You can use this recovery, when you're on Oreo: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/development/preliminary-twrp-3-1-1-0-mate-9-emui-8-t3687622
Then this SuperSU: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=962021903579485056
There's no Magisk yet.

I've yet to try decrypting oreo, but you should be able to modify the updater-script in both public and HW zips, and remove the command mountcrypt and the last that should normally install update.app.
So unzip, edit, zip. It should work if it's just the Huawei commands that are making it reboot.

Hi again @ante0
i just installed oreo again, tried to decrypt data:
1.flashed oreo
2.boot,factory reset with erasing data.
3.unlock BL
4.flashed TWRP
5.format data
6.reboot recovery,data was decrypted.
7.install SuperSu with the file u gave me in this thread.
8.flashed modified public and hw,( i had to remove verify files(verify script and verify script_data) which they contain mountencrypt ("data") command. ).(Hw ended up with error 9 but everything seems to be okay)
9.reboot
but when i boot in TWRP between first boot loop after installing SuperSu,data was encrypted.
any idea how can i decrypt data ?

Not possible with twrp
erase require [must with fastboot only]
Code:
fastboot format userdata

It should be possible. I don't think SuperSU changes/removes everything it needs to though, as we now seem to have 3 different fstab rather than 1. It should be possible to modify the AVB script to remove fileencryptioninline.

Much has changed since I posted that
Use this TWRP: https://mega.nz/#!4DYngAxL!OJEgQ4a4cSTypHgRBbMQbok2BRDuVHSDXNktAJ_PnKQ (flash to recovery_ramdisk)
With official Magisk v16 : http://tiny.cc/latestmagisk
I don't think SuperSU will get more updates tbh, and I haven't tested it lately. I do know that Magisk works on AOSP

Root Nougat without TWRP

Good day.
After searching, i have not found anything.
Is it possible to root Nougat without TWRP? Or we will have to wait?
Is TWRP Nougat compatible?
Thank you.

Chainfire haven't updated cf autoroot yet. I tried it and it didn't work.
I don't know about other ways.
TWRP itself works with 7.0 and decrypted data. So Flashing SuperSU there works (at least for me and Chainfire itself).
But if you have encrypted data, after you flash TWRP, 7.0 would not boot until you format data. The cause is unknown for now. See the SuperSU or TWRP thread for more.

It's encrypted by default. It just does not have a custom password set.
If TWRP can't mount data your data partition is encrypted and you need to flash the noencrypt zip and format data.
And if i remove password and fingerprint ?

Flashing only is not enough. You have to format data and by this loose all your data on the phone. There is currently no other way.

No, the upgrade has a new partition layout and its going to flash all of them. And TWRP official is not Oreo compatible yet. There is a modified boot img in the thread below to let you boot to twrp and root.

Are you saying that if I boot (temporarily) into this TWRP, I can root the phone and that will stick even when I reboot without TWRP?

Correct. You will root and flash kernels and what ever mods you usually do while in this temp TWRP. After you are done you reboot and it will all be there.

You can boot twrp without flashing and then flash root
https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...w-to-unlock-bootloader-nokia-3-t3699344/page2

But when i flash twrp recovery then i go to recovery and ask for password i cancel it then ask for system modifications I'm confused so i dont give permission to twrp for system modifications then i flash magisk zip then wipe cache of dalvik cache and reboot then its stuck in bootloop

You said you wanted root, you were supposed to use the process to get root not flash magisk. I thought you had a method of installing magisk after getting root. I thought you were going to boot twrp recovery, not flash it, since you said you didn't want twrp.
Unfortunately you're going to have to flash stock with OST.
Check this link for more information:

yeah now i got twrp but only come when boot from fastboot commands and i want magisk how can i get it?

Also in that recovery I got errors like can't Mount and some kind of encryption error and it say's I have to format data

In my opinion, only use the recovery for flashing stuff, don't mount anything other than sdcard, don't unlock. Maybe when there is a more compatible version of twrp ...

Well i don't know about the modules, but when I flashed stock firmware with OST (first time I flashed recovery my phone was stuck in twrp) then flashed root and xposed, I was still able to install updates. The stock firmware I installed was 7.0, but now i'm on the most recent update. So unless there are some specific modules that you need from magisk, I think you can stick with the regular root.
On the other hand you can continue to experiment with magisk, maybe you will find something that we don't know yet and get it working. But remember, if you want to flash anything, don't format with twrp at all, just leave everything readonly and flash
I'm not able to go to recovery by buttons. Only by fastboot command why is that?
What the hell is this i just try to go to recovery by buttons it works but I'm on stock recovery but i flashed twrp then i format data did formatting data did something to recovery? Or is it that i have to use fastboot command to go to twrp recovery? Where the hell is that recovery?

I don't know; the process of flashing recovery on HMD's nokias isn't yet fully developed, people have complained about flashing recovery but still not booting into it. Personally I would recommend that you use stock recovery and use fastboot to boot into twrp instead of actually flashing twrp whenever you want to flash anything. That way you are still able to install system update
But for installing magisk every where written that flash magisk zip from twrp but i got bootloop

Have you flashed stock firmware with OST? Can you boot normally now? If not, do that, then update ti the current android version using OTA. After that boot into twrp (whether you chose to flash twrp or just boot twrp is up to you). Do a backup then try flashing magisk again, maybe it will work this time
Yeah i already flashed stock rom with ost and already update to latest version i think magisk is not supported in Nokia 3

Hello mate, you can't root nokia 3 with Magisk. Why? Because noone never send boot img to dev! So only option to root it is Chainfire SuperUser 2.79v.
Ok brother but i have a question if i root and then remove some system apps then can I safely install updates?

You are on Oreo, yes?
If so, flash this TWRP (3.2.1): https://mega.nz/#!4DYngAxL!OJEgQ4a4cSTypHgRBbMQbok2BRDuVHSDXNktAJ_PnKQ
Or this (3.0.3): https://mega.nz/#!AWpymRbC!ncVMIZL177b2OssrjSuKVq2AyyxzUqj_BKfsMEAajhw
Doesn't matter which you choose, both work fine.
And Magisk v16: http://tiny.cc/latestmagisk
(The reason for flashing TWRP is because of the fixlinks.sh script. Magisk installer can't find ramdisk otherwise without modifying the Magisk zip).

Try this one: https://mega.nz/#!AP5DRA4Q!i02i8cCi_UWoF2XZl5gjLb5ESpeilpR_OD0MHSh6Ezg
I have one on my Mate 9 with decryption support as well, but it's at home :/
It's basically this one but updated which partitions you can flash: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/oreo-t3754483
That one works for Mate 9 so if you need decryption you could use it.

If you've been still having issues flashing magisk through TWRP then i recommend doing it the alternative way. It's the way I first did it and have always done it since.

So from what I've read, if you flash the rom first, then update your recovery you should be good?

This work is not mine. Just sharing.
Most of the users of whyred has updated to miui10 pie update 9.3.28 but finding data encrypted on recovery boot.and are unable to decrypt it.
Try this recovery file in the link and the data partition works fine without any password problem.

Working good but after the restart the twrp is gone, stock recovery gets replaced
I tried to flash then no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip but getting error not installing
Please tell me what to do now, twrp is replacing by stock recovery
Update - It is resolved now, I flashed magisk over it and twrp is not replaced anymore

Can I install it without magisk? Will it be gone after the device restarted without installing magisk?
Just info : Link updated https://github.com/GuaiYiHu/android...2.3.0-whyred/TWRP-20190330-3.2.3.0-whyred.img
it's a recovery so magisk is your choice if you want it or not.

I had this problem before. when you flash twrp, try to reboot to twrp again. then the twrp won't be flashed by stock recovery.
