Does anyone know of an app or a way to move the nav buttons without root? All I want to do is swap the recent and back buttons since I'm right handed and it makes it so much easier one handed.

I swapped mine with this. Working great. You may need to grant permissions from a computer via adb. I don’t remember.
yup that's a great app. I also added a little power button on the right to shut the screen off with.

By chance does the app tell you what adb commands to run to grant permissions?

I'm also trying to figure out how to remap a key for something, and just found this post:

May help you in some way.
seems a lot harder than it needs to be using that.

Ha, at least you can do it modifying a simple file! It looks like I'm going to have to write some C code and maybe compile my own kernel to get done what I want done:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=659904
Good luck!
The HTC M8 is my first phone without the physical home/menu/back buttons on the bottom of the phone.
I find the multitask button totally useless (what's wrong with holding down menu until it appears like my S3 and S4?) and I'd rather have the menu key there and not take up any valuable screen real estate. I'm also used to having the back button on the right and the menu on the left, can any of this be changed?
These kind of changes will require a true root solution, but will very much be possible. Just need S-Off to achieve it! Temp root won't do the trick.

Do you have in mind a complete custom Rom? Or can a root-only setting just be modified?

Nah just a modded framework-res/systemui would be all that's needed. But I'm sure entire ROMs will pop up with the ability to change on the fly.

Ok, I'm not interested in getting custom Rom's they're great but too much of a headache sometimes. I just want to adjust these settings

There is an XDA version
I'll just leave this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/themes-apps/root-softkeyz-apply-mix-softkeys-t2219804
So, since there is an XDA version, this is allowed. Of course, if you like the free version, support the dev.
Thanks,

anyways.....
anyone using the app notice the home and mulitask buttons are slightly larger than the back key?
edit: original post updated...
I'm using SoftKeysz and observing some "ghosting" behavior where the "up graphic" ^ overlays the home key, which causes the home key to stop responding. the only fix is a reboot. Anyone else experiencing this behavior and/or have a fix i might try? thanks!
EDIT: Fixed, something related to XBlast or GravityBox options i selected. I thought i had disabled them, but i didn't. I disabled both apps and ghosting went away, will have to see which option (if any) was the causing my problem.

Is anyone using this on viper? The only thing that is changing for me is the splash effect. Nav keys are not theming.

Hey man how the heck are ya? Looks like you decided to go HTC to I see. I got fed up with the Note 3, and gotta say this was a great replacement.
Anyone having problems with the size of some of the softkeys? It seems to be enlarging them.

By chance did you backup your stock m8 keys is softkeyz? If so can you attach them here? I did not backup mines and the ones available in-app don't have the stock find button.
Thank you

Anybody already wasted his money for this app? You should have bought this one instead: GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys
You can also read about it here in this thread.

Mine themed, but most of the time one button (in my case the recents)...was huge. and wouldn't correct itself for some reason, even if I used GravityBox to shrink the Navbar. No idea...guess I'll wait for the next update..I really like it though - lots of cool designs on there.

The app needs to be compatible with gravitybox.. will report this in the original thread app
Anyone using easy home app and have experience with the pro version. For those who don't know the app turns you home key into a capacitive button rather then a physical button. I don't know for sure but I've read that it supports the N5, S6, S6E, and S6E+. I have also read about N4, and S5 users using it. I really like the app and it works well. I really missed my OnePlus 2 home button.

Did you know that if you use the app you described you will no longer be able to
use the fingerprint security function unless you uninstall the app or totally disable it.
Good luck,

I'm not quite sure I understand. When I try to bypass my lockscreen with any other fingers then I have setup in the fingerprint settings it will not unlock and prompts me to enter a backup password. So I'm not sure if they have fixed thas issue but lockscreen fingerprint login and last pass fingerprint login seem to be working fine for me.

You are 100% wrong and shouldn't mislead other people. I've been using the app since it was posted a few months ago by @Jawomo it works exactly as it should. I've been using it everyday for months with my fingerprint unlock and have never had a failed unlock.

This app works well with Pixel 2 no root needed, just grant permission with adb

I started using this app yesterday, stuck my phone on the charger last night and woke up to a warm, unresponsive device. Hard reset got it working again Hadn't happened before, I'm wondering if it's possible this app was to blame?

If this is the case anyone know how I can undo whatever permissions I granted over adb to get everything back to stock? Like the look of immersive mode but not worth losing stability over.

I read in another thread that on the Pixel 2 immersive mode disables the assistant "squeeze" feature. I also had problems with the screen being black and unresponsive on wakeup. Hopefully these Pixel 2 quirks can be solved. I think the nav bar in 8.0 is buggy in general, sometimes the nav bar refuses to go away when videos are in full screen.
So how do I revert to stock?
