the 5G had just gone on sale.
The reason the A71 5G was introduced in the US market was because if I had walked into a carrier store in May, my choice of Samsung phones was either:
1) a flagship product with a 4-digit price tag
or
2) a sub $200 budget phone.
The A series filled in the midrange gap in Samsung products rather than forcing me to an LG, HTC, or Moto product.

Holy smokes, thank you! I was skeptical on it working without root, but you're right, it's night and day. I think I have 3x more apps disabled than I have installed. The fact that you can get rid of idiotic stuff like Bixby is worth the 3 bucks right there!
I am currently looking into bootloader unlock and root method for all US Models.
I have combination firmware and stock firmware and am digging through them currently to see if an exploit is available

So have you found anything which may be a way in?
Yours is the first feedback which seems to show promise, at least on the surface.
so far all the old methods have been patched in both bootloader and boot.img so i am trying to see if i can escalate privlages on the combination firmware to be able to bypass a few CVE patchs and hopefully gain root to system or get the bootloader to unlock.
small update i would need engineering firmware for me to be able to crack the firmware and a engineering token so unless you happen to work at samsung and are willing to lose your job then unless someone more able than me is willing to take a crack at it im at an impass.
